Serbia in 1912

After centuries of anti-Ottoman struggle, Serbia has not only achieved independence and thrown off the Ottoman yoke but also expanded, reclaiming much of its lost territory and spreading into areas it claims under the pretense of national liberation of all Serbs and creation of one great Serbian state. Large swaths of land find themselves under Belgrade administration, stretching from the great Panonian plains to the Albanian mountain peaks, a Great Serbia in unification.

But not everything is great for Serbia. As the Turkish menace slowly returns, Serbia finds itself once again at the frontier of Europe and might find itself threatened as the recovering man greedily demands more. And that is not to speak of the decaying Habsburg realm where every Serb along their brothers yearns for freedom. Even within the borders things are looking dire. The conquered peoples in Vardar Macedonia and Albania are growing disloyal, with demands of their own freedom. It seems like the very life of the Albanian governor and his counterpart in Macedonia are in danger as is the very structure of the lands.

The Prancing Dragon

Shifting from within the shadows dominating the corners of the room had stirred Nam-Il from his slumber. He had been jumpy since making landfall in Kyoto, and the derelict and rundown state of the inn where they had figured to use as a place to rest their heads from a long week of travel had helped matters none. The shady man that had passed them all each a fistful of yen crammed into yellowing envelopes over the filthy pub table in Busan promised to meet them at the docks upon their arrival had yet to make an appearance. He had attempted to persuade them, in accented Korean, that they could do much better work for the Provisional Government if they were to follow the directives of his "agency". Nam-Il wasn't really convinced, but his two friends had been drawn in with wide-eyed idealism, and he was not one to abandon those close to him. Fear stabbed his heart for a moment as he dreamt up ways that the man could have set them up, or the Kempeitai had found out and cornered them, but it settled back into calm as he observed no further movement from the corner he had been burning his gaze into. He rested his head back onto his pillow, expecting to find the comfort of his pistol beneath the leaky cloth. His eyes widened when he found it missing.

The sole lightbulb erupted into life, bathing the room in a warm, orange light, rousing the other two from their sleep. A geisha was seated next to the entrance to the room, one hand on the light switch. Under normal circumstances, Nam-Il would appreciate the sight of a petite, pretty woman, but he was utterly and completely terrified. His two friends reached into their respective weapon spots as well, and came up equally empty. This wasn't the way he wanted to go, all three of them cornered by a dame three-quarters the size of the smallest of them. The thought that the geisha didn't look like much of a Kempeitai operative crossed his mind just as the lady moved her painted face towards him to speak.

"What a waste of funds you all are."

Her voice was light and soothing, in complete contrast with the insults that were now flowing out.

"Completely inept, no wonder you lost your country."

She closed her eyes and rubbed her temple with her fan, before affixing her gaze on Nam-Il. Her eyes were slanted and slender, he noticed, in a way not very common in the Japanese.

"You there. You're the head fool, are you not? You report to me now. Try not to die."

She rose up in an elegant fashion, nonchalantly dumping their weapons out of her lap, and sliding a card along the floor to the foot of Nam-Il's bed. Untidy scrawlings in Chinese decorated it, an address and time of sorts. She had already vanished from his sight when he looked up again, his own confused eyes meeting with those of his friends, all three whispering something along the lines of "Whoa."

"Вещи можно видеть, но не мыслить, идеи же, напротив, можно мыслить, но не видеть."
- Платон, Государство

Sayan Alexeyevich Yusov stood with his mouth hanging slightly open, gazing upwards at the gate that lay before him. It was a massive iron creation, roughly three times his own height, the top line curving in symmetry until peaked by a gilded two-headed eagle, further topped by a crown. Behind him loomed the likeness of an angel bearing a cross, staring at the back of his neck from atop its granite column and giving him goosebumps. Though he could sense the regular bustle of St. Petersburg behind him, it seemed almost as if the rest of the world was drowned out by the blood that now pumped in his ears. The twin heads of the eagles suddenly parted, and he closed his mouth, looking now ahead of him as the gate swung open. A young man stood beyond them, clothed in distinctive military dress uniform: mostly of a drab blue material, with gold epaulets and a striking red lapel that extended all the way down the man's chest, dotted by golden buttons. One of the Life-Guards, Sayan thought to himself as he stepped forward. The other man stared at him, and did not move. Half-heartedly, he attempted to salute the soldier, but when that generated no immediate response he regretted his decision, and lowered his arm awkwardly.

