New poll reveals that Kanglia, Brittalia, Relfa and Zion Imperium will be Victorious in the General Election!
The Union Post released an opinion poll for the upcoming Autumn General Election that ran from September 11th to September 13th, with a grand total of eighteen responses. The results showed a close race between Kanglia and Heaveria, who are both running for the title of Prime Minister of our Union. For now the vote is very close, with Kanglia in the lead. This result was expected even though the last three elections for Prime Minister finished with very narrow and decisive victories.
Glancing at the Attorney General race, it is clear that Relfa will win as he is the only competitor. Looking at the World Assembly Delegate race, Brittalia has a towering lead over his adversary, North Plegia, who has recently been charged with illegally seizing the regions delegate position. It is not known whether these allegations will be proven in court, but for the time being it is clear that the popular opinion is now favoring the famous Prime Minister Emeritus, Brittalia.
This poll also revealed a stunning new line-up for the Council of State. Because this poll was released prior to Great East Prussia’s dropping out of the race and The Glorious Hypetrain's announcement to run for Chairperson, Great East Prussia remains on the poll, however The Glorious Hypetrain (Kade) does not. It is assured that Kade will win his election regardless. Based off of the results, this election is expected to give the Social Democratic Party (SDP) a majority in the Council of State. We also see the Diamond Confederacy, a political newcomer, in the lead. They lead the race over Zaegrad by 11 points, with Khevo, Asdersland, and Zion Imperium behind him. Khevo and United Alioth States have both tied, with 44 points. The results of the poll can be seen below: (Note that the respondents were given three choices for the Council of State.)

Fierce and Scandalous Campaigns in September Election!
This recent general election has brought over 10 candidates to the ballot for voters. The most competitive races in this election include WA Delegate, Prime Minister, and the Council of State. This is the first time anyone has seen the race for WA Delegate become so heated, and it wasn’t just limited to the campaign for the delegacy. The race for Prime Minister also brought heavy debate and discussion as well, and some say it was as competitive as the June General Election. It also brought intensive discussions and debates, in a way that our Union has never seen before.
In the race for the office of Prime Minister, we saw the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Heaveria, and former Secretary of State, Kanglia, in an intense battle for the highest office. Both the candidates had published attack pieces against each other, garnered a respectable amount of campaign endorsements and presented many proposals for their term. The race for Prime Minister was certainly one of most heated and intensively watched campaigns of the Autumn General Election, along with the race for the WA Delegate.
Another fiercely fought race was the one for WA Delegate which saw political outsider North Plegia and Prime Minister Emeritus Brittalia campaign for office. This race was defined by the actions of both candidates, in which North Plegia gathered enough WA endorsements to illegally seize the WA Delegacy, citing the position’s vacancy from a Vote of No Confidence against the previous delegate United Millennials, earlier this month as his justification. This caused massive uproar from candidates and voters alike, notably from his opponent Brittalia. It was decided that the next person to lead the Supreme Court would make the final decision on the case. One positive outcome that came out of this race was the exposure of the inactive and forgotten World Assembly Improvement Program, in which both candidates proposed different solutions to revive the program. The author of the World Assembly Improvement Program (WAIP), Relfa, took a side on the issue and endorsed Brittalia for the position.
The usually close-marginal and upbeat race for the Council of State saw a more quiet tone this time around. The members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), being more organized since the last election, are expected to sweep the majority seats.

Hello my fellow citizens. I would to thank the Union Post for hosting this debate. I would like to thank my opponent Heaveria for taking part in this debate with me as well. I am very excited for you to learn more about our platforms tonight, & if you have yet to vote hopefully this debate will sway your vote one way or the other. I am very happy to be here to for the debate. I would like to say that I have a large number of ideas to work improve this region. I cannot wait to express all of them to you over the course of this debate. I have plenty of experience as both Speaker & Councilor, & also am the leading ambassador of the UDS. I hope that you all enjoy this debate. I have not had a debate in quite some time & I am very excited to be having one with a person such as Heaveria. I have many questions for him, as I am sure he has many for me. I hope that I can answer all questions from all parties. I hope that you all find this debate to be very insightful.

