The Hansdeltanian Federal Army (HFA) (Russian: Һансделтаниы Федеральные Сухопутные Силы, Hansdeltanskiye Federal'nyye Sukhoputnyye Sily, literally "Hansdeltanian Federal Ground Forces") is the land warfare branch of Hansdeltanian Federal Forces. It is one of seven federal uniformed services. The Hansdeltanian Federal Army was initially founded in 1750 as the Hansdelta Independence Army before transitioning to the Hansdeltanian Army in 1776 following the Hansdelta–Deltania union. It is the oldest branch of the Hansdeltanian Federal Armed Forces and is first in the order of precedence. The HFAF is one of the largest and most technologically advanced armies in the world.
The Hansdeltanian Federal Army is organized under the Department of the Army, one of the three military departments of the Department of Defense. The Army is headed by a civilian Secretary of the Army, who reports to the Presidentially appointed, Senatorium-confirmed Secretary of Defense. The highest-ranking military officer is the Chief of Staff of the Army, who holds the O-11 grade of General of the Army. The Chief of Staff of the Army supervises Army units and serves as one of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Secretary of Defense can assign Army components to combatant commands.
History
The Hansdeltanian Federal Air Force's antecedent was founded on 11 November 1906, under the name of Hansdeltanian Federation Army Air Corps during the midst of the Osean War. The airplane was a relatively novel invention, and although Hansdeltanian military was eager to see what military value airplanes held, the brass saw the airplane as merely an extension of the cavalry. It was not until January 1907 that the Hansdeltanian Federation Army Air Corps saw action, first flying reconnaissance missions before some Air Corps pilots considered tossing hand grenades over the side to attack Osean troops. Coincidentally, the Osean Federation considered putting machine guns on their machines to attack Hansdeltanian forces in the open.