At length, Sayan attempted to introduce himself. "I...I'm Professor Yusov, from the St. Petersburg Imperial University, Faculty of Philosophy...I believe the Tsar--" He caught himself. Too informal! "...I mean, His Imperial Majesty, is expecting me." The soldier held Sayan's gaze for an uncomfortable amount of time, then looked him over at his leisure. Finally, he nodded, and said curtly, "Follow me, Professor." The man then turned on a dime and began to walk into the court garden. Haltingly at first, Sayan followed, now painfully aware of his informality within the extreme formality of the palace. Here he was, following around a member of the Preobrazhensky Regiment in nothing but his shabby everyday overcoat, herringbone trousers, and worn leather shoes. Hell, even his briefcase felt out of place.

He was led off to his right, up a flight of stairs, past rooms full of gold pillars, statues of military heroes long dead, and finally into the Throne Room. At the very end of a very long hall, adorned most incredibly, sat Little Nicky himself on his throne, adorned in formal wear and alone. The soldier abruptly halted just inside the doorway, turned on his heels again and stood aside. Sayan turned his head and stared at the festooned man with a mixture of confusion and betrayal. What the hell am I supposed to do now?! Momentarily, his head swung back to look at the Tsar. Suddenly the room seemed to elongate in front of him, and he became conscious of a sheen of sweat forming on his forehead and about his nose. As he was about to take his first step forward--a momentous occasion indeed--he heard a soft voice from the other end of the room: "Please, do come in! There is no need for formalities." Sayan halted mid-stride, befuddled, as he could not discern the source of the voice due to the acoustics of the room. It took him a moment to realize that it was the Tsar who had spoken--to him! Directly! He could feel a prickling sensation on his cheeks, and knew then that he was flushed with...what? Embarrassment or pride?

Now emboldened, he strode brusquely up to the throne in a span of time that felt like forever. The reverence with which he had entered had left him now, and he was on the brink of looking the Tsar and Autocrat of all Russia in the eye and saying, "Hello! Nasty weather, isn't it?" as if they were old friends from the University. Thankfully, he caught himself, and relegated his introduction to "Good afternoon, Your Imperial Majesty. I am Professor Yusov, and I am most honored to make your acquaintance." He followed this with an awkward bow of sorts, and waited with bated breath for the Tsar's next words.

Instead of an immediate reply, he heard footsteps approach him, and a hand was laid on his shoulder. "I told you, my good man, there is no need for this. Up you come! And don't slouch!" Sayan was startled by this and abruptly straightened up, finding himself now face-to-face with Nicholas II of Russia. Initially, he thought that he was being reproached for his bowing form, but the Tsar's eyes were twinkling merrily and he was smiling, so he figured it was safe to say that the last remark had been a joke. All Sayan could muster in response to this--imagine having a joke told to you by the Tsar!--was, "Y...yes, si--I mean, Your Imperial Majesty." He followed this up with an embarrassed smile, and he grew even more red than before. "Please," the Tsar said, holding out his hand, "call me Nicholas. Referring to me as 'Your Imperial Majesty' will get dreadfully boring for the both of us, if we are to work together at length." Sayan looked down at the outstretched hand, back up at the Tsar's face, then down at the hand again in an instant, and shook it vigorously. A boyish grin came over his face, and he replied, "Well, I suppose it will, though I'm not sure I will get used to it." The Tsar chuckled a little. "Once you've stopped thinking about it, it will come to you naturally. I assure you, I have enough diplomats and officials verbosely flattering me as it is, there's no need for you to do the same. Come, let us go somewhere less open and more conversational, and I'll pour you a drink."