Hello Citizens. I’m excited for this debate and am honored to have the ability to attend it! I’m hoping that we’ll be able to cover many aspects & policies of both my campaign and that of Kanglia’s. I wish my opponent the best regardless of election outcome. My core focus in my term will be citizen involvement as I’ve repeatedly stated. During this debate we should hopefully be going more into detail on the campaigns. In general, to accomplish more citizen activity & transparency is by getting citizens to cooperate with the delegate on the WA, more view into the CoS. We will also be opening a foreign affairs ministry, placing an endorsement cap, and working with other citizens and government officials to for example establish government reports. But let’s not make a long-boring introduction and cut to the chase as there are so many things to do in the debate and the term itself! I will certainly enjoy this debate and hope you do too! Let’s sail forward!

What are your law priorities for this term? What do you intend to propose to the legislature?

Legislation is what drives our region and brings new great changes. When it comes to what I intend to bring for proposals, they will be coupled with the term plans laid out in my introductory speech for this debate. I will try to avoid the use of Executive Orders for regular votings in order for the citizens to have a vote. For priorities in the first few days will be the endorsement cap due to the current situation/crisis on the WA delegate. After this, I hope to go ahead witht the Ministry of Foriegn Affairs and Government Reports as these will be helpfull and influential throughout the rest of the UDS history. After this, there are many more legislations that will be submittied by the citizens and by the government members. I hope to work together with everyone who would like to write bills for the UDS to provide criticism and have this region grow in prosperity!

I have a lot of legislation which I want to do. First off, I want to repeal things like the UCRC, which are not needed any longer. I also want to reform the UDSAF & I want to establish the I will offer a bill, currently titled The Legislative Calendar Establishment Act. This Act will enforce timeframes on discussion & debates in the Council of State regarding bills that are sent there, because the sooner that they are finished with their edits, the quicker that we can give them to you, the General Assembly, for your feedback. This Act will start a 36 hour period(roughly dependent on Real Life for Regional Officers) for the General Assembly to debate the bill before voting on it. I want to establish government reports in conjunction with DC & also to work with Relfa on his ideas judicial reforms. I want to add an FA department, as well as to expand the Union Roleplaying. I want to establish more interregional cultural events as well.

What are your priorities for foreign policy, such as embassies and interregional alliances?

Firstly, I am one who is responsible for getting our embassy & treaty with TSP. I want to work on establishing relations with TNP & the NPO, I also have ideas for embassies with Narnia & have already gotten on base contact with those representatives. As stated just a second ago, I want to establish more cultural events, such as interregional roleplays & more events of regular unity with TSP & all of our other regions. I am excited about this concept & plan on establishing embassies either on forums or gameside with other GCR's such as TWP & TNP

As previously said, I want to establish a Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help represent our regions best interests on an international scale. Recently there has been much progress with GCR’s as well as some UCR’s such as Enadia. A Minister of Foreign Affairs would not just help levy workloads, but shows professionalism & is there not to just create relations but to maintain them over time. I feel if we do make embassies or join treaties that over time we should be maintaining these relations with our allies in order to remain at good terms and ensure we have future allies that trust in us and see the respect and professionalism in us and for us. It is like this that we can get our name our there in the active community to in return benefit the UDS in nation count and to help gain an active community for ourselves. This is how we should be dealing with foreign affairs to ensure a successful ministry.

Roleplay is growing in the Union. Do you have any proposals to the roleplaying community in the region? If so, what are they?

I actually do! While I will be honest, I am no fan of roleplay, roleplay is an essential part of the region for an active community and this ties in with my focus on citizen involvement. When we roleplay we should stay realistic on topics and maintain them interestingly over a period of time, and we should use the Minister of Roleplay to ensure this is immersive and ongoing. I also believe that we should ask public opinion first via a regional poll on the future alternate ideas of roleplaying so that we ensure we have the most public interest in a topic ensuring an active roleplaying community.

