"Operation: Divine Wrath"

SIC: Meanwhile in Uikastan, the Sovern government has secretly established a tight system of connections in the country - paving a way to assassinate their assassinate their current leader named "Hadas".

The mission was set in full motion the moment information was gathered that Hadas will be presenting a speech to his subjects. Even though security was increased, Sovern was able to bypass their line of defense. It is was planned that once Hadas returns to his residence, he often conceals himself in his personal lounge. The guards at his residence have been taken out and replaced by operatives, tasked to monitor and report his whereabouts. The first phase of the mission was a success. The leader has been isolated to his lounge, and all of the exists were blocked by agents. There is no possible way for him to escape, and even if he attempted to flee, he could be easy captured.

After he settled himself, the operatives' mission went into the second phase. However, as it turns out he recruited additional personal guards, equipped with sub-standard weaponry. An alternative mission was set in motion, by poisoning his cocktail and arranging that one of his guards was responsible for the assassination. With the alternative mission in action, an operative disguised as a waiter gave Hadas the drink, but slightly distracting him by bringing his attention away from his drink to a light conversation. After a few minutes, the operative intentionally bumps into one of the guards, and slides the poison in his pocket. A smooth apology granted him a leeway, and the mission's new path proved to be a success. Within the hour, Hadas died from poisoning. Blame spread like wildfire, bring the guards to fire on each other. Any remaining guards were rushed by a proxy rebellion group that was stationed to act accordingly. Another operative was sent to confirm that the individual killed was indeed Hadas. He was able to escape the situation before the rebels could reach the private lounge. The genetic code was confirmed to be Hadas. This gave Sovern the census belli to dissolve the rebellion and establish a new government for the safeguard of the war front.

The new government was structured in a similar way Sovern's politics works. A Federation was implemented with the backing of a strict Constitution, that emphasized the freedom of its citizens, and its markets. The separation of Church and State was also a critical factor for the new government's function. An additional treaty was agreed on by Uikastan's new leadership and the Sovern government; paving way for Sovern to have more influence in commerce. In return, the Sovern government guaranteed the independence of Uikastan.

President Kirkiv was informed on the success of the liberation effort, and thus gives her a new notch in her belt.

The Southern Compromise

Emperor Thalik Beez IX. has offered the Grand State of Malulota a deal. If Berukio Imperiuk were to cede its southern province to Malulota, they would have to obey the following terms:

  • Establish a non-aggression pact, between Berukio Imperiuk and Malulota.

  • Withdraw forces from the Bay of Vesvin, and recognize it as a non-militarized zone.

  • Pay Berukio Imperiuk 1.2 billion Credits a year.

  • Compensate for all the damage Malulota, and Hunnack Orionus caused during their raid on Berukio Imperiuk during the Honorable War.

  • Cease all future claims on Berukio Imperiuk, and disband any current claims.

"The deal is obviously imbalanced. There are terms that I wish to implement in our deal. I will recognize all pre-existing terms you have already proposed, but on my conditions there are some details I want to include: First, I need to see exactly what you are ceding to me before I can agree. Secondly, I want an open trade deal between our two countries. Finally, once we have both agreed to what land you will cede to me, I need you to submit a picture of the settled territory to the Domestic Affairs Ministry so it can be official, documented, and undisputed. I also need you to also cede some northern territory to Hunnack Orionus, but that can be up to you how much you wish to give. If you can accept these terms then we may continue to the next steps of negotiation."

Berukio Imperiuk hopes that this may be proof to our openness. Would you consider extending the non-aggression pact to something more serious - such as forming an alliance?

"Since you've been very cooperative, I will consider your offer and get back to you about it at a later date."

A Malulotan-Tritran Parade

In celebration of Malulota and Tritra's testament to friendship, a joint-military parade was organized. The parade with feature a fleet from each nation, conducting military exercises from Dragon's Tail Straight, through the Plunder Sea, then they will be taking a curve around the Corsair Sea, and finally reaching Naval Fort Francelous in Solitude Isles. From that point, the same route will be used back to Malulota after spending a week conducting similar exercises in the Crowded Sea. Permission was granted by Solitude isles to park warships in a designated naval fort, and use their coastal waters to conduct exercises. Nations that reside around the Crowded Sea were informed prior to the exercises to insure that these activities are faithful to its contribution to the Lemurian War. It is renown that the Crowded Sea is famous for its deep water and access to a variety of coastal ranges.