Controversy Surrounding Lowering of Military Budget
The president of Romania has proposed lowering the military budget of Romania, and use the money for urban development and economic development, especially in cities like Bucharest, Constanta and Cluj.

However, the proposal has stirred up some controversy. Currently, most of the military defends the northern and southern borders, next to Ukraine and the Ottoman Empire respectively. If the military budget is lowered, the border military will be much weaker, leaving Dobruja and the south, maybe even Bucharest in danger, and the same can be said in the north with Bessarabia.

Some people, however, state that Romania is not in a state of war, and is very stable. As long as the government can maintain good relations with neighbouring countries, the military budget can be lowered a little, and make more room for development.

A New Model for Dutch Africa

Theo Heemskerk, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, has unveiled the government's new model for Dutch Africa following the failings of direct administration. The ARP (Anti-Revolutionary Party) originally supported the direct administration of all of Dutch Africa, however, this has failed despite two-thirds of all Dutch civil workers being located in Africa following the government's attempts to maintain direct administration.

After seeing the budget projections for the cost of direct administration, Prime Minister Heemskerk decided to quit before tons of resources would be wasted. Instead, the government has taken a pragmatic look into the various pre-existing colonial structures in Dutch Africa to find the model that works best was the claim made by the Prime Minister. As such the two colonies of Southern Nigeria and the Congo have come to light. Of these, the model of Southern Nigeria has been chosen as one to be applied to the wild territories of Grand Wilhelmina and Angola.

This new model relies on three non-governmental entities to administer Dutch Africa in the government's stead: The Church, Plantations and Companies. As it stands the Church of the Netherlands is the largest provider of both religious ceremonies and social services while independent companies such as The Central African Railway Company and The Congo Mining Company and various independent plantations the largest of which is the Nigerian Palm Oil Company have proven to be the largest sources of employment for both natives and Dutchmen. Heemskerk's policy is to closely work with the church, companies and plantations to develop and civilize Dutch Africa by providing government funding.

The Social Democratic Workers Party (SDAP) has criticized Heemskerk's policy saying that regulation is needed in order to protect the Dutch worker from larger companies and that this policy effectively gives companies far to much power in Dutch Africa.

Bill For Voting Rights Passed
Recently, there was a bill proposed by the Romanian president to give voting rights of all sorts, such as presidential votings and parliament member votings to all adult males. Soon later, the bill was passed by the parliament by a large margin. Most citizens support the bill as it gives more rights to the public.

The president has given a speech after the bill passed. "The recent bill will give more rights to our citizens to decide the future of our country, and can also fulfill democracy. This will also help stabilize the country and unite the Romanians further, as more rights are given to the citizens."

Adalaide Farm convention.
De Mole say at his pitch, pipe in his mouth. He had another model made, this time with a rope behind, towing a cart, with sacks in the back. With the motto, "rough terrain is a thing of the past". Now, he wasn't here to get people to buy it, but someone who'd build his invention, one of the smaller, but very viable, Australian farming reps.

He was soon approached by a an older gentleman, one carrying a clipboard. He approached the machine, sizing it up. Mole stopped puffing on his pipe, looking the man over, "can I help you? I see the Lancelot has captured your eye."

"well sir it has, most definitely. I am however interested in its capabilities. How much did you say it could carry?"

"well, this model can very easily carry about 100 kilograms of produce. It can also climb an embankment of about 43°, while carrying said load. Also, it can tow a trailer of about 1 tonne plus 25kg."

"You've got a fine machine on paper there. However, I'm afraid however that's all it is."

"well, sir- I raise you the model is working, if not only much smaller." as he come upto the machine, putting him inside, "At this scale, I am similar to 100kg. The driver is accounted for outside of 100kg carry weight."

He then engages the engine, allowing it to rev. As he moves it forward, the man soon realises that the machine hits a steep slope and climbs over it, with little pain. He then swings the machine around," so, how was that?"

