Hey Ejoland/Ejorike

Wanted to ask you this....*coughs*...

Does King Maxim have companion women among the social circle of his court, which are a.k.a mistresses. I'm sure you know that such adulterous practice was not only common among monarchs and Aristocracy, but actually even expected of them.

Relena's grandfather for example had quite the harem of these companion women, whom mostly were of high-born noble families.

With many of these women also being married, on top of going on to fathering many illicit bastards. Usually this was remedied by having the husbands of said wives, falsely claim paternity of the children. In exchange for lavish dividends from the Crown's purse or business favours; Crown-Government contracts for their companies and whatnot of course.

Or is Maxim like Relena's father, Charles VII; faithful marriage, no keeping of lovers on the side or receivers. Confining his love life only to the marriage bed.

Tell me what you think.

Pineapple belongs on pizza.

It's pretty tasty.

I know what it is, but I never tried it.

I'd like to argue that shrimp and other seafood belong on pizza more than fruit. Not that there's anything wrong with fruity pizza.

I would recommend that you do.

I like both, but I also have a rather varied taste about food.

Royal marriages in Ejorike is, unsurprisingly, not about love. So if Maxim have any love in his marriage, that would be a struck of luck.

As I have told you way earlier, Ejorikean royalties are generally only allowed to marry other royalties. Generally.

One exception to this rule, is that a prince or princess may get special permission to marry down, but then lose the title of prince or princess. In Ejorikean tradition, one can never become a prince or princess through marriage. It goes the other way around. The royals must be of purely royal blood!

Another exception is, that a King who already have heirs can marry a woman of lower birth "to the left". In that case, she will not become Queen, and any children she get with the King will not be princes or princesses. Said children can not inherit the throne.

IRL, there was even at least one example of a prince who got permission to marry to the left. Maxim would not tolerate that though, at least not unless the prince already had put several legit children to the world in a royal marriage, and somehow lost his wife.

I have not actually thought out as much about King Maxim III´s personal life, as I have of his political deeds and stances. But since you ask, I think he might be somewhat on the middle of the road: only one mistress at the same time, or possibly two, and keep it discreet. These women have to be young, hot, unmarried and know to keep proper discretion.

Maxim is a Chrisitian after all, so this is in his mind sinful. However, he might tell himself that he is still relatively virtuous for not keeping an entire harem, like Relena´s grandfather did.

Another possibility is if he already have several legit sons who can inherit his throne, and somehow lost his wife. In that case, he might re-marry to the left with a really attractive and much younger woman, who he actually have some kind of deeper feelings for, and henceforth abstain from mistresses.

For the poll.

Most issues don't benefit me enough. Some are uninteresting or have purely catastrophic results.

I can’t vote for the poll because my population is too small but I’ve never dismissed an issue

Sorry about that, my mistake. All here can vote now.

I tend to agree, but that's sort of the challenge and the point of the game. Don't forget to re-vote as I changed it a bit since I accidently cut a bunch of locals out.

Again I tend to think of that as part of the fun. The philosophical challenge of "no good answers" is a good thing to keep thinking fresh. And the introspection it causes is good for you.

Thing is, this isn’t supposed to be a lesser evil situation. The solutions aren’t supposed to reflect possible solutions, but paths that suit nations.

Sometimes, none of the solutions suit the nation, even though you could easily think of one as soon as you see the problem.

Also, many times the solutions are too extreme.
I shouldn’t have to choose between committing genocide, legalizing slaves and give everybody in the world citizenship no questions asked.

Also, not doing anything is also a choice. Some issues even have that as a solution which is pretty much the same as dismissing the issue, except it has an effect. Some issues don’t have that.

And money isn’t really based on who has a harder job when there are large wealth gaps. A job in a sweatshop working 16 hours a day will pay waaaaaaaay less than a cushy desk job in Wall Street.

Yeah that's an old myth that dates way back, you might as well say "The lower classes are poor because they are lazy and inferior, I am better than them so I deserve to be in charge of them and make more money." It's just an apologia for inherited wealth and power.
