Argonia and black marsh

The Empire of Tamriel: Riften 26th Sun's Height, 4E 203

Out of the forest emerges an Argonian and a Nord leading a frost troll on a tether up to the gate of Skyrim's seediest city, Riften. The incredulous guards gather round pointing at the weathered travelers as they draw closer. As the duo approach they stop suddenly and the Argonian hands off the reins to the troll to the Nord and approaches the guards alone.

"What is your business in Riften?" A guard asks as the red scales of the Argonian are close enough to distinguish.

"I am on business here on behalf of the Guild. You know this token." Fumbling around for a moment in a handsack at his side the Argonian pulls out a special token and some spare coin and hands it to the guard.

"Ah...I remember you somewhat. You may enter....but what is this with you?" The guard points past the Argonian at the troll on a leash and the other guards behind him laugh.

"My associate and I managed to capture this creature in the mountains. We have been stuck low on food and buffeted by dangers and the elements far more than I can explain right now. We wish to sell this creature to the merchants and buy food and basic supplies." The red Argonian wearily sighs.

"I bet! But either way I believe there is an..errr. what do you call it Mack?" the guard looks back and asks his comrade.

"That dangerous animal fee you mean boss!" The guard apparently named Mack replies back and the guards all laugh.

"We are very low on coin. I can give you all we have." The Argonian turns his small handbag upside down and three septims fall out and a half eaten stale sweetroll. The guards double over with laughter.

"Oh partner we don't mean the coin, it looks like that ebony armor your wearing might cover it." The guard points to the dinged and dented weathered ebony armor of the Argonian. "Besides it looks in poor condition anyhow."

"If you can take it from me you can have it." The Argonian smirks at the guards and suddenly turns invisible to their alarm. They scramble about trying to find him only to see the gate open and bit and creak shut again and the red tip of the Argonians tail pass through the entrance to Riften. When they turn back the Nord and the troll are gone as well.

Splashing clumsily out of the water, Ajax and Madai lift Trollz unto the docks of a nice house into Riften in the dark of the night. Sandy the sabercat clinging painfully to Trollz with her claw scrambles out of the water and shakes herself off. The trio quickly enter a decent vacant but furnished safehouse on the docks that the Argonian Assassin entered earlier in the day and apparently has some connection to his organization. Trollz and Madai eagerly eat as much food as they can find in the place for a few hours in happy silence while Ajax looks through the contents of the house chest by chest and drawer by drawer. Taking whatever seems of value, and fully feasted they go over their plan to get to Cyrodil.

Having been slowed down and undersupplied when they had found the entrance to the Pale Pass they decided to spend nearly a month more making the trek to Riften to acquire what is needed. Having arrived now they settle in and lay low and recuperate from the months of journey for some time. Ajax disappears nightly and returns with cash or provisions as well as news of the goings on of Tamriel in their long journey in the wilderness. It appears that many nations and factions have collapsed in the intervening time, but back home in Ajax's native province of Argonia some factions have re-emerged from the power vacuum like Argonia and black marsh and Goodnamesarealltakenvania, which heartened the old veteran shadowscale. More direly it has been darkly rumored that the Pale Pass has become infested with Falmer. Whispers go around that the Black Reach, the rumored massive underground land of the Falmer and strange creatures and dangers may be growing even into the Jerall Mountains.

------------------------

For about a month the party lays low in Riften and gathers provisions for the dangerous journey ahead, stocking up on food and repairing their tattered equipment. One night when Ajax leaves the safehouse just at the crack of dawn Madai transforms back into his human form in his closed off room. Recovering somewhat and noticing the Argonian slip out he sits there looking at the door wondering about this supposed assassin. Madai puts on a discreet cloak and hood and walks out the door slowly looking around the dimly lit sunrise docks noticing Ajax's tail disappear into a door to the greater part of the city. Slowly and silently the Nord sneaks in likewise. He pursues Ajax at a distance into the underbelly of Riften to the grimy Ratways. Passing vagrants and thugs they enter the Ragged Flagon, a grimy tavern.

"Yea these look good AJ." A beautiful Redguard woman quickly takes something wrapped in cloth from the Argonian.

