Prager University is an extremist mouthpiece. They deny climate change, deny that racism and bigotry are problems, claim sexism doesn't exist, and are heavily associated with white supremacists and the alt-right.

Random Thought of the Day: I never thought I'd be able to outspend President Trump, but it turns out that I've paid much more in taxes than he has, and all on a teacher's salary!

Prager "University" is more than sufficient in itself to drive up the downloads of various ad blockers. It's like a less charismatic version of Tucker Carlson in the sense that many statements in isolation, or with wildly different context, could be construed as true, but in between those, there are several gratuitously wrong and twisted statements, so the whole thing is like...yikes.

I have seen exactly one Prager video that made sense and it was making a case that the Civil War was about slavery despite what some Southerners argue. (I initially rolled my eyes when I realized that I had to watch a PU video for a lit course.) States rights to do what?

Apologies for missing the nuclear apocalypse. Real life happened.

First, congratulations on your unforeseen comeback, sitting safely in AA it was marvelous to watch! Secondly, I found a remarkable YouTube channel, and we think your leaders should view some of its videos.

While I've actually never heard of this YouTube channel before, one thing I would say is this; the algorithm YouTube uses to recommend videos is designed to show you content that reinforces your existing world view. It's therefore surprisingly easy to get trapped in a bubble where the sort of videos that affirm your beliefs are recommended over videos that are truthful or present a fair and balanced view of the topic. In that case you're probably being nudged, without realising it, towards videos supporting more extreme viewpoints because these are the ones that reel in the most views.

I think we could all do with applying some more critical thinking when we come across such content on YouTube and perhaps look to a more reliable source for factual information.

Terrabod, that is a very good point, and one I constantly look at. One of the best things about being a right leaning centralist, in my option, is the constant onslaught of arguments and attacks forcing me, and those who share my views, to constantly reevaluate our views. This point is a very interesting one to me and a key one in our world.

I feel the left is (especially in recent years) progressively getting wreaking, making worse arguments, and crumbling in general. I think this can be explained by one of our good friend Marx’s ideas called, “Combat Theory.”
This is a theory that the rich have become too rich for too long and have overextended their stay at the ‘top of the food chain,’ they will eventually ‘slip.’ Therefore, it is both right and nature that the people who have been working hard and who have not become complacent with have conflict with those who have become complacent, leading to the idea that if a group of people or a person is without advisories for too long, they will grow weak and should and will be disposed of.
Where as I may not fully agree with the above idea, I can certainly agree with a less literal interpretation of it. That if an idea or a system stands unopposed for too long, it will become weak, corrupted, and will fall. This coming together with the condemnation of any idea more right than Obama, in my option spells a dark and brewing future for the left. I don’t believe the future is too dark for the left though, as a decade in top offices, and even more time in the spotlight, has given plenty of times to sow ideas. There will be riots, prejudice against “crackers,” anti-religious sentiment, and the slow climb to a burning, dead, worldwide California for a long time to come.

I always enjoy the idea that as the current Republican President riles up white supremacist terrorist groups, manipulates the postal service (and just makes up lies about "fraud") to disrupt vote-by-mail (while voting by mail), and makes even some Republicans nervous about transfer of power scenarios come January, it's actually the left that's cracking at the seams.

I mean, I guess TIL that the several hundreds of national security and senior military leadership endorsing Biden recently are all woke Millennial potheads from Berkeley. Crazy, but that's Cali for ya -- the perpetually burning leftist hellscape where soulless Sacramento liberals dance on the ashes with all their evil taxes and regulations so its only the fifth largest economy on Earth.

Chan island wrote:...to the one where [Prager "University"] claimed soy was making men effeminate...

I dunno. I feel like I developed a preference for gender neutral bathrooms right around the same time I switched to a vegetarian diet. Might be a coincidence, but that's probably what the Antifa Animal Liberation Anti-Dairy Communist microchips I heard about on Youtube want me to think

Soy certainly makes it easy to get plenty of protein, which is super manly and stuff apparently. I track my manly diet by making hash marks in the handle of a throwing hatchet I keep in my European carryall. For men. o_o

Not just YouTube, the entire internet. Personalized content = more time on the site and more ad revenue.

While the internet has given everyone the opportunity to be more connected to each other, it also makes us more disconnected from reality, where we can all live in our own virtual utopias and our ideas will always work flawlessly.

Because we're arrogant, self indulgent humans who want to be right, ultra-filtered content to precisely fit our biases is the best and worst thing to hit society.

That'd make a good issue. :)

Into the echo chamber we go! Where we go, there is no return!

I've started a draft of this and was wondering if anyone wanted to co-author because I have limited experience with issue-writing. However, I'm genuinely not fussed if you'd prefer to work on this one by yourself. After reading your latest issue draft (the airport liquids one) I know you'll do a good job of it!

I've got a full version written up here as well, and will send your way for thoughts! If you think it would be productive, we could certainly work together on this (being an issue about having multiple opinions and all, it only seems fair!), assuming CWA and Noah themselves didn't intend to run with it, of course!