Roleplay, while not something I have any expertise in, is a new thing for the UDS. I think that it has influenced activity & has been a good thing for the region so far. I wish to continue this by establishing interregional roleplays with new friends. Brittalia, the creator of this, is credit. I wish to expand the Ministry of Roleplay's powers so to speak by adding more mediators & making new ideas, such as setting specific roleplays, I will get with my Minister of Roleplay for this to be done.

The world seems to be slipping further and further into the grip of the raiders. What would you do to embolden the UDSAF to take an active role in the gameplay community. Who might you appoint as the General At Arms.

First off, I would keep myself as General. I also would disagree with that thought process. Raiders are simply tagging. There's not a new raider org that is really making an impact on the world. I believe that this can be corrected however by stepping up our recruitment for the UDSAF & to go on joint operations with our allies in detags, liberations, & chasing.

To start right off the bat and be 100% honest, I will appoint Kanglia as the General At Arms due to his R/D knowledge and past success in this position. I feel the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should also be an intervening ministry in this case aiding the Union’s armed forces in gaining new members for the UDS. UDSAF membership has been stagnant and has seen little-to-no improvement in that regard. I would disagree on the raider point and even if raiders we’re going this far as to be known for “taking over NS” then that should be a strong motivator for us to keep going and to go stronger with unity! The UDSAF is great but it needs to be increased and some reform does certainly need to happen.

What do you believe is the main difference in your policies from each other and why do you think your difference may be better than the others? (Question Submitted by The united alioth states)

That's a hard one to answer as I find that I and Kanglia have similiar goals, but the way in which we want to accomplish them differ. I do not believe I have heard anything from Kanglia on a Ministry of Foriegn Affairs so I believe that stands at the moment as Heaveria policy/goal. And as previously said, I want to work together with all citizens and other officials to make the UDS as great as it can be. I also see the UDS by the end of my term being at a set permanenmt minimum of 420-430 nations, 10 new passed legislations, etc. We need to set realistic goals, but achieveing over them would and I think will be great and that we will see us overachieving.

Unlike my opponent, I have laid out clear-cut plans for all of my policy. Increasing WA activity, UDSAF Reform, legislative reform, the creation of FA teams, not a ministry. Establishing endorsement caps therefore reforming a WA Bill. Establishing better embassies and friendships. Working with others to start Judicial Reform & Governmental transparent reform. Heaveria has not given that much of anything legislation wise, as far as I have seen. I of course want to start more recruitment for both the UDSAF & the region at large as well. I also believe that posting more often on our NSGP forum is something that we should do, & one that we will do regardless.

How will you maintain strong ties and further advance your regional involvement in FORGE? (Question Submitted by

Personally, the UDS has carried FORGE for far too long in my belief. I do not feel that we should distance ourselves from the rest of FORGE, but I do think that we should want each region to start carrying a little bit more of the workload as far as defending and being active in culture. However, I would not be against pulling ourselves out of FORGE if that is the will of the people. I do not believe that FORGE has helped us grow culturally or as a region, which is a shame. I like FORGE, but I want the rest of FORGE to grow to our level, in all truth.

Well, I don't have strong ties with FORGE. I am merely an observer in FORGE and have kept up-to-date on its happenings. But as Prime Minister this must be a change, it is expected to stay up-to-date on our international alliances and allies (which also should be an involvement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). And I do agree that if the region itself wishes to exit the organization that is FORGE that we should respect that and move on with it while I find it is great to be an organization the words of our citizens matter more as we must remain our regional sovereignty and stay unique. We could carry on but I can't spend all day typing.

Yes, there are always issues with EVERY region. Some of these include for example:
- Hidden Council of State
- GA is mainly a voting-force in my opinion.
- No Ministry of Foreign Affairs which should be a given and common professionalism of a region.

I do not think that there's a lot wrong with the region. However I think that we have a little bit much as far off an inactivity in government. There's too few people running for positions. I feel that the region would be much better if we could grow as a region in our government activity as well as our regional activity in things such as roleplay and discussions. I do also agree that the hidden CoS is an issue.

