Pretty much the above. NS turned 15 this week. I'm 30, so I've been on this game half my life - it's mostly just out of habit and nostalgia that I log in periodically.
Star City was the USSR’s cosmonaut facility. Well, I never knew that - was just reading about Yuri Gagarin.
Speaking of influence, we are the second most influential region in the entire frigging game!
I think we can indulge in some complacent back-slapping for that one. Cool as.
Wow, I didn't even know regions had rankings. Shows you how much attention I pay when I log in every 40 days :D
I looked it up.
I was just perusing my rankings and while the Most Stationary ranking obviously has to have a starting point, I didn't realise just how far back it's been tracking. 5,055 days without leaving the region - 13.8 years, which is around February 2004 :o
Well done comrade.
Thank you for recognising all that effort I went through to not move :P
It also means you haven’t CTE’d, which *is* something. Not sure how you’ve managed to do that...
Automatic e-mail warning of impending doom. On my puppets I've also had vacation mode enabled for years, so I don't need to check in on them as often
I’d agree but for the fact that the auto-emails didn’t exist ten years ago, so take the compliment! :-) (Although ten years ago there were reasons to log into NS daily). Minyos has been in Vacation Mode for years now. I resurrect my PNs as needed but...yeah, rare need.
Heh, more than that. Activity in TPC and our peers collapsed in 2006. Right around the time the other game took off.
CN?
Indeed.
We did OK in the ICU after 2006 - think we topped out at 220 nations in 2008 & TPC had 50 UN/WA nations all endorsing comrade Blackbird & being Left defenders.
2009 things started going on the slide just generally in NS but I do know the “glory years” were in the first 4-5. I did catch the tail end of NS fun having started playing in later 2006.
I tried CN, it was stupid. Some people I knew played both.
What the hell has happened to Tahar Joblis? He CTE’d 14 days ago.
Anyone heard from Tahar?
I wish there was an option to get an e-mail when you unexpectedly become delegate. Thought I had an e-mail address for TJ somewhere, but it seems not.
Minyos, for those of us who were playing NS from the very early days the game had become pretty stale by January 2006. Hence the mass jump to CN (although only after Particracy had failed to gain much traction in November 2005). Of course, the same forces that led people to leave NS behind eventually happened to CN too. Most of the fun was figuring out the game in the first few months. After that it got very by-the-numbers. I go into it in my CN memoirs/recollections. Self-promotion: https://withinearshot.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/%23CN%20Memoirs
Eek! Yes, I CTE'd.
Apparently I didn't have the "warn me of impending apocalypses" box checked in settings. >_> Star, I'll PM you an e-mail address (and anyone else who wants it).
There's a lot that's happened in my life lately. The short of it is that a few months ago, my boss screwed me out of a lot of pay. The union hasn't been much help - not sure if that's because my local reps are in bed with my boss or if the union as a whole is just completely incompetent - but I've been swamped.
Sort of surprised that I didn't get an impending apocalypse e-mail, but apparently I never had that box checked in the settings, I just had been still logging in regularly since they put it in. (I did CTE back during the Jolt days, but things were different then and that had to do with logging in through the forums and not the website.)
Good to have you back. It really is easy to lose track of time when it comes to periodically logging in here, which is exactly why I have that option checked.
Welcome back, comrade. I'm sorry to hear about your work. Are you able to talk to your national union at all?
Hm. I hadn't even thought of that. Time to look into that. I don't have a direct channel, but the national organization has a website, and I should be able to figure out someone to send e-mail to.
Welcome back Tahar! You *should* be able to get in touch with the national office by phone. I forget where you are but if your union is affiliated with a union peak body then that’s another avenue if they are baulky.
Oh - and yesterday the 21st of April was the anniversary of the winning of the world’s first 8-hour day. In 1856, stonemasons here in Melbourne downed tools after their employers refused the request for shorter working days and won!
Knock knock?
Who's there?
Could have sworn I logged in just the other day, but it was probably over a week ago.
