Arabian socialist union was a part of the RDP when it still existed. TDS gave it weapons technology and stuff along with protection if he became TDS's vassal. ASU agreed.

Later, ASU decided Communism was stupid (as we all do) and became the Arabian imperial empire. AIE said that he was no longer TDS's vassal because he had a different government, therefore being a coward. It was technically legal, but it was unrealistic. So the RDP, once a massive war machine, declared war before we realized he rage quit.

You are really more of a vassal.
If you were a protectorate, then you would probably not be called into war and would instead be treated as an independent economic benefactor. Instead, you are forced to do as you are commanded.

The Kroswell then parks, and a soldier opens the door for the General.

The Oberst then escorts the General Inside, but before taking him past the door, he turns around and looks straight at the General. “Sir, you must understand that this is an extremely special privilege you have been granted. No foreign officer has been inside the General Staff before, and I must warn you that there is a certain amount of caution you must take when entering. Anything that happens in this building stays in this building unless we, and therefore the Ehrenkanzler, have given explicit authority to you to bring any news from here to your government. Understood?”
