SOME WINDS IN THE AIR ... :

You can fight for Favouritism points by creating an army and giving it a destination; to attack a particular province the other faction owns. Any such decision must be clearly made in your In-Character post, (to distinguish this from a regular army attack against neighbouring factions).

If you attack Broken Tooth Tribe's territories you get +50 more Favouritism points per province taken from them.
If you want to attack Broken Tooth Tribe's territories but you are not bordering them, then your army that is sent towards their lands can move 2 ticks away towards them:
- irrespective of any other army orders you give in that update (so you still have a maximum movement of 3 ticks or one of 2 ticks and unlimited of 1 tick)
- irrespective of your diplomacy status with your neighbouring factions (you don't have to be allied/friends with and you don't have to wait 1 update whenever you cross a border into another faction's land; as long as they let you walk through their lands - you first have to discuss this).

If you attack Kingdom of Arthedain's territories you get +40 more Favouritism points per province taken from them.
If you want to attack Kingdom of Arthedain's territories but you are not bordering them, then your army that is sent towards their lands can move 2 ticks away towards them:
- irrespective of any other army orders you give in that update (so you still have a maximum movement of 3 ticks or one of 2 ticks and unlimited of 1 tick)
- irrespective of your diplomacy status with your neighbouring factions (you don't have to be allied/friends with and you don't have to wait 1 update whenever you cross a border into another faction's land; as long as they let you walk through their lands - you first have to discuss this).

If you attack Clan Frostbeard's territories you get +20 more Favouritism points per province taken from them.

If you attack The Defender's Fjord's territories you get +10 more Favouritism points per province taken from them.

If you attack Druwaith Folk's territories you get +5 more Favouritism points per province taken from them.

If you attack Empire of Coldvar's territories you get +5 more Favouritism points per province taken from them.

Observations:

  • Any faction is able to take advantage of the above bonuses if they have less than the max number of provinces or if they attack other factions that have at least +2 more provinces than the number of provinces they currently own, irrelevant of the amount of provinces they have (so if you have 6 provinces you can attack only other factions that have 8+ provinces).

  • You will not be at war with the other faction if you do not share a border. Your army set to attack for Favouritism points must be clearly mentioned In-Character, as it will have a special army icon. You can only attack an enemy province at their borders, you can't attack their innermost province (and end up attacking any of their other provinces in the process).

  • You can move 1 or 2 ticks (provinces away) per update with this particular army, irrelevant of any other armies you have or army orders you give to your other armies. You can tranverse any faction borders instantly (without having to wait 1 turn on the other side of the border). However, you must ask permission from any faction your army will encounter in their march forward. If you do not get permission or your permission is denied then you will attack and fight for that province, it in turn turning neutral / barbarian afterwards.

  • If your army reaches the destination and it wins, then the remainder of your army returns to your capitol and the province will turn neutal and have as extra defenders half of your remainder army strength. If your army can not reach the destination, you can either disband it (and it'll return to your capitol just injured if its at most 4 provinces away from your faction's border or it'll return to your capitol injured and unable to move for 1 turn if its more than 4 provinces away from your faction's border) or send more troops as reinforcements to it (either as normal army movements if the army is close or as "another" favouritism army).

  • Other faction armies can merge with your army but they will get at maximum half of the bonuses you get (linearly depending on how many troops they send compared to your numbers) and they will fight with 50% forces. You must have either a Friendship or an Alliance with other factions for their armies to merge with your army. For merging, the friends armies must be in the same province as your attacking force.

  • Your army will lose 5% army strength numbers per turn for any turn it is not in your own provinces or your official allies provinces.

  • You do not lose any Favouritism points per update if you do not do anything else in the update (attack or be attacked).

  • If you've been the target of such an attack and at a later time you fight to take back the province (against the neutral army now residing there) and you win, you will get 7 more Favouritism points.

THE TALK FROM THE OLD UPDATE... :

.
.

Defender's Fjord (message 1 of 1):

King Alexius was enraged at Tulin Ironflow. He attacked Dorwinion! For what? Nothing. And now, he is defenseless. Well, that's not his fault, is it? He should have called upon reliable Dralvik for help, and not Tulin. So many troops he has! It makes Alexius sick to the stomach the error of judgment he made. Surely, a usurper cannot be as reliable as a rightful heir; and that's all Tulin is, a usurper. He has one last trick up his sleeve. He writes to Garahir of the Drus:

Garahir,
You are in a war with the diabolical Snicklefritz, this I know. The Corsair army is less than half your size! You should split your forces, leave half to annihilate the Corsairs, and then send the rest against the Orcs, for if you don't, the East will fall to the Orcish Horde, just as it has done in Ages past. There is lots of loot to be had. Please, Garahir, ride forth with your men and attack the Horde which now threatens our very existence.

He sent it on his way, and prayed it would work. Now, he writes to Dralvik:

Dralvik,
Brother! We speak again at last. I would like to inform you that I am losing this war, in no small part to Tulin Ironflow's reckless behavior. It seems, you were right about him after all, and now he is defenseless. I must pull back once again, to weather out the storm. I may be needing your help very soon.
-Alexius Comnenus I, King of the Defender's Fjörd, Ruler of the Iron Hills and the Withered Heath.

--------
Pull back all troops and bring all army to Iron Hills, including ones in Gray Mountain and Withered Heath
Sends messages telling Dralvik of the situation, and asking Garahir to attack.