"And the goldsssss?" Ajax whispers in a hiss.

"Yes of course." Nonchalantly sliding a coin purse across the table the Redguard casts her eyes down to her lap investigating whatever stolen good may be within.

"I will be leaving Riften soon to brave the Pale Pass to get to Cyrodil. Your partner still wants to make our.... transaction should we survive?" Ajax speaks softly.

"Yes of course. He works for the Arena, they will pay at least 500 gold for one, but if it can do like you say, I would say 1000 gold or more easily." The Redguard woman looks up and gives an opportunistic smile.

"That is not the one I mean." Ajax lowers his head and looks around, his gaze passes a cloaked and hooded stranger passed out drunk seemingly at a table in the corner before panning across a variety of thieves, criminals, drunks, and low class denizens enjoying the local brews of the Ragged Flagon.

"That shall be more difficult, but the Brotherhood has taken up residence again in the old hideout in Cheydinhal. If you can bring him alive...…" The Redguard woman lowers herself to a whisper. "10,000 septims. Dead, 5,000."

"I ssssseeeee. Well, may the Night Mother be with you." Ajax whispers out almost imperceptibly before rising from his chair and exiting the tavern.

After some moments the sleeping drunk in the corner sits up and takes a swig of his mead and exits the Ragged Flagon and the Ratway as well. Swiftly racing his way back to the safehouse he enters and looks around noticing that the Argonian has not returned yet. Trollz lays in the middle of the living room in front of a fire with the saber cat. Madai looks on at the two beasts for a long moment and bend down and pats the saber cat which purrs in her sleep. He proceeds to his room and lays down just as he hears the door open and Ajax return.

After a few days elapse and the party is fresh and rested and organized and well supplied they smuggle themselves out of Riften at night and begin trekking north past the outskirts of the city. Madai in his werewolf form speeds off into the night being the fastest. Thinking to himself he skulks doubling around and decides to slow down and hide. Smelling the invisible Argonian he tracks the assassin suspiciously from night to night by his scent, studying his movement and behavior. Trollz and Sandy bound blissfully back in the wilds after being cooped up in the city of Riften around people for over a month, but well fed and fattened up again they happily follow the trail of the Mer and the Man. Renewed, the adventurers make their way back towards the mountains and the Pale Pass to Cyrodil.

The Empire of Tamriel: Pale Pass 12th Last Seed, 4E 203

Narrow rocky walls greet the adventurers as they enter single file into the Pale Pass. Chill mountain winds die away as they open a weathered door and shut it behind them. Inside the initial cavern system is well lit with seemingly perpetual magical torches blazing. Madai walks over to a wall and takes one of the torches for himself. The Nord uses the torch to start a small fire in the first room and the group settles down for a quick meal before proceeding further.

"It will take us a few dayssssss to passss through the mountains over to Cyrodil assuming everything goesss ssssmoothely." Ajax the Argonian hissingly states after finishing his portion of the stew.

"And if it does not?" Madai barks back looking at the Argonian full of suspicion.

"Then thisss might as well be our gravessss." Ajax puts on a little smirk. "There is something I wanted to do while we are here...… A little arrangement I made in Riften."

"And what is that?" Madai sneers and narrows his eyes.

"There is a side chamber that opened up near this side of the Pale Pass called the Frostfire Glade. It holds a valuable treasure called Garridan's Tears. Long a go a mage, Garridan, fought off the daedra attempting to invade Cyrodil and he cast a powerful frost spell, sacrificing himself, to prevent their march. It is said that he is still alive and his frozen tears gather around the Glade every few hundred years. The Champion of Cyrodil is the last person reputed to have entered the Glade. I would like to acquire some of these Tears." Ajax recounts the story of Garridan.

"And what is the catch?" Madai looks hard at the Argonian.

"Well the frost spell is so powerful and the Glade is so cold that we will freeze to death in a matter of minutes..... but with Trollz being a frost troll now perhaps he can withstand the cold of the enchantment." Ajax motions over at Trollz whom is absentmindedly draining down the last contents of the pot and licking the inside.