"Hannah tell the men to prepare my ride and get me a cup of coffee during the process. "

Jonathan Smith already prepared to attend the Sunday service waits patiently in his office watching the city and the wasatch mountains covered in snow left by the usual weather of this time of the year. Smith was a devout member of the mormon church though wasn't as much of a strong fallower as many he knew, rather only attending because he grew up used to it. Though today he was invited to speak in front of the congregation in the mormon tabernacle and as usual doing his religious activity in the temple in which only few enter.

"sir your ride is ready and your coffee is aswell... I also wanted to inform you that General Carson will be attending you at the temple." Hannah one of Jonathan servants quietly informs walks in suprising the young man.

"Very well thank you. Take these days off Hannah enjoy it with your family."

Jonathan quickly leaves his office and heads to his vehicle not wanting to be late like the times he had before. Finally the vehicle left, passing through the famous south temple road and enjoying his coffee greeting the citizens walking in the streets.

"I guess I wont be late after all."

Finally he reaches the temple and steps out the vehicle. Instantly fellow church members come and greet him... being greeted by many he didn't noticed the ice on the side walk inmeaditaly tripping.

"Good there Johnny?"

"Shut up Aaron"

"Angry there President Johnny"

"No Aaron now hurry up I dont want to be late like the last time."

Jonathan Smith and Aaron Carson have rather a long history starting since their childhood to being Jonathan's most trusted in his government and the one chosen to lead the successful invasion of Kansas.

"General after this service I need to speak to you about rather important topic about the west"

"Oh no.."

It's been awhile since i have posted these type of stuff... it's rusty alright

For We Believe

A wave of optimism is sweeping through China's middle class like a raging wildfire, believing that the victory of the fledgling Republic in the Xinhai War, now having finally consolidated rule over most of the vast territories of the Qing Dynasty and inheriting the budding industries developed by the Guangxu Emperor prior to his murder in the Forbidden City, marks the start of a bright future for all China, even when to the Northeast the Japanese are poking for weaknesses along the Yalu, and to the Southwest the Dalai Lama's Armies clash with Hui Muslim National Revolutionary Army units in the mountains of Qinghai over iredentist claims Tibet had laid over the region. The invigoration of national unity and national pride comes as a boon to the Nanking government, in stark contrast to the despondent mood cast over the land when the Qing were waning. The Kuomintang have taken this into their stride, proclaiming that they had ushered in an era of National Rejuvenation and no longet shall a Chinese government allow for its peoples to be humiliated and slayed by intruding foreigners, cementing support for the new regime in the hearts of the Chinese populace. Whether it will actually act on its promises, however, remains to be seen, and within the shadows the shattered Monarchist movements have been assimilated into or crushed by the Ming restorationist movement.

Defend the North

In vote by the Tripartite Council, the Army and Navy voted in favour of concentrating the assets planned military modernization program in the north, opposed by Sun Yat-sen, who believed there to be a less provocative stance the Republic can take, and perhaps that China can accommodate Japanese interests in order to forge a Pan-Asian Front. With the Council voting 2-1 in favour of strengthening the north, it is believed by many Chinese political and military commentators that the Republic of China has backtracked on the Guangxu Emperor's vision for a Sino-Japanese alliance, and that the Middle Kingdom is on a path of confrontation, Japanese attempts of establishing spheres of influence in China via the Beiyang warlords in the north while the Qing forces were disintegrating after the Battle of Xi'an having vanquished any doubt in the KMT Right Wing that the Japanese were the enemy. The Statistics and Information unit of the NRA has also been covertly activated by order of the National Defense Council, and authorized to use lethal means of suppressing possible Japanese sympathizers and Japanese intelligence operatives themselves. The SIU are by no means the only spooks to move, with the Pro-Ming Pearl River Society operating within and beyond China already having neutralized several suspected Japanese assets in the South. Arms would have to be procured from Europe or the Americas, with China's present industry in no shape to equip the outlined Dongbei Army of 25 divisions and the Peking Guard of 5 divisions. Most middlemen employed by Nanking made their way to London, though a few found themselves in Moscow, Paris, and even Amsterdam.

