Nice. I should do like Trump, and fail miserably more often.

I’ve heard the reason why Trump refuses the Presidential Salary is because he can’t write it off as a loss. Makes sense.

It’s like I can barely remember a time before Trump. I’d say like an actual third of my conversations begin with me asking whoever if they’ve heard the latest idiotic thing Trump has done.

And my sign from the January 21st 2017 March in NYC still holds true.

“What are the similarities between Trump and a Jack-o-lantern?

They’re both Orange, both hollow-headed, and we try to get rid of both of them in November.”

Welcome, nations of the Multiverse! Drew Durrnil and Owlograd present to you the
First Owlograd-Durrnilian Vexillology Contest!
Here are the rules:
There are four rounds, each with a different topic:
  • Futuristic

  • Authoritarian

  • Communist

  • Religious

In each round, a different flag will be submitted. After the deadline, the Judges will judge and score the contestant's flag on a Ten-Point scale. The contestant with the most total points by the end of the contest wins. Failure to submit a flag before the deadline (TBD) will result in a zero for that round.
Grading Protocol:
The flags will be graded on 3 factors: How well the flag matches the theme, how visually appealing the flag is, and the vexillological rules broken by the flag. The panel of judges will debate on how well the flag matches these factors and will find a consensus.

I definitely will! making flags is legit one of my main hobbies, it's almost therapy to me.

Which, by the way, means that if anyone wants a flag revamp at any time, just contact me and I'll gladly do it

The pinochet-wannabe president of my country got elected, at least in part, as a direct consequence of Trump's election. We have a new election cycle coming in two years, and I'm hoping we'll get rid of that old fart as well. The last four years have taken a toll on everyone, everywhere, and it's consequences will continue to do so for a bit more... But at least a great deal of it is now over.
However, I must say that, whatever I think of the US and it's state, you guys have a much stronger democracy than us. If something like the capitol thing happened here - which, considering the circumstances, I will not be surprised when it happens - I'm not sure our democracy would survive. Actually, forget I said that, I'll save the pessimism for later and be happy right now.

Jail time! Lock him up! They should lock up almost every U.S. president after 50s-60s for war crimes, but since war crimes are ok in the U.S. maybe they will actually lock him up for some other reasons, like treason. I'm happy he is gone and Biden will at least bring some sense into things and world f'd up politics. Oh, actually Trump made one good thing that I know of:

"The Trump administration has determined that China has committed “genocide and crimes against humanity” by repressing Uighur Muslims in its Xinjiang region, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday, in an embarrassing blow to Beijing a day before President-elect Joe Biden is set to take office."

But after all it's like the pot calling the kettle black. U.S. has such a dark history of its own it's kinda hard to tell other countries they act wrong when they have had multiple unlawful wars, like for example in Irak because of weapons of mass destruction that were never found. Torture of "prisoners of war" on Guantanamo Bay. U.S. pardoned all those nazi scientist if they work for them. War crimes in multiple wars. Dark CIA projects, like MKUltra, CIA backed up coups, like in Chile with Salvador Allende, who was democratically elected president and so on. Just to name a few...

List goes on and on. I mean every country has some f'd up sh!t but damn, hard to tell who leads if you compare China, USA and USSR/Russia with dark stuff. I mean if I had to choose between those 3 I would easily move to U.S. but still would find it really hard to swallow all that stuff without choking. No wonder in some schools brainwashing starts from the young age when they pledge their alliance to the flag so critical thinking is not too common towards their own stuff.

So, what I mean is that I hope Biden will bring less darker times into global politics, we most def. need it. In time only history will tell what he leaves behind and I hope he doesn't end up in my sh!tlist, that is long and wide like a cosmos.

I'd rather move to somewhere where you are at least equally oppressed. I mean, if you live in America, and aren't doing so well, watching your children morph into far-rightists, while you watch 'ELON MUSK OVERTAKES JEFF BEZOS ON WORLD'S RICHEST MAN!!!!!'