After eating their meal the small party packs up their equipment and continues further into the mountain. Narrow passageways meet them lined with traps, but the Argonian seems to know the way and going ahead of the party he disarms many of the traps and returns to point out where other traps are to be avoided. After hours of evading and disabling traps the adventurers enter a large coffin filled room. In the midst of the room is a table set with what seems to be a feast. Trollz ambles up to the table and puts forth his hand to take a hock of ham for himself when suddenly there is a loud creak as his heavy foot steps upon a pressure plate.

At once the sound of stones breaking echoes off the cavernous chamber. From out of the breaking coffins emerges the cold dark flesh and the glowing eyes of many draugr, the undead Nords of Skyrim. Animated undead jaws click and guttural cries fill the room as the undead retrieve ancient Nordic sword. Madai wastes no time pulling his axe out and engaging the draugr. Sandy the sabre cat leaps forward mauling a draugr just before it could cleave into Trollz. Rounding about Trollz barrels into the masses of undead swinging his arms and bashing the foes. Together with Madai the two hearty melee fighters make short work of the weak undead. Ajax appears out of the shadows and with a critical strike decapitates the last of the draugr with his ebony mace. After admonishing Trollz to be careful the party continues further.

In the next few rooms are a similar layout of coffins. Sneaking past these without tripping the traps to unleash the draugr within, the party proceeds. Reaching a new corridor that splits off into three directions the party pauses for a moment while deciding which route to pursue. Ajax details that the middle path will keep them proceeding through the Pale Pass. Another path will take them to the Frostfire Glade where Garridan's Tears reside. Finally the last path, seemingly newly carved out and with a foul smell coming up from it, would lead them into the Blackreach. Recounting his desire to acquire some of Garridan's Tears, Ajax convinces the party to go down this path.

------------------------------------------

Hours into the long linear path to Frostfire Glade the adventurers begin to notice a strange chilled air blowing through the caverns. They know by this that they are fast approaching the chamber which holds Garridan and his tears. Clearing through a small vestibule they find themselves in a strange clearing outside. Snow and ice are all around and a few pine trees, perfectly frozen are there too. In the glade below them a frozen mound of ice containing a mage stands stark and silent. Trollz approaches the magical ice and steps foot on it. At once he yelps and pulls back. Even though he is a frost troll the magical cold still affects him.

At the sound of Trollz' yelp suddenly a magical frostbolt collides with Madai. Looking up two frost atronachs lumber forward at the group. Ajax fires off a crossbow bolt which bounces ineffectually off one of the atronachs before he throws the crossbow over his shoulder and retrieves his mace. Ajax and Madai urge Trollz to quickly gather some of Garridan's Tears while they deal with the frost atronachs. Man and Mer side by side dash into the frost atronachs and start hacking away at them.

Trollz steps on to the ice once more, shuddering at the biting cold under his feet. He bounds forward and noticing a small gleaming blue jewel picks it up. He runs around frantically as his health slowly fades. Retrieving another crystalline tear he approaches the frozen body of Garridan where it is most cold. Pausing for a moment Trollz looks into the face of the fallen mage. Almost as if the mage could perceive him a blue tear that had been welling up in his eyes for centuries rolls out of the ice and into Trollz' hands. Making a small polite nod of acknowledgement to Garridan, and a whimper from the stinging pain of the cold, Trollz turns around and runs off of the ice.

Shivering wildly, Trollz returns to the group just as Ajax and Madai finish off the last of the frost atronachs. His shaking hand opens to reveal three of Garridan's Tears. Ajax quickly takes the cold jewels out of Trollz hands and stashes them away. Thinking he would help Trollz warm up Ajax casts a minor fireball at the ground. However the unexpected sight of fire startles a frozen and damaged Trollz so badly that he jumps up and bounds clear through the door at the other end of the glade, smashing the rotten wood to pieces.

Running willy nilly through the caverns Trollz panics. Sandy, Madai, and Ajax follow after him, pausing to avoid the flying darts and falling stones of several traps that Trollz accidentally sets off as he goes. A few draugr rise from their tombs, but are put back to rest by the axe of Madai and the mace of Ajax. Finally they catch up to Trollz who is knelt over panting from exhaustion on a wooden floor at the end of yet another tunnel. Ajax pats Trollz casting Calm on him. Just as Madai and Sandy step forward there is a sudden groaning creak. With a great snap the wooden floor gives away and the adventurers fall down through into the darkness beneath them.

