Tethys 13 wrote:Question of the Day:

We have excellent services, performed by priestesses in the temple. Patients enter a darkened chamber where they consume herbs to help them sleep. The gods send them dreams which the priestess interprets, and helps them identify a cure

There was one maverick several millennia ago called Phareud who had some unusual ideas about mental health. Unfortunately for him, he was murdered by his son, who was reportedly jealous of the relationship between his mother and Phareud

Question of the Day:

If you were to find yourself in a fantasy world, how likely would you be to try to find your way home to this one?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
It depends on the world of course, but it would not take too much for me to pick it over this one, so I would say not that likely.

What a truly glorious and irreproachable peoples! The kind Other Margaretians who visited this Maadi earlier was very convincing, especially once the topic of its family was brought up.

What a tragedy. I'm sure his son's jealously ended once his father was dead though, right?

Tethys 13 wrote:Question of the Day:

Well, I feel like there's lots of fantasy worlds well there's both a lack of modern medicine but also magic, and I kinda need modern medicine, so maybe I wouldn't try too hard to find my way back if the magic was really good and accessible for new immigrants.

Maadi wrote:What a truly glorious and irreproachable peoples! The kind Other Margaretians who visited this Maadi earlier was very convincing, especially once the topic of its family was brought up.

That's mighty nice of them. If we could trouble you to recall their social security numbers? Should have been printed in big, bold font on the back of their neck, just below the barcode...? Right, right, nothing to worry about. Standard immigration/emigration policies you know. Need to make sure they had the necessary approvals for international travel as civilian functionaries.

Tethys 13 wrote:Question of the Day:

It all hinges on if I have to do manual labor to survive. I wouldn't be opposed to staying in another world if I could use magic or coast by on easy money but that seems like wishful thinking. Most fantasy worlds have a medieval setting, so I'd probably end up a serf and die in a year from the plague if I don't get back.

Kharostia

Tethys 13 wrote:Question of the Day:

Excellent, but how would the rest of the world know that?

Don't forget that no one would recognize a person to be a Kharostie visiting the outside world, and everyone who knows anything would think that there are currently around 52.9 million mass-hysterical people all around the world talking about dead country, and this dead country is a regional power with good public healthcare, good safety, good peace, but excellent schools.

Random guy who is probably a new friend: Where are you from?
Kharostin: I'm from Kharostia, a neat place, if I must say.
Random guy: Are you ok? Kharostia disappeared from the world 2 years ago and all 4.6 billion Kharostie and their records disappeared. This is not possible, you are obviously delusional.
Kharostin: What? I can prove it to you. *goes on to talk about how Kharostia is a perfect circle and how the process of it becoming a perfect circle proves it definitely exists*
Random guy(on whatever thing they use for long-distance communication): Hello? There's a delusional man next to me. I need you to call mental health services.
Kharostin: Woah, woah, what are you doing? *gets dragged away to mental asylum in probably more than half of nations in the canonical world that may or may not be called NationStates*

Question of the Day:

What are some fun things you discovered in June? (This could be songs, films, books, facts, etcetera)

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
World of Io has started a Dungeons and Dragons: Curse of Strahd Hardcore campaign, which is already highly entertaining. I also watched the Project Mouthwash Fate: Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works Abridged, which was very funny even without having watched any of the original series (and having no plan to, with how hard Fate: Zero put me off the franchise in its early episodes, and there being plenty in the abridged series that would have been deeply upsetting outside of satire).
I also found out what a bad case of plantar fasciitis feels like! Oh wait, 'fun' things...

Ouchies on the plantar fasciitis :(

I... I had a relatively uneventful June. I did find out just how incredibly hot Vietnam is this time of year though...

Tethys 13 and Maadi

The clock beeps six times, each one weaker and wearier than the last. You glance at it in concern, not for the clock’s welfare, but your own. It cannot be halfway already. You have barely started the tasks you planned to have completed much, much sooner. The stirrings of dread begin to rise.
Welcome to the June wrap-up.
First of all, congratulations to the Regional Message Board Contributor The Part-Time Goddess Margaret, and it is of the Regional Message Board and the rest of Gameside I would like to speak. I have been asking the Questions of the Day here for over three years, and Vizier of Gameside Affairs for nearly the same length of time, but due to my struggling performance as the latter, I may not be doing the former much longer. I am intending to restructure Gameside Affairs to give some newer people opportunities to help out and show initiative, so I hope people here treat them well. This is part of the reassessment of Osiran priorities our Pharaoh Ark encouraged with a Roundtable discussion at the start of the month. In other news, the Sekhmet Legion has been very active for Pride month, with multiple successful raids to spread colour and joy across NationStates. Meanwhile, Koth ventured into the realm of gods, defeated them in what I have to assume was a series of Yu-Gi-Oh! duels, and bound them in servitude to become extremely helpful resources to unify the Discord server and offsite forum, so do not forget to offer some praise (and maybe sacrifices)! July awaits! (However, if it exceeds the temperatures of June, my restructuring of Gameside might turn into a permanent retirement as I evaporate…)

What did you vote for on the poll? If you would like to, please elaborate!

Maadi wrote:Alright, so this might get a bit lengthy, but lemme cook.

I've always believed that some degree of an accord between the thematics of the site designers and how we imagine regions goes a long way to inspiring how to flesh them out. Osiris, as one of the three Restorers, has two sister regions that are also named after deities (Baldr and Lazarus), so I think the most straightforward answer, that our region is the body of a deity, is also the best one! Partially because no other GCR regions outside of the restorers share this naming convention. The Pacifics are all oceanic geographical areas, easy to imagine on a single planet, while the Warzones are either continental, national (both implying Earth), or vague (like Airspace).

