Are any foreign languages of other Lazarene countries known/taught in your country?

The people of Leonism speak modern German. Due to Leonism's history, Latin loan words are very common and widely known even among lesser educated people (who are generally rare in Leonism). A wide variety of dialects exist, which are sometimes barely mutually intelligible. These are mostly a play on existing RL dialects: the people of South Frisia speak like real-life East Frisians, the people from the northern mountain provinces speak like real Bavarians, the capital population speaks with a Ruhr-like dialect and so on.

Foreign languages are currently experiencing a revival after a long period of neglect, the most commonly taught are Hycronesian and English.

Perchan's national tongues are "Barschii" German, City folk speak Austrian High German (referred to simply as Barschii), while people of the Hinterland speak the Bavarian variety (Vulgar Barschii) and "Persicano" Italian (most similar to the Friulian dialect). Barschii is spoken within the Imperial City of Perchan and St. Maartin Gertrude's, while Vulgar Barschii is spoken further west in Krystallfurt. Persicano is found mostly is Cristallo di Persicania and within some Zones of the Imperial City.

Other than the native tongues of Perchan, English is also learned as a second or third language in primary school, and as an elective in further education.

Mzeusia wrote:In celebration of me being officially added to the LazMap, I'm making the next post.
On the western-most reaches of Thule, the Kingdom of Mzeusia went to work under the early morning sun. In the groves, men and women picked fruits from the trees, and in the fields, the crops were growing steadily, promising a plentiful harvest when the time came. In the sky, birds sang overhead, and a group of men wrestled on a flat piece of land on the outskirts of a small village.

All over Mzeusia, men and women were waking up to the sun and getting on with their days. Over the southern most stretch of coast, a large rainbow could be seen reaching through the clouds in a mighty arch. Morning prayers commenced throughout the kingdom, and the forests of the dead that bordered all settlements, teemed with life.

Some Mzeusians were already looking out to sea. A man was standing by the coast with a stall, selling a selection of cakes and sweetbreads, while another man was showing off statuettes of various gods. A child ran up to the man with the cakes, and coins exchanged hands. The child ran back to her grandfather with a grin, and the grandfather nodded and smiled at the cake-seller in way of a greeting. A little ways along, a cluster of fishermen arrived at the shoreline. They chatted merrily as they set up their equipment, boasting about their latest catches and how good their rods were.

From his temple the King looked down at the capital city of Mzikos with pride. The country was doing well, and the warship he had sent out to find new lands would be coming back any day now. He decided that a walk around the herbal gardens would put his almost perpetual anxiety to rest. Stepping out from between two columns, he descended the two steps from the temple. The sky was a brilliantly clear blue, with a scattering of clouds here and there. The King turned, sandals slapping the stone pathway. Soon, he could smell the mixture of heady scents which the herb garden emitted. This brought a smile to his face, and when he reached the small garden, he sat for a moment on a bench.

Somewhere a few miles off the Mzeusian coast:
The Mzeusian rowers had guided the ship outward until they had caught a more favourable wind. The warship mission to find an island and inhabit it was an important one if Akses, God of the sea was to be appeased, and as the ship travelled further across the waves, the men on board took of a cry of "Land!" The faint outline of land had been spotted on the horizon, and the men made their way towards it.

Snoodum, if you read the RP post, you'll see that a warship (not with hostile intentions) has set sail from Mzeusia and has just spotted what they think is land. On the map, your nation is the most likely candidate for that landmass. Would you be up for an RP? It's fine if you're not.

That's really interesting and thank you for asking. I'd be more than willing to go along with this!

Snudgeskooge was woken by a soft knock on the door. Being a light sleeper, he snapped his eyes open, turning to the Bloodrine wood door, the almost black wood barely distinguishable in the dark. He glanced perfunctorily at the Empress. He'd need an heir soon. Lifespans were rapidly increasing these days but being a Great Divine Majesty took years of training. He pulled back the covers, setting them softly on the Empress before walking over to the door and opening it. Alfoerd had the decency to keep the light off outside his room so as not to wake the Empress. Snudgeskooge rubbed his eyes as Alfoerd knelt in respect before getting back up. The older man whispered in Snudgeskooge's ear. 'The Foreign Minister is outside your office. I told him I'd come and get you.'

Snudgeskooge nodded, scenarios starting to go ever more rapidly through his mind as he woke up. 'Thank you Alfoerd, you can go back to sleep.' The man nodded slightly. Snudgeskooge could tell the man wanted to stay up and so cocked his head to the side in way of telling the man to continue.

'I watch the stars late at night your Great Divine Majesty. I have a telescope in my room.' Snudgeskooge smiled. He always loved finding out the hobbies of those around him.

On getting to his office, Alfoerd waved the Foreign Minister in. 'What brings you to my office, Lorena? I don't see you very often.'

'I apologise for the late hour, your Great Divine Majesty but a wooden ship has been sighted by Eastern Coastal Battery in Sector Seven. The local commander ordered the naval guns loaded and he's awaiting your orders.'

'Do we have any ideas who it belongs to?'

'The sail isn't anything we recognise. It doesn't seem to be stopping either.'

'Send out a boat. Have it stop the ship and escort them back. I'll meet them there. If we get any more information, let me know.'

'Your Great Divine Majesty, I doubt it's true but the commander reported the men to have spears and bronze armour.'

Snudgeskooge frowned. At least this would be a new experience. He walked with the Foreign Minister to the helipad outside and boarded a modified military helicopter. The Foreign Minister closed the door and a few minutes later, they landed on the helipad at ECB Seven. They were met by the ECB commander who led them to the shore where the three patrol boats were approaching the wooden vessel. God-Emperor Snudgeskooge was handed an ear piece and he could hear the Naval Scouting Corporal talking to his men. 'Corporal, it's your Great Divine Majesty, God-Emperor Snudgeskooge speaking. I'm here for the ride. Escort the ship back here. If you see any signs of hostility beyond what could be placed down to the probable langauge barrier that might exist, you have authorisation to use non-lethal force. Keep the lethal force for if they actively start attacking you. These people are probably lost and were re-enacting an ancient battle. Keep it civil as much as is possible Corporal.'

'Copy that God-Emperor.' replied the Corporal as the three boats sped up.

I'll briefly roleplay as the Naval Scouting Corporal for the duration of the talks with the Mzeusian sailors.

I decided to vote for the WA proposal currently at vote, since Tubbius doesn't seem to have a problem with it. It should have been obvious really, as I doubt that he'd want food to not be eaten...

Can't wait for next LazART event. I'm up for anything as long as it doesn't require me drawing a human face.

While this is true, His Immensity, being Delegate of Lazarus, feels compelled to vote the way that the majority of the crowd goes.

That said, though, His Rotundity is currently thinking of a sub sandwich from the local Tubb's Subs. . . .

Sentry guns, nukes, or stupid democrats facilitating law breaking...I can't remember how that turned out.

Altenburg Independent News

A Leonism soldier, a member of the Raumwawaffe and part of the NLO, whose name was not revealed by the Empire, and whose body was not claimed, was laid to rest in Altenburg National Cemetery today. By all accounts, he acquitted himself well. The aluminum coffin was attended by a full honor party as it was lowered into the earth. Lady Zaharra, to whom "going home" is very important, cast the first earth on his grave and said, "Let him sleep here in peace, until the last trump sounds."

The gravestone, near to the tomb of our own unknowns, reads, "Here, in honored glory rests, a Leonist soldier, known only to God."

Lady Zaharra is accounted to have wept, as the grave was fillied...
