Market crash comes to a halt
~ OBBC Economy
It is now a week since the Chancellor of the Exchequer allowed the Westminster City Stock Exchange (WCSE) to resume business, and it seems that we have finally reached our deepest point. Since the last two hours, the WCSE has stopped plummeting and is now more or less stable. Earlier, HM Treasury projected a crash that would last for only one day, but it can now be said that this view was too optimistic. The Orange-Bourgognian economy has shurnked with about two and a half per cent. The WCSE did slightly worse: its value has decreased with more or less three per cent.
However, it must be said that there are wide gaps between different sectors of our economy. The financial services's market, which was hit the most under the brutal regime by former Prime Minister Nichola Pankhurst, did much worse than say the rural companies that trade in cattle. The Civilian War resulted in a shortage of fresh food products like fruits and meat, meaning that the companies in these sectors were able to recover from their losses relatively quickly.
By and large, the Governor of the Bank of England said that he is "cautiously optimistic". He thinks that the Government's plans to invest - with financial support from the Union (Imperial Eagle) - will now be able to recover slowly but steadily.
Floris Blokland MP (OBU), a junior minister in the Treasury, adds to these remarks that "it is important to remember that while we suffered greatly from the Civilian War, we also have the capabilities and resources to recover from it. We have one of the best economies in the world, and we are one of the safest nations to invest in, especially now that our political struggles came to an end".
The Treasury also announced that they have no intention to close down the WCSE again as they claimed that such a move might have "even constitute more complications".
(OOC: gonna have the two avatars meet your leaders, pluvie, make it easier for Labyrnne's leaders to collect everyone lol.)
The two officials looked around the customs area with intrigue, basically window-watching as they waited. She Might Be a Fairy pointed then, at some of the people milling outside who did not seem to be natives of Labyrnna. "Hey, She Might Be a Dragon, do those people look familiar to you?"
She Might Be a Dragon sighed. "Don't point, it's rude. I don't think I know them. But yes, they don't look like they are from here. Perhaps we should see if they are here for the Cultural Exhibition as well?"
"Yes." said the smaller figure. "Let's go. I don't like being inside." The two of them headed outside, holding their robes slightly up so as to not trip over them in their hurry to try and keep up with the scholarly looking people. With a few more choice paced strides, the two managed to catch up to Pluvie's leaders. "Excuse me." said She Might Be a Dragon. "We do not mean to intrude, but good people, are you on your way to the Cultural Exhibition?"
A letter from the Pontiff's desk
A diplomatic letter was recently sent to all the major heads of state in Geopolity. It comes from a far away realm, a theocratic republic called Sancta Romana Ecclesia. It bears an exquisite orange seal depicting two crossed keys enveloped by a laurel. The letter reads as follows:
"From the office of the Pontiff.
We, the Holy Pontiff of S.R.E. bid Our greetings to you, Your Excellency. We wish to develop ties with the region in which your nation resides, with hope that such a move will be beneficial to both parties. This is why We have recently sent a diplomatic mission to the nation of Labyrnna, with the purpose of negotiating creating a Sanctan consulate there. If Your Excellency's nation is pleased to establish diplomatic relations with S.R.E., We, the Pontiff, see no obstacle to do so.
I pray to the Almighty that this will prove a beginning of peaceful coexistence and successful cooperation between the two of our regions."
I'm a bit rusty with the rp, so bear with me :p And yes, my ruler uses the royal we. I should also note that he serves only as head of state and has largely representational role.
The taller of the two figures nods. "We are two of the six Avatars from Fuzzbuckets. I felt we needed to explore a bit more. I am referred to as She Might Be A Dragon by my people, and this here is She Might Be A Fairy. You can call us Dragon and Fairy respectively for brevity's sake, however.
"Nice to meet you!" said Fairy, excitedly. "I've never been off my own island before, much less in another region other than Karma!"
She Might Be a Dragon quietly sighed, as if resigned to the fact that She Might Be a Fairy was not going to behave all that properly. She was friendly yes, but her bubbliness was not everyone's cup of tea, and Dragon knew it. Perhaps though, with this cheery lot, Fairy might ironically pick things up easier than she herself would. "Did you receive an invitation from Emperor Aphras III? We're having trouble finding out way to the festival."
“Ah well nice to meet you both!! You seem a good folk!! I’d love to hear more about these avatars sometime!!”
The other leader speaks for the first time:
“Yes it was an Aphras the 3rd who invited us here I believe. I should assume that is the same Mr. Aphras. And we are just as lost as you folk. There seem to be a lot of very different and interesting people here, but neither of us know if this is where we’re actually supposed to be. Perhaps we should seek out this Mr. Aphras the 3rd.”
