Me! I made mine a joke (i'd say it's not too shabby) Talk about the evolution of your people, how you got the idea for a flag, the powerful people of your country, and how you found the island your live in (and or revolted against to make a country).

Now time for the weather!

Aerilia's weather update: It is currently 10.5 degrees right now. Tomorrow which is a Friday is forecasted to be 18 degrees, cloudly. And a medium chance of showers.

History of Streidenberg
Streidenberg was once a country that was a part of the German Empire before WWI, but when the war began, Streidenberg gained its independence, and later would form a country on a small plot of land almost untouched by human hands. Streidenberg always was a Militaristic country and has constantly over the years been involved in many wars, and a few civil wars. The that was most important was the war in which the God of Man, an ancestor of Streidenbergs current leader, fought and died honorably, and rose to godhood, and became the most worshipped Deity in Streidenberg.

Looks good! If you want some below is a good template to make an overview of your country, as well as an example, my own overview, which is still a work in progress.

Pinguioris

68 million people live in Pinguioris. It is a land of grassy plains, with some forests around the northeast and southeast parts of the country. It is bounded in the east by the Emerald Ocean, and in the West by the Sqaran Desert. The northern edge of the country stops along the Northern Kurula mountains, and past them was never involved with Pinguioris historically. There are nine major states in Pinguioris, represented through stripes. These nine states are separated into two regions, east and west. Eastern states are represented by the red stripes, while the western states are yellow stripes. The blue on the flag represents the Great Horse Lake, a major defining feature of the country, filling the center of the plain. The Castle is known as the Lamais Castle, and has never been successfully invaded. The four stars represent the four creator deities of Equestrianism. The Sun and the Moon are placed together as hope for Pinguioris's eternal future, with the arrow, representing the need for war to keep the peace, leading the way to it.

Pinguioris comes from an ancient, dead language called Latin. Little is known about it, and it is unknown what ancestors of the people of Pinguioris spoke it. The word Pinguioris itself means 'fertile ground' in Latin.

First Peoples and Cultures 8,000-2,000 PD/7,353-1,353 BCE

Nearly 10,000 years ago, on the south-central Pinguiorisian Plain, the Neolithic culture of the Honey Tombs developed. Their graves developed multiple rooms over time, using Antechambers, a main chamber, and storage chambers on the back of the main chamber for storing everything they might need in the afterlife. Pottery with dried fruits and meat, preserved with honey, combs made from antler bones, copper, jade and silver jewelry, and obsidian tools, among other items. The main chamber had the body in the middle, with some attempts at preservation, again with honey, and wrapped in strips of leather. The stone vault in which the body was placed was made of one slab for each face, oftentimes mostly to completely engraved with obsidian tools. Other than these dozens of graves, most having been disturbed at some point, there is nothing from this group of people that has survived.

Metalmaking and Domestication 5,000-1,000 PD/4,353-353 BCE

Before 5,000 PD, the Honey Tomb culture used small amounts of honey for preserving, and for food only. But as the tombs become more recent and elaborate, honey usage sees a massive increase, with entire bodies smothered in large amounts. At the same time, bones of boars and different fowls start being found, as well as a select few grains and fruits in larger numbers, implying a revolution of agriculture that either started here, or was brought here from far away. Around 3,000 PD, we begin to see the bones of cattle as well, followed by the skeletons of prized horses from about 2,000-1,500 PD. Later tombs begin to have metal tools as well, not just obsidian, jade and bone. As copper and silver moved from being just taken out of the ground to being refined and shaped, tools begin to be made of these materials as well, eventually leading to bronze.

The Topiqaran Tribes 1,000-0 PD/353 BCE-647 CE

Almost 2,500 years ago, the first cities began to take shape. Scattered along the many rivers of Pinguioris, many also formed along the Great Horse Lake, and we see begin to see many trading and irrigations systems form. Many city-states arose as each tribe built up central areas and formed governments beyond that of familial attachment. In the region once known as Topiqara, a culture group known for pottery and bamboo weaving; the bamboo being used to make strips on which an early writing system would later be used, Penagraform. Characterized by paisley or teardrop shaped strokes, it spread throughout the region around 700-600 PD, but died out as other writing systems replaced it by 200 PD.

