Next week (IRL Tomorrow), a festival is being held in Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The festival will celebrate the history of Japan both nationally and internationally. President Akiya noted that she wishes to invite President Dawes of the United States of America (Imperial Eagle), Empress Valeria II of Infiny, and King Henry I of the United Kingdom (Orange-bourgogne) to attend the festivities of the festival being that the relations of the nations are close and the histories of the nations are intertwined throughout.

Clearance will be made at the Osaka International Airport, which is located about an hour away from Kyoto, as the leaders arrive. Reservations will be made for other amenities for the leaders.

Statement from the Office of the Empress

I am most honored to have been invited to this wonderful celebratory occasion. The culture and history of Japan is one that deserves much veneration and admiration indeed - I am most excited to learn more about it. I also think this will be an excellent initiative to bring our relations closer.

Therefore, I am happily accepting this invitation alongside a small personal delegation, primarily for safety and communicative reasons.

Yours truly,

Valeria II

A radio station starts to air pro-Hellenic views. The advertisement begins to talk about the investments that the Hellenic League has placed in Bulgaria. How the new canal benefits all nations on the Black Sea. It talks about the close cultural ties between the two nations.

On a television in a persons home, the news station airs a piece on a question: is North Bulgaria better off in the Hellenic League? It appears unbiased, posing the independent argument and the pro Hellenic argument, but it is clear: the piece is pro Hellenic.

Kyoto Festival Opening

A podium was set up on a stage inside Fushimi Kitabori Park. Large speakers sat at both ends of the stage, but were silent. Seated in the front row were the leaders of the United States of America (Imperial Eagle), The UK (Orange-bourgogne), and Infiny, along with their respective entourages. While everyone was waiting, the speakers popped on and started playing an instrumental of the Japanese national anthem, "Nihon'nouta".

When the anthem finished playing, the Secretary of Cultural Affairs, Ishibashi Ei, stepped up to the podium to speak. She looked at the crowed and then looked down at the podium. "I would like to welcome everyone to this celebration here in the Fushimi Kitabori Park, here in this wonderful city of Kyoto. We come here to celebrate the history of Japan. For those of you who aren't natives here in Japan, our formal history dates over 2,000 years. While we are not the same as we were 2,000 years ago, or even 100 years ago, we are still Japanese, and are proudly so." she said, nodding as she looked into the crowd. "I can sit here and give an in-depth history lesson, but I know that's not why any of you are here. While you are here to celebrate our history, you aren't here to be put right back in to your history classes." she said with a chuckle.

She looked down at the podium, at her notes, again. "It is believed that our formal history starts in 660 B.C.E. From then to now, we have been through many hardships, victories and defeats. We hit new highs, and sank to new lows. Through our history, we have made allies, but we have also made enemies. Gladly, we have three allies here today that have been present in one way or another throughout our history. I'd like to welcome President Rebecca Dawes of the United States of America." she said, pausing for applause. "I'd also like to welcome, King Henry, the first, of the United Kingdom." said said, pausing again for applause. "Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to welcome Empress Valeria, the second, of Infiny." she said, pausing one more time for applause.

"Now, before I keep going on about our history and how excited I am for this festival, I will let the person that needs to speak, speak. I'll now hand the podium over to President Akiya." finished Secretary Ishibashi before backing and bowing away. President Akiya walked up to the podium and was met with cheers and applause. She smiled at the crowd and remained silent until the noise died down. "Thank you, everyone. I am not going to sit here and ramble on with unnecessary points, and I'm not going to make this celebration overtly political. This celebration isn't about politics. It's about our history and rejoicing over our history. Not only rejoicing, but look back on our mistakes and learning from them. This festival is the first of its kind here in Japan, as we haven't had a one-week festival here in the 'Old Capital' that celebrates our entire history. There will be shows, games, food, music, and friendly competitions through the week that everyone here will be able to enjoy, free of charge. I would like to thank President Dawes, King Henry I, and Empress Valeria II for attending." she said before stepping to the side of the podium and bowing towards them. She then stepped back to the podium. "When I took the position of President of Japan, I vowed to make Japan greater and lead us to a time of peace, harmony, and prosperity. My predecessors wished to push our past under the metaphorical rug due to the stains such as Pearl Harbor. I, as made obvious now, won't push our history behind some curtain to hide it from everyone. We must accept who we are and we must accept how we got to this point. If you don't acknowledge your history, and especially if you don't acknowledge the darker parts of your history, you will not be able to grow as both an individual and a collective. Remember your past because you are your past. Thank you." she said before bowing to the crowd and turning around the shake the hand of Secretary Ishibashi.

She angled the microphone to herself and started speaking. "'That concludes this very short opening ceremony. We will be back at the end of this festival during the night for a firework display and a closing ceremony. In an hour, we will start music playing, which will be every day of the festival from half an hour after opening until closing. Food and games are open now, and our first competitions will start in half an hour. I would like to once again thank you all for coming to this festival, tanoshinde!" After she bowed to the crowd, pop music started playing as people rushed on stage to convert the setup to that for a band.

A group of people in suits with a round pin on their collar that bore the Japanese flag walked over to the parties of the leaders. "President Akiya would like to personally meet you all. If you don't mind following us, we can escort you to her." said one of the guards. The guards escorted them into a large dining room in one of the temples in the park area. Inside the room was President Akiya who stood and bowed as the leaders walked in. "Kon'nichiwa, your excellencies." she said.

