New Legislation Passed

It is no secret that Eulumia's economy is classified as an "Emerging Markets", on the brink of developing further and becoming something greater, or slipping back into the past to be relegated to its history and inequality. The government in Versienna is working hard around the clock in order to shrink these income inequality gaps across the Archipelago Republic, however this is no short and easy process, although every step along the way counts nonetheless. One such step has been proposed by Senator Marah Sindari from the East Sepik and Madang Provinsii of the Papua New Guinea region. She has suggested that in order to help alleviate some burden from the shoulders of families across the nation, all schools shall receive standardized funding to provide nutritious and fresh breakfasts and lunches for the school age students of the nation, citing that it will take a significant burden from millions of parents' shoulders and help struggling families gain some foothold economically in addition to ensuring our nation's future is nourished and educated. The Eulumian Senate overwhelmingly passed the legislation in a landslide vote earlier this week.

In addition to this, two more pieces of legislation were voted upon and signed into law, although they received much more opposition, harsh criticism, and did not receive as many votes. The Central Government will be introducing equity fines across the nation much like those demonstrated in Japan (Inouye) in attempts to deter more petty criminal activity as fines for breaking the laws will be based off of an individual's income and calculated accordingly. The equity fine rulings and regulations will be sent down from Versienna to regional capitals in order to more thoroughly be able to enforce these new fines and free up the time of the Central Government.

Finally, Versienna's Green Initiative and city cleanup agenda is making progress across the nation, and several community members have suggested utilizing several abandoned buildings to house the homeless of large Eulumian cities. It has been suggested to use monetary donations provided to charities to help with the necessary remodeling of suitable buildings in select locations to provide the necessary amenities such as Air Conditioning, dehumidifiers, clean water, plumbing, electricity, interner access, working kitchens, and a small medical room with basic medicinal supplies. Clothes, bed, and Furniture donations will be gathered up and used to furnish these new establishments across the nation in order to provide a home for the current homeless population of Eulumia, and give them a chance to get back onto their feet. Charities and local city officials will be the primary overseers of these establishments and in the first few months to years, there will be a small police presence to deter individuals from stealing and looting these establishments. City officials will help with aligning jobs for individuals whom opt to reside within these new establishments based upon previous experience and current community needs, helping to provide an income to these individuals until they are fit to move out and return to society independently.

House of the Imperial Duma, Vyborg, Romanovskaya

The Danish Prime Minister, Lotte Sørensen touched down at Seleznyovo International Airport where she was greeted by Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandr Eybozhenko. He escorted her to the car that will take them to the House of the Imperial Duma where they will meet other members of the Romanovan government including Prime Minister, Daria Shchegolyayeva and Minister of Finance Tatiana Konovalova.

Once Sørensen arrives at the destination, she walks up the steps to the entrance of the House of the Imperial Duma, where Shchegolyayeva stands waiting to greet her. They shake hands and pose for photographs taken by the awaiting press. They then walked inside the building to a meeting room where inside Sørensen was also greeting by the Finance Minister. They each sat down and began the meeting.

Shchegolyayeva: "Prime Minister Sørensen it is so good to finally host you here in Vyborg. Myself and my colleagues here have been very eager to get our discussions with regards to trade back underway. As you may remember we hit a few problems during our previous rounds of discussions. Of course we have put forward what we would like to see with regards to trade so if you can put forward your proposals we can then work on where we share common ground and where we can come to a compromise.

Sørensen: "Prime Minister Shchegolyayeva I am eager to resume the talks on the economic cooperation of our countries as well. But before we begin the discussions, allow me to congratulate you once more on your election as the Prime Minister of Romanovskaya; I am glad to see another fellow woman holding such a position.

With regards to the previous round of discussions, I'd like to reiterate that Denmark is very much interested in furthering economic cooperation with Romanovskaya. We believe there are ways how to achieve that and still remain true to some of the policies that are the cornerstone of my government's platform. At the moment, I can tell you that we are ready to implement several changes to our bilateral policy towards Romanovskaya. First off, we are ready to provide appropriate protection of intellectual property rights of Romanovan businesses and citizens alike. We further propose to liberalise work visas for citizens of our respective nations and to lower import and export tariffs and related fees to a minimum with the particular tariff rates being negotiable.

What are your views on these proposals?"