As the kingdom of Ozirwar spread to the southwest, tribes on the outskirts of the region began to be swallowed up, and by 237 PD, the largest and most prosperous tribe, the Nekis, found themselves besieged by Ozirwarian soldiers, leading them to make a series of diplomatic requests to nearby tribes, enemy or ally. Several of them, including enemies who would allow a brief stop in their hostilities, came together, and outside the second largest Neki village, known as Broughan's Hillfort, they managed to ambush the Ozirwarian military as it was organizing itself to take out the village. The attack was much larger than they expected, and so devastating was the sudden counterattack from the Nekis and their allies, that Ozirwar was given a huge setback, almost all the way to the edges of the original tribal boundaries of Nekis before Ozirwarian intrusion in the region. Together, this new, and temporary alliance helped release multiple tribes under the outskirts of the kingdom, until Ozirwar sued for peace in 235 PD. This kept the region free from larger political entities, until a group of unknown origins sailed to the northern shores of their homeland, at the mouth of the Ardennais river, and settled there. The group became known as the Appaloosans.

They had a strange tongue and customs, but peace held until 94 PD, when a dispute between the Appaloosans and two nearby tribes led to war, where the Appaloosans easily wiped out both tribes, taking their land. In doing so, they unintentionally inherited other land disputes, and because some tribes were either scared of their prowess in war, or thought they would be an easy victory, they continued to take more land, eventually controlling their own kingdom that held the north end of Topiqara by 56 PD. By this time, the Nekis had in fact created a confederacy with 3 other tribes, and now controlled most of the south central part of Topiqara. This led to massive conflict where every tribe in Topiqara had to choose a side in 42 PD. The Appaloosan-Nekis war lasted for much longer than any other war they had known, up to 13 PD. This so weakened every side, that over 30% of men in the region were killed, and an unknown plague from the east killed 10% of the population.

In a strange turn of events, both the Appaloosans and the Nekis joined themselves together under a two king system, which promptly collapsed. Since both kings were essentially the last of the royalty in Topiqara, a civil war began, this time from Beldara in the east, a commoner who intended to let 'all rule', and the nobleman Lord Dennais, who tried to consolidate the region into one kingdom. The civil war lasted for 9 years, finally ending at the bloody battle of Necxionga, an out of place town that had planted itself in Topiqara after fleeing from something out west. Here, Beldara triumphed, and a month after the battle, he had created a system of democracy, where every adult man would vote, someone would record the village's numbers, and all villages would send their records to Baundrois, where Beldara chose to place the seat of government, away from the myriad of different capitals used by various sides in the two previous wars. He let go of the army in 0 PD, declaring of this last vestige of his power, that 'even this is the people's, not a crown's.' This new democracy, as fragile as it started, would be called a new name, Pinguioris.

Kingdoms of Ozirwar and Huacada 500-100 PD/147-547 CE

Ozirwar

At the opening of the fifth century PD, in the forests to the west of the Greihen mountains, lived a series of tribes unlike those in Topiqara. More hunters and gatherers than they were farmers, the Moraindians were somewhat less developed in terms of culture and science than the tribes on the Topiqaran plain. The question is how did that change, for soon the tribes on the plain would be hard-pressed to stop invasion by a more advanced culture coming from the forest. Weathered stone inscriptions and broken clay tablets provide some idea as to what happened in this transition. One inscription, which held four languages on it, Ozirwarian, a written down version of what the Moraindians spoke using the same characters as the previous language, and two other languages that are still being decoded, both of which have unique alphabets as well. This inscription, which is partially weathered away, seems to describe an older civilization from farther south, which then apparently culminated in a war, most likely a civil war by its description of 'brothers dividing brothers' that led to a significant number of refugees, some of which simply fled, joined by others who were exiled en masse. Stones like this can be found throughout southwestern Pinguioris, and seem to have been written within about 50 years of each other, as different groups fled northward.

By 508 PD, this migration had mostly ceased, resulting in a dozen or so scattered settlements across the forested reaches in southwestern Pinguioris. This patchwork of semi-random settlements were soon proper villages and towns, which would soon fight each other as full fledged city states. The one that would eventually unite them all was Ozirwar, by virtue of its unique defensive and trading position, settled on an island in the Leine river. The unique geography of the city allowed it survive multiple sieges by enemy cities, and also ensured a larger trade network on the navigable river, which flows into the f river on its way to the Great Horse Lake.