Malulota wrote:"I see. I find it very unappealing that you'd resort to blame. I have come to you for business, and that alone. While trust must be earned, there comes a time when a static relationship shows no sign of growth needs a compromise, or a sign I should say that would be used to build up that trust. I feel as though we have two different views on certain values, and I can't really complain. However, I expected you to be more open minded. I have offered opportunity, but you refused to be part of it. I have a lot to offer, but it seems that I have been lead a stray."

"I have come to you with an offer, but I can't leave on my own will knowing I have failed my citizens. I will not leave until some sort of progress can be made, and future progress can be claimed. My people aren't desperate, but I have an agenda for my people that I must follow in order to fulfill my mandate as a Chancellor of the great nation of Malulota."

Holy Barbarian Empire wrote:The Pope lifts his head slightly, and signals the Knights of the Holy Templar to enact protocol. The soldiers encircle the Chancellor with their firearms aimed at his head. The Pope stands up and attends to the situation.

"I am afraid you have no more business being here, Chancellor." the Pope orders.

"I admire your dedication to your people, and the least I can say is that I greatly respect it. I believe that a leader's first priority should be its citizens. You are brave to approach me like so, and demand with all that is in your heart. I actually fancy those sort of traits, and I can tell that you are an excellent leader. Your intentions are pure, but how you handle things may be a bit too aggressive, my friend. I will overlook this transgression, and remain faithful to our non-aggression pact. In the future we can return to this conversation and discuss everything on a more even ground. Right now is not the best time to throw your weight around so cheaply. I suggest to prove yourself through action, instead of claims and rites. God is ever so forgiving and understanding, and so I embody that concept."

The guards lower their weapons and return to the Pope's side. "I will come to you when I believe that you can be trusted, and you can show great promise for both of our lands. You are considered a friend, and I hope we may work together to overcome our challenges, regardless of the situation. Have a blessed day, child of God." the Pope sincerely waves goodbye before ordering the guards to escort the Chancellor safely back to his transit, where he returns back to Malulota in sound condition.

IC: President Williams hears of the meeting between the Holy Barbarian Empire and Malulota. He is annoyed how once again Malulota is continuing to pester Volohk's ally the Holy Barbarian Empire for territory. About a week later he receives a phone call from one of Volohk's allies telling him about some sort of scheme Malulota has concocted to try and get territory out of the Holy Barbarian Empire as well as threaten Sovern.

The details of this scheme being that Malulota wanted to use Culof as a gateway to use Volohk against the Holy Barbarian Empire and Sovern.

The President is outraged that Malulota thinks it can use Volohk for such a stupid and petty thing. The outrage spreads across the nation as news of it is released to the public. President Williams makes a declaration in response:

"To the nation of Malulota.

Hunnack Orionus, Berukio Imperiuk, and Tritra may enjoy having your arm elbow deep in their ass so you can use and puppeteer them and steal their territory but you can't use Volohk. You cant use us!

We are tired of Malulota's pestering. That is why, unless the Holy Barbarian Empire desires to sell Malulota territory, Volohk will engage in military action against Malulota should it continue its pestering the Holy Barbarian Empire for territory.

To my fellow Barbarian nations. I would like to suggest joint military exercises between Culof, the Holy Barbarian Empire, Sovern, & Volohk in the interest of our joint defense from such annoyances.

I would also like to suggest the UNB Domestic Affairs Minister and the Holy Barbarian Empire establish a D.M.Z. along the Malulota-Holy Barbarian Empire border to put an end to these annoyances once and for all as well as to serve as a buffer zone between the two nations.

Lastly I suggest that the Holy Barbarian Empire join BITO to better insure its own defense.

Malulota needs to learn that territory does not make a nation great or powerful. History has shown us that the land hungry nations are usually in fact the weakest and remain that way so long as they let greed corrupt them. Be happy you have what you do and cease these annoyances once and for all. End your obvious scheming and "sneaking" around to get petty revenge against Sovern and the Holy Barbarian Empire. You're not good at it. Your trying to be subtle and make plots and conspiracies is like a bull in a china shop it's so painfully obvious. Besides that it's cowardly and dishonorable. Something I think a nation with your history should want to avoid. Plain and simple just grow up."

And with that President Williams steps down from the podium and the declaration broadcast ends.

In response to Volohk's broadcast, the Chancellor himself delivers his own message on the matter.

