Regional News: Statement Regarding RR/TR Conflict

Minister Meijer Issues Statement

The conflict each of us experienced was severely lacking of civility and never needed to occur. However, the end came before it escalated further, and for that I am sure we are all relieved. Hopefully the peace is everlasting.

Those of us involved with the mediating gave our very best attempt at dissolving the raging situation, only to have the talks ended abruptly by The Radiant who threatened my region and others with intervention. The threat almost caused me to use my nation's interstellar fleet to thwart any and all possible warring intentions.

I am at ease to know that did not happen. A military response from either of us would have made many suffer. The fact that a treaty was reached between The Radiant and Radiant Republic, now the Great Socialist States of Odinovich, is a positive start. I wish both of these communities, and the rest of us a peaceful future.

I refuse to use this statement to attack others, as I would rather us look ahead rather than what is behind us. I will not get into what was done, what was said - whether fact or fiction - that instigated the over-fueling of this difficult issue. Our time to clear the smoke is now, together.

Diplomacy may have been once compromised, but I now look forward to a stable existence between us all; today, tomorrow and beyond. Friends, peace must never yield.