A Faithful Front

The Indochinese Republic to the South represents a viable and loyal ally to the ROC, with the populace there having tasted imperialism and having stood adamantly against it. Unlike Japan, Indochina as it stands does not have designs upon the Chinese mainland, nor does it dream of ruling over other sovereign Asian territories. Calls within the Yuan have thus arisen, demanding that China guarantee the independence of their comrades to the South, though the current state of the Republic leaves it unable to defend itself, much less stand up for others.

Filipino nationalism on the rise.
Due to the many years of solitary neglect and no small amount of agitation from local industries. The streets today were filled with marches and picket lines. Signs reading “Somos filipinos, no españoles” and “Larga vida a la madre Filipinas” we’re common sights and sent the Philippine parliament into disarray. So the independence question became prominent, and the parliament was convened with the feelings of dread and a excited fervor in the air. Many liberals called for a referendum to determine if the Filipino people long for freedom. If they wished to remain within the empire then nothing need change, but if not... The prime minister, apart of the Frente liberal met with the Spanish delegation saying “Perhaps, for once, we should let the people decide their own fate.” The Spanish delegation, knowing they had almost certainly lost control and not wishing to send in the troops, who they knew all to well were Filipino. Decided for one last roll of the dice. “Indeed we shall see, an empire is built of many people and seeing your status this is your road to walk. Madrid will be appeased no matter your decision.” Thus the check was signed.

Arguments in parliament
Cortez rose “Sirs surely you can see the benefits that the empire has brought us? The security the industry we all owe this to España! Why should we abandon our mother if she’s treated so?!?” He cried the rest of the conservatives backed this sentiment, the referendum had come as a shock. Where did the independence parties get the money? This stank of the corporations, long had they wished for more sway in government and a new one would be easily persuaded. “Are we not all sons and daughters of our mother country surely you can see the insanity of this! This serves merely to divide the people and sow disarray.”

Parliamentarian Duran stood for a rebuttal. “Certainly, Spain has secured our industry—but what have they done to secure us as a people? They have done nothing but lord over us and enforce their rules, their customs, and their own haughty upper class. We must be ourselves the masters of our own destiny!” The Independence Party, a branch of the Frente de liberación his main support base in Parliament, responded with raucous applause. Soon enough, even the more radical parties were standing. Their leader, Marcos, began to speak: “The people of the Philippines must decry the rampant, oppressive Spanish imperial system, and form a workers’ and farmers’ government! We must declare independence, for the sake of the whole working class!” This last speak was met with a murmur of agreement. The majority agreed what was the harm in referendum? The Philippines was all but independent but in name. Should the flag change why would Madrid truly care.

This is when the prime minister decided to appear. “Sirs I think that is enough bickering. Let us get to the vote. Yay or nay should we allow the people a say their fate?” He stood in the center his assistant with a chart of all the seats. A wave of voices overcame him. Of all of them he heard “this is the doom of us all!” A last plea from the conservative representative, he smiled. The assistant came over to him and told him the outcome. “It seems we are done here. Against the referendum 67, 83 for, motion passed. Let us get to the polls Gentlemen you have a month.” He smiled nervously. Things were getting very interesting it seems.

Organization and the lot
While Madrid was in shambles as the parliament argued about who was to blame many blaming the liberals in power, the paper work nonetheless had to be made. So wishing to avoid open rebellion documents were drawn up and borders for what counts as the Philippines made. In the end the whole archipelago was set up into boundaries and borders drawn. The other smaller island chains had been decided not to be effected by the vote, like for example Guam and her sister islands. The Philippines should get population prove to want the illusion of freedom, would agree to pay market price for the cost of the forts built and other defensive measures taken by Spain. Along with the purchase or return of the already present arms and armaments supplied to the Filipino army. A point was also made to allow Spanish legion recruitment to continue. They also agreed that all Spanish businesses would be guaranteed as well as citizenship for all Spanish colonists that wished to remain. As well as the agreement of a free trade deal with Spain. On the other hand Spain agreed to establish an embassy in the new county, supply if offered training of a new Filipino army and be the First nation to recognize its independence as well as remove all naval and army presence from the fledgling nation. These terms were passed through the Spanish parliament with a vote of 123 for, 77 against.

