John Smith looked out the window at the rally.
"Margaret," he said, turning to the female agent, "get down there and mingle, find out what he's pushing."
With a curt nod, she slipped her pistol into her hidden holster. To anyone she was now just a regular citizen who wanted to lend an ear to the political speech currently taking place.
A lunar cycle, John thought, Must be a month then, can we hold out for that long?
John Smith thought deeply.
Can we even trust the government that enters?
John Smith sighed and opened the window, wanting to get some of the information himself and get some fresh air, which was in short supply back home. He pushed the thoughts of uncertainty regarding the government to the back of his mind as he gazed out over the crowd of people, wanting to know more about this political personality.

The young man laughs softly, "It is only through a mix of the young and the old that our government will function for the people, and besides if Queen Moia can ascend to the royalty at the young summer of 19 years, then why not a young president to guide the nation through a new day?" he softly smiles, gazing across the crowd. "Any other questions?" another person asks the crowd, seemingly a partner. "Sir, what are you to do about congress if elected?" one of the crowd asks. The man breathes, seemingly hesitant for only a fraction of a moment. "Well, what congress does is there business, even if their temper gets the best of them. I am sure that by the time the presidency is chosen, they will have calmed and we can work with out the conflict of previous administrations." He responds, and another question is looked for from the crowd. The crowd mumbles about themselves quietly, and by the time Margaret gets down to the crowd many opinions have been hard. "They're going to tear this boy apart..." "He's from where now..? Muako?" "He seems better than Ierna though..."

Seismographic instruments of all three nations detect a fmoderate tremor originating from the heart of an unoccupied (well, previously unoccupied) territory boarding the polar ice caps. The Roxium Federation detects the object and arms its surface-to-orbit and orbital defenses. A Roxium United Armed Force fleet in orbit near the Roxium/Monsone border also detects it and prepares to intercept it should it pose a risk to the Roxium Federation Cape of Good Hope Territory. Over the course of several minutes they monitor the object. When it becomes clear the object is not a threat, the Roxium Federation Cape of Good Hope Territory disarms its surface-to-orbit and orbital defenses, but the R.U.A.F fleet that detected it begins following it. About 10 minutes after the object "landed", the R.U.A.F fleet sets up shop in geostationary orbit nearby. As far as the Roxium general public is concerned, they think it's a meteor that somehow escaped from a near-earth asteroid mining operation.

Margaret stood silently and listened to the crowd, overhearing passing comments and piecemeal information regarding the political history of Azulakas. The information, however fractured, was useful in getting under cover. Still, since he was taking questions she might as well ask. As the man asked if there were any other questions, she politely raised a hand.

From his vantage point, John saw Margaret's actions and knew what she was going to ask...

"Excuse me," she asked in an impeccable Azulakassian accent, "but what will you do about the isolation of the country? will you repeal the declaration or will you keep the islands closed?"

"Clever girl." John whispered. Closing the window, he turned to his other agent, Wilson.
"Will, see if you can't find where the intelligence agency is based in Azulakas," he ordered, "discretely of course; keep a low profile and only look."
"Can't I buy anything to blend in?" Wilson asked, scratching his hairy forearm and slapping a mosquito that landed at the back of his neck.
"You can pretend you're looking for something to buy," John instructed, "but don't buy anything at all."
"but I want a souvenir."
"Well thats amazing," John said with an uncaring grin on his face, "how about you tell me when I care."
Wilson huffed and grumbled to himself in displeasure before conceding and leaving the apartment. John sighed and stowed his pistol in it's hidden holster and began to walk around the apartment, noting all the escape routes.

"Do we have the Coordinates?" Jonathan Blinds asked, reviewing the report of the unidentified object's impact as they walked towards the Green Manor.
"More or less," Jane said, "We believe it landed somewhere in the arctic circle, however it seems a bit on the awkward side to reach; the terrain is harsh and-"
"We're Aerlanicans, Jane," Jonathan said with a small laugh, "our entire nation is harsh terrain."
"I know, but, it is the arctic circle, the temperatures can reach below negative thirty degrees celsius."
Jonathan nodded and looked over the report.
"Call an emergency assembly in parliament of the grand council." Jonathan said.

(Jonathan blinds once again worked his magic to the Unified Council that had assembled to vote on the proposal of “the deployment of a research team to investigate the arrival of an unidentified object in the arctic” William Tyler, ever attempting to stymie Jonathan, argued that the operation would detract from their efforts against the Insurgents, but he could not hold enough sway to prevent the vote passing, as his party had possession over only 19 seats in the senate and only 36 seats in the House of Representatives, including the elected officials. The vote passed, with 71% voting for, 27% voting against and 2% abstaining)

"Get Ms Robin to contact Revolyutsiya, Klostersee and Lawithon," Jonathan ordered, motioning for Jane to write down his directions as he walked to his office, "tell them we are assembling a team to investigate an...extra-terrestrial anomaly and they are welcome to assist us in the research as per the terms of the September Agreement, and that the endeavour is titled “Operation Frozen Intrigue”. In the meantime, contact the C.O.U.R.I.E.R and assemble a team that includes three waste-rangers."
Jane began scribbling down the orders, keeping pace with the Prime Minister.
“Going in blind again, Mr Blinds?” Jane asked bluntly.
“Of course,” Jonathan replied, “no one achieved anything by not stepping into the unknown once in a while.”