"I believe that is a wise choice." said Dragon. "I also was notified of another leader from Karma who is making the trip. I believe they are from Sancta Romana Ecclesia. If we manage to find them as well, that would make things very convenient."
Fairy looked over at Dragon, and then the Leaders of Pluvie. "Good people, we told you our names. What are yours? Underneath the mask she wore was a happy smile.
Ministry of Internal Affairs building, Puerto Deseado
Minister María Vecchia was at her office, signing papers regarding recent changes in visa policies that the Government had approved in the previous days, when the phone at her desk rang.
"Vecchia speaking" she said after picking up.
"Camarada Ministra, sorry to interrupt you. We have numerous reports from the Gendarmerie that dozens of strangers are arriving at border checkpoints and port customs."
"And the problem is...?" inquired the Minister.
"Reports say that almost all, if not all of them... their passports... it seems that they come from nations that don't... exist, Comrade Minister" replied the assistant over the phone.
"Well, if they have forged documents then don't let them in. Arrest them if they insist on entering. Stop wasting my time, Mr. Saavedra, please."
"Don't hang up, Comrade, please. It... it'll sound crazy but..."
"They appear to have an endless supply of... chocolate cookies and scented candles with them... They say they come from a land called Karma."
"What? If this is some kind of joke, Comrade Saavedra, I'll have you fired. Do you understand?"
"I told you it would sound crazy but it's the truth, Comrade Minister. Come and see it yourself, please. I'm at the port customs area."
Pausing for a few seconds, the Minister replied:
"Comrade Saavedra, I will go there right away to tell you in person to come back to this building with me and remove your personal belongings from your former office. I'll see you soon."
María left her office and went to the ground floor. A government car soon took her to the port of the city. Moments after arriving, it was not difficult to notice that something strange was happening. Police and Gendarmerie officers, port workers and even passerbys had gathered close to the customs area.
"Move aside people, come on". Police officers escorting the Minister tried in vain to disperse the crowd. After walking through it with some difficulty, she saw them.
Dozens of foreign visitors wearing strange clothes, chatting amicably and giving gifts to people from the crowd that had gathered around them, each of them telling a different story of their birthplace called "Karma".
"I told you, Comrade Minister"
María turned her head and there was Mr. Saavedra, holding a small bag of chocolate cookies in his left hand.
“Oh? I hadn’t realized we had other company!! How wonderful!!”
“As for our names, silly us we’re so slow sometimes, I’m Agrad, and this is Linsky.”
He points to the other leader.
“Now where to look for the other Karmans. I suppose they’re probably back at the docks come to think of it. We may want to head back there to meet them.”

INTERNATIONAL BEER AND PRETZELS FESTIVAL, SALZBURG
In light of the scars the nation has seen during the recently ended danubian civil war, much of the nation has come together to once again celebrate the annual International Beer and Pretzels Festival which has historically been held in Salzburg but had to be delayed due to the civil war. Now that peace has finally returned to the nation, the government has seen fit to carry out the festival with thousands flocking to Salzburg from across Danubia and beyond to engage in the festivities.

Two pontifical legates, Faustus and Vesuvius, currently on a diplomatic mission arrive at the docks of Labyrnna. They quickly bump into the leaders of Pluvie. As they approach them, they say:
"Ah, what an honor! We did not expect to meet fellow Karmans here."
They shake hands with the Pluvian leaders and give them their names.
Board of Justice
The Board of Justice has announced that it will invest more resources into a more comprehensive driving/vehicle operations training programme for its National Police officers, in a bid to increase their operational efficiency.
Some of these techniques include ‘drifting’ at speeds of 60km/h, navigating obstacle courses in reverse with trucks, balancing and utilising narrow tracks, striking targets with vehicles, as well as the handling of different vehicle types such as helicopters, drones, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, horses, and boats.
The special training is aimed at sharpening each individual officer’s driving skills, so they can handle complicated road conditions in their duty deployments. Up to 23,000 officers will be picked and rotated into the programme in batches, with the training courses to take place in Outer Manchuria due to the availability of space and opportunities to refine rural navigation. The courses are expected to be 7 weeks in length, and each training batch is numbered at 600 officers.
Oval Office, White House
Dawes looked at the report and then the Director of Immigration Services and then back at the report before putting it down and leaning forward
"So you're telling me that we have people currently in the nation from nations that don't exist and that they bribed every border agent and TSA office with cookies? And that we're not the only ones dealing with this?"