Unrest in Albania

Serbia has never been good at occupying Albania. Ever since day one there was slight unrest, usually expressed as general minor disobedience and refusal of cooperation along with relatively uncommon acts of public dissent and terrorism. However, in more recent times, this has only escalated. Unrest becoming more common along with more legal calls for independence from mainstream spheres of politics. This all has culminated in great protests on 19th of March when people have taken to the streets in all major cities in Albania. Protests started peacefully but they quickly spiraled out of control as demands for violence were made against the Serbian government and local leadership. If it were not for the hasty response of the loyalist police, military governor Essad Pasha Toptani, the protesters' scapegoat, would find himself dead.

Over the next few days, the loyalist police fended the increasingly violent growing protests until the Serbian army intervened on the day 5 of the protests. The army efficiently dispersed the protests and extrajudicially arrested the leaders of the protest. The death count varies from 23 by the official press up to 100 by the opposition with numerous more wounded. Most of the arrested were subsequently released while Mihal Turtulli and Aziz Vrioni await trial.

During the next few month, Albania stayed under martial law, transitioning to a autonomous system of government: Serbian autonomous province of Albania (SAO Albanija) which would ultimately quell most, but not all of the calls for independence by ensuring local governance and a degree of national self-determination. Kosovo is not going to be a part of this polity but will instead forcefully stay integrated into Serbia.

Paris Commune 2: Versailles Boogaloo
November 7 , 1912
Versailles Weapons Barrack

The cold winds of Versailles overtook the layered clothing of the men. Tired and exhausted, they had come from all parts of France to participate in the forthcoming event. Foggy and late in the night, the streets of the city were quiet and empty. The participants, a group of three-hundred men, were gathered in on a hilltop position, overlooking Versailles. Their target, close to nought point two kilometers away and secluded from the downtown districts, was the Versailles Weapons barracks. It was a minor establishment in the city, only bearing small arms, but a significant target for the Workers to strike. From the little information collected over the few weeks, the Workers knew that the barrack was not heavily guarded by any sorts. From recording the counts the guards, it laid close to fifty guards. Compared to the Workers, the soldier was well armed with a rifle and a sidearm. Most of the the Workers however, only carried modified melee weapons and if in ownership of one, small arms. What the contingent of socialists strived for was quantity over quality. That meant more men in small raids and fewer quality weapons. However, with this raid, they believe it will allow the bourgeoisie succumb to the power. The ultimate effect of this socialist uprising, is to eventually gain full power of the Republic.

It is now two past eleven. The Workers are ready to lay hell on the barrack. Leading the attack, is the French Workers' Party journalist, Jules Guesde. His plan, to raid and collect the weapons in under an hours notice. He begins marching his men across the hill and into the fenced area around the barrack and they begin cutting it, allowing a large, wide hole to be left to slip through. A guard overheard the commotion exiting from the corner of the wall. He began coming closer and closer to the noise and as he sliped around the corner, he noticed many men, dressed in black, armed with many weapons, breaching the barrack's fence. "Intrus! Intrus!" the guard had shouted.

Soon the barrack was at a scramble, as sirens and whistles began flaring up, and the clicking of French boots emerged. Soon, Jules Guesde and his Workers began pouring into the barrack and what stood in front of them was a large, 10 foot wall. Ropes and ladders were brought and the worker's stormed up and over the walls. The guards were at confusion, their officers in their own quarrel. The Workers ran down the stone stairs leading to the courtyard and began their attack. The first shots from the guards soon followed after and the barrack erupted into a state of dismay. Although, those shots were fired at will, they were uncoordinated and frankly the aim was regarded as a "blind man's shot in the night". As for Guesde and his men, they were savage and ill-coordinated beasts, swinging at and shooting at whatever was presumed to be the enemy. One worker took a large lance and rammed it into one of the guards, piercing his abdomen and sending him down with extreme pain."Vive le Travailleurs!" he shouted, and soon everyone else. It had soon turned into a unified attack, orchestrated by the sheer will of those words. Soon, the casualties began to rise and the guards and their officers were suddenly retreating over the barrack walls, scrambling to safety. How the workers had managed to violate the security that was maintained throughout the barrack was undeniably surprising, and yet for one, amusing. The soldiers, however, stood their ground outside the barrack door, some thirty or so men were left, including their officers. The Workers inside had secured the barrack and had now trapped themselves inside. Humiliating for one, astonishing on the other.

