ICE HOCKEY HEROES HONOURED

Romanovan Ice Hockey star and captain Edgar Burdukovsky, along with team manager Vyacheslav Belikov, attended a ceremony at the Princely Palace at the invitation of H.S.H Princess Zephyrine I. They have been awarded the Imperial Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky for their achievement of winning the International Ice Hockey League earlier in the year, as well as their services to Ice Hockey and sport as a whole in Romanovskaya.

Edgar Burdukovsky issued a brief statement about the award after the ceremony, saying: “I’m very proud to receive it. It’s a nice day to spend with my family – my wife and parents are here. I’d have liked to have brought my kids but I think they’re a bit young. I’ll show them the medal when I get home.”

Edgar and wife Alyona are the proud parents of three-year-old Lara and 18-month-old Feliks.

The player’s career-defining moment came in the summer of 2019 when he captained Romanovskaya to its first ever tournament win in the International Ice Hockey League.

Prior to the tournament, Edgar had given a press conference saying he planned to retire once the tournament was over due to the pain caused by an old injury.

But after his monumental performances for Romanovskaya in the tournament, he has since gone on to say he will do everything he can to enable himself to keep playing.

Abram Alyokhin, the chief executive of Ice Hockey Romanovskaya, said: “Everyone involved in ice hockey in Romanovskaya joins in congratulating Edgar and Vyacheslav and thanking them sincerely for the incredible service to ice hockey and to charity which led to their deserved award.

“It goes without saying that we all have our fingers crossed that a fully fit and healthy Edgar will compete on the rink once again. However, today is a reminder of the wider impact of his efforts and achievements and of the fantastic role model he is for young people, not only in Romanovskaya, but across the world.”

Vyacheslav Belikov, who has been manager of the Romanovskaya Ice Hockey Team since 2007 also spoke briefly to the press saying; "It's humbling, I'm hugely proud of what's happened," he said.

He was recognised for his services to Romanovan ice hockey, going back to when he started out as a player in 1977 for Seleznyovo where he spent his entire playing career before going on to manage them.

After managing Seleznyovo, he then went on to manage league giants Vyborg in 1993 and lead them to multiple league titles.

After being announced as manager of the Romanovan National Team in 2007, he said it was a "dream come true and an honour".

‘Climate strike’: Thousands protest across UKOB
~ OBBC News

Thousands of people around the United Kingdom of Orange-Bourgogne have joined a nation-wide climate change protest, with pupils walking out of schools and workers downing tools to demand action.

Miss Anna Tailor, a co-founder of the OB Environment Network said it was “surprisingly easy” to persuade people to show up. Hundreds of schoolchildren took part in the strike even though Education Secretary Gordon Darling MP (SRF) had asked them to “stay in school”. The Education Secretary was heard saying “[They] should be learning, they should not be bunking off and it’s very irresponsible for people to encourage children to do so”.

Ms Tailor responded by saying that “these children protest because they realise that if nothing is done at once, they will no longer have a world to learn about”. She later added to this statement that “It is completely right for every single person to stand up and fight for our environment. There is no ‘Planet B’ that we can go to if our climate gets so hostile we can no longer live on earth”.

The protestors call for radical changes in government policies and behavioural habits of the ‘common people’. They want, amongst other things, a total ban on flights inside the British Isles; a compulsory reduction in the amount of meat a person will be able to buy every week; and a mandatory programme to install solar panels in each household.

Deputy Prime Minister John Brand MP (Vox Populi) has promised to look into the demands of these protestors, and will come back to them within a “reasonable time”. Chancellor of the Exchequer Norman Lamont MP has warned fellow Members of the Lower House that they should also think about the costs these changes to society could bring along. In a statement, his office made it clear that there are “no concrete proposals brought forward yet by the Deputy Prime Minister”. Therefore, the Department will not look into the costs as of now.

On the other hand, Sir Nathan Sterling, Governor of the Bank of Orange-Bourgogne, made it clear that the economy will likely suffer a lot if the demands that will be met are too revolutionary or set to be implemented too quickly. He also referred in a statement to the Inclusive Society Act, for which he still claims businesses have too little time to prepare.

More on this as it develops.