The research team consisted of five agents and three scientists from C.O.U.R.I.E.R. along with three Waste-Rangers, five conventional infantry and an Aerlanican Frost Wolf called Aeda, who, after being told of the operation, begrudgingly agreed to tag along and help the Aerlanicas, but only if she was promised to be protected. They were ordered to prepare for winter expedition and possible combat, packing enough supplies to sustain fifteen men for two months, and awaited on the tarmac of the airforce base until a response came from their allies regarding their involvement (or lack there of) in the operation).

At Soligrad Airforce Base

The team of young Revolyutsiyan Air Wing soldiers operating the spy satellite network stares at the monitor speechless as they do not know what they had just witnessed.
Breaking the silence is Captain Pyetor Montessori saying "Alright comrades pay attention! We don't know what we just witnessed but we need to alert the Central Committee of the development and to try and get any satellites online ASAP! Get to it comrades the fate of Revolyutsiya may depend on your swift actions."

The troops respond by getting on radios, hitting buttons on the monitors, and drawing up flight plans of the other satellites.

The youngest of the soldiers in the room, Private David Hatfield speculates with his nearby comrades asking "Was it an EMP, a nuclear bomb, or maybe it was an advanced weapons test. I don't know but maybe it was..." He is cut off by the captain when he states "Quiet down and get to work you lemmings!"

5 minutes later in the Central Committee Situation Room

The Peoples Commissariat, Sean Rhett, says "Alright everyone quiet down, I know its early in the morning and everyone wants to go home but we may have a serious situation here. Our first order is we should mobilize the Mechanized Red Calvary just in case this is an attack. Our second order is we should contact our allies and ask if they have any other information. Now get to it"

Dear central committee, this is Minister of Foreign Affairs Chloe Robin. I am here to inform you of a recent operation about to be conducted which involves a research and reconnaissance team being sent to the impact site of the unidentified object. Lawithon has already agreed to partake in the operation, codename: Frozen Intrigue. And an Aerlanican team has already been assembled.

If you wish, you may assist in the operation as it technically falls under articles one to four of the September Agreement. If you do not wish to send troops to this expedition, we at least request to commission a naval vessel to sail to the arctic shore.

We await your response with patience.

*meaning that only the ship it was directed toward is able to detect it

The ship the beam was directed to is a Youkai-class battle cruiser, a fairly common hard-hitting Roxium ship most commonly seen as part of front-line combat fleets and small patrol/security fleets. An alien language best described as a combination of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean is briefly heard before the captain of the ship says "This is Ship Commander Hiro Shinmatoi of the Roxium United Armed Force Augusta Division 3rd Kongomaru Fleet. You are in solar system Amaterasu-Gamma 3, Roxium Federation Galactic District Volkron." The fleet of ships in geostationary orbit nearby, now identified as the 3rd Kongomaru Fleet, fans out a little. Some of the ships can be seen brandishing their weapons. During the 90 or so minutes, smaller Roxium spacecraft could be seen flying about surveying the area. Every so often a civilian Roxium spacecraft could be seen entering or exiting the atmosphere as a warp gate is present in geostationary orbit high above the north pole, warp gates being the primary way for civilian spacecraft to travel between planets, solar systems, and galaxies.

Lawithon wrote:Wait is this a scientific or military mission

To the Aerlanicans, it is a dangerous scientific expedition to investigate the crash site. The Aerlanicans have also deployed C.O.U.R.I.E.R. agents as they anticipate finding extra-terrestrials.

Aerlanica wants it to be just a peaceful research mission, but is anticipating the worse case scenario.

And that is why they are sending the military, including Waste-Rangers, which are effectively the elite of the elite, and will be largely unaffected by the barren, inhospitable environment of the frozen north.

(I should also note that COURIER stands for the Central Organisation of Universal Reconnaissance, Intelligence and Extra-terrestrial Research. Think a mix between the CIA and XCOM).

Alright in that case Lawithon sends it's prestigious 2nd fleet which contains 20 Phalanx Class Cruisers, 15 Borinton Class Destroyers and 3 Constantine class Annihilators. These along with roughly 40 other support ships such as fighter carriers and point defense ships.

Notes:
Annihilators are the strongest class of craft in the Lawithonian navy

For firepower scales assume the weakest have the fire power of a star destroyer from star wars and the strongest one has the fire power of the Super Star Destroyers

Lawithon uses LSI-98 Fighters for space combat.

I'm more than willing to lead the operation, it just means that I'll have to bring over a general as well, which won't be so difficult.

I just wanted to see if everyone was ok with me leading the operation because I don't want to, like, do stuff people aren't ok with.

So Aerlanica's leading the operation?