By the time it had been around midnight, the men inside were becoming lethargic. But morale was not low, as the spirit of the Workers was revived at the thought that they had achieved their goal. Jules Guesde, stood atop on one of the ladders and signaled the guards outside, possibly making insults and blabbering about the bourgeoisie. His companion of Workers, both cheering and chanting, threw their hats in the air. Unfortunately, it did not take long before one of the guards aimed his rifle at Guesde. He shot him in the eye, sending him plummeting down ten feet into the mud, an almost certainly brutal death for one. The men inside, turned to stone, as a few seconds earlier they could not believe what had happened...and now, they could not believe what had happened. Suddenly, the spirit had been broken of the men, they were now vulnerable.

About seven hours had passed since the incident. The guards and Workers stood their ground in what was presumed as a very unorthodox stalemate. By now, news had already reached Paris of this humiliation of failed security, only blamed by of course, French incompetence. To combat this major insurrection, French high command ordered a battalion of three-hundred soldiers, accompanied by two field guns, to assist in taking back the barrack. The Workers, themselves, were completely battered physically and emotionally, as this was the first many of them had come so close to death. The thought however still lingered, even though the words of Jules Guesde had provoked such a large eruption of support, it had not provided the emotional support that the event had bared. For one, the scene had been bloody. Stabbed heads, bloody crates, mud that had been fused with blood, carnage in its entirety; it was a scene of war.

The battalion had arrived by train at five past nine, and had proceeded to march to the barrack. The barrack had not seen much fighting since the night before, which was an outstanding feat considering the amount of bloodshed that had occurred among the men. "Positions!" yelled one of the officers. The two field guns rolled into place, and aimed at the door along with a mixture of guards and soldiers to accompany them. The artillery officer dropped his arm and two loud booms came into contact with the building, sending men, rocks, and guns to all to fall. "Charge!" yelled the officer and a swarm of Frenchmen came charging through the fences and concrete walls, yelling cries of war, and into the mud and blood filled wreck-of-the-barrack. It soon became evident that brute warfare was necessary as butts of rifles came crashing into enemy heads and bayonets clashed with unorthodox weaponry. Most of the Workers tried to find the way out due to their fear of the situation. But, as any good tale endures, the numbers of the Workers soon crumbled. The socialist French empire Jules Geusde had dreamed of was now only a minor conflict in the courtyard of a weapons barrack in Versailles. The French battalion had taken minor losses because of the fact that the blasts of the cannons had killed most of the men due to the fallen debris. At a quarter past nine, on November 9th, 1912, the Workers dropped their weapons, and surrendered. For a second, it was quiet as for a second, you could hear your own breath. "Huzah!" yelled the victors; it was a moment of joy and relief. The carnage, gone, the pain, gone, the undeniable truth that this was indeed a meme, gone... What was left was blood, fear, and anguish as for this was indeed a very, very ravage alliteration between 2 very different parties of people.. The losses: two-hundred dead, forty-five injured, one-hundred twenty-five prisoners. Could I have possibly done this post better? Yes. Did I save my country from becoming a commie melting pot of a meme? Yes. Does this mean that the French are now stronk? Stay tuned next time.

Управлять многими — то же, что управлять немногими. Дѣло въ организаціи.
-- Сунь-цзы, «Искусство войны»

Sayan rested the glass of alcohol on the arm of the chair he was sitting in, eyeballing its contents. He had taken a sip when handed the glass by the Tsar, and couldn't quite place it. Definitely foreign, whatever it was, and strong. The two of them were now sitting in a small sitting room, decorated with the same splendor as the rest of the Winter Palace, but much more intimate. Tsar Nicholas sat across from him, in a highbacked leather chair, and between them was a small coffee-table with a samovar perched atop it, along with two cups and saucers.

