What kind of empires do you usually play?

I am old-fashioned and usually play human empires (most recent was more or less "Leonism in space", fittingly with a democratic military comissariat), although I did enjoy that one time I played a machine empire (that was long before the current update though). I plan on trying out a megacorporation for the first time after the current game.

As noted in the past, please repost and take time to describe the links in question rather than JUST posting a random link on the RMB. Looking to keep stuff safe for work, kids, etc.

I hate it when people dump links like that on the RMB, they just look ugly as sin.

Megacorporations are super fun to play, especially if you pick the Gospel of the Masses civic with it!

Loftegen 2 wrote:"Sorry to interrupt you, Lady, but there's been a zombie outbreak in Sinyal." The words were spoken by an acolyte who approached her in her library.

"<censored> me!" the Lady exclaimed, throwing up her hands. "Are they realistic zombies or fantasy zombies?" she demanded, sounding none too pleased with the acolyte.

"Fantasy zombies, Lady: the Sinyalians claim a virus is responsible, but these seem to be corpses reanimated by unknown means," the acolyte answered.

"Well, if you already knew that, why isn't Team Z on its way to Sinyal to deal with them?" The Lady's normally black eyes were flickering with red light, a sure sign she was furious.

The acolyte backed away nervously. "I'll dispatch them at once, Lady," he said, before fleeing from her presence.

She glared after him, then picked up what she had been working on. 'Where was I,' she thought. 'Oh, right. An eight letter word for a street vendor's vehicle.'

A peculiar aircraft that resembled a cross between a V-22 Osprey and a Flying Hunter Killer from the Terminator franchise raced toward Au'Rahabar, the capital of Sinyal, carrying the six members of Team Z.

A blonde woman known only as Kára, whose name meant 'the wild, stormy one', was flying the ship, imaginatively called a Valkyie. Behind her in the passenger compartment were:

Firecracker: the team leader, whose favorite attack was dual-wielding automatic pistols that fired explosive-incinidiary projectiles.

Thunder: a large man who carried a sonic cannon set to the resonance frequency of human bone.

Lightning: Thunder's maybe sister, able to generate bolts of her namesake at will, as well as other phenomena.

The White Witch: an expert in natural magic, healing, and augmentation, who could also turn and/or dismiss the undead.

The Black Knight: a power-armor clad warrior with pulse jets in his boots, pulse cannons on his wrists, and a big-ass sword and shield on his back.

"On target in thirty minutes," Kára reported. Firecracker grinned. "Oh, yeah!" he exclaimed.

You know how Thule is the central continent on the LazMAP? Yeah, well it's also a US airforce base in Greenland.

Home to an early warning radar, and supposedly our northernmost base.

Hmmm. I wonder if the person who named that, did so without knowing about the base?

Apparently, Thule was chosen because the base was so far north, which is what 'Thule' is/means: farthest north.

Ah, right. That makes sense.

Western Leonism

Travelers from Loftegen 2 continued to arrive in the Imperium. Many were former citizens, coming home to visit friends and family and show their children the old country. Others were of Leonistich ancestry, some were businessmen, and a few were scholars.

A tiny handful had a benign, but more artful purpose.

Posing as a married couple, a man and woman from Loftegen 2 had traveled to the western reaches of the country, seeking out a particular Roman ruin. They established their base at a camp ground right next to their objective, the two places being part of a large national park.

They spent many days exploring the place, an abandoned city, taking care to avoid the on-going archaeological work, but watching it with great interest (along with many others). At night they snuck in to examine areas off limits to ordinary citizens.

Today they were taking a break. The campground was very pleasant, attended by a retired couple who, in exchange for free camping privileges, looked after the facilities and operated a small shop that catered to campers needs (mostly firewood and toiletries). Park rangers (not the correct term, but near enough) drove through occasionally, and only once had had to do actual law enforcing, on some college aged folks who were getting a little rowdy.

The man was seated at the picnic table next to their campsite's fire pit. He had a large map spread out, weighted down by rocks, and was studying it intently, writing notes and drawing lines on it from time to time.

The woman set a cup of coffee next to him, and sat down opposite him.

"It's here," she asserted. "I can feel it."

"I don't doubt you," he replied. "Unfortunately the actual ruins don't match up with her memories."

The woman sipped her own coffee and shrugged. "Two thousand years will do that to you," she said.

Braun is brown (I think) and Schweiger sounds like a German beer, so is it a special slide for brown Schweiger beer?