Climate Strike in Infiny; citizens everywhere take the streets

Today, in a moving spectacle, many across Infiny have gone on strike for the fate of the world. In an appeal to Infiny and all nations of the earth, they join those beyond the borders of the Imperial Federation in the struggle for a liveable world. The largest protests, in Mogadishu, Nairobi, Finfinne and Mizima, were joined by thousands, scattered across the many smaller cities and villages of Infiny. Young and old join in a common cause to keep the world safe for themselves, their fellow humans, and posterity.

The strikes enjoy plenty of support, both in the public opinion and in the government. The ruling Poko y Natura Partiya has stated that it supports the march, and that is supports skipping school or work in this specific case to raise a cry that the world is developing in a destructive way. Prime Minister Lena Cyseia of the largest party, the Uniya ye Socialixa y Progressivixa, has stated that 'although in my position it would be most odd to declare myself in favor of skipping school, the length that many young ones are willing to go is truly impressive.' She refuses to speak of any action against children skipping school, nor does she explicitly support the action. Various other parties, mostly located on the center-left, have also endorsed the strikes, while parties on the right are generally more skeptic towards it. Former Prime Minister Fabio Afrax of the liberal Filash Rivoy has commented that 'it would be best if these actions did not disrupt the rule of law.' Several Madaxi have outright condemned the protests, mostly focussing themselves on the people's disobedience towards their duties.

Banning mobile devices while cycling fails to gain support

The debate had been raging for several week, as protestors both in favor and against a bill took to the streets to express their support. The matter? A ban on checking mobile devices while cycling. It was a bill issued by the Center-left Aliyasiya ye Ifitinixa in the state of Galeen, and gained wide support from the Social-Democratic USP, while it was mainly opposed by the Green PNP. While proponents held that the bill would increase driver safety throughout Galeen, while its opponents maintained that the bill would be little but an unnecessary authoritarian restriction on the free life of Infinians in Galeen. The governor of Galeen, Shidane Iago, had already expressed himself in favor of the bill and urged Social-Democrats in the State Senate, the Sobiraniya Dravaya, to vote in favor of it.

Of the 90 State Senators, a tight vote resulted in 44 senators voting in favor and 46 voting against the bill. The PNP, the main opponent of this bill, were aided by Filash Rivoy, and 4 rebel senators from the Cisarya Partiya ye Infiniya and 7 rebels from the Uniya ye Socialixa y Progressivixa. The idea, that the ban is not the perfect solution for this bill, makes the against vote significantly stronger. After the vote, Ms. Kay Skiliyar, the leader of the PNP in the Galeen State Senate and staunch opponent of the bill, victoriously stated 'The bill is not directed towards actually addressing the issues of people not watching traffic - it addresses the issue of people forcing authoritarian views upon others on their own negative experiences. That is not related to any concept of neither safety nor common sense, nor democracy, and passing this bill would have been a major step in a dark path to walk down.'

The CBPA Group of Singapore has been leading efforts to raise funds for the islands of the Marti Republic after Hurricane Emilia passed through. The group said they wanted to send some aid to the people of the islands such as food, water and basic necessities after the hurricane. Larissa Wang, spokesperson for the group, said the group had an original goal of $100,000 but that the goal has already been met and so they have doubled the goal to $200,000.

"With this money we will buy canned foods, water bottles, blankets, clothes and other supplies for the effected people in the Marti Republic and will ship them over there with a group of volunteers and pass the supplies out to the effected communities and also help clean up any debris."

A large number of local churches and temples have stepped up to partner with the organization and have set up donation boxes for the cause. The organization's goal is to promote peace and cooperation between the two religious societies in Singapore and promote brotherhood amongst each other and the director of the organization stated that "by helping others we achieve a sense of brotherhood and of accomplishment amongst each other and learn that we share a similar interest for the wellbeing of all people and can come together in times of need." In a surprise announcement from Mayor Lewis Zhao of Singapore City, it was declared that the city shall be donating $50,000 to the CBPAS group to further help their aid efforts. The CBPAS is expected to depart early next week for the island nation with the aid supplies and a team of around 50 volunteers.