"I must say that I am incredibly disappointed in Volohk's leadership. They've stuck their neck out for a matter that have barely any knowledge on. You might have considered your allies' perspectives, but what about mine? You never asked about Malulota's side of the story; instead, you jumped to conclusions and thrown empty threats at us. Malulota has never used its military forces to acquire anything, nor used it as a tool to get what it wants. We don't have any forces stationed along the HBE-Malulota border, so why must there be any now?

In addition, Malulota and HBE have already agreed that we should wait to establish a trust, and then further negotiations could be pressed. You're way to late on the matter, and its case has already been closed. You're throwing your weight around on something that was already settled. But if you wish to insult us, and bring soldiers along our borders and cause tension, be the nation that has caused instability in Lower Barbaria. All Malulota has done is make friends, and now that's a crime?

So, go ahead. Place soldiers on our borders and ruin the peace we've tried to preserve. Never once has there been soldiers along our borders because Malulota trusts the HBE and only wish to be their friendly neighbor. Do it, and bring on fear and instability. Let's ruin the forests that our ancestors shared, and poison it with barricades and weapons. Show our children that freely play in the fields that innocence holds no bounds. Make our hard workers nervous with your readiness to kill. Because that's what civilized nations do right?

How can we try and build trust if we're going to resort to violence and fear?

In regards to this illusion that the rest of Barbaria seems to have made up in their minds, that Malulota has some sort of revenge against Sovern or the HBE. What point would there be to hold a grudge and make enemies. We know we can't compete against powers that are greater than us, so why resist? Malulota has nothing against anybody, unless you want there to be a problem. I am deeply saddened that you've created such a dirty image of us and call us conspirators and what not. Your demands were built on lies and fear, but if you want to ruin our land and relationships by putting up walls, then go ahead; crumble those bridges we're trying so hard to build. That's all I have to say about it. Thank you."

His Holiness responds, "I find it that Malulota has a point. We've already agreed to wait on the matter, and he didn't retaliate on the idea. Through communication we can eventually trust each other, and agree to each other's terms. Using militancy as a way to safeguard our sovereignty won't do much for gaining each other's trust. Instead of distributing resources and soldiers from the major war to a sliver of land is pointless and a waste. I do appreciate that you mean well to protect us, but the idea on militarizing our peaceful border doesn't make me comfortable. I am responsible for protecting my Holy Realm, not other nations. I do not need to be handled with care, because if the time comes when I have to defend myself, I can handle it on my own. Relying on others just shows weakness, and I am not weak. There will be no DMZ of any kind, because the border was already agreed to be de-militarized. I frown on your ignorance, and maybe I should review your place in the Holy Land's affairs. If Volohk continues to instigate anymore tensions between the Holy Barbarian Empire and Malulota, than I am not sure we can continue to have faith in you."

"With Culof's involvement in this escalation, I must say that you should have came to me first on this matter. If Malulota has referenced me of any kind, or mention topics that involve the Holy Land; you should have brought this to me as it is my business, instead of leaving me in the dark. I may have to consider suspending the canal project until my neighbors can prove to me that they can communicate and resort to more peaceful measures. It wouldn't hurt my realm economically if the canal project were to mysterious cease to exist. If anything, it will save me the hassle on having to deal with belligerents. Much for conspiracies and paranoia. I must say you've all pissed me off!"

"In the meantime, I suggest you all learn from this matter and leave me the hell alone. I will ponder if I should continue the canal project, or even presume my business with foreigners. Good day to you all!"

President Ion makes his point on the Floor. "Tritra will not tolerate insolence or insults. By threatening a fellow ally and branding Tritra's great name with such a disgusting example, we will no longer continue trade with Volohk. Consider all exchanges and agreements cancelled."

Felix Muiv, Domestic Affairs Minister of the UNB, will not establish a DMZ if the Holy Barbarian Empire is not comfortable with it, if they believe they can defend themselves without the assistance of the UTF, then there is no point in pushing the objective. In addition, its claimed that the border is already de-militarized, so there is no point in getting involved. However, I will monitor the activity in the area, and take responsibility for the security of Lower Barbaria. I suggest that instead of pointing fingers at each other, we should redirect that energy into working together. It is pointless to divide ourselves.

IC: After think for some time on what President Williams said the Kaiser makes his remarks.

"First off it feels that many of the responses are in such a way that they make it seem like Volohk is demanding these changes be done. When in fact they are suggestions. Suggestions I think may do good if implemented. But just as Volohk knows, hence why they are suggestions, it is all up to the Holy Barbarian Empire if such things occur.

