Welcome home.

I hope the beach was a sandy one. The rock ones are no good.

I went to 4 beaches in total. 2 were sandy and nice. 1 was rocky, but I disagree with you, that one was also good. Then the last one was sand AND rock, and that's just awful.

TSP Delegate voting continues unabated... dead Lazarene voters and all?

When an InfoWarez contributor shared a fake video of a TSP voting machine automatically casting ballots for a left-leaning candidate, it was just another day at the races in The South Pacific, a region known for it's Linkdelightful dramatic lurching from one consitutional crisis to the next over the past 16 years.

[TSP] “It was the main story all day Sunday and was somehow predictable. Many hoaxes with conspiracy theories circulated in the weeks prior to the voting day,” said Beepee the director of AlternaFactos, a TSP fact-checking organization, told VN in a message. “This was a hoax built on paranoia.”

The lead-up to TSP’s contentious delegate election, which had its first round of voting in the offsite forums, has been marred by misinformation on platforms like FaceRage and WhatShat. A deeply polarized society has provided fertile grounds for viral conspiracy theories about everything from the death of a politician to Lazarus voters rising from the dead to vote in TSP. Fact-checkers themselves have become targets of the chaos.

The fake voting machine video, which both Drystar and fellow fact-checker 073 039 109 032 080 111 112 112 121 quickly debunked, racked up thousands of retweets after being shared by Islands of unity — the son of right-wing candidate Roavin. InfoWarez’ Auphelia also amplified the hoax. That doesn’t even take into account Discord, the messaging platform where a good chunk of TSP misinformation comes from.

Over the past few weeks, TSP voters have expressed concern about the integrity of the election, which will end its second round of voting today — despite assurances from both regional and external election officials that voting machines are safe to use. And that distrust has manifested itself in an onslaught of voter fraud-related hoaxes on social media.

“There are tons of hoaxes related to fraud in the system,” said sitting Delegate Erinor. “Election Commissioner Farengeto informed us that only 0.33 percent of the system had any kind of bad functionality problems, so it’s very low. The Order of the Grey Wardens came to TSP to analyze the system, they probably already talked about it, and found that there is no fraud in the system, actually.”

“This is just bad, bad, bad information.”

With just 30 minutes left in the polls, Aumeltopia has taken a 6 vote lead in the week long election most media are saying is still too close to call.

Tubbius the Flabby needs to go to sleep.

His tummy, though, is glowing a lovely golden light alongside the equally radiant tummy of Her Gravidity. The Portly Parents of Treadwellia had too much supper, it seems.

Sleeping might be problematic tonight unless They use up this excess Tubbius Magic somehow.

Lady Zaharra is still willing to rig up a power siphon to drain off a bit of the excess. Not a lot, of course, just enough to keep things from getting uncomfortable.

Splitting Timelines

by Loftegen 2

Below the Great Cloister upon the Altenberg, exists a room that contains a map of the known multiverse. As you might imagine, such a map is at once incredibly large, and woefully incomplete. Yet it is arguably the single most important tool in Lady Zaharra's battle against The One and The Other One, the would be gods who desire nothing more or less than the adulation of every living thing in existence.

The acolytes charged with maintaining the map add to it constantly, as field agents bring news from elsewhere and elsewhen. Important events are highlighted within the web of timelines. The splitting of a timeline into two or more parallel/alternate versions of the original is one such important event: it happens rarely, and often has dire consequences. As such, the discovery that timeline 2P (the current primary timeline) had just recently split into five new versions of itself caused both consternation and excitement.

The consternation comes from this happening without being noticed. The excitement comes from the possibility of discovering just what triggered the split: the causes of many (most) have never been identified with certainty. An admittedly very brief and superficial survey has not revealed any major changes. Further study is ongoing...

That's funny. I am currently watching an anime show about that. Splitting timelines.

Mzeusia wrote:Hey Treadwellia.

YIF is on holiday as you know, so I thought I'd ask you. On the RP map, can I RP as ancient Mzeusia, or does my tech have to be modern?

Thanks!

As Laz' unofficial and entirely self-proclaimed role-play master, by virtue of having revived RMB RP in Lazarus through the epic "New Light Order" RP arc together with Loftegen 2, I say that one can use any technology level and any magic level in map RP.
The key "rules" (Note: There are no actual written rules on roleplay in Lazarus!) are:

  • no godmoding

  • don't kill off major characters, locations or vessels of other nations without consent or at least a logical lead up where the other leader can take measures to avoid such outcomes

  • be nice unless the other participants aren't...

By observation most nations on the map are modern tech with no magic (Loftegen 2 being one exception with moderate amounts of magic but otherwise firmly in the "normal" present) or near-future tech (Leonism has fusion-powered aircraft and ships as well as workable military lasers, yet lacks the true SF gadgets such as shields, hyperdrives or anti-gravity which its scientists are striving for).

A nation set in antiquity will be vastly outmatched technologically on the LazMap and will have to tread carefully. Alternatively, it could be enhanced by magic or mythological powers to offset the tech imbalance with its neighbours.

In real-life, most cultures outside Europe and Asia never progressed past the Iron Age on their own, so this tech imbalance is not without real precedent. It did not end well for those underdeveloped regions...

Oh! Then it is you I should ask about using the white space on the map. I've been thinking of RP oppurtunities coming from troubles brewing in the white space on the map that, at least in my head, could be countries that are really whatever is needed. For example, if we need a country where terrorists get support, we could use one of them.

I hope this is okay though, if not, I completely understand.

Me and Aigania consider ourselves so technologically advanced, it's basically magic (._.)

I have used my puppets in Laz for just such purposes, without ever mentioning 'where' they are. And I'd say that NS created nations like Maxtopia and Blackacre are fair game as well.

LazASK question for the day: Are there a lot of green spaces (parks, random fields, etc) in cities in your nation? Are cities generally pleasant places to be? (OK, that's two questions, but what the heck?)

Random fields not so much, but parks, yes. Some are quite large, some are very small. As to whether the cities are pleasant places to be, to answer very broadly, yes. Crime, pollution, and crowding are the most common problems, but the abundance of opportunities for employment and entertainment make up for those issues.
