Stage 2 of the poll has ended, with the combination Brains and Brawn as the winner! Plenty of people liked the idea of speed or an all-rounder as well though, so while thinking and squaring up will be the hero's primary tools of engagement, they will likely not be a snail (aww), just a little slower than a jack-of-all-trades.

Stage 3 is up! In this one, we are finally choosing the hero's powers, including some suggested by various people (though not those I did not understand or took to be jokes, or which would go against the results of the second poll). As stated, I plan to pick the highest voted two of these, though if there is a third that clinches a close spot, I could allow it.

Expect further Superhero event announcements tomorrow!

Question of the Day:

What are you voting on the poll and why, and what would be your second choice?

Like you said, sand. Also super strength and intelligence + ability to control stones would make building pyramids quite easy.

Necromancy and immortality make sense too, yes. MUMMY ARMY

I died so like hehe I'm not a native yet and I sadly missed the previous 2 parts, but like Necromancy would be like super cool because like you would hear something R I S E M Y F A L L E N B R O T H E R S and like *undead noises and once-dead soldiers rise*

The Egypt theme is so cool!

Weather/Environment, because of the gods of the Ancient Egyptian Pantheon. People like Geb controlling/being the earth or Ra being/controlling the sun.

Second being immortality for the same reason.

Osiris Superhero Month

To continue with our Superhero Month events, alongside the creation of a regional superhero, we would like to invite the nations of Osiris to design superheroes to represent your own nations! Perhaps they could be stalwart allies of the regional superhero, or bitter rivals, or even nemeses… supervillains are fun too, after all. Linked below is a Google Form to help guide the creation process for those who prefer it, though you are also free to post designs on the Regional Message Board, as Factbooks or Dispatches, or directly in the exhibition thread in the offsite forum, if you find the form too limiting! We do ask that you include one thing, however. We will be hosting a tournament at the end of the month (or the end of the creation process), featuring superheroes created by our nations and allies, with random seeding and randomly chosen events that test your hero’s Brains, Brawn or Speed, or combinations of two. So, we would need you to assign points to those three categories, up to a total of 20, and a maximum of 10 in any category! They could be a jack-of-all-trades at 7-6-7, or a knock-your-block-off powerhouse at 2-10-8. Have fun with it!
If you feel your nation is too grounded to have a real national superhero flying around, fear not! Simply come up with one that might be popular as a comic in your nation, and the Aquatic Librarian Knights of Tethys 13 can use their narrative powers to do the rest, so even fictional fictional people can represent your nation!
Submissions are intended to close on the 30th of November.

In addition, we are having an Osiris Superhero Playlist! Please submit your superhero-themed songs below. This can be as specific as songs directly related to superheroes, or as vague as music that gives you 'heroic' vibes! I have started us off, of course, so you can start listening to my dreadful picks already or save us all by adding your own!

Question of the Day:

What are some of your favourite fictional species in terms of visual design?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
The first to come to mind is actually the mushroom folk from Dark Souls, which I found so adorable that they inspired a Dungeons and Dragons race in my homebrew, the Shroomans.

Osiris Superhero Creation

Stage 3 of the poll has ended, with Soul Manipulation/Necromancy and Immortality/Regeneration tied for first, with Mental Manipulation/Illusion close enough 3rd to be included! We can decide what these mean in more detail later...

Stage 4 is up! In this one, we are determining the basic physical structure of the hero's body. Are they a 'normal'-looking human? An animal-headed hybrid? An owl? A giant monster? A robot? A mummified corpse? A cloud of gas? Decide!

Question of the Day:

What are you voting on the poll and why?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
Non-humanoid for now, because I think that would be funny. However, I would easily be swayed if animal-headed non-humanlike humanoid (akin to the Egyptian gods) or non-living humanoid (for the dead theming) gained traction.

I'm Going for the Non-Humanlike Humanoid. Mainly because most Egyptian Gods had human bodies but animal heads. I could see our superhero being perhaps the son of Anubis. Which of course is a bit bland since he's the son of the God of Death?!? Who figured? But I feel like with enough lore. Perhaps his father disappeared or was trapped in some curse and caused the dead in the Underworld to spiral out of control (Resulting in D-Day) and spread across Nationstates. But Anubis's son now becoming a 'Superhero' of sorts by being the janitor. Going up after a few days of the situation and cleaning the mess that was unleashed. This might be a good lore reason for why everything goes back to normal right after a traumatic apocalypse. This guy is constantly trying to take control of Death in succession to his father. But simply doesn't have the ability to be like his father. And keep everything stable. Especially since every year some idiot in management in the Underworld keeps "accidentally" letting the souls in the opposite way and back out. So yeah, a bit of a rant on how I'd imagine why this divine entity with Necromancy is similar to the Egyptian god Anubis. Thus making him a Non-Humanlike Humanoid.

Absolutely loving the new regional flag!!!
Hats off to the artist. It's absolutely super.

I like this "son of Anubis" idea. Though I'm imagining a Chihuahua-headed superhero who can fit in a handbag. With an urge to chase cats. And I'm not sure that fits with the "brains and brawn" thang.

I really like this "absent father" storyline. I would very definitely watch series 1 on Netflix.

Question of the Day:

Some of this has already been debated, but for clarity and structure:
The Regional Superhero, a divine being specialising in brains and brawn, has the chosen powers of Soul Manipulation/Necromancy, Immortality/Regeneration, and Mental Manipulation/Illusion. What specific varieties or manifestations of those powers would you like to see or feel appropriate?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
For a divine being, agelessness and a slow healing factor seems appropriate. They can still be injured, but heal from minor wounds quickly, and major wounds in mere days or weeks.
A fun combination of Soul and Mental Manipulations might be to draw inspiration from One Piece's Ghost Princess, Perona, who conjures ghosts that sap the foe's will to fight through enforced negativity, and can astrally project herself as well.
Alternatively, to instead stay truer to Osiris' theming, one fun combination might be tying it to blood. Conjuring blood spectres, manipulating corpses through their blood (perhaps granting blood to mummies), manipulating the hero's own blood, and drawing on the myth of Sekhmet to intoxicate foes with blood-mixed alcohol.

Question of the Day

If your nation were to have a patriotic superhero, what powers would they have (if any)?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
Standard aquatic and narrative abilities like the rest of the Tethysi are a given, and the ability to hear their name, know where it is being spoken and appear there shortly is also an obvious one. However, the Tethysi all have the abilities to serve as superheroes in the right circumstances, so the power that would really set this one apart would be that they could calm the Feathered Eels, that no Tethysian yet has successfully communicated with, and that cause 0.5% of the deaths in the nation.