Commanding the UDSAF, being the Speaker of the region. As well as being a member of TGW & being a very active defender, although I have slacked a bit lately.

My greatest achievements thus far have been in the judicial business as well as reviving a once dead and unrespected organization full of distrust and deemed for failure to an organization with 900 nations that is respected by its member-regions and more than before by the international community. In Judiciary business I have implemented reform and have advocated for strict adherence to law and that instead of circumventing we should fix things instead of going around the rules. As former Justice, Chief Justice, and MotC I hope to continue my involvement and help the UDS grow and be prosperous.

How do you feel about the failure of the implementation of the World Assembly Improvement Program or WAIP?
North Plegia
I feel that the WAIP has a lot of potential to improve the current state of the UDS's activity in the World Assembly. If United Millennials used his term to a greater effect, the WAIP would surely be up and running by now. In my opinion, these past few months have been an unfortunate waste, and the failure to implement the WAIP is criminal.

The main reason the World Assembly Improvement Program (WAIP) failed was because the WA Delegate we had elected fell inactive, and because of that, I have dedicated part of my campaign to reviving and reforming the program that Relfa has created. Under my delegacy, we will see noticeable improvements in our World Assembly participation and have a bigger voter share of WA and SC proposals using the WAIP.

What would you do legislatively to fully implement the WAIP? Would you amend CL-33?

As I’ve stated in my Prime Minister’s Questions session yesterday, my plan is to repeal the Awards system and replace it with something more competitive. Sort of like a ranking system. I will also create jobs where people can write dispatches (Or Google Docs) about GA and SC proposals, and about the World Assembly about a whole.

I think CL-33 is a very well thought out proposal. Since we haven't seen the Awards system in action yet, it is difficult to judge whether we should implement that or repeal it for a ranking system, like Brittalia suggests. From what I can see, there are no major necessary improvements to be made. What I would add is advertisements, which would promote and encourage WAIP membership. I would also implement a discord server dedicated to the organization.

How do you plan to raise the number of overall endorsements to the delegate in the region? How do you plan to encourage nations to cross endorse?
North Plegia
I think the current system works fine in raising the overall endorsements to the Delegate. The WAIP would help increase the number of endorsements to the Delegate, as in order to be a member of the WAIP, one must endorse the Delegate, as well as other member nations. This will add more obligation to endorse the Delegate. Concerning cross endorsements, members of the WAIP must endorse at least 10 other members

We need to do a better job of getting the word out to endorse the delegate. Last time, it took longer than it should have to make United Millennials the WA Delegate. A potential fix is, again, better communication to the people to make sure they are endorsed. We also need to establish an endorsement cap for the region. As for the second part of the question, I’m not 100% sure. The World Assembly Improvement Program seems to have this area covered, but I am open to consideration of a better and optimized solution.

What are you opinions on the concept of Commendations V. Condemnations?

I think it's an great concept, however they are definitely used in certain instances where they're not needed. For example: Raiders should not be condemned. Condemnations are gloated and flaunted as badges for the work that they've done, terrorizing innocent regions. Times when Commendations are not needed are in instances where the region in question has not made major positive contributions to the game of NationStates.

My outlook on the concept is similar to Brittalia's.
We should avoid condemning raiders, as it is seen by them as an honour to receive a condemnation. If a raider happens to be condemned by the SC, we should repeal it immediately.

Are you involved with writing resolutions? Do you look through the World Assembly forums (GA & SC) on the Nationstates Forums?
North Plegia
I have not yet written a resolution, but I frequently and thoroughly read them, and am an enthusiastic voter in both the General Assembly and Security Council. I do think that those that write resolutions in the region should continue to do so. The WA Writing Guild would help the UDS produce higher quality resolutions. But I am not an active writer.

To be frank, no. However, if I am elected as WA Delegate, I will put some time into writing proposals. I’ve had ideas for many, just never wrote them down. As a former legislator in the UDS government, I think you can expect a proposal or two on the forums from me in the future (Maybe even voted on!) I have indeed looked at the General Assembly and Security Council sections of the NS Forums many times, and it has helped familiarize how one would write a proposal.
