Does the book stay in the hotel room, or is there a near endless supply (from a foundation or some such), and people are encouraged to take the book with them?

If the book is supposed to stay in the room, out of consideration for guests who just stay one night or two, I'd opt for a collection of self-contained short texts that can each be read in its entirety in one evening: An essay collection, a short story collection, or poems.