Prime Minister Linlun Daw also took notice of the group's efforts and when asked by the Naypyidaw Branch of Irrawaddy National News to comment, he had this to say "I think what they are doing is a great thing, promoting peace and cooperation between two societies within our country while working together to help another society in need. They set a good example for the youth of our nation and for what the future can look like if we all work together for Kyawantaw."

Orange-Bourgogne to setup Environment & Climate Panel
~ OBBC News

It was announced by Mrs Caroline Jones MP, the Orange-Bourgognian Secretary of State for the Environment that his Department will consider to create an international panel on climate change and the preservation of the environment. The Secretary seeks to gain more information and ideas to tackle these "most serious issues that we are facing".

In its current format, the panel would be asked to write an annual report on climate change and the preservation of the environment. They could also be asked to write specifict reports on various subjects. These will include, amongst other things, how effective certain policies could be to tackle these problems, and the costs that may be required to finance them.

The Department seeks to reach out to every nation in the world to take part in this project. "Climate change affects each and every country, we cannot just sit and wait for others to solve these problems. For once, the world must set aside regional politics and come together to tackle the challenge before us", Mrs Jones said.

The panel will not have any formal jurisdiction or power to make decisions. Their role is quite clearly restricted to write academic reports so that the governments and officials of all nations can benefit therefrom.

The panel will be established as soon as there are experts from at least four countries willing to take a seat. The panel members will then decide amongst themselves who will become the head of the organisation, and who will work on specific reports. "It goes without saying," a spokesperson for Mrs Jones said, "that the Department will not be involved in the structure or internal procedures of the organisation, nor in the contents of the reports that are to be produced.

More information can be found on the panel's website:

The International Panel on Climate Change and the Preservation of the Environment is an independent scientific panel of experts that aims to help nations to gain information about how climate change affects the world and how to best preserve the environment. It main task is to produce scientific reports and assessments on a variety of subjects connected with climate change and the preservation of the environment.

Official Correspondence
From: HE Dr. Suhail Jassim Al-Noami, Minister of Energy
To: Mrs. Caroline Jones, MP, Secretary of State for the Environment

Dear Madam,

The United Emirates of Diadochi is interested in assisting in the creation of this proposed panel on climate change. Now, more than ever, climate change must be addressed by the world community and a panel of professional experts is an excellent first step. By 2030, the Kingdom wishes to have reduced energy use across the emirates by 30 percent and to generate at least 25 percent of its power from renewable sources, including solar, clean coal and nuclear. We also wish to eliminate waste sent to landfill within 20 years, and devise more sustainable methods of water generation.

We are very conscious of the need to create this environment to the highest environmental standards and are prepared to work with international experts to ensure it meets all requirements. We have adopted the international LEED green building certification system, with 850 projects either already certified or registered for LEED certification. The 2018 Ministry of Energy Emissions Report names several of these buildings, including KEWA’s headquarters in Al Quoz and the first ‘green’ mosque in the Islamic world, which opened in Port Saeed last year. There is also the sprawling Masdar ‘smart city’ under construction in Abu Dhabi, intended as a test-bed for new sustainable technologies.

I look forward to working with you and your Department, as well as our friends in Orange-Bourgogne in developing this international panel on climate change, and look forward to the progress we have the chance to make.

Best regards,
Suhail bin Jassim bin Ali Al-Noami

STATEMENT FROM THE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE: THE NEXT SUMMER GAMES!

It is with the greatest pride and excitement that the Infinian Olympic Committee passes the Olympic Fire on to her sister organization, the Olympic Committee of The Ottoman State! That is right, the next Olympic Games will be held in Istanbul! We can't wait to see the games unfold in the spectacular Ottoman ways that we all know and love. This finally concludes the role of the Infinian Olympic Committee. Thank you all so much for having joined us - and please, let us reassemble in Istanbul next year!

(OOC: This post was necessary due to some unclarity about the vote on the next host city for the Olympic Games. That vote was won by Bloemfontein in the Cape Republic, a nation that does not reside in Geopolity anymore. That is why the host city that came in second, Istanbul, now gets to host the Summer Olympics.)

