Tfw your political freedom drops 5 points just because you don't want a loose confederacy of local governments scattered throughout the nation, effectively splitting the country apart.
Central governments are superior, in that they work significantly better at keeping the nation a nation.

A volley of cannon fire strikes the starboard side of the ship, causing a chain reaction of explosions to go off as a direct hit was made on the ammunition storage of the ship, the vessel begins to be engulfed in flames are sailors begin to abandon ship, the Karl Diets then begins to capsize. Near by the A.N.S. Lunendorf and Von Reusch begin to turn and aim their cannons at the Azuran ship. "FIRE FIRE" Orders the captains of the ships as a deafening volley of cannon fire is let loose on the Azurans. Dozens of cannon balls make direct hits on the Azuran ship causing it to also explode due to a direct hit on the ammo storage. Azuran sailors can be seen yelling in agony as some are caught in the flames. Another volley is fired at the Azuran ship causing one final massive explosion to rip the ship in half. All along the Coast Naval battles between Allouxian and Azuran ships erupts.
I guess I'm just failing to see why exactly not having local governments with autonomy would lower my political freedom, rather than maintain the same level before it was suggested.
I can understand that freedom isn't always a good thing, but to have my progress hindered to where I started for that one issue is somewhat frustrating.
I don't know if the civil liberties that every citizen is granted under a free government being removed should have the same weight as not allowing people to be complete fanatics that endanger everyone around them.
But that's just my opinion.