The Empire of Tamriel: Blackreach 15th Last Seed, 4E 203

Thick darkness shrouds Madai's eyes as they flutter open. The old Nord blinks a few times, but still nothing but blackness. As his senses return to him he can feel his body moving, conveyed by unseen hands.

"Am...Am I dead?" Madai groans groggily.

"Shhhhhhhh. You are alive, but there is much dangers in the darknesssss." Ajax whispers back near Madai's head.

"Where are we? Where is Trollz and the sabre cat?" Madai speaks softly.

"We have fallen into the Blackreach. Trollz is holding your legs. The sabre cat is here too. Can you walk?" Ajax replies and Madai feels himself being let down.

"Yes I can walk. How long have I been unconscious?" Madai stumbles to his feet on the soft unseen ground.

"It is hard to say, perhaps days. It seems we are so far underground that the moons' effect on transforming you into your werewolf form to regenerate does not work down here." Ajax whispers back.

----------------------------------------------------------

The party moves silently through the gloom guided by Ajax using the Night Eye ability and Sandy the sabre cat whom inherently has this ability due to her feline nature. Occasionally the sabre cat gives out a little whimper from pain as her foreleg has been badly sprang in the fall. In the distance flecks of pale blue light can be seen. Musty and misty air can be perceived though not seen. Still silence is occasionally broken by the sounds of creatures moving around or the grim speech of the Falmer, the nearly bestial inhabitants of the Blackreach.

Ajax signals by touch when the party is to remain still if the Falmer or their large insect Chaurus pets draw too near. Stealthily they make their way through the Blackreach until they see in the distance a little ledge with some faint blue lights and what appears to be huts. Before they draw too near the huts they can see some of the pale bodies of the Falmer creep about the site. Ajax formulates a plan to take this encampment so that they may use it as a base.

Twang of the crossbow is heard followed by the screech of a Falmer as it is seriously wounded by a bolt. Several Falmer voices are heard in reply as these twisted once elfkin creatures scramble to their bleeding and dying comrade. Out of the gloom another crossbow bolt hits a Falmer in the eye, dropping the beast. The other Falmer ready their crude weapons and shields. Another Falmer opens a pen releasing the dark bodied Chaurus creatures to investigate. The strange insects click their mandibles and rapidly run towards the sound of the third crossbow shot as another bolt fells another Falmer.

As the two Chaurus approach suddenly a pale green light is ignited as Ajax casts the most basic of illusion spells. From the distance the Falmer cry out as their assailant is illuminated. Just as the giant bugs seem to reach the Argonian, Madai and Trollz leap forward and engage the beasts. Madai's axe barely effects the Chaurus nearest him, the tough chitin exoskeleton of the Chaurus takes the abuse. The Chaurus leaps upon Madai biting him badly. Trollz punches out at his Chaurus, but his blows have no effect upon the well armored creature. Launching at Trollz, the Charus tries to bite down upon him, when just in time, the frost troll grabs both its mandibles in each hand. Stretching them apart a sickening crack is heard as Trollz breaks its jaws. The insect lets out a terrible screech and spews poison into Trollz face, temporarily blinding him. Trollz hurls the defanged Chaurus away from him and the dying creature scuttles away into the darkness. Ajax's ebony mace crushes the head of the other Chaurus just before it can fatally bite down upon Madai.

Their minor victory is short-lived as a heavy arrow whines through the air and meets Ajax's shoulder. Madai scrambles to his feet and charges at the Falmer, his axe cleaving the head off of one. Leaping out of the darkness, Sandy the sabre cat falls upon the other Falmer archer, her massive sabre teeth puncture its neck. Crossbow bolts fly through the air dropping another. The last Falmer in the small camp gives out a harsh cry and runs off.

Wounded, but still alive, the party enters the small camp. The faint blue light they had seen appear to be clutches of the Chaurus eggs which the Falmer seem to cultivate. While the others rest inside the crude huts, Ajax stands guard and searches the encampment. He finds a book and some potions in a chitin chest. Taking one of the potions that cures poison he dumps it into Trollz' eyes, restoring his sight. After eating a meal the party coalesces.