RTEN News

The first half of the first year of the construction of Republic City has seen relatively no set-backs. Any set-backs that were present were quickly rectified. Some zoning problems arose, but Abidjan quickly set them straight. With two and a half more years of construction planned, only time will tell if the near perfect schedule will stay that way.

President Enitan Madaki passed Executive Order P1-001-A recently. The executive order sets the salaries for those in the Congress of West Africa at a certain amount every year. When decided for the next year's salary, it can be increased within reason. It is stated in the order that if an amount rises above a certain percentage from the amount set five years ago, that is the maximum amount for the next year.

“Save the nation! Save the nation!”

Cries for legitimate democracy and freedom ring out around the city of New Britain, congregating around The Residence.

Earlier today, President Henry Baker was to be questioned at a hearing regarding his involvement in the murder of Clifton Butler, his former Vice President. He did not appear at the hearing.

Aditi Sundar, a newly-elected lawmaker, chose to lead a small group of protestors down Constitution Way toward the Residence. In the past few hours, the crowd has swelled to over 5,000.

Inside The Residence, Henry Baker frowns as he looks out the window. Turning around, he greets his Director of Intelligence, Joseph Rubin.

“Well? What will placate the crowd?” asks Baker.

“Nothing. They’re quite determined to see your resignation.”

Baker sighs, his mind already whirring with ideas as to how to guarantee the most favorable outcome for himself.

“Start trying to repel them. Give them a warning, send in the riot guards. If that doesn’t work, send in the armed forces on reserve,” he commands, turning back toward the window.

RTEN Special Broadcast - The Nation's Report

Now presenting, President Enitan Madaki.

President Madaki: Thank you, to everyone that could be here today and to those who are watching this at home or online. Being that I've been in office for a total of one year, two months, and one week, I have yet to give a nation's report. As a quick introduction to what the nation's report is, it is a report given by the President in office that talks about things planned for the nation or news that needs to be presented by the President themselves. The nation's report can be expected every six months, or twenty-six weeks.

Now that that quick introduction is out of the way, I'd like to move on to our points of business. Our first point is the establishment of Republic City. While it has been looked down upon by some, it has been praised by others. The main concern is that it would only be open for the elite of the nation, and lower classes of people will not be able to reside or function in the city. I can assure you that everyone will be welcome into the city. Under my power, I will make sure it will be open to all. No matter what your background or financial status. Republic City will be a new start for West Africa.

Our second point is the new inclusion of a "selective service". While speaking with the Congress of West Africa, under guidance of my advisers, I have now put in Executive Order P1-002-A. This order will officially establish a conscription service for in times of war. It will never be used in peacetime. All citizens must register for the service at the age of 16. The maximum age to register will be set at 30 years of age. The only ways to not be conscripted through these means are that the person is outside of the age range, the person is physically or mentally unfit to serve, or they are the only child in a family. The order will be put into action nearing the end of the day and workshops and other registration events will be held across major West African cities. The guidelines are set to change as seen fit by the Congress of West Africa, but the order can not be done away with.

Our final point is the relationship with Furstia. Being that citizens across West Africa have yet to stop doing business with Furstia, instead of punishing the citizens, we have officially decided to make the final decision to not condemn Furstia. Even though it has been mentioned that West Africa has condemned Furstia, it wasn't officially put down in writing. Now, we stand firmly on their side. They have helped us through an event that we probably couldn't end on our own, at least not without much more bloodshed. I would like to meet with the leaders of Furstia in the coming months to talk with them. Being that we have now decided to not condemn Furstia, if West Africa is "punished" or made lesser than by the ISA, a vote will be held on what to do. We hope that the rest of the ISA can respect our decision, but otherwise, measures will be taken against our punishment or ridicule.

Again, thank you everyone that could make it here.

This was a R-TEN special broadcast.

INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS UNDERWAY

Romanovans at home and abroad are celebrating the 121th anniversary of Romanovskaya's Independence from the Russian Empire. This year, Romanovskaya celebrates under the theme, “Together let’s Shape the Romanovan Story.”

Romanovskaya was granted its Independence by Tsar Nicholas II of the Russian Empire on September 21, 1898.