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary when the sun graced the beaches of Malao on the morning of July 23rd. But that was far from the only event that unfolded in the ancient city today. For today was the day that the very first Conventsiya Federatsiyaya would be held. Ever. From wide and far, delegates representing the many voices of the Imperial Federation gathered in the city. Although Malao nowadays numbers slightly under 250.000 residents, hundreds of thousands gathered together in front of, and nearby, the Temple Complex of Malao. On estimate, there were near double the residents of Malao itself there. Hundreds of millions more would watch the events from the comfort of their homes. The more distinguished guests, however, they weren’t just part of the crowd. They don’t arrive by land at all; instead, all representatives of the Strava ye Waciliya and the Strava Visokaya are brought in two huge ships to the port of Malao, where they are granted special seats. By air, the Uspekai , representatives of Infiny’s 25 Federal States themselves, arrive. Each state had a single Uspeka speaking on its behalf.

There was always ever one candidate: Valeria Makonnen, the sister of former Emperor Ras Tafari Makonnen, and former sister-in-law to Empress Valeria Jezici-Makonnen, who would play a crucial role in the transition of the crown.

The Unversiteiya Sachiyela, usually the most prestigious university in all of Infiny, was empty. Its main hall, the ancient seat of Infiny’s monarchs, was to return to that temporarily once more.

The Empress, Valeria I, entered the building as the politicians bowed. She wore a magnificent blue gown with the twin yellow sashes, symbolizing the Infinian cross of democratic rule. On her head, she wore the Tiara, the Corona Cisarya, which before her was last worn by Empress Micaya IV in 1830. To her left, and to her right, the representatives of the Imperial Federation were seated, with the Senators behind them. She walked to the throne, where the Imperial Cabinet awaited her on both sides of a large altar, the Judges of the Constitutional Court behind it. All were dressed in a mixture of white-tie combined with traditional Infinian garments, such as their jacket and jewelry. Naturally, it depended on rank and position on how exactly the people were dressed, but they all were in black, yellow, and blue, the colors of the Imperial Federation. Ceremonially, the Uspekai of each state came towards the altar. The Chief Justice of the Infinian Supreme Court, Mosi Lysenko, called them forward one by one in order of entry into the Imperial Federation.

From the Uspeka of Suiyeti to the Uspeka of Zapano, each stepped forward and saluted the Empress.

For Empire and Empress!

The Empress turned to the hall, addressing the Democratic Representatives of the Imperial Federation.

‘My esteemed colleagues, my compatriots, my friends. I feel nothing but pride to pass on the torch to my successor, and, in doing so, solidify the democratic fundament that is at the core of this nation and of our existence. We’ve been through endless tribulations as a nation, and we are facing enormous tribulations now. But the course of action is now set in these here sacred stones. Here, in your witness, we decisively do what’s right, which is affirming the popular sovereignty of all those who reside on Infinian soil. We witness that all Infinians are created equal. Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, or wealth. Our history has been pushed forward to this moment as we have always been driven to assert that very fact. Our destiny may never be forgotten, as we shine Malao’s beacon of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness over the Imperial Federation and over the world.’

She looks at the door, her mouth shut. The judges of the Supreme Court behind her, the cabinet of Prime Minister Lena Cyseia around her. Surrounding them all, the Uspeka of the twenty-five federal subject states which make up the imperial Federation, all in front of 560 representatives and the 100 senators. The doors open, and six ceremonial guards walk in, escorting a royal figure. She gracefully walks up to the altar and kneels. She was the lone candidate to succeed Valeria I, the soon-to-be Valeria II.

She was not dressed in any Imperial robes or jewelry, as she lacked the title needed to do so. She was dressed in a simple black dress, as was expected. The accessories would soon follow.

Valeria I:
Valeria, chosen one. Are you prepared?

Valeria Makonnen:
Yes, your Highness.

Valeria I:
May you gain the grace of the people.

Chief Justice Mosi Lysenko

With this rite complete, the members of the Strava ye Waciliya rose. Although she stood with a calm demeanor, Valeria was screaming inside. What would happen if she wouldn’t procure a majority? What would happen to the Imperial Federation, would the system fail? No, no, no, don’t think those thoughts. Her allies hold a vast majority, and she ran unopposed, there can’t be any way! It is simply unthinkable, impossible!

Members of the Strava walked towards the Altar, where Valeria remained kneeled, looking at the current Empress, her back turned from the democratic process. Every member had two options, either vote yes, or no. They would be put in a massive jar, adorned with an Infinian Tryzub. Then, each member of the Supreme Court had to count them, separately, to prevent electoral fraud.