Director of Immigration Services Jack Townsend looked the president dead in the face before replying
"Yes Ma'am. My counterparts around the world feporg the same thing and even my people at our embassy in Labyrnna stated the Emperor is meeting with some of them.
Dawes, her face plastered with a blank looked, opened a drawer in the desk and pulled out a bottle of whiskey and two tumblers and poured a shot in each and gave one the Townsend
"This day just werider and weirder."
Raising her tumbler up, she clinked it with Townsend's and slammed the shot down
"Mud in your eye..."
The White House staff would swear on a stack of bibles to their dying day it was the only time they ever saw the President outdrink most of the building

Embassy request on behalf of the Council of Foreign Relations
Comrade Muy Makara, Representative of Foreign Relations would like to extend an invitation to open an embassy in our capital, Saigon, to the following nations:
It is a great shame that we do not currently have proper diplomatic channels with these nations and would endeavour to fix this, in order to further the peaceful cause of Socialism worldwide.
To: Council of Foreign Relations, Southeastern asia
From: Department of State for External Affairs, Orange-Bourgogne
Subject: Diplomatic missions
To Comrade Muy Makara, Representative of Foreign Affairs, Greeting.
On behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom of Orange-Bourgogne, I would like to thank you for your kind offer to establish between our two nations official relations in the form of a diplomatic mission.
After an internal review by the Department of State for External Affairs, we recommend and appoint as our Minister Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary (with the rank of Ambassador) Captain Liam Burney, who worked in the Department of State for Defence before he was transferred to this Department. We are sure that he will be a fine representative to your nation’s government, and that he will be capable to cope with any and all irregularities should they arise in our relationship.
If you have selected and appointed a representative to and in Orange-Bourgogne (or formally, His Majesty’s Principal Court at Saint James’s), we would be honoured to learn whom your choice has fallen upon, so that we can receive him with all the dignity that falls unto him by virtue of his office and person.
On behalf of the Secretary of State:
Sir Richard Wellington MP
Minister of State of Diplomacy
Board of Works
The Board of Works has officially endorsed 6G technology as an ‘integral technology’ in the future, as it further injects more money into R&D for the technology.
In November of last year, the Ministry of Posts and Communications had announced hat it has formed two teams to oversee the research and study of 6G, marking the official start of a state-backed effort to accelerate the development of the technology. One team consists of government departments who will be in charge of pushing through the execution of 6G technology, while the other consists of 37 experts from universities, science institutions and corporations, who will provide technical advice for the government’s major decisions on 6G. The two research teams will start to draft a roadmap for developing 6G, as well as exploring the possible applications of the technology.
The Qing is already home to one of the world’s largest 5G market - local telecom carriers rolled out their commercial 5G plans in late 2019, with the cheapest option costing just under $20 USD.
In a bid to support research gains, the Ministry of Posts and Communications has endowed both research teams with an additional $1 billion QSD grant each, while the Board of Works has endowed them with a $5 billion QSD grant each. Additional sums may be endowed over the years, with total funding to reach $38 billion QSD cumulatively by 2030.
Qing telecoms giant Samsung has been brought along this project in a leading capacity, alongside SK Group and LG.
While current base stations are roughly the size of a refrigerator, 6G networks will use shorter wavelengths and therefore require smaller antennas, so their stations can be as small as mobile handsets. Even lighting equipment, signs and passenger cars may play the role of a base station. The Board of Works has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with several telecom equipment manufacturers to draw up plans for the installation of 0.2 billion base stations across the entire country.
The Qing seeks to become the first country to launch 6G commercial services, as it aims to become one of the most technologically integrated and efficient nations in the world.

Comrade Muy Makara, Representative for Foreign Relations
With Vicintia's ascension to the ICC the Department of Foreign Affairs has had to revise the visa rules regarding citizens of nations from the ICC. Vicintia's policy of reciprocal conduct means visa restrictions on the citizens of Furstia and Southeastern asia now match the requirements they have set for Vicintian's.
The Department of Defence has announced new joint naval and air force drills in the Indian Ocean that members of the ICC are welcome to send ships to participate in. The drill will simulate a large naval force attempting to gain naval and air superiority over the Island of Sri Lanka. The first phase of the drill will have the Vicintian navy attempt to harass and stall the superior invading force long enough for defences to be set up in Sri Lanka. The second phase will take place around Sri Lanka itself. With the help of simulation technology the Vicintian high command is eager to see how Vicintian commanders and generals handle the situation.
