I might also, just for my own amusement's sake, add in a statement by the Jonathanian Monarchy about the change in Sveltlanan laws.
Maybe something along the lines of "We might be slow to take the steps of progress, but at least we walk them in the right direction". Or "at least we don't go backwards", or something.

Not sure if Xia is the type of country that would allow homosexual marriages since everything is so traditional and the Huanglu (state honour/etiquette code) is very strict on matters of marriage. But we'll see.

Yeah. It's very taboo but the state hasn't criminalized it is the idea. And since by law all marriages have to be officiated by a Xifu (Confucian priest) who are often very traditional it would be difficult to get a license but not impossible.

In Aldelxane, gay marriage is legalized, and taboos about the LGBT community are starting to fade.