Time went by as Valeria remained kneeled at the altar. the Empress looked into the room, unflinching. The representatives had resumed their seats, the senators stared from a distance, as the Supreme Constitutional Court had excused itself. After what seemed ages, they returned to the temple hall.

The Chief Justice, Mosi Lysenko, spoke.

This jar, has the truth of democracy. Valeria, with 550 yeas, has the trust of the Infinian people.

After hearing these words, Valeria rose, turned, and bowed. Then she turned to the Empress and the judges behind her once more. Lysenko’s voice echoed through the halls of the ancient temple once more.

Uspekai! Judge the chosen one with your wisdom!

The Federal States of Infiny

The delegates stepped forward, one after the first. Suiyeti was first.

Za Suiyeti... vorim!

Valeria seemed calm for now. Vorim. It shall be. One down.

Za Aran.... vorim!

Za Ogaden... vorim!

One after another, the Uspekai stepped forward. The vote had to be unanimous. As Valeria attempted as much as possible to suspend her sweat, the drips betrayed her nervosity.

Galeen. No surprise. Vidiniya. Polno. Rolnica. Sediwy. Dilugia. South Azyl. Azyl. Galaga. Yuzno. Gazci.

She got nervous. The states said were northern states, she knew she could be assured of their support. But states were approaching which had been critical of her in the past, to the point of threatening not to vote for her.
A woman stepped forward.

Za Culek... vorim!

Thank the heavens, that’s one. Still, Culek was a liberal state - it housed Nairobi. Once again, hardly surprising. She was worried which one was next, she prayed for Darica, because it would be longer until she would have to face Luo, the smallest state of the Imperial Federation, but also the most antagonistic to her policies.

A man stepped forward.

Za Darica... vorim!

... It was time. She saw a woman, who looked much like her. Would she break the convention?

Za Luo.... vorim!

...She had braced herself, only to hear the word vorim. It shall be. They supported her. She felt so relieved that she could nearly cry, but she knew she had to remain composed.

Uganda. Ahsei. Hailu. Rhapta. Serceto. Gora. Jezior.

Zapano.

She had heard the word vorim uttered 25 times. The final hurdle was overcome.

Prime Minister Lena Cyseia

She did not have time to process what had just happened. The nerves faded, as the Empress summoned her to bow down. From behind her, Mosi Lysenko handed her the Imperial Jewellery as she summoned the Prime Minister, Ms. Lena Cyseia.

Silence.

As the Supreme Judge adorned the Empress-Elect with jewels, Valeria stepped back as Prime Minister Lena Cyseia took her place, holding Micaya’s tiara.

Valeria bowed down one last time. An Empress could only be crowned by civilian authority. The highest civilian authority. The Prime Minister herself.

‘By the powers vested in me, harnessed from entrustment by the Infinian populace, it is hereby in witness that Valeria Cecilia Alexandria Makonnen is crowned Empress of the Imperial Federation of Infiny. Please repeat the following oath.’

‘I, Valeria Cecilia Alexandria Makonnen’
Ras, Valeriya Ceciliya Alexandriya Makonnen

Swear, to the people of the Imperial Federation
Caliyatsim, zu narom ye Federatsiya Cisarya

That I shall preserve and uphold the Freedoms and Constitution of the Imperial Federation of Infiny
Tasi ras xafidixim y degifixim Sevobi y Constitutiya ye Federatsiya Cisarya ye Infiniya

That I shall defend and preserve the independence of the realm to the best of my ability
Tasi ras difacixim y xafidixim independenciya ye sphera zu luchi ye moyo carti

That I shall protect the freedom and the rights of all Infinian citizens and residents
Tasi ras ilalixim sevoba y cenyas ye alhnunis gradani y degani Infiniyavi

And that I shall employ all the lawful means at my disposal to preserve and promote prosperity for all.
Y tasi ras nanimayixim alhunis sharciyi serestvi zei moyo metali zu xafidixim y prasuvixim roscavi za alhunis.

Mosi Lysenko turned towards the audience.

Her Imperial Majesty, Valeria II, by the grace of the stars which shine upon the Infinian Realm, Empress of Infinia and her Federal States, elected by the Chosen, Guardian of Justice!