Huacada

f

Collapse of Classical Nations 200-50 PD/447-597 CE

Near the beginning of the second century PD, we begin to see a handful of documents discussing the unknown causes for disturbance in the city-states and tribes around the edges of the plain. However, nothing definitive appears until a partially destroyed scroll, believed to be from 190-160 PD, was recovered from the ashes of the Huacadain city Neixka. It reads as a plea for help to the Emperor of Huacada from a minor king whose kingdom lay somewhere to the southwest, in the foothills to the west of the Yoracca rainforest. The scroll, as much as we can read from it says: '...of the Fndursian peoples, many fled to us, too many for us to feed. But before we could even send them off...they rode in disorganized fashion, seemingly, but flanked us on every hill and in every valley, our forces...and much of our farmland is already gone. ...sent to you under cover of darkness for aid, as we have agreed to in times of need. They have looted everything beyond...four of our seven towers around...spotted even more tribes, so dirty one couldn't tell the shade of skin they had, coming up in ragged bands, just a half dozen or so at a time. Many were seen by the enemy and killed immediately, and others...'. This is one of less than a hundred documents produced and recovered from shortly before both Huacada and Ozirwar were apparently besieged by many calamities all at once, resulting in both falling by the mid first century PD. This scroll is also notable for appearing to be decades older the the next documents, suggesting that something slowed, stopped, or even reversed what was happening in the area, if only for a generation. It also may have been redirected, for the next several documents recovered come from Oziwar, on the other side of the Greihen mountains, much farther to the west. f

Soon after the collapse of the most advanced cultures in the area, a new center for trade began developing along the southern shore of the Great Horse Lake. A new combination of several cultural groups, some of whom fled from Ozirwar and some from Huacada along with the local people and traders from other villages on the plains came together to form multiple towns along the bank of the f river. f

Mount Shire and its 9 glaciers

Pinguioris is relatively flat, with few defining features. It is mostly a vast plain with few rivers, but plenty of rainfall. The Great Horse Lake, a massive, defining feature of the plain f The northeastern part of the country around the Northern and Southern Kurula mountains are mostly forested, and a quirk of climate allows for a rather desertified area to exist just to the west of these mountains. Mount Shire is the tallest mountain by far throughout the country with its highest point, at 19,852 ft/6,051 m. f. The temperatures are relatively extreme across the country. They can range from 117F/47C degrees in the summer, to -45F/-43C in the winter.

The symbol for sapphire horseshoes is µ, like a horseshoe, but with a tail in one corner.

Equestrianism, by far the most common religion in Pinguioris, is polytheistic, and has many gods. It's main deity, Kenparra, is believed to be the creator of reason and humanity. He is also the leader of the other gods, leading them from his throne in the heavens. The holy book of Equestrianism, known as f, was written by several members of the city-state Menthkras, which lay in the foothills of the Greihen mountains, situated in a steep valley paralleled by high bluffs. This unusual kingdom, though little is known about it, is known to have spawned several religions and cults over the course of two centuries during the height of the Ozirwar kingdom, as it struggled to fend off opposing city-states in the area. It was first spread just after one of Ozirwar's biggest expansions, during a short, peaceful period of 21 years known as the peaceful generation while Menthkras was under Ozirwarian suzerainty. The first major preacher of Equestrianism, f, converted sometime early in that time of peace, and left Menthkras, still in religious turmoil even with no wars, and went to Ozirwar in 357 PD/290 CE. There, he went on to spread the religion to local communities as he traveled around the kingdom. However, it remained but a small sect compared to the Oziwarian faith that dominated the kingdom at the time.

Lenauriae - Goddess of the Earth
Garentiis - God of the Moon
Mrenhanti - Goddess of the Sun
Hiparescent - God of the oceans and seas
Uacrent - God of the land, including minerals and the afterlife
Pegarsi - God of the air and storms
Kenparra - God of humanity and reason

The Pinguiorisian Interstate System

The Pinguiorisian Interstate System (PIS) runs 15 total interstates crossing the length of the country. Those which run primarily east to west as decided by each interstates' endpoints have odd numbers, while those that run primarily north to south have even numbers. Nearly all of the Interstates were built within a 6 year period from 1320/1967 to 1326/1973, though some extensions have occurred, such as I14 from Darvaza to Mirzachirla in 1364/2011

The Pinguiorisian Interstate System

The Pinguiorisian Interstate System (PIS) runs 15 total interstates crossing the length of the country. Those which run primarily east to west as decided by each interstates' endpoints have odd numbers, while those that run primarily north to south have even numbers. Nearly all of the Interstates were built within a 6 year period from 1320/1967 to 1326/1973, though some extensions have occurred, such as I14 from Darvaza to Mirzachirla in 1364/2011

Today I bought some 'pitted' black olives and some pimiento stuffed green olives.

I have also bought something I have never tried before..........Twinkies!

I used to watch them being eaten by Americans on TV and in films and I actually saw them for sale, so I thought, why not? So I bought a box. :)

We have stocked up on some tinned tuna and salmon.

So salmon and cucumber sandwiches today!

How's this look? :o

Noice! I'd recommend saying something about the pride of your region, something like ''The Streindenbergers went to the TNP for refuge, a got it. Their culture was adapted there, having help from nations like Santanaca, Pinguioris, Otter166, and many more to grow more knowlegable, cultured, and overall respected by the North Pacific as a whole. They have taken chunks of the culture of several nations to become what they are today.'' Is that good?
