I voted against because this is not the solution to the environmental crisis. Our efforts need to focus on reducing production of waste and pollution, not storing them.

this helps.

WA proposals affect stats. The effects just vary.

Take for instance GA#540: Supporting People with Disabilities, which passed on February 25, and increased Civil Rights in all WA nations.

There's also GA#543: Protecting the Rights of Labour Unions, which passed on March 9, and severely damaged Average Income of Rich. One of the biggest drops I've seen is on Svenskskit's chart, wherein the value dropped from 1.7 million to 500 thousand.

The proposal does very little for environmentalism. All it does is buy researchers time to figure out what to do with waste. But at least that is better than letting industry dump things into rivers.

If this passes, companies may use it as an excuse to continue producing waste and act like they're taking their share of environmental action. Akin to how oil companies set up "carbon traps" and refuse to transition to sustainable energy. This isn't as much of an issue in socialist nations, but it would still have a net negative global impact.

Instead, we should propose a resolution banning production of single-use plastics and setting GHG emission targets.

That's a good point.

But will the game actually make that a thing where companies do that? seems unlikely.

not gonna pass tho.

I'm just speaking hypothetically. Ultimately, I find the utility of this game lies in it's ability to help us analyze our political ideologies...to scrutinize and apply. Hopefully it carries over to what we do in real life. For example, after the pandemic started I went and volunteered my time as a political activist where I live. A year later and I'm seriously considering making it a career.

Its gonna get denied anyways tho.

Ok get this...

I put my support behind a move to repeal a past proposal that would make it a doctor's choice to deny abortions for their patients based on the doctor's religious values. A whole coalition of WA delegates sent me a joint telegram saying that I should retract my support to repeal. They say that the proposal is, in fact, a pro-choice proposal! ... the doctor's choice.

These people are either unfortunately obtuse or intentionally evil. The main signatory even presents as a libertarian socialist. Insane.

That's...not what pro-choice usually means...although resisting people being compelled to perform abortions isn't incompatible with libertarian socialism, I'm not sure a person who practices medicine based on religious values is compatible with according that person the status of doctor.

Basically, they are asking us to legalize discrimination.

Ooh! So that's how these questions are made. That's interesting.

Has anyone here ever created one of these questions for the game?

Red green and black wrote:Basically, they are asking us to legalize discrimination.

This is comparable to the case of homophobic business owners being allowed to refuse service on the basis of a customer's sexual orientation.

"Pro-choice" refers to a woman's right to choose to have an abortion, NOT allowing doctors to "choose" to refuse service.

I think you're talking about that wedding cake business, am I right?

There was also a related case about a county clerk who refused to give marriage licenses to people even though gay marriage had just been legalized in her state.