Emira of Zanzibar,
Tahlela II

Upon these words, Emira Tahlela II of Zanzibar walked through the doors of the ancient hall. She had a remarkable appearance, nothing quite like the Uspekai or the democratic representatives of the Imperial Federation. Instead, she wore Zanzibari jewelry, with a large amount of local make-up, resembling ancient Zanzibari warrior culture.

She walked to the front of the hall, where now Empress Valeria II stood. They respectfully looked at one another, after which she bowed down, reaffirming the loyalty of the island emirate to the Imperial Federation.

The reign of Valeria as Empress of Infiny and Lady of Zanzibar had officially begun.

Albus taradrus

Article by The Taradrusian Gazette

Centari (Parliament) member Keria Campbell in the July Centari meeting used her speaking time to bring up a proposal that she and the majority of the Centari were discussing. She and her fellow members discussed the possibility of making the state parks into national parks, in order to give proper funding.

The previous policy was that of each state park was run by the states/region, the regions of Albus Taradrus simply did not see the worth in spending millions on parks, since their state of disrepair and the costs of upkeep did not seem worth it. Because of this lack of funding, parks like Paparoa and Rakiura were flooded with trash and illegal activity. Keria and her fellow members brought the issue in front of William Russell, who promptly held a Centari vote. The vote resulted in a victory for Keria, with 36 votings in favor of making state parks national and 23 votings towards keeping them a state issue. William Russell promptly took the issue to Alexandria the Third, who without hesitation signed the motion.

As of today, the state parks will become the National Parks of Albus Taradrus, with 250 National Guard and all 350 park Rangers being transitioned into the National Parks Service. The new head of the National Parks Service, Greg O’Neill announced that there will be 400 new job openings for Park Rangers, and the National Parks Service have been granted 5 Billion Regional Credits to restore and upkeep the parks for the first year. O’Neill said in an Interview with the Auckland Star, “We are grateful to Keria and the Queen for not only passing this momentous new evolvement of our preservation of our beautiful country but granting us the 5 billion. This will provide hopefully enough money to properly budget the new park system, where we can provide good salaries, clean up the ruined parks, and keep the parks appealing and safe!” O’Neill later followed up, “Our country is one of a kind, I encourage everyone around the world to visit. We have practically everything, sky-piercing mountains, hellish deep gorges, crystal clear beaches, and rows of rolling hills coated in assortments of flowers. Everyone is a Taradrusian at heart, so give us a visit!”

At a conference late last night Queen Alexandria the Third of Wellington proclaimed in front of her press council, “The now National Parks are some of the greatest wonders of the world and the antithesis of Albus Taradrus, her parks display our countries beauty, strength, and honour. Funding these parks is something my father, Thomas the Second of Tauranga would appreciate immensely, and I hope wherever he is in Tasmania is safe. He often took our family on walks and was a proponent of nature and the great outdoors. At these parks, your social status, wealth, and race do not matter, at these parks you are a Taradrusian.”

House of the Imperial Duma, Vyborg, Romanovskaya

Shchegolyayeva: Thank you for your kind words Prime Minister Sørensen. It is certainly a great honour to be able to join the elite group of female leaders across the world.

I think that the proposals you put forward are quite fair. Certainly one can easily see how those measures will be mutually beneficial to both of our nations. As such we are in favour of all of your proposals. Now one point of contention that we had in our prior meeting was the issue of travel visas for Romanovan citizens in Denmark. As you have not raised this measure I can assume that is something you will not consider changing. We have decided to compromise on this demand. Perhaps the suspension of duties on imports transiting through Denmark that are destined for Romanovskaya. We can limit this to imports being transported by the Maersk shipping company. This way we can receive our imports at a cheaper price while increasing shipping traffic for one of your own companies, surely creating more jobs in Denmark.

I am eager to know what you think of the proposal.

That I shall preserve and uphold the Freedoms and Constitution of the Imperial Federation of Infiny

Project: MSU Quantum Computer

Moscow — The Research Computing Center (along with the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics) of Moscow State University (MSU) has announced the construction of the first Ultra-Powerful Quantum Computer in the world. Many labs across the world already experiment with quantum computers at a much smaller scale. This project aims at building the first general-purpose quantum computer. Up until now, many technical challenges have kept a computer of this kind from becoming a reality.

