Referendum Act (2016)

1. This act shall be officially cited as the Referendum Act of 2016.

2. The terms "officer" and "officials" are defined as positions with regional powers given by Geranica.

3. A referendum may be called by government officials only when the proposed referendum has supporters of 2 officials overall.

4. Section 2 of the Referendum Act (2016) shall only be valid if there are at least 4 officer positions filled.

5. A referendum may also be called by the founder, Geranica.

6. A referendum may be called by the citizens if a petition receives the valid signatures of at least 10% of the citizens in Jahkku.

7. A proposed referendum shall have the official question, signatures, answers, and duration when submitted to the New Jahkku Referendum Committee.

8. Any proposed referendum without all of the aforementioned requirements shall be struck null and void, and procedures must be restarted.

9. A proposed referendum shall be examined and scheduled by the New Jahkku Referendum Committee, which shall be composed of the Secretary of the Interior, the founder, and one regional department appointed by the founder.

10. A referendum shall pass with a simple majority (50% + 1) except when otherwise stated, though a referendum cannot pass with under a simple majority of votes.

11. A referendum shall last for 48 hours (2 days) unless otherwise stated.

12. Any referendums passed prior to this law shall remain in effect unless they are repealed.

Hereby establishes the Referendum Act of 2016.