I don't want to create a political chaos in here, but I'm afraid that the extremist fans of Donald won't stay with their arms crossed, seeing their idol not being president. I'm really worried about the future of US (Actually, I don't care for US, but the States control the world, unfortunately).

I read somewhere that Trump might start a new party. That could be a good thing because it could rip apart republicans even more or at least they could lose voters. Same thing is happening here in Finland with True Finns, ex-members (some left, some got kicked out I believe) are trying to gather a new party with pretty much total fascistic preferences. I mean it's kinda sad people will vote them, but it will also cause trouble among those rightwing parties and they need to make statements against neo-nazis and fascist and clean up their own ranks. That stuff is not under table anymore after that, like it has been a long time with so many rightwing parties. Bad thing is that so many far-right-wingers know how to clean stuff up enough to make it just clean enough for the cabinets and every day politics... But divide et impera works in a way against those groups when they fight together in their own circles and from the voters.

Lady Gaga did very well with the anthem. She has always been one of my favorites in the otherwise lackluster milieu of pop culture.

If she'll sing at it, you know it's bona fide. ;-)

JLo was awesome too! I was surprised by the quality of her performance since she's obviously better known for singing 90s/00s party tunes and that genre is heavily associated with autotune. I know she's a talented actress but she's clearly a talented singer too.

Dear World,

Once again, even though I should have gotten used to it by now, I am astonished at the influence of religion on this country. People laying their hands on a Bible when they are sworn into office, Amazing Grace being sung, people saying things like 'one nation under God', a priest giving a benediction at the end...

We have lots of crazy religious wackos in Turkey but no politician takes an oath on a Quran when they are inaugurated. Instead, they swear on their honor; but of course you may debate the logic of making people swear on something they don't have.

Touché.

heh. I can't even imagine Erdogan saying "I swear on my honour". But I digress the US really should be more secular then it currently is and religious influence is off the roof. Like seriously they need to start taxing those churches.

Dear "United" States,

to be fair your operating system has been showing some malfunctions for a couple of decades now....and they are starting to rub off on our own day to day operations. We have our serious doubts this can be patched in the near future. Our conclusion is that the problem is not with the patch.....although that certainly did not help.....but with the system itself. Rebooting it will only lead to the inevitable next crash. Maybe you need to start reprogramming your OS from the ground up. The used "code" is outdated, open to mallware and clearly has problems dealing with viruses.

Best of luck,

Yeah, Turkey is taking steps towards authoritarianism and turning its eyes a way from democracy and secularism so maybe in the future they start using Quran? I mean what happened to Hagia Sofia was sad so I guess that's the way to go now.

No more open doors from the EU, and NATO is not happy either. I guess they are turning eyes to the east and seek friendship from Putin and friends, althought Erdogan seems to have a love-hate relationship with them, I guess, partly because of the Armenians which they still seem to hate (like the genocide was not enough during the WW I)...

In Greece, we had a Nazi party, which managed to be the third most powerful (at its peak). These guys were bullying the whole country, murdered a bunch of people, you know, the usual. It is sad that the 15% of the Greek people supports them. I remember, there was a time when you were afraid to walk in downtown Athens, especially if you were woman or black. Oh, how beautiful is the world!

I'm actually making up questions for my next magazine article which is about right wingers in Europe and a part of it is about those ex-True Finns members. I'm interviewing one research coordinator (Political science) from one Finnish uni. and one PhD Student at Department of Political and Social Sciences from from Italy Bologna. I knew a little bit about Golden Dawn before and had to check just 30 minutes ago a bit more stuff of them- Crazy stuff indeed. What I didn't know is that they got shot down and many of those members went to jail last year. NICE!

Well that was a fun inauguration to watch. Felt strange watching the president talk and not be barraged with a wave of nonsensical delusions and conspiracy theories.

It was a nice kind of strange. I can get used to this.