"We should be moving soon, I suspect the Falmer that got away will be returning with more." Ajax states.

"How do we get out of here? The Blackreach is vast and encompasses nearly all of Skyrim. We could end up anywhere." Madai sighs as he applies one of the minor healing potions to his wounds, staunching their bleeding, but not restoring his health much.

"We are in luck it seems either the Daedra or the Divines have granted us a boonssss." Ajax smiles and hands the book to Madai.

Opening the weathered pages of what appears to be a journal written by an alchemist named Sinderion, a crude hand drawn map of part of the Blackreach and the passage the ancient writer took into it from Cyrodil unfolds.

The Empire of Tamriel: Drums In The Deep 20th Last Seed, 4E 203

Arrows ping off a metal door as Ajax closes it behind him and holds it shut. Madai and Trollz carry over some heavy barrels and stack them against the door. On the other side the harsh speech of Falmer is heard followed by the door opening slightly and hitting the barrels. The crew tries to brace the door but they can feel on the other side a mass of Falmer pushing back against them.

"It's no use there are too many of them. We have to keep moving!" Madai bellows out.

"Just a little longer." Ajax hisses out as he pours out several potion on the barrels and around the door. "Okay, run!"

The party turns and runs to the other side of the dimly lit room. The door they had just been barricading bursts open and a mass of Falmer run in. Ajax pauses at the entrance into the next chamber and takes aim with his crossbow. Magically igniting his bolt with fire he presses the trigger and strikes the barrels which go up in flames and terrible screams from the Falmer. Turning around the Argonian passes into the next room where Trollz, Madai, and Sandy are all ready making their way to the other side. Metal cogs creak and strange ancient Dwemer machinery glows around them. A stream of Falmer enter this room just as they exit it.

A large open room greets them to their dismay and they run as fast as they can through it. Arrows flying past their heads announces the arrival of their Falmer pursuers. Ajax launches a few crossbow bolts back at their pursuers. Stopping at a four way intersection they turn about and engage some melee fighters that dash up on them. The Falmer just keep coming in wave after wave. Trollz is struck in the chest with an arrow and lets out a trollshriek before snapping the shaft of the arrow off. Madai and Sandy the sabre cat together are hacking off the pale limbs of the Falmer left and right. Ajax wields his ebony mace and crushes it down upon a Chaurus.

Suddenly the Falmer cease fighting and backs up a little bit. Madai roars out a challenge at them as his axe bites into the foe immediately before him. As the din settles a bit the sound of drums in the deep begin. Growing louder the cadence picks up and the Falmer all screech back seemingly triumphantly at the party. Ajax looks around and lets out a cry pointing to the halls on their flanks. Two massive Dwemer centurions and an army of Dwemer spheres and spiders are lumbering towards them. The heavy metal footfall of the centurions mistaken for drums.

Turning around and running through a mass of scuttling metal spiders the party ascends some stairs. Ajax turn around to unleash some crossbow bolts in the narrow doorway at the Falmer. With a great crash a Dwemer centurion bursts through the stones of the doorway. Madai leaps down the stairwell and takes some slashes at the heavy metal of the centurion, but one punch of the metal arm sends him reeling back against the stairs. Ajax picks Madai up quickly and they dash up the stairs.

A narrow bridge high over the large room with four intersections greets them. Trollz clumsily crosses the narrow bridge with Sandy leading him on. Arrows from the Falmer below whiz past them. Ajax follows and he turns around loading the last of his crossbow bolts and firing them at the enemies on the other side of the bridge. Madai stands in the middle of the bridge his axe ready. The drumming steps of the centurions echo off the walls and the metal titan stomps forward.

Madai lets out a fierce cry and runs across the bridge to meet his foe. Dodging its punch his axe dents into its metal legs at the knees. A stiff kick to his face breaks his nose. Blood running down his face the old Nord does not give up and he climbs up the massive colossus and begins hacking at its head. His arm brushes up against the steaming core of the centurion and is burnt. Madai sees his opportunity and brings his axe downward hitting the dynamo core as hard as he can. The Dwemer centurion goes rigid as its core is cracked and a bunch of oil gushes out of its sides. With a thunderous crash the centurion falls face forward. The metal creature is so heavy the old weathered stone bridge breaks underneath its weight. Madai just in the nick of time grabs to the ledge and hangs on as his shield and his axe fall to the room below.

