Mate your country hasn't even been kicking about for 250 years yet... Modern Britain roots back to the 1066 Conquest or more conservatively the Union of the Crowns in March 1603. Plus anyway you're a republic so your traditions etc are decided by the people, if you want proper tradition get yourself a good old-fashioned monarchy!! Have you ever watched the State Opening of Parliament?? You got the searching of the cellars by the Yeoman of the Guard rooting back to the Gunpowder plot of 1605, the ceremonial imprisonment of the Vice-Chamberlain of the Queen's Household, the Imperial State Crown, the procession of the Earl Marshal and the Lord Great Chamberlain with the Great Sword of State, the doors being slammed in the face of the Gentleman/Lady Usher of the Black Rod, the procession of Black Rod, the Serjeant-at-arms and the Speaker of the House of Commons, the speech from the throne, honestly it goes on and on....

That, my friend, is tradition. And its worth noting we have a pretty powerful socialist Labour Party. I say socialist, they're more social democrat but most Americans cant seem to tell the difference... The Labour Party were in power for much of the 20th century, most recently the stretch from 1997-2010 under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, yet we still seem to have fairly intact culture and certainly traditions. Indeed we're the only nation (to the best of my knowledge) to retain a Court of Chivalry to rule on ceremonial heraldric matters....

Socialism is no threat to tradition. You honestly seem to demonise it, but just like conservatism, mild ideologies are fine and dandy. Naturally extremists are concerning, but so is extreme conservatism. The "left wing" politicians of the US would be seen as moderates in the UK, the US are actually disturbingly far right. OAC for example, could be compared with Lisa Nandy MP or Layla Moran MP, both highly respected left wing politicians. Perhaps Bernie with Caroline Lucas MP. No one is calling them a threat to the country or all the abuse conservatives give the left wing in the US.

Frankly I find it concerning how far right the overton window is in the US, because it seems to mislead the public into believing any form of socialism is a major threat to humanity and your country will instantaneously collapse. None of that is true, and I think you know that.

In the words of Declan McKenna in "Listen to your Friends",

"Look online,
Do ten minutes of research and in turn find,
The problem is poor kids who want holidays in term time,
The problem is poor kids who can't afford the train fare,
So we up the train fare and charge them for not paying the train fare,

The problem is welfare,
And the problem is free healthcare,
'Cause it's unfair and if it's gone it's welfare,
The problem is drugs,
The problem is free love and free hugs,
So stay in fear,
Do some drugs and stay here,

Well I said go on then!
But God bless the weatherman
Who has gone out of business since the psychoactive substance ban
The gateway has sent him back
From bulk-buying NOS to selling crack

The problem arose when a rich man suggested it
Over his lunchtime snack"

Put simply, Declan is trying to say the decisions made by conservatives are poorly thought out, he’s criticising their views on the poor as being ignorant and insensitive as well as too quick to judge. This is him explaining how poverty is running wild in UK and America while the (in the UK Conservative, at the time of writing in the US Republican) government does nothing to help. So instead of tackling the real problems conservative minds turn to blaming poor kids and their families for their poverty, blaming the welfare system and "benefits scroungers", blaming anything but themselves. Businessmen and senior conservatives make quick decisions over dinner in the Ritz, and seemingly don't stop to think about the knock-on effects for everyday people.

For example, when the UK Government (Conservatives) banned NOS (a mainly harmless psychoactive substance, Nitrous Oxide) because they were mainly sick of the disposed canisters left around streets, the amount of people taking harder substances skyrocketed. Simple decisions by the ignorant upper class conservatives, have significant consequences for the everyday.

Folks,
I thought this Junta would change everything. It's changing nothing. United Osean Federation barely turns up and makes effectively no effort as its Chairman, leading the responsibility solely to myself and Leria.
Sadly I have a life, I have an Extended Project to write, A Levels to pass, a boyfriend to keep happy, real world political work to sort out in the run up to the May local elections. Unfortunately NS just cant be my priority for now, and it's becoming an all too easy distraction. For that reason, I am resigning from the Junta with immediate effect and taking a break from NS for the foreseeable future, at least until April.

I wish you all the best.

Dear all,

As announced earlier by me, I would like to take a break from the political sphere after more than 2 continuous years here. It has been great fun to play here and I am definitely going to stay here. However I will not be able to be active in regional politics (especially since I’m having quite a lot of interviews and exams to prepare for sixth form admissions), and hence I would like to withdraw from the Government Junta.

I wish everyone good luck, all the best and be able to keep up the great work!

Cheers,
Chokoku

Although I don't particularly like the system you created, you were one of the few doing something and I thank you for that. Good luck to you in all your endeavors.

I suggest something new be created, as I do not like the fact that someone who is not in the new parliament will have no vote in who leads the region.

Haiti? going to Haiti right now where there are currently protests asking the President to resign, where the Dominican Republic announced they were going to do a Border Wall between them and Haiti (Walls works! Thanks to President Trump others President are doing the same thus proving that President Trump is correct on protecting borders) also going to Haiti with the Wuhan Virus probably out of control in that island?
