Back to Canopy next year eh?

I was very disappointed to see Canopy join the Potato Alliance. Have you all not learned by now? Large coalitions involving UPPERCUT only end in disaster for those without the good sense to stay away.

I had hoped to spend a nice holiday under the gorgeous leaves of Forest, but now, well . . . I prefer my retreats to have only light radiation.

You all are such downers. We're not even halfway through the event yet :P

Exactly.

Not even halfway through and the official faction was destroyed, had to be abandoned, and now you're hiding in Horsemen and only poking your heads out long enough to send a few volleys out before ducking back to safety.

If anything, we're being too generous. Months of planning and within four hours it all came apart.

I do agree with some of the others that it was a mistake joining Potato, and that it would’ve been better just to have an non-aggression or Mutual-defense pact with them, but that doesn’t mean we should give up.

We still have 14 hours left to blow Horsemen out of the water, and we have twice the amount of shields than their nukes coming to us. We can still win, so you should be ashamed if you gave up already. We may not have made the best choices with regards to joining Potato, but we still can’t give up.

Okay, now let me try my hand at spinning things.

Two hours in, Horsemen's elite group script-fueled raiders and defenders inevitably went after us, because we're the second-largest faction in the game.
Their sheer size enabled them to score many hits, but nevertheless the vast majority of (about 9/10, I believe) were completely unharmed, and we weren't done. So we, by consensus of at least ten commanders, executed a quick and well-timed shift in strategy (conceived originally by yours truly) that aimed at making the rest of the game as annoying as possible for the Horsemen. We all bundled into Horsemen's own faction and sat there, from under their own shield protection, shooting down nukes they launched.

We weren't quite expecting it, but that had the side effect of making them think Potato Alliance was completely done. So they moved on to elsewhere. Now we've reclaimed the original faction, and while Horsemen remains at the top, they no longer have the 0 radiation that they took away from our faction. In fact, they have thousands and thousands of radiation -- and it's growing by the minute as we attack with with our allies. They already have less radiation than we do.

You're clearly not up to the times, because you don't seem to realize that everyone's back in the faction now. On the other hand... I was up until 5 am commanding last night.

Most N-Day factions fired upon this heavily have just given up -- UPPERCUTS last year, for example. Months of planning and we built a system that could keep going and adapt to new strategies and not give up. That's a truly strong alliance. That's not "falling apart". It's coming together.

I have absolutely no regrets about "joining" Potato. We didn't even really join them so much as, by number of regions, they joined Canopy. Canopy inflated and encompassed a lot more of our friends as Potato Alliance -- The Rejected Realms, the South Pacific, the North Pacific, Spiritus, 10000 Islands, Union of Democratic States, etc. There is no mistake in sharing an event with our embassies and our friends -- and that doesn't change even if certain things don't go as planned. We are still working together as strong as ever, and... we still have 14 more hours to go!

I in no way meant that we should give up or that we’re a failure — Potato is still going strong, and we haven’t failed.

What I meant was that, as you said, since we were so big we were immediately targeted. I think if we didn’t join Canopy and instead had an alliance with them we could’ve avoided the early targeting from Horsemen, but what’s done is done.

We haven’t yet given up, nor will we, and we are slowing but surely withering away at Horsemen’s defenses. We have risen from the ashes, like a phoenix from the flames Potato from the oven, and we will surely come out on top.

I meant no disrespect, I simply meant that we received a lot of nukes early on due to our size, and that this could’ve been avoided if we had made an alliance instead of a merge, but I in no ways felt that this was your fault or anyone else’s, and I’m happily surprised by how well we’ve come back from the ashes.

Edit: I just realized I made this whole post on my puppet, Mowte. FYI, this is MB here, sorry for that

"If you do not join a Faction, you cannot be targeted and cannot participate in the Nuclear Apocalypse." Where is this option in real life?

I absolutely love revenge, but it's not winning so much as dragging them down with you. You're measuring victory by friendship. I measure victory by the scoreboard (though I must say, I find the Horsemen distasteful and applaud you for muddying them as you fell).

It's lovely to know that Potato Alliance wasn't a complete failure, but unless you care about interesting new strategies more than winning, the public perception of the Alliance's failures (namely to keep a high score and low radiation) may lead to distrust and disinclination to return next year. At this point, Potatoes ranking high may be impossible, but I look forward to seeing how far you can bring down the Horsemen.

Frankly, we have dragged our score back up from twice as low as it was and are climbing, while HOTA has had their score nearly cut in half and is falling.

Potato is doing well all things considered. The timing was extremely awkward for a lot of folks, and we got hit by the bot armies at the worst time for our activity levels. Such is life! We have the ability to reach a positive score, and to participate in dropping HOTA to a negative score. I'm happy enough with how we're doing. This is how these games go - plenty of time yet to play!

The united nikland wrote:Well can anyone answer my question about what parties I should adopt?

I’d say go with the normal, except maybe have a disproportionately large Green Party, like what we have here in MB. In addition, I’d say that the Socialist Party and the Liberal Party and evening maybe the Christian Democrat Party should also be eco-friendly and environmentalist, but not as much as the Greens.

In addition, you should rename the Fascist Party. Strategically they wouldn’t want to call themselves fascist because of the bad connotation, so maybe call them the “Nikland First Party” or the “National Defense Party” instead.

Finally, even though you should go with the normal, non-environmentalist-themed parties, you can still have a very large Green Party. In Middle Barael, for example, the Greens are the biggest party right now, and that’s completely fine. In addition, you can make some of your other parties (such as Liberal, Socialist, and maybe Christian Democrat) also be eco-friendly as a less important policy.

Edit: I can’t believe we’ve gone from -60,000 to -14,000! Well done Mount Seymour and whoever the other strategist is (sorry I forgot)!

That would be Lord Dominator (and about forty commanders from other regions, doing most of the work).

The degree to which we are targeted has stayed low enough to enable a massive buildup of shields, and we also are building up out stockpiles, too. Things have been really turning around.

I am just playing with Ruinenlust (it's my only active country) as one of several tabs, but it's still fun to help build up shields. (I'm a strategist.) :-)

Edit: We've gone positive score!!! :-D

Double Edit: We've surpassed the Horsies!!

5. Horsemen of the Apocalypse Score 14,910 8,720 Nations Underworld
6. An Alliance of Potatoes Score 11,352 4,549 Nations The Potato Alliance

I just hope we get ahead of them and at this point I think we will.

For those playing the home game, we have passed HOTA and are climbing the board, now in 5th place overall and with a positive score.

As always - trust in the generals and follow the orders. Their strategy has worked well so far - never take the opening salvo to mean much for the endgame.

I’m such a noob, I just defended someone from HOTA, :(

That's quite all right! Your very own Delegate might have also done that accidentally early this morning, too! That was a sight.