Trollz lets out a yelp and runs forward to the edge of the broken bridge. Just as Madai's strength leaves him and he slips, the white furred arm of Trollz grabs him. A harsh call of glee is heard and a Falmer on the other side of the gap readies his arrow and pulls back the string aiming dead at Trollz. Just then Trollz feel a force on his back and looks up to see a blur of tan fur launch across the gap. Sandy the sabre cat with her claws outstretched pounces upon the Falmer archer and begins mauling it to death. With a great heave Trollz pulls Madai up from the brink and on to the bridge.

"Come on!" Ajax hisses in their ears.

"No! Sandy!" Madai barks back as they watch the sabre cat fighting the Falmer and the Dwemer machines on the other side.

"It is just a beast, we must go." Ajax says again darkly.

"Shut up lizardman, that beast has more of a heart than you!" Madai yells back.

The sabre cat swipes a Dwemer spider to the side and turns around meeting the eyes of Madai and then Trollz. With a little meow, as if to say goodbye, Sandy charges into the army of enemies claws and teeth flashing as she lashes out at her foes. Falmer and Dwemer machines crowd around the sabre cat and pile upon her. A last roar of the sabre cat echoes throughout the room before a pained yelp and then silence.

"Sandy, no!" Madai yells and some arrows whiz past his head.

Ajax has all ready gone on. Trollz with great trolltears streaming down his face grabs Madai and drags him back across the bridge. A last glimpse of the tan body of Sandy the noble sabre cat lying on the floor succumbed to many wounds makes Madai scream out in rage. With undecipherable taunts the Falmer launch a few more arrows their way, one strikes Trollz in the back, but he just keeps dragging Madai away. Madai beats upon Trollz' chest trying to pull away, but as they exit the room he gives up and lets his head hang and the tears flow down. The trio silently make their way through the rest of the ruins until they reach the open crisp morning air of the mountains of Cyrodil.

The united kingdom of high rock

I have taken the time to write a factbook for the lore of my alternate universe united High Rock. Here's a link if you guys are interested. I incorporated as much detail as I could (within reason) to integrate the story into the fabric of Elder Scrolls lore and keep it lore-friendly. I also have maps and pictures.

Across all the eras of Nirn, High Rock has had a fractious and turbulent political climate. Only in time of great need have the politically divided, yet culturally homogeneous, Bretons united. During the Oblivion Crisis at the close of the 3rd Era, the kingdoms of High Rock were faced, as all of Tamriel was, with the grave threat of Daedric invasion. As Imperial Legions retreated back to Cyrodiil to secure the heartland, the many Breton kingdoms were forced to face the Crisis on their own. Given the Breton culture's affinity for questing, adventure, and the race's natural affinity with magic, it comes as no surprise that the Breton people were more than up to the task at hand of repelling the invasion. Magic flows through almost every Breton, even the most mundane, in some way. This meant that when the Oblivion gates opened, the Daedric swarms met capable armies of kingdom levies as well as swathes of Breton adventurers, knights errant, and mercenaries. Additionally, Breton mages often specialize in conjuration and binding Daedra to their will and, as such, were able to turn entire daedric cohorts against the onslaught from Merhunes Dagon's realm. With the best human mages in Nirn and the military might of the kingdoms of High Rock, the Bretons pushed back the initial Daedric swarms. This success, however, was short-lived.

As the first gates closed and the 5 major kingdoms of Wayrest, Camlorn, Daggerfall, Northpoint, and Evermor rejoiced, more gates began to open across the wilds of High Rock. The second wave of Daedra overpowered the Bretons. In the west, Camlorn fell and Daggerfall pushed north to secure what land it could. In Wayrest, the King of House Cumberland was slain in battle, leaving no sitting monarch. Evermor, too, lost its king, and left a young princess to be queen in his stead. Northpoint remained strong at first but lacked the infrastructure and agriculture to support its army. Amid the chaos, a Breton adventurer of an impoverished noble family rose to lead in Wayrest. In the power vacuum, he saw a path to a unified Breton defense. He rallied the nobles and saved the city of Wayrest from being captured by the Daedra. His martial success in defense of the city and political acumen resulted in him being crowned King of Wayrest.