The biggest threat to Romanovan Independence came during the Russian revolution in 1918. For many years after the Romanovan army continued to fight along the border with the then USSR. At the time, Princess Xenia I became actively involved in “the Internationalisation effort”. The Internationalisation effort was done to garner the support of the international community to support Romanovskaya in its quest to maintain its independence. Romanovskaya remained steadfast in its pursuit of protecting its sovereignty and eventually the USSR turned its attention elsewhere.

As Romanovskaya celebrates the 121th anniversary of Independence, we are reminded of the struggle and the importance of our nation’s history.

Events to celebrate Romanovskaya's Independence include a parade of lanters to be held in all major towns throughout the country, inviting all residents to take part. A number of other parades are scheduled to take place throughout the rest of the week for students representing their schools. The Prince Felix Felixovich Romanov Library in Vyborg is celebrating Independence with an exhibition entitled: “A Romanovan party: the Independence celebrations of September 21, 1900-1998.” It will be available until Sept. 30, and admission is free. In addition, as part of the celebration of the 121th Anniversary of Independence of Romanovskaya, the conference “How Romanovskaya celebrated the 25, 50, 75 and 100 anniversary of its Independence” will be held on Sept. 24 at 10 am at the National Library. It will be led by Dr. Vitomir Leonidovich Dobronravov, from the Vyborg University School of History. Shows featuring Romanovan music acts will take place throughout the week at the Von Glasenapp Theatre, Vyborg.

The Princely family were already in attendance at Peter the Great Square in Vyborg, for a religious ceremony to commemorate Independence. This was then followed by a military parade where Princess Zephyrine I inspected the troops and gave a speech to them. In the afternoon, the Princess attended the main war memorial in Romanovskaya and laid a wreath to the fallen soldiers who served Romanovskaya since its Independence. In the evening, she made a televised address to the nation, with an emphasis on promoting liberty and unity in the country. She thanked the people of Romanovskaya for "their continued support and working constructively with the Princely family". She continued, saying that "challenges may lay ahead and as a united nation, together, the people must act responsibly to ensure the future of our fine nation."

Sultan Turan the First named 'Person of the Year' by Times/ىلك كز ييلين كيشيسي اولاراك ادلانديريلان صولتان طوران

Today the Times announced that Sultan Turan the First of the Ottoman Empire has been rewarded as person of the year as his list of accomplishment surpasses anything that a single ruler could do in just the 10 year span he has been Sultan. This includes 'Uniting the Oghuz people, winning the right to host the Olympics, building a massive nuclear arsenal, liberating Kibris (Cyprus), and forming the the World Congress' as well as his countless actions as Caliph of Islam. Even playing a key role in mending Muslim-Christian relations with his ongoing cooperation with the United States, and other Christian countries. (The times cover https://i.imgur.com/Gz8W7D5.png)

Governor Chastain appeared in front of Congress today and was asked about various mismanagements of government funds. Under his watch, taxes have gone up in two consecutive quarters, which is the first time in government history that such an event has happened. It is assumed that the spending in relation to combatting climate change and drought has caused a deficit. More on this as it develops.

Deputy Prime Minister to develop “Green Strategy”
~ OBBC News

Deputy Prime Minister John Brand MP (Vox Populi) has promised that he will work ‘tirelessly’ with the Department of State for the Environment, the Department of State for Infrastructure and Energy, and others, to develop a new policy regarding climate change and preserving the environment.

The promise follows a protest march attended by thousands of concerned citizens. The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the first framework for the policy will be able to be published later this month.

NASA announces time table for Mars Mission

NASA has announced that the time table for the planned manned Mission to Mars will take place early next year to the middle of next year so as to take advantage of spring weather on the Red Planet. The mission will take take roughly seven to eight months to reach the Red Planet and will be stocked with enough supplies to reach the planet, conducted a survey and then return to Earth and use the latest computer and space craft advances known to Mankind. This will be the first time Humanity will have set foot on a different planet other than our own and the second celestial body to be set foot after the Moon. This will mark the start of what many are starting to call The Colonization Era as long-term plans call for surface habitats and Deep Space Colonies in the Earth Sphere.

