It looks like Rumargan is the supreme Trekker in this region. I thought I had that title when, several years ago, the region Star Trek aborted our embassy. I decided to plea my case, and when I told them I owned DVD's of the entire TOS, and every movie made, and the entire animated series, they relented and kept our embassy. Rum, you do me proud.
I am also a Trekkie, even had a puppet nation based on an alien species from Star Trek. But Rumargan is definitely the biggest Trekkie here, and I mean that with the greatest respect.

I went through a time in my life where I was mad at everything, and Rodenberry's hope for a better humanity as expressed through Star Trek's stories (and lbr, those are soaps set in space with the obligatory one space battle per episode for dynamic nuance) was somewhat soothing for me. I watched them chronologically, so I saw Captain Archer before Captain Kirk. As much trash as I got done talking about her in reference to the Prime Directive, Captain Janeway's still my favorite captain. And yeah, I'm a Trekkie -- I even know a little Klingon! 😅
Oooh! Which species? I've done Bajorans, Klingons, and Vulcans!
That seems needlessly aggressive. Would they not better serve the god-emperor's glory if given a retrofit and taught his (her? their?) ways of correct living? Corpses add less to a ruler's glory than the advancement of civilization, technology, and science while using peace to enlarge their own empire in the process. Even the god-emperor's people were once primitive among species of their own kind and managed to rise to worthiness. Surely primitiveness should be no determination in a species' capacity for service toward a worthy god-emperor's goals. Why waste the resource?
**invites all the poor workers to the table**
Regarding star trek. I never watched anything but TOS. The other captains just never interested me. And Star Trek without Spock? No. I read every book ever written about TOS. I think every major actor wrote an autobiography. (Bill Shatner was trashed in every one of them!) I have books including how to make a star trek uniform and the detailed plans of the Enterprise, and even the devices they used. The only things I don't have regarding TOS are the silly toys they created, because my kiddie days were long gone.
But it ended there. Picard just didn't do it for me.
Merry Christmas lads

So, I saw this (link: { page=news/2024/12/05/index.html }) in the NS news page, and I smell tea brewing. I have questions:
- Is this related to why I keep getting page stalls every time I submit an issue response?
- Is this related to the server crash earlier this year?
- If so, did someone quit or get fired over it? Who? Why?
This tea smells spicy and delicious, and I want someone to spill it!
Maybe.
The site wasn't designed to handle the amount of nations that are now part of it.
Everything is being held up by duck tape and hoping the hamsters don't get tired.
The people maintaining the site are volunteers. They don't get paid and can't devote all of their time to improving everything.
I keep thinking the whole thing could collapse to the point where a couple of nations I created over 20 years ago could be wiped out.
The problem with issue stalling is a known problem, and it was happening before the server crash. An admin is working on it, but apparently it's quite difficult to fix. There's a Technical Forum post about it on page 2 (unless it slipped to page 3 while I wasn't looking).

I like the Ferengi a lot too.
Their Rules of Acquisition are seriously underrated.
Rule #31 is quite funny : "Never make fun of a Ferengi's mother. Insult something he cares about instead."

There you are, dear; that should help.
What he gives with one hand, he takes away with the other!
My dear gypsies,
As of this very moment we are 28 regions away from 2000 embassies. Of course, from day to day regions die, embassies close, and we are sometimes tossed out. But we're on our way. And we shall have a monumental feast when it happens. So, get ready with the pancakes, Team Hawkeye; prepare to bake the pastries, Merovahn; and keep the campfire going, Tennesseen!