These computers take advantage of the "fact that the laws of conventional physics break down at the smallest scales. Subatomic particles can be in different physical states at the same time, and pairs of particles can be mysteriously linked or 'entangled'. Exploiting these weird characteristics makes it possible, in theory, to carry out vast numbers of calculations simultaneously." (Source down below)

There is a number of different ways to approach quantum computing. In this specific project, the developers will use the “microwave trapped ion” technology. In this technology, "[t]he quantum data (qubits) is encoded in ions (electrically charged atoms of the rare element ytterbium) which are held in place by magnets. | The whole device is bathed in microwave radiation, which can be tuned to different frequencies to change the state of the ions and therefore process stored data. A large quantum computer is built up from smaller modules, with electric fields driving the ions between modules." (Source down below)

There are many practical uses for this new kind of computing. It could be used by the financial sector or even by the energy sector and the development of new medicine. Since the technology is still on its early stages, it is too soon to truly grasp the full practicality of a general-purpose quantum computer. The cost of this prototype is set to cost USD$130 million and it will take 2 IC years (104 RL days) for the facility to be fully functional. The facility shall be located within the university's campus at Moscow. The State Committee for Science and Technology of the Soviet Goverment will help to fund the project and has further pledged another USD$350 million over the next 5 IC years (260 RL days) for the research of quantum computing.

Board of Revenues

The Board of Revenues has banned the import, export, selling, purchasing or use of glitter completely. Stores selling glitter are expected to remove all stockpiles from their stores, stop the selling or ordering of glitter, and properly dispose of it as per the relevant guidelines.

The law will take effect on the 10th of August. Any stores found still possessing glitter will be punished severely via fining (with a penalty ceiling of $1,000,000 QSD) or imprisonment of up to 12 years for contravention of the Water Pollution Prevention Act of 2017.

The majority of glitter is made from plastic copolymer sheets that are then fused with coloured foil, and due to its composition and small size, glitter is considered as a type of microplastic. They tend to be too small to be filtered out in water treatment plants, making them impossible to remove.

The Board of Revenues has cooperated with various universities to formulate proper disposal procedures for glitter, or other small pieces of plastic. "Proper disposal of glitter consists of immersing all pieces in some type of adhesive, glue or resin to cluster it into one large piece, then leaving it within a sealed container such as a sealed bag, and disposal in a nearby garbage bin with a lid."

Laws EA-202001 and EA-202002 Passed

EA-202001
Law EA-202001, also known as the Anti-Smear Act, was put into place by Empress Akiiyo earlier today. This law prohibits any smearing or slander against not only the government of Japan, or the Empress, but also nations that Japan deems as allies. The nations do not have to be close allies to be considered under this act.

EA-202002
Law EA-202002, also known as Imperial Military Act XXIV, has made military service mandatory for all persons over age of 18 that are not injured or have disabilities that prevent service. Any person older than 18 that can serve will be put through training and will serve a minimum of 3 years in service. An individual may stay in the military for longer, but the three year minimum must be met, unless the person is not physically or mentally capable of doing so. For those who back out before the minimum without a medical discharge will be placed into prison for the remainder of their service minimum. This law only applies to those who will turn 18 after the passing of this law and to those that are at or below the age of 25 at the time of this law's passing.

Title: Soviet-Romanov Summit

Moscow — The Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent an official request to the Government of Romanovskaya with the goal of setting up a bilateral meeting. Such meeting should have the goal is normalizing relations and reducing tensions between both countries. The Soviet Government has acknowledged the Romanov Government's efforts in normalizing relations in the past, calling them "important steps towards a peaceful coexistence with our neighbors." The official stance of the Soviet Foreign Ministry is that, although both nations have had a difficult and often times hostile past, for the sake of future generations of Russians an effort should be made to create a future that doesn't mirror that past. If the request for a summit is accepted Comrade Sokolov, Foreign Minister, will attend on behalf of the Soviet Union.

Board of War

The Board of War has officially raised an Ainu unit in the Qing Military, as part of an attempt to increase the number of troops dedicated to arctic combat.

The Board of War will reportedly source 4,500 Ainus, who will then undergo rigorous forms of training, modelled after that of the Brigade of Gurkhas. Pay and benefits will reportedly be increased as a means to attract more fit and talented candidates, with benefits including free visas for family, a fief involving a tract of land in Outer Manchuria, free education for children, healthcare and insurance, alongside a generous pension plan. It also includes plans to streamline immigration into the Qing, should an Ainu household decide to uproot their lives and start afresh. Any remittances sent home will also be topped up by a government payment of $1500 QSD.

