A single ship that looks like a high tech party yacht grows on the horizon in international and interregional waters. Any scans of the vessel and waters around it reveal two heavily armed submarines bearing Rumargani naval identification. As the formation reaches Gypsy Land's regional boundaries, the submarines break off from the formation, careful to avoid crossing the regional boundary, leaving the extremely large, unarmed cruiser to continue unaccompanied.

The vessel halts its own advance after crossing that boundary and establishes contact with regional border control to identify itself as a diplomatic envoy, openly disclose the presence of the submarines as a security escort in interregional waters only (as in: those submarines have Rumargani orders not to proceed into Gypsy Land waters for any reason and are further ordered to hold their positions and wait for the diplomatic vessel to return or lose contact), and seek permission to continue on its own to The Matriarchy of Gypsy Lands' largest port city for the purposes of docking at whatever port is designated for them, submitting to inspection by the governing customs enforcement authority, offloading cargo that includes a large assortment of nationally celebrated Rumargani cheeses among other delicacies and gifts, and extend an invitation to the region's most prominent cultural leaders, famous celebrities, and other noted icons to enjoy a week of hospitality, revelry, and diplomacy aboard the enormous yacht.

Upon being granted docking permissions, the vessel continues directly and expediently to the ordered port. When it docks, inspection reveals that the vessel is crewed by non-military government employees, private security teams, and civilian medical professionals, and the ship's cargo manifest reveals a vast array of delectable foods, fine alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and anything someone accustomed to lavish living might want at a seven day, high society party. The passenger list includes several high profile Rumargani government officials and ambassadors, a few of the nation's pop stars and their bands, several renowned authors, and a few reporters. Everyone is dressed in their finest attire for their arrival (indeed, they are a veritable fashion show), and all of them display flawless manners. Anyone who boards the ship is greeted warmly and exuberantly, being invited to immediately make themselves "at home". Quality space has been reserved aboard the vessel for 200 Gypsy Land guests to enjoy overnight accomodations throughout the week as they feel comfortable or have need.

With Gypsy Land's approval and acceptance of the invitation, a week of debauchery-in-moderation begins. Concerts are given. Feasts are exquisitely prepared, served, and enjoyed. Gifts of textiles, produce, cheeses (they're almost weirdly excited about Rumargani cheese), and artistry are offloaded for the government to distribute according to its habits. Rules are followed, and customs are respected and maintained. Diplomacy is exchanged, and learning about Gypsy Land culture is eagerly sought while information about Rumargani culture is readily shared. Trade treaties are negotiated without any hint of greed or shade of guile and done so under the philosophy that the best deals are good for everyone involved in negotiating the deal. Positive interregional ties are deepened and cemented.

Another small, but predictable, change in GL populations. Mowgli kingdom has CTE'd and Baloo Kingdom Diplomat II has returned.

I have never watched Star Trek, I've only just now gotten into the habit of watching Star Wars.

same for me.

That’s why I gave little summaries of the factions for the non-Trek-inclined.

I'm a Trekkie, but only with TOS. (The Original Series) I mourned the death of Leonard Nimoy. And as a (ahem) much younger person, I engaged in some non-PG fantasies about Mr. Spock.

Flag of Alderney.

I suggest everyone read the WA resolution at vote on embassy collecting. It's quite nasty, and yet it will most likely pass. In fact, I wish someone would explain it to me, because I'm not exactly sure what it wants done; it seems like it's just one long complain.

How much chaos has taken place since I last set up a feast?

It's really been 7 years, time flies Gypsy Land. Here's to 7 more.

It almost shocks me more that 2017 was that long ago.

More shocking is that Y2K was 24 years ago. Probably before most of you were born.

I just banned abortion and my civil rights rose. I think it's not supposed to be like that, right?

Are you sure that was the reason???

rose immediately after, yes

Maybe it was the rights of the babies?

An issue editor explained this on the Forums. Not surprisingly, there was much disagreement among them as to whether banning abortion or legalizing it was pro-freedom. It was finally agreed that both positions would raise civil rights, to avoid the controversy of picking one position or the other. It's possible that a search of the Got Issues Forum would turn this post up.

That makes sense. . .

BLM. Babies' Lives Matter.

I have noticed that since the WA resolution on embassy collectors was published, some regions have closed all their "collector" embassies. Nothing like having a closed mind.

We're Gypsy. We follow our own rules.
