While surfing youtube came upon the following video (see below) of the East Germany (EG.) military parade of 1989. Question, yes, EG. politics and economy were in free fall but there military seemed fine. Why did the military not just take over when the bottom fell out of the government. Once in power they could have gone more to the right if they had chosen so. Or were the Soviets too entrenched in the EG. military. Its kind of hard to believe that any nation with a functional military, unless invaded by a stronger enemy, could collapse overnight.

The DDR technically didn’t really “collapse” the same way some countries do, the SED caved to popular demand to open elections to other parties and the party that won those elections did so on a platform of reunification. By this point the Soviets were willing to play ball and the Four + Two Agreement agreed to allow both East and West Germany full sovereignty in order to unite as a single sovereign nation.
In true German fashion, everything was done about as by-the-book as possible.
As Chancellor of the Republic of Conservative Nations, I have signed Assembly Bill 01-14, which was adopted by the General Assembly by a vote of 7-2. AB-01-14 sets the preliminary stage for a potential merger between the RCN and the Allied Conservative States. A Constitutional Convention shall commence shortly, with equal membership from the two regions, with each region reserving the right to withdraw from the proposed merger if negotiations fail to meet their approval.
You can read the tentative agreement here:
Who was he hating on?
I'm not sure it was anyone in particular, but he has emphasised white supremist ideals and promoted racism before.