Recruitment processes involve a series of physical tests, written and numeracy assessments, and an interview. The first Ainu unit, named the Imperial Ainu Brigade, will be rendered combat-ready within the next 2 years and deployed within the same year. The Board of War will also make plans to open a recruitment office in Beihaidao to attract more Ainus into joining the armed forces. Aggressive sinicization programmes have been in play for almost a century, as a means to consolidate the Qing's ideological hold over the areas. As the older, Meiji-influenced generation begins to die out, the young increasingly begin to identify as part of the Qing. Such a move will be beneficial to the governance of the country, ensuring a constant stream of eager and willing patriots, ready to bear arms against a foreign threat.

Traditionally, the Ainu have lived in Beihaidao, Sakhalin Island, and the Nanqian Islands - all of which lie in the Qing's territories. Official estimates place the total Ainu population in the Qing at 25,000 people, but other estimates place the population at >200,000, as the near-total assimilation of the ethnicity into Qing society has resulted in many individuals with Ainu heritage having no knowledge of their ancestry.

The bravery, tenacity, and ferocity of Ainus served as a major contributing factor to their selection and induction into the Qing Armed Forces. During World War II, Australian troops had fought Ainu troops in the Kokoda Track campaign, and were surprised by the physique and fighting prowess of the first Ainu troops they encountered.

"Green Berets" Instated by Versienna

Eulumia's green initiatives have seen massive public and government support alike, with federal and private entities alike making astounding progress in cleaning the beaches and waters around the peninsular Malaysia region and Singapore. This task is no easy feat however due to the high volume nature of the shipping lanes of the Malacca Strait giving way to thousands of vessels from around the glove passing through this strait between the peninsular Malaysia region and island of Sumatra. The central government in Versienna passed legislation two years prior enabling the creation of the Commerce Federation, a private corporate entity overseeing all major international shipping companies within the nation, as well as policing the countless shipping lanes crisscrossing Eulumian waters. Despite the oversight of both Versienna and the Commerce Federation, the passageways of the highly traversed water routes become polluted due to such a high volume of sea faring traffic passing through, and it becomes nearly impossible to police every little detail. That is exactly why the Eulumian Senate has voted in favor of creating an elite task force of specialized personnel dubbed the "Green Berets", hand selected from the Eulumian military for their skills and drive to help preserve the Eulumian environment; initially by some as "completely uncalled for", "a draconian measure", and "an unecessary overreaction", has nonetheless received support of the Senate and Office of the Grand Chancellor alike. The Eulumian Green Berets will be spread throughout the nation, primarily at major shipping routes throughout the archipelago in attempts to monitor garbage dumping by numerous foreign and domestic vessels alike that have been detailed by various Commerce Federation reports. It is currently believed that vessels will dump their garbage in busy shipping lanes due to the wakes crated by ships passing by assisting with sinking the waste faster, thus eliminating the need to dock in Eulumian ports and pay a fee for proper garbage disposal, helping foreign and domestic companies alike to retain more revenue.

The Eulumian Green Berets will be working closely with the Commerce Federation and will apprehend any and all vessels found to be or strongly suspected of garbage dumping within Eulumian territorial waters, and detaining vessel personnel through any means necessary should they be found guilty regardless of nationality. All individuals found to the be guilty will be subject to fines and placed within Eulumian holding facilities while officials in their home nation will be contacted immediately. Nations' whose vessels are found to be frequent garbage dumpers within Eulumian waters will be subjected to an increase in tariffs; should incidences continue to occur, Versienna retains the right to revoke access to said nation's access to Eulumian shipping lanes, and any vessels bearing said nation's flag will be detained immediately via Eulumian Naval vessels and will be docked immediately within the nearest major port. Domestic companies found to be guilty of garbage dumping will be immediately subjected to steep fines and increased monitoring from the Commerce Federation. Any further incidents will be sent directly to Versienna for immediate and decisive actions, potentially leading up to said company being dissolved entirely and its assets seized by the state and redistributed to similar companies or retained for federal/public use. Versienna will not tolerate any further destruction to the Eulumian environment and will be taking any future offenses very seriously.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Draconian Legislation Pushed Through Senate

One of the major pillars of the Eulumian Republic is the freedom of speech and expression with a notable exception to hate speech and remarks intended to slander or harm any individuals, with a notable absence regarding institutions and the state itself. Fierce debates throughout the Senate for several weeks finally concluded with the majority voting in favor of this legislation, hoping that the desecration and destruction of Eulumian national symbols will help to create a more unified national identity, though numerous individuals have voiced their concerns with this ideology, arguing it will only create more decisive lines between the hundreds of ethnic groups within the vast Archipelago Republic. Despite this, Versienna has officially declared the desecration or destruction of the national flag or national symbols to be illegal with repercussions decided by a tier system based upon the severity of the offense. Punishments include: Community service, equity-based fines, and time spent in federal prison.