Proposal for Global Sustainable Energy and Reconciliation for the Environment

The Imperial Federation is deeply concerned about the ever growing global climate crisis. For many Infinians, it is considered a vital threat to our very existence. The global demonstrations, being also in Infiny, indicate as such. The Infinian government in general, and I in particular, share this concern. If we were to combat the climate crisis, we must realize that there is no merit in proceeding to do so by ourselves. This is a logical consequence of the fact that pollution, or other climate-problematic activities or phenomena, is a cross-border issue. Therefore, this climate crisis should not divide us, for it offers the nations of the world to work together. In fact- it does not only offer a perfect opportunity - it forces us to work together.

Many fantastic initiatives to make our policies more sustainable have been launched, and I am deeply grateful for that. However, for the sake of our future, and for that of many generations to come, we can never stop fighting for the world that we all share. We have to recognize that the climate crisis is one where we can help one another and that we can reap concrete benefits if we help the other. For if any nation helps any other nation with the construction of renewable energy sites, it will improve the earth in its entirety. Climate interconnects us, and the advancement of any nation in renewable energy sources directly translates into an advancement for ourselves. I would propose that we create an agreement that can realize this, such as a systematic erosion of all barriers of trade in renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, wind mills, hydroelectric- and geothermal generators, et cetera.

To realize this vision, I would like to extend a hand to nations which Infiny has had a strained relationship with in the (recent) past, Furstia and The Ottoman State. We must set aside past rivalries in favor of something greater than mere political rivalries or ideological differences. The plight of the environment exists beyond this realm and cannot be subjected to political competition or ideological hatred. Not even the cruelest deeds, not even conflict, should infringe upon our global commitment to a better environment for humanity. The climate crisis transcends, for example, the formal condemnation of Furstia officially issued by the Infinian government. I, and I am certain that I speak for many both inside and outside the Imperial Federation, would be honored if you were to join me in creating a global, politics transcending climate initiative that we can then expand to cover the entire world, and to concentrate the many fights for the environment into one, so that we can more effectively, and in harmony, safe our future, our people, and our posterity.

Sincerely,

Lena Cyseia
Prime Minister of the Imperial Federation

Green Strategy Bill released
~ OBBC News

Secretary of State for the Environment Caroline Jones MP (Social Republican Front) introduced a Bill on the floor of the Lower House today. The Green Strategy Bill, as the legislative draft is referred to by government officials, is the result of her Department working together with dozens of others, including the Deputy Prime Minister and people how took it to the streets to demand new policies being introduced to protect the environment as we know it and to stop climate change.

The Green Strategy Bill contains a long list of measures that the Government must undertake in order to reach the aforementioned goals. Though the opposition parties do not challenge the fact that climate is changing, they are suspicious towards the to-be-introduced methods to counter them. A few of the more critically received proposals are those following below:--

1) Transportation
Public transportation must be re-nationalised, so that financial gain is no longer the primary purpose. It will also be government policy to make all public transport methods emission free within the next ten years. Furthermore, it will be mandatory for all newly created cars and lorries to use electric batteries as their source of energy. The Air Passenger Duty will be reformed. Starting next year, it will be set at Fl. 250,00 per passenger per flight.

2) Homebuilding and infrastructures
No new homes may be created in the countryside, unless it has been proven that it will not damage the environment. Additionally, no new motorways may be built in areas that are deemed as “critical” to preserve nature within Orange-Bourgogne. Homeowners will also be asked to make their houses more eco-friendly, for example, by installing solar panels.

3) Food
The livestock must be severely shrunken, in some provinces up to 50 per cent. Meat will therefore be rationed.

In the wake of a global shift toward greater green renewable power usage has prompted the Tawantinsuyu Green party to propose a bill of extensive energy reforms to the General Assemble in Cusco. This bill suggests extensive expansion of wind, solar and geothermal power. The Green party is far too small to bring the bill through the government but it looks likely that the larger Inkarri Party that holds a key position in the ruling coalition may support a revised form of the bill that's both less extreme and includes hydroelectric and nuclear power expansions as a greater focus in addition to some level or solar power expansion. Although the socially conservative Quiso party is relatively resistant to such reforms the backing of the Sapa Inca would cause many of them to either vote for it or abstain.
