Cursus Agorarum
Quaestor: Entry level position. Acts as an assistant or "Apprentice" to a higher office on the Cursus. This is the position where you will learn the ropes of Agoran government and society. Prerequisites: Agoran Citizenship.
Aedile: Run RPs, public events, and other cultural stuff. This is the next step up in your Government career, and being elected to this position makes one eligible for membership in the Agoran Senate. This is the position where you prove your worth, and make a name for yourself. Prerequisites: Have served as a Quaestor
Praetor: A very prestigious office, Praetors handle Judicial and Legal matters, can be assigned to carry out specific duties of the Consul. This position works closely with the AGO. Prerequisites: Have served as an Aedile or is a member of the Senate.
Consul: Consul is the most powerful and prestigious office on the Cursus, and is traditionally one in the same as the Agora Protergatis. "Years"* are named after the current Consul. As opposed to the Roman tradition, there is only one Consul, not two. Prerequisites: Being elected AP.
Censor: Former Consuls, Censors are in charge of maintaining the records and archives of Agora (voter registrations, census, etc). They hold no real political power, but they are immensely prestigious none the less. Prerequisites: Have held the position of Consul, nominated and approved by the Senate.
Prīnceps Senatus: The internally elected leader of the Senate. The PS has no special powers that put them above their fellow senators, as they are merely the mouthpiece of the majority opinion. They are in charge of reporting the decisions of the Senate to the public. Prerequisites: Member of the Senate.
Vovestus: Nemonicus, who holds all but absolute power. He's not the type of guy to use it unless he really has to, so don't worry about it. Prerequisites: Be the Founder of Agora
Senate: The Senate shall serve as an "advisory committee" of sorts for Agora, overseeing the proper implementation of Legislative and Judicial matters. The Senate will be an Executive Agency. It shall consist of the Inner Council, which will still maintain it's extant role as the Consul's de facto Cabinet, accompanied by accomplished players who have achieved the post of Aedile at the least. The Senate has the right to Veto any legislation with a majority vote, which can only be overturned by a 2/3rds super-majority in the lower house. The Senate has no set number of members. New members may be added by a majority vote in the Senate, provided that the Candidate has achieved the position of Aedile, and Non-Inner Council members may be removed by a 2/3rds super-majority. Appointments are for "life", or until resignation or your removal. To remove an Inner Council member from the Senate, a unanimous vote is required.
Apella: Comprised of all citizens of the region who aren't in the Senate. Senators may be allowed to vote in the Apella if it is a crisis situation, or otherwise warranted (e.g. the regional population is too low to have an effective Apella without Senatorial assistance).