Additionally, Versienna has voted in favor of reinstating Capital Punishment for those convicted and found to be guilty of premeditated murder, as the taking of one or more individual's life is defined as the highest of crimes thought to be possible as defined by the Eulumian constitution.

Furthermore, Eulumia will be reinstating the compulsory military service for all Eulumian citizens following its repeal in the early 1990's. This reinstatement of compulsory military service comes not long after the same act was passed in Tokyo, Japan (Inouye). The law states that all abled bodied and able minded Eulumian citizens of the age 18 must enter into military service by the date of their 18th birthday or by the date of their completion of secondary education, and must serve for a minimum of 2 years, however may choose to serve for longer. Individuals that are currently 18, 19, and 20 will be subject to this legislation by the first of October, allowing ample time for individuals affected to make arrangements. Those found to be attempting to escape from service will be fined and made to serve their 2 years to the nation in other ways that may include contributing to the nation's green initiatives. This law has been passed by Versienna for reasons of national security.

Several prominent media sources and outlets have been quick to criticize the Eulumian government with this decision in conjunction with the Anti-Desecration Act and creation of the Green Berets as acts against the people and transgressions of the Eulumian citizens' constitutionally guaranteed rights. However it is commonly believed that Eulumia is reinstating compulsory military service in an attempt to garner greater national security, national pride, and act as deterrent for Japan, to keep the competing island nation out of SouthEast Asia as Versienna remembers the Japanese occupation of World War II all too well, and wishes to avoid the same fate again. Versienna has not taken an official stance and all government officials that have been questioned declined to answer.

President Rafael Ilario,

I am astounded by the technological advancements of your great Republic in addition to your stringent measures to further protect and maintain your environments, truly an impressive feat in and of itself. Furstia is truly a leading nation when it comes to the future of Africa and I eagerly await to see what role Furstia will play on the interntional stage when it comes to geopolitics in the rest of Africa. However this is not why I am writing you, I am interested in inviting you to a personal meeting here in Singapore to discuss matters of state. Specifically, furthering ties between Furstia and Eulumia with programs such as state sanctioned international study abroad programs through our top universities, establishing sister cities, working together on our green initiatives, and establishing trade deals and working towards open borders between Furstia and Eulumia.

I believe that Puerto Deseado and Versienna both have fairly similar outlooks and longterm agendas when it comes to the global stage and I believe it to be mutually beneficial for us to work together on aforementioned matters, though by no means constrained to those few examples. I look forwards greatly to correspondence from you regarding this proposal and I hope to host you soon in the jewel of Eulumia, Singapore.

Beijing, Da qing empire has recently banned the manufacturing, sell, and use of glitter in any form and for any reason due to the harmful effects and lack biodegradable abilities of the materials, thus leading to 2014 studies from Beijing finding more than 5 trillion pieces of microplastics assumed to be largely from glitter in the world's oceans, although they have been quoted as saying "it is thought that this value is a gross underestimate". With the glitter pollution harming not only the world's aquatic ecosystems, it is nearly impossible to filter said microplastics from water treatment facilities and plants, posing a hazard to individuals residing within cities as well due to the microplastic contaminating water supplies. Proper disposal of glitter has been effortlessly demonstrated by officials from Da qing empire and Eulumian officials are mandating citizens and nationals throughout Eulumia follow proper containment and disposal procedures. Versienna is strongly encouraging nations of the world to follow the excellent example set by Beijing.

Factories manufacturing, selling, exporting, or importing glitter after August 20 will be fined 650,000 to 5,000,000 USD. Individuals acting by themselves or with a small group making or selling glitter will be fined 500-10,000 USD.

All businesses/factories with glitter shall take glitter to federal government glitter disposal sites. Businesses/factories that fail to take glitter to federal approved government glitter disposal sites shall be fined 100,000-1,000,000.

First Nation Tribal Members are exempt from the making glitter ban if they use it for traditional purposes.