Caught up in his own thoughts, Sayan did not notice the Tsar staring at him quizzically until the other man queried, "Speak your mind, my good man, you look troubled." Sayan looked abashed, and responded, "Oh!...Well, this is the first time I've ever,...well..." Tsar Nicholas cut in. "...met the leader of a country before?" he finished the sentence for Sayan, smiling a little. "Or drinking with one, as a matter of fact." Sayan chuckled a little at his own joke, and to his relief the Tsar chuckled as well. "I don't get to meet with those I rule over nearly as much as I'd like. It's quite irritating sometimes, when I'm left wandering the halls here looking at paintings of the beautiful Russian land instead of seeing it for myself." He seemed almost melancholy, which Sayan had not expected and did not know how to deal with, so he just sat there a little dumbfounded for a moment.

To break the silence, Sayan finally got to a point that he had wanted to touch on since he had walked into the Palace. "Your Im--I mean, Nicholas, I must confess myself somewhat baffled as to the reason for you requesting my services. Would you mind enlightening me?" The Tsar, instead of answer immediately, stared out of the nearest window in a pensive trance. At length, he asked, "As a professor of philosophy, I assume that you are familiar with Plato's 'Republic'?" Sayan was startled by this new development, and sat a little straighter in his chair. "Of course. In fact, it's required reading material for one of the courses I teach." The Tsar paused before asking another question: "And so you are familiar with Plato's concept of the 'philosopher king'?"

Finally, Sayan understands. "You want to become a philosopher king‽" Nicholas sighed. "In short, yes. My rule has been marred with incompetency, on my part and that of my officials. I am not nearly as educated as I appear to be in matters of the State, or War, or anything related to the care of a nation. I believe that, to preserve my rule and to strengthen this nation which I so love, I must formally be educated in these matters. Only then, by becoming a 'philosopher king,' can I hope to unify the nation once again."

Sayan sat with his mouth agape for what seemed like forever. Then, he closed it, gulped down the rest of the foreign alcohol, and said, "Well, no time like the present."

Fun Times

With the apparent secession of the lower areas of Turkestan to form an independent Muslim Republic, the Empire has determined that, to aid a friendly neighbor and prevent further disruptions to its stability, the best option is to send aid to Turkestan in the form of my fuggin army peacekeeping units that will be headquartered within certain major cities (Akmolinsk [Astana], Tashkent, Almaty, and Askhabad [Ashgabat]). There will be 100,000 peacekeepers sent in the first weeks (25,000 per city), along rail lines: one section will travel from Tobolsk down through Petropavlovsk [Petropavl], Atbasarsk and finally to Akmolinsk; another will take the line from Orenburg straight to Tashkent; yet another will start from Tomsk, and take the rail through Semipalatinsk [Semey], Sergiopol [Ayagoz], and finally to Almaty; the last will travel from Orenburg, Samarkand, and on to Askhabad. On arrival, the troops will await instruction, and then disperse further at the command of their respective headquarters.

Build up
It has been one year since Lithuania gained her Independence from the Russian Empire and the fledgling nation has begun to face the issues that come with a new nation one of the main Issues is the army or lack thereof the only form of a Military in the country are Lithuanians who volunteered with the Germans to fight and then remained in Lithuania after the war and the officer corps is a mixture of Lithuanians who served with the Imperial Russian army and those who where trained by the Germans. If Lithuania is to remain independent it must have an army to defend herself against any enemy so King Mindaugas II has organised a meeting with the defence Minister Mykolas Velykis who had come prepared with ways to structure the new army.

"Your majesty thank you for taking the time to meet with me as you may know Lithuania currently lacks a military to defend herself agiasnt any potential enemies the Prime minister and i have been discussing how to best structure this military" the defence minister would hand the King a file with the seal of the Ministry of defence on the front he would open it and read the file Mindaugas would put the file down and look at the defence minister "You have my approval minister and the bill will get my Royal assent" with that the defence minister would leave and the plans to build a Lithuiana military would be put into action.