It's also just really cool to imagine civilizations nested onto a divine body and definitely under explored as a regional worldbuilding narrative here on NationStates. If we ever made it a part of our roleplay or anything, I'd like to imagine that Maadi's position would be on some marginal, rarely thought about part Osiris's body, like where the neck meets the torso or near an elbow. I don't think the Maadian civilization would be anything like one of the largest Githyanki cities from D&D's Forgotten Realms setting, where that species built fortresses that sprawl across the entire corpse of dead gods. It'd be much smaller, with ruins strewn across much of it.

I wonder what aspects of the ancient Egyptian afterlives of Duat and Aaru could be incorporated onto a corporeal view of Osiris's nations!

And of course, as always, we have our

the weather is horrendous in southeast asia this time of year
flights are bad
Valentine Z: Humid as heck and yeah, thunderstorms too.
Have a safe flight! <3

><
Unimdya: That’s good, did ye enjoy SE Asia?
Margaret: I did
went to vietnam
altho, well, I live in SEA
so the climate isn't unusual for me
Maadi: Nice! Glad you enjoyed it
I really want to visit that area and Oceania someday
I’ve never made it further than America and Europe
Chair: what is sea
oh southeast asia
Spudtato: Nah, went to a different part of the ocean, clearly
Tethys 13: Gets jealous
Seeing other oceans, are we?
Unimdya: it's alright teth, your ocean is the best ocean
Retsu: I wonder if I would like seawater more than water water
Ivan: Seawater is rather bland, needs some salt imo
Tethys 13: I do not enjoy being drunk.
Unimdya: we're drinkingfrom the other water, not yours
Tethys 13: Good. Hangovers can be vicious.

Mike: It is once again time I debate expanding my book collection or not
Tethys 13: Yes.
Mike: I am running out of space for them all Teth
Tethys 13: No you are not.
You are running out of space to move everything else to.
Mike: Hmmm, a valid point

Tethys 13: ++Warning: Program Tethys13.ocean is overheating. Please reduce temperatures to below 5 degrees Celsius for optimal program efficiency. Tethys 13: I spent yesterday unable to move and so instead just re-read Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint from the beginning. I am now doing the same for Reborn Rich.
Margaret: It's that dang climate change again I'm sure of it
Tethys 13: Which means it will likely only get worse.
When it hit 40 a couple of years back I legitimately thought I might pass out, even sat at home with a large bottle of ice water.
Spudtato: Assuming that's Celsius
Cause 40 Fahrenheit is like 3 degrees Celsius
Tethys 13: Indeed, it is using proper measurements.
Margaret: hah
Retsu: Kelvin is better for math
Let’s erase the concept of negative numbers entirely and work from the dtangmdpi of an absolute zero
Skies: @ Nota are we emotionally ready to restructure all of math for Retsu, because I am fascinated by this adventure
Margaret: I mean, yes
I'm bad at math anyways so I'm always emotional about it

Skies: I am glad we are all in agreement about this
Margaret: I’m glad too
Just in general, not at anything in particular

Skies: The DMV is very busy y’all, wish me luck
Maadi: Good luck!!
Skies: LOL I did just give up
Apparently 5 employees called out today
The wait is over 3 hours
Maadi: that 8 minute delay cost me my luck’s relevance 💀

Spudtato: Guten tag
Margaret: Gluten tag
Spudtato: Beware, this product possesses the tag of gluten
I wonder if they took Legolas to a supermarket if he'd just go around checking the allergens of every product in the store within like a minute
What do your elf eyes see, Legolas?
Tread carefully, these products are filled with tree nuts, gluten, and dairy
I'm really tired, I think my brain might be going a little silly
Margaret: They's taking them bobbits to islamabad, sir
Imagine being an elf and allergic to tree nuts, gluten and dairy
That would suck
Spudtato: I don't think Elves really consume dairy, but tree nuts would basically be equivalent to being allergic to oxygen from them
I wonder if the amazing elven bread is gluten free or not

Maadi: I tuned into the debate for about 15 seconds. Each one lied in quick succession and I realized, nope, nah, I’d rather read a book lol.
Ghazia: Real
I’m watching but I will not be sober
Maadi: Bless
Margaret: we live in an era where televised debates are entertainment rather than non-fiction
Plasma: Pretty much watching just so I can get ahead on the next lingo/meme content that’s gonna sprout from this
We’re cooked either way lmfao
Unless of course
You vote for me
And I’ll get it done
Margaret: that's an idea
not that I can or should

Chair: Theres so many fireflies now
Im at my local park rn
Its raining
Think ill only go around twice
Tethys 13: Can you believe your eyes?
Chair: I can not because it looks like theres at least a million out here
Tethys 13: Are they trying to teach you how to dance?
Chair: Lighting up the world as i fall asleep while driving and crash and die while they fill the open air and i leave teardrops everywhere

Mike: I want to crack open the skull and count how few wrinkles are on the brain of the person who decided to cut me off while I was towing a jeep. I will win that game of bumper cars without meaning to.

In our land we call it the cycle. It never ends. One goes another shows.

Hello, dear guys.

Today I got a telegram from one of our Guardians asking me to endorse our bosses. The only question I have is where does the bottom "endorse" located, I watched through all the nation's main page and didn't find it.

PS Only countries members of WA can do it, right?
If you can help me with it, please, send me q telegram as I don't visit the chat frequently.

Hi Tutaev Lands, you're right that only WA member nations can do it. However, joining the WA is easy and almost immediate after email confirmation! Once that's done, you should see a green bar on the right side of your nation's main page that says "WA Member".

You can then endorse somebody - e.g., Arkadia Universalis by clicking on their page, scrolling to the bottom, and clicking the endorse button.

Hope this helps! I've also sent you a telegram in case you don't see this :)