A map of High Rock upon the ascension of the King of Wayrest. Note the autonomous region was mainly under the rule of the wild Witchmen of High Rock and the northern cities and villages above it were forced to rely on Nord protection during the crisis.

After his royal ascension, he quickly moved to marry the Queen of Evermor and united the two kingdoms under his authority. After this, he met with the kings of Daggerfall and Northpoint on the Isle of Balfiera, a holding of Wayrest at the time. There, at the Adamantine Tower, they agreed to form an unbreakable United Kingdom of High Rock. The kings of Daggerfall and Northpoint would swear fealty in exchange for the protection of the superior forces of the combined Wayrest & Evermor. The noble adventurer was thus named High King of High Rock and, with all the Bretons united, he was able to coordinate a proper defense and counter attack on Camlorn to close the gates across High Rock and save the entire Breton kingdom. This union of three kingdoms is reflected in the kingdom's standard, which has a 3 pointed knot showing three becoming unified as one.

The Royal Standard of the United Kingdom of High Rock

The adventurer ruled as High King Cymric the Able of House Hywel, and his descendant, High King Layne of House Hywel still rules as High King of the United Kingdom of High Rock to this day. The capital city of the kingdom is Wayrest, but the royal court is on the Isle of Balfiera in the Adamantine Tower.

The AdamantineTower, the oldest structure in Tamriel, and seat of the Breton High King

Concerning the Witchmen of eastern High Rock, they were subjugated for the most part after the Oblivion Crisis and the border with Skyrim was fortified. The cities and towns in the region which relied on Nord protection were incorporated into the realm. Orsinium was also sacked, with particular fervor due to the Orcs worship of a Daedra fueling the already present anti-Orc sentiment. Orcs who lived there were either killed or expelled from the Kingdom into neighboring provinces.

That's what I'm trying, we should have elections for the Elder Council

Yes, good idea! That would keep inactive nations from hogging spots which active players could take. It would definitely help keep this region alive and fun!

This has worked well in regions I have been in in the past (on my previous nations). Keeps people engaged, even low ranking nations as they want to seek promotion if the existing council members leave or CTE.

The Empire of Tamriel: Bruma 23rd Last Seed, 4E 203

Situated to the far north of Cyrodil is the city of Bruma. Much of the Nordic expat community in Cyrodil lives in this city due to its border with Skyrim. Well fortified in the mountains, and being relatively untouched from the wars and political turmoils of the last few years the city of Bruma is a peaceful and growing town. After a few days of trekking out of the heights of the Jerall Mountains the trio of adventurers enter Bruma to resupply themselves. Just outside the city Madai sets up a small cairn of stones in memorial of Sandy the sabre cat.

Immediately inside the gate of the city is an old inn named Olav's Tap and Tack. After tethering Trollz to a post outside Ajax and Madai proceed inside. The inn is bustling with people as they take their drinks and carouse on the first floor of the inn. Ajax hands Madai some coins to buy some food and drink and then announces he has some business to attend to in selling the Garridan's Tears which they acquired in the Pale Pass. Ajax walks up the stairs to the next floor. Madai buys a horn of mead and sits down in a corner drinking his mead in silence and looking around at the various townspeople talking about the most popular rumors of the day.

"Did you hear that there are talks of a new Elder Council being formed?" A Nordic woman says to a Nibenese woman.

"I heard it, but I wonder what it will really accomplish with so many kingdoms having fallen apart." The Nibenese woman responds. "Though after the The nibenean empire collapsed shortly after the Akaviri assault on Leyawin Blankenmarsh has taken up the vicinity of Bravil and kept it stable."

"Aye pretty miss, and after the fall of Ardoland a new faction calling itself The united kingdom of high rock has formed." A Breton man interjects and sits down with the two ladies and proceeds to flirt with them. "Have you fine ladies ever considered going on a romantic getaway with a handsome Breton to Nadd?"