To my friends in the ESAU, I write to you in hopes you find this personal letter to be a welcome one.

The Hellenic League is approaching a new era. It is an era of opportunity. You are all entering a new era as well. The ESAU is poised and ready to grow, and I am personally excited to see such a diverse and culturally rich region approach the world.

It is in those beliefs, I write to ask you all, that the Hellenic League, be an observer state of the ESAU. It is with that status, we hope to grow closer and strengthen our economic ties as a result. We also hope to enable ESAU to grow and compete more fully in Europe and abroad.

This letter, with my signature, acts as a formal request of ESAU observer status, as granted to me by my authority of Basileus.

Viceroyalty of North Chosun

The Board of War has officially declared martial law in the Viceroyalty of North Chosun, after the local civil service has been overwhelmed by the recent onslaught of floods and typhoons.

Recently, the Viceroy of North Chosun Yi Hong had inspected reconstruction work in a flood-hit area, having expressed trouble and distress at the great damage caused by the recent series of heavy rain and typhoons. She later expressed satisfaction on the progress of the reconstruction in several rural villages, although she had also instructed her Cabinet that they would have to rethink plans for a previously undeveloped economy already hobbled by unfavourable geography. With the latest floods, previous plans to redevelop massive swathes of North Chosun for economic purposes have been halted, meaning that economic recovery will most likely take longer to accomplish.

Now, relief work appears to be the Viceroyalty's headline project. Over 600 tonnes of aid was recently shipped from across the Qing, but local civil services continue to be overwhelmed. Over 4 million were affected, and the Nyongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center reportedly suffered a partial core meltdown. This occurred after the coolant system of the reactor was damaged by the floodwaters, leading to a loss-of-coolant meltdown. The entire county of Ningbian (Nyongbyon) was evacuated, as the Qing has officially experienced its first nuclear accident.

Details remain scarce, although many suspect this was what compelled the military to enact martial law. The partial meltdown resulted in the release of radioactive gases and radioactive iodine into the environment.

Over 5,000 Banner troops and 6,000 Green Standard troops were deployed to the Viceroyalty, most of which were equipped in CBRN gear. Over 40,000 were evacuated from the county and nearby areas, as the Qingbian Bayuan Railway (Chongnyon Parwon Line) stopped operations.

After several discussions with representatives in Donau-bundesreich, we will be opening a cultural exchange campus in the city of Dubrovnik.

This cultural exchange center will be known as the The Sanctuary of Ares and will consist of a Temple dedicated to Ares, with an additional smaller temple dedicated to Athena.

It will also consist of an open air theatre, two stoas, a gymnasium and palestra for recreational activities. A Leonidaion (banquet hall) will be built as well to serve two purposes: To feed the visitors to the site and the staff, and will also provide meals to those in need in the area.

Three additional buildings will be constructed to serve as a Museum of History, a museum of art, and a lecture hall, with the two museums also housing lecture halls, and will work in conjunction with local colleges and universities to provide education on the unique history of our two nations and various other subjects as determined between the University and the Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary will also host the official Embassy of Hellas in Danubia on the grounds. Housing for staff and for the ambassador will be on the grounds, including housing for security personnel.

This Sanctuary will provide an opportunity for Hellas and Danubia to showcase the unique cultural exchange and history that our nations share, and show unity in the Balkans.

The Ambassador selected by Basileus Nikolaus Atreidai is Alex Petratos.

The Sanctuary will utilize modern and classic building materials, and statues made by artists throughout Hellas. The estimated cost of such a project is $125 million and will take 3 years to complete (156 RL days)

From the desk of the Basileus, Nikolaus Atreidai
In coordination with the office of the Archon & Foreign Ministry

The completion of The Sanctuary of Ares signifies an important step in the relationship between Donau-bundesreich and The Hellenic League. Our two nations work closely in so many areas, and we agree on a wide variety of topics. It only made sense in my eyes to commit to such a drastic cultural exchange program, that will also act as my governments representation to Danubia.

Eastern Europe, and specifically, the Balkans, share a unique and long history. Most recently this history includes a horrible civil war that has resulted in truly amazing stories, such as that of Emília Anyaberek Stauffer. Her leadership was crucial to a time of uncertainty. She saw it through and the people of her nation that she is now a mother of will continue to see it through.

The use of the sanctuary by those in Dubrovnik is welcome, and I personally hope those who visit will also choose to learn. We hope you learn many crucial things to continue the development of your nation, and ultimately of yourself.

May our two nations continue to thrive and build up Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and may our people thrive together.

A rare and unusual storm has set its eyes on the country, with a cyclone like storm having formed. Current wind speeds have been measured at 60 mph sustained winds.

A red alert warning has been placed for the entirety of The Peloponnese and the west coast of the Hellenic league. The red alert is the highest available warning for wind, flooding, and rain.

The storm tracked off the North African coast into the Mediterranean and is now tracking towards the mainland, expected to make landfall in a day.

Based on the current status of the storm, it is expected to reach a category 1 like nature, with the potential of an eye wall developing.

The Hellenic Navy and coast guard are prepared to respond to distress calls, and resources are being mobilized quickly to respond to mainland flooding. Months worth of rain is expected to come down.

The Hellenic Weather service has reached out to NOAA and other Atlantic based hurricane tracking services, suggesting the name Talia as a means of keeping track of it.

We will have additional storm updates as they come.
