I would like to commend the great work done by Titanne as a Culture Minister. He has worked his socks off in revamping the Culture Ministry after a disappointing tenure by then-PPT member New Torask. I would also like to inform u guys that I have apologized to Creckelenney for my aggressive conduct towards him and have requested him to come back to the region. I never wanted him to leave the region, I only asked him to face by-polls for democratic accountability. For the sake of Democratic accpuntability, I had also resigned my own seat.

Royal higharchy

I urge you to vote against the current legislation in review!

Deppendants

I'll be publishing an official WA recommendation for the current GA resolution at vote, but in the present, I urge our WA residents to vote Nay on it. The resolution's topic deserves a more thorough and detailed resolution than what is currently at hand. This one is really lacking in that it fails to define how an institutional review board is composed as well as the fact that it fails to fully elaborate on the specific exemptions from the resolution. Nay for now, and when the author (or someone else) decides to strengthen the resolution and re-propose it, it'll likely have our support.

I do not agree necessary with blocking the legislation currently in the House. I think it solves many sets backs we had past term, including the crisis in the Senate.

However I noticed that section V of Amendment A is unconstitutional. Only the EC can oversee speakership elections as a neutral and independent person.

A personal announcement from Fishergate

Residents of Thaecia, I am excited to announce that I will be running for President of Thaecia at this upcoming election.

The current state of Thaecian politics disheartens me, especially as I feel at least partly responsible for letting it get this way. I want to change this for the better, bringing all sides together in cooperation and compromise to make Thaecia a more enjoyable place for everyone. From my position in the Unity Party, I do not believe this is possible. That is why I am resigning from the Unity Party, effective immediately, and pursuing election to the Presidency as an independent candidate.

I believe my record of activity and commitment in Thaecia, as well as the organisational and management skills I have acquired as Speaker of the House and Chairman of the Unity Party, prove that I have the qualifications necessary to be President. As President I will aim to facilitate inter-party relations and foster a culture of cooperation and respect that has been missing from Thaecia in recent months. I will treat all parties and individuals equally, regardless of my former affiliation, and I will not pursue any particular legislative agenda. My role as President will be to guide Thaecian politics back on a better, more enjoyable course.

For a more detailed breakdown of my plans for the Presidency, please see my campaign factbook:

Fishergate for President

Allow me to introduce myself

My name is Fishergate and I'm running to be President of Thaecia.

I have served as a Member of Parliament in Thaecia's House of Commons since early May and have led the House as Speaker since early July. During this time I am proud to say that I've contributed significantly to Thaecia's legislation, helping to shape our region for the better.

I have also served as Chairman of the Unity Party of Thaecia, helping to grow the party from a disparate blob of smaller parties without any real defining characteristics into one of Thaecia's most dominant political entities.

However, I now see Thaecian politics in a state of disarray. Party politics trumps all and cooperation is beyond reasonable expectation. This is a tragedy, and is so far from what I hoped for when I took over as Chairman of the Unity Party.

For the future of Thaecia

Thaecia's politics is broken and I want to fix it.

Political parties are refusing to co-operate and division and discord have become Thaecia's defining features. I don't want politics in Thaecia to be this way, none of us do, but as the Unity Party's Chairman of the last two months, I feel largely responsible for what Thaecian politics has become.

That's why I want to fix it; NationStates should be a place where people can have fun, not one where they have to endure seemingly endless arguments on the regional message board. I hope we will be able to put partisan divisions behind us and reunite under a more enjoyable, less divisive political environment.

Taking an independent lead

Party politics cannot solve Thaecia's partisan political problem.

I recognise the failures of the Unity Party in dealing with partisan divisions and the role it has played in instigating them. This is why I will no longer seek elected office as a Unity Party member, but instead as an independent.

As an independent President, I will make it my duty to uphold the values of co-operation and respect. I will facilitate inter-party relations as much as possible with the aim of ensuring parties work together to solve Thaecia's problems, rather than adding to them. I will also work closely with the executive branch of government, which will hopefully include a diverse array of individuals from across Thaecia's political landscape. In doing so, I hope to end this culture of spite and disdain which has become endemic in Thaecian politics. With your help, I will put Thaecia back together again.

Active and committed

You can trust Fishergate to be there for Thaecia.

I believe my record of activity and commitment during my time in Thaecia proves that I have the qualifications needed to be President. Over the five months I have been an MP, I have not once missed a vote in the House of Commons. Over the three months I have been Speaker of the House, I have maintained a tight schedule to ensure the House is as productive as possible. I have managed to be active on NationStates and/or Thaecia's discord almost every day since I first got involved in Thaecian politics, and that's despite sitting the most important exams of my life during that time.

What I hope this proves to you is that you can trust me to always be around when Thaecia needs me, no matter what challenges or hardships I'm facing in the region, or in real life. I will always be here, ready and willing to fulfil my duties as President, whether that be updating the World Assembly centre, monitoring the work of government and the Thaecian Executive Staff, or simply acknowledging nominations to the Order of Thaecia. Our region deserves an active and committed President and that is what I will be.

Have hope for a better Thaecia, and vote for Fishergate.

The marconian state

Dang, everyone wants to run as an independent now, huh? Can't blame them too much, but at the same time, and I've brought this up before, if someone leaves a party not due to ideological change or differences, but rather opportunity, you kind of already know what their positions are based on their former party. A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet, and all that. So what's the point then, really?

Fishergate, I wish you luck in your campaign, but I'm personally not quite convinced.