I also cant blame Volohk for its reaction. Both I and President Kirkiv of Sovern saw the missive that described this plot and if it is true which it looks like it may be then I say bad form on Malulota. I also cant blame Volohk as nobody likes to be used. And if such a plot of usage of nations is true then it would certainly seem like the nations giving up all their blood and treasure to Malulota were being nothing but puppets in such a situation.

At the end of it all Volohk got evidence of a disturbing plot that would have used his nation as a weapon to bring harm to his allies. He acted quickly after all who knows if time was of the essence or not. Some might say that Volohk has some investment in the Holy Barbarian Empire anyway. As he did grant the Holy Barbarian Empire the right to share in some vacant territory between them.

But once again it is up to the Holy Barbarian Empire to make the choice. Whatever choice the make I and I'm sure Volohk as well will support it."

"Exactly. Was not demanding anything. All up to Holy Barbarian Empire.

I merely found out another nation was trying to use Volohk and its allies against each other. I do not tolerate that. Volohk never has. Some may not trust the source of this information but I trust my allies at their word so I believe it. I feel information about this plot regardless of how reliable it is needs to be made public so that nations may be able to make their own conclusions.

Some nations may not like the words used to describe them and to that I simply say toughen up buttercup. Barbaria has never been a place for snowflakes. If a nation gets that outraged over some creative use of language then there must be some truth in those words that is subconciously known in the mentioned nation.

Volohk calls em like we see em. We did the same thing when every nation was chugging the Sovern Syndicalist Punch and we're doing it again now. Our brutal honesty hasnt been proven wrong yet and Volohk stands by its word.

Volohk's declaration to use force should Malulota or any nation continue pestering our ally of the Holy Barbarian Empire still stands as is accorded under our alliance. That is all."

Chancellor Astrian Oliserian complies with the terms of the treaty, and is willing to submit the telegram you've mentioned on the RMB by my choice alone:

To whom this may concern,

I, Chancellor Astrian Oliserian of Malulota, wish to propose a trade agreement with Culof. We are willing to export to you titanium, tungsten, crude oil, silver, strontium, and automobile to Culof, and in exchange we will accept the following imports: weaved baskets and textiles.

In addition, we would like to formulate a non-aggression pact with you. The Holy Barbarian Empire has withdrawn all efforts in maintaining a relationship with Malulota, and I believe that he withdrawal to communication is going to tip the scales of balance in Lower Babaria, would you consider working with me and probably involve Volohk in some sort of agreement that would create a multi-national non-aggression pact?

Volohk and Malulota do not have a lot in common, and I think that if we establish some sort of friendship, Culof could act as a third party to a treaty I can assemble with Volohk. I think that if Malulota and Volohk form some sort of peaceful arrangement, there won't be so much tension in the region. I have no desire to go to war with anyone and I only want peace. I know that at some point we'd share Sovern as a common adversary, so I can understand he doesn't want a lot of nations making ripples in the Crowded Sea, and I want the same for the Sea of Vez, which I consider a very important front for trade. If you have an idea on how we can formulate this sort of deal please let me know and I will arrange a summit with Culof and Volohk in the near future so we can discuss our affairs.

Sincerely,

Chancellor of Malulota,

Chancellor of Malulota,

Since Culof's telegram perfectly matches that of Malulota's, I can easily say that this telegram is verified under the Domestic Affairs Ministry. How anyone else interprets is up to them, but from my perspective it would seem that there was some sort of misunderstanding, and the confusion caused a bit of trouble for everyone. I suggest that instead of indirectly relying on someone to settle international disputes, a more direct and honest approach should be handled. If Malulota wanted to create a multi-national non-aggression pact, then instead of going to Culof first, you should have went straight to Volohk on the matter, since it involves him. Volohk isn't some scary bear that'll tear your limbs off if you approach him, and if you wanted a third party, that is what I am here for. No one did anything wrong, but as the Domestic Affairs Minister, I should suggest that you should adhere to my advise the next time you want to work something out with someone.

With the telegram verified, we can continue the diplomatic process and begin the second phase of the negotiation. I will send Malulota a telegram featuring the land His Holiness wishes to grant him in exchange for the remaining terms. Once its confirmed, the picture will be added to the treaty and we can finally sign it.

Along the Malulotan-Norman, Chancellor Astrian signs the document, and shakes hands with His Holiness. Afterwards, he holds a press conference with the presence of the Pope.