"Where is Nadd anyways?" The Nibenese woman blushes and responds demurely.

-------------------------------------------------

Madai gulps down his mead and looks suspiciously at the stairs wondering what is taking Ajax so long. Throwing his hood over him, he silently sneaks up the stairs. Proceeding through the more quiet hallways flanked by doors to rooms Madai hears Ajax's voice inside one. Silently Madai presses his ear to the door listening in.

"Oh Morrowind is a mess ever since we Argonians pulled out of it. All their Dunmer factions have collapsed and after their policy of relocating the Ashlanders to reservations the whole province has become a lawless free for all. It is said that even the dreughs are roaming Morrowind freely. We might well end up calling it Dreughia in the future." A hissing laugh follows.

"And what of home?" Ajax's voice replies.

"Ah it seems that the royalist faction that tried to reinstate King Eros has fallen apart again, but it is of little consequence. Argonia and black marsh has emerged as the dominant political force and has recently sent envoys to the Imperial City to lobby the The Emperor of Tamriel to form an Elder Council. It seems a good time to be an Argonian! Do you have the Tears of Garridan?" The unseen stranger, apparently a fellow Argonian, responds.

"Yessss, here they are. Do you have the gold?" Ajax's voice falls to a hush and the tinkling of some gold coins falling on a table are heard. "Good time to be an Argonian indeed."

"And the Brotherhood will be waiting outside of Cheydinhal to deal with your.....fugitive's problem." The Argonian inside states cryptically.

"Let it be known to the Brotherhood that he is alive and that I would to keep it that way. He thinks we are coming to Cheydinhal to annul the contract put out on him, but...." Ajax's continues on before suddenly being interrupted.

"OI WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" The shout of the Nordic innkeeper roars through the upstairs at Madai. "Eavesdropping are we? My customers pay a good price for their privacy. Get you back downstairs!"

The innkeeper grabs Madai roughly and pulls him upright. Madai pushes the innkeeper down flat on his behind and stepping over him, proceeds down the stairs and out of the tavern. His head streaming with suspicion, he walks past Trollz without even giving him a glance, and proceeds to the nearest weapon shop to buy a new axe. When he returns he finds Ajax outside untethering Trollz. Madai acts as if he has been in town this whole time under the suspicious stare of Ajax. Agreeing that they have all the supplies they need, the trio leaves Bruma.

"So where do we go now?" Madai asks as they stroll out of the gates of Bruma.

"We go to Cheydinhal. There we shall meet with the Dark Brotherhood to get them to cancel the hit on you. It will cost a bit of gold..... but what I gained from selling Garridan's Tears should cover a down payment." Ajax replies without looking at the Nord.

The united kingdom of high rock

May I suggest the creation of an "Imperial Librarian" or "Loremaster" for the council. Someone who posts about lore, RP updates, or keeps records of things. Could post regional dispatches and do polls too. Would also be cool if we each did RP posts like news updates, character posts, etc. from each of our own kingdoms/ provinces.

Could add to the great posts Trollz does

(We used to have a Minister of Culture. In my opinion, as I related to Dreughia in a telegram he sent me today, we don't so much need a government as much as we need ya'll to start just being more active in the RP/creative writing. Otherwise I mean we can just elect people and give them fancy titles all day long, but it really won't mean anything if all people do is post a sentence or two, usually totally unrelated to TES, and then they just CTE a month later.

I rarely make OOC posts, instead trying to incorporate events happening in the Region into my on-going story of Trollz. The last post is a good example of this as I use random NPC characters at an inn in Bruma to discuss the rise of some of the new nations, the CTE of some other nations, and the proposals of a new Elder Council. At the same time Trollz is set up in a way in which I can continue his story solo regardless of what other nations do as each Trollz Saga has an over-arching plot with a definitive start and end.

The entirety of the story of Trollz, literally every post I ever made, can be found in my Dispatches, here;

page=dispatches/nation=trollz

The current Trollz Saga will always be hosted in my Factbook, currently I am in the Third Trollz Saga, though this comes to an end actually quite soon.