"Today will be written in history as a landmark event for Malulotan unification. Finally, after all these years, we are together under one dominion, and one flag. Our flag. We can end the suffering, and the tension, by coming together as a nation, and as a community. We can rest the weary, and preserve the peace in Lower Barbaria. I understand that it has been hard for everyone, but with what we have accomplished, there won't be no more suffering. Thank you."

Commander Haxom Annar sits in his quarters aboard the spacecraft carrier H.S.S. Kronos CV-3 which is the lead ship of the Hyperborean star fleet that is escorting the Barbarian asteroid redirect spacecraft. He has been made aware of the Lemurian effort and that the Lemurians know of the Barbarian efforts. He has also been made aware that the Lemurians are sending reinforcements and that Hyperborean reinforcements are making their way to aid him and his forces.

He was alerted of the failed effort by Sovern to try and slow down the Lemurians. Commander Haxom Annar is known as a rising star in the Hyperborean Space Force having aced all simulations during his days at the National War College and having led several successful engagements against space pirates. He has turned down several promotions so he can remain Commander of his fleet.

There is a knock on the door. "Come in," says the Commander. The door opens and in steps Capt. Kairg Hindarson. "Sir we're a day or so out from arrival. The other Captains and I want to know what our plan is for the Lemurian situation." says Capt. Hindarson.

"Ah. I see. Well Kairg my old friend I've been thinking about myself ever since we got word about the Lemurians. I just finished reviewing what went wrong with Sovern's efforts to try and stop the Lemurian ships. Best I can tell is that they largely forgot to take into account the difficulties of advanced space combat: 3 dimensional movement, time, and distance. It isnt surprising though as this is new territory for them. They're thinking a bit too...nautical. While yes a trap like sea mines may be enough to stop ships at sea but it's different out here in space. Out hear traps such as mines need to be placed carefully where one knows beyond a doubt the enemy will have to pass through to reach their goal. In a place that they cannot go around. Just out in space is like placing mines in the middle of the ocean. You want to set up traps like that then you either place it in orbit around an astronomical object so that when the enemy arrives and enters orbit around the object they will be going straight into the minefield. It's either that or you place the minefield in orbit around the Sun and hope to the gods that the enemy's path crosses into the orbit of that minefield. Even in that one instance the enemy always has the chance to go around it.

Just like they teach us back at the National War College. It's better to focus on where the enemy is going rather than the path they are taking to get there. Because space is a vast empty place. Nothing mankind could ever dream of can cross such large distances to engage the enemy. The field of battle is the space around the destination. And even then it's like WWII when Hyperborean and Mineran fleets prowled the Great Ocean looking for one another. Like how those great fleets of old sent out patrols of aircraft to scout out the enemy so to must our ships of the aether send out our space fighters to scout for the enemy. That is our plan Captain.

When we arrive near the asteroid we arent going there straight off the bat and get to work redirecting it. No we're going to hang back and send our little eyes in the sky out to search for the enemy. The Lemurians are either inexperienced in advance space warfare and will get straight to work trying to cover their redirection efforts right out in the open or they will do the same as we do and slowly approach while looking for the enemy. Our doing that should also buy us a little bit of time for our own reinforcements to arrive. We're going to have to try and avoid heavy damage until we get reinforced." Explains Commander Haxom. "Be sure to share the plan with the other Captains. I want all hands to battlestations and all spacecraft at yellow alert."

"Alright. Yes sir." responds Capt. Hindarson before leaving to inform the other Captains.

Sovern reinforcements have been dispatched.

"All Hail the Hedran Crown"

Today marks the anniversary of Honk Knoh's protectorate status under the Crown of Hedra. This has inspired moralists and Hedran-backed politicians to begin a crusade against organized crime, and devote a monument to Hedra's influence over the Honk Knoh region. A fireworks display brought in the colors of the festival, through caravans of traveling merchants, and Hedran-inspired fashion. At the end of the festival, the Hedran anthem was sung by a famous Honk Knoh celebrity. When the Hedran flag rose on the pole, every resident respectfully bowed to its presence. They preached in unison, "All Hail the Hedran Crown".

King Arthur Wolfgang I sends a gift to the current leader of Honk Knoh. He sends one of the documents signed by King Benjamin I and Honk Knoh’s important political figures in 1949 that declared that Honk Knoh had ceased to be a colony and now became a protectorate.