Clan Frostbeard (message 1 of 2):

--- Baldur's Company ---

"Naturally, I don't pretend that the Forochel's ale is as renowned as the Blue Mountains beer, or as ancient, but I think it has a remarkable notes of to strong floral meadow... hmm, watch out that root there... Where was I? Oh, so understanding the nature of the diferents beverages gives us the mindset of the different dwarven settlements. The origin if you will, for me it is just fasinating", Bravuli finished talking with a bright smile thinking about the different ales. To the rest of the company it was a relief, as they stop listening to him a while back.

They stopped to camp for the night. They were high on a hill over a gray swamp, and before them was the river Hoarwell. Only the cry of birds declared the presence of the dwarves in the dense forest. The trees were so tall and wide, twisting around themself like an impossible knot. The sight was so alien to the dwarves. Some of them found themself so anxious about the surrounding mist that was covering the campsite that they could not imagine sleeping.

Fortunately, Baldur proposed to entone some chants to calm their group. Long into the night, they sang Forochel's songs and some of the Iron-Breakers chants, sobbing and bellowing and whispering wherever appropriate. Gradually, they began to feel drowsy, but a sudden crack of wood snapping made Baldur sit straight up.

"What was that?", asked Baldur.

"There are some enormous birds up in the trees moving around", whispered Krenrok, the youngest dwarf of the company, pointing in the direction of the dark shapes above.

"I wouldn't worry about that, just some birds" said Bravuli, irritated with the group for not listen to his tale of ales and beers. "Now listen... does anyone knows why they use smoky cloves and fresh-cut ashwood in River Lhun's beer?... anyone?"

The dark shapes in the trees were some of them perched like birds, others stood up straight like men. As Bravuli talked about ale, Krenrok watched the figures heavily leap from branch to branch, across impossible distances for anything without wings. They were gathering in groups surrounding the camp spreading to every tree around the camp. Suddenly they plummeted from the heights.

"By my beardl!", cried Baldur: "They're falling like rain!"

"Probably oak seed pods", Bravuli shrugged, not turning around. "Some of this trees have remarkable..."

The camp erupted into panic. A nimble shadow had crushed Bravuli skull, and started to feed from the corpse. It was a rough creature with pointed ears, wide yellow eyes.

"Werewolfs!", Baldur whimpered, shrinking back and holding to his warhammer.

Axes and claws flew through the air, lit up by a sudden nearby burst of flames from the campfire.

As quickly as they struck, the creatures retreated, diving into the dark. Baldur and Krenrok ran to the hill fall and saw some figures dash out of the water, shake themselves, and disappear into the wood.

"Got one!", cried a voice, not too distantly.

For a moment, Krenrok lay still. His head throbbed and his chest burned. Baldur turned on his heels and saw lit up by the fire a beast in a pool of blood pierced by a pickaxe and several arrows, it was sliding aimlessly in pain. Cautiously, Baldur raised up his weapon and puted an end to the beast.

The next day Bravuli's body was buried, with rocks, and on top of his grave a small mug of beer was placed. The group packed what they could and crossed the river to Redhorn Gate.

The Woodland Realm (message 1 of 1):

Tulin Ironflow and his soldiers made the long way back to Western Mirkwood; the vast orcish horde was spanning as much as the eyes could see, and in the whole province of Dorwinion you could not drop a rock without hitting an orc!

Although they have seen the numberless orcish force from a distance, the dwarves retreating for Iron Hills were caught off-guard by the vanguard of the orcish forces, made entirely from fast-speed mounted orcs that engaged in battle the dwarves; Tulin had a dire choice to make; if he stayed for too long to engagein skirmishes with the mounted-orcs then the bulk of their forces would have converged on their location and definitely decimated all the dwarves forces. Thus, Tulin called the retreat and left a small group of dwarves to fend off the vanguard and sacrifice themselves.

Now back in Western Mirkwood, Tulin was still in shock due to the sheer amount of orcs he had just encountered. "It is beyond any words and beyond imagination; Don't think anyone can stop them now, they'll steamroll and destroy any thing they touch ..."

.
.

Druwaith Folk (message 1 of 2):

Garahir of the Dru folk received the message from his friend, the dwarf of the Defender's Fjord. While the Dru are peaceful and don't care that much for whatever happens in the world, Garahir was moved by the words of his friend. It also helped that both the Corsairs and the Broken Tooth Tribe had taken provinces from the Dru; it was time to take them back.

Garahir sent a message to King Alexius Comnenus:
"Friend of the Defender's Fjord,
Your words have moved me.
You can count on our friendship and alliance in these times of need.
We hope to also count on you if the time ever comes for us to be in conflict with others."

Garahir sent two additional messages, one to the Corsairs:
"Leader of the Corsairs of Umbar, please be advised that we will move to reclaim our lost province of Ithilien. We have let you take it from us, but it is time for the province to return to the rightful hands of the Dru."

And the second message to the Broken Tooth Tribe:
"Leader of the orcs of Broken Tooth Tribe, you hath taken Dagorlad from us a while ago. Please be advised that we will move to reclaim it, so you have enough time to move any of your leftover troops and garrisons."

In the mean time the Dru folk of the Foothills completely investigated the mysterious cave near Redhorn Gate and are starting some contraptions found in the underground. They make a deep sound, as if the ground growled, and some ice chunks of the nearby mountain tops have fallen down.

----

----
Attack Rohan with 6900 Humans

Kingdom of Arthedain (message 1 of 1):

For a time now, King Minyatur was feeling quite sick. This damn medicine that the Sage offered to him just isn't working any longer, and the Sage is nowhere to be found! "Where would he have disappeared?" the king asked himself. "Oooh, and these migraines!"

The king started to have many visions about his elf friend, the king of Elvea-Falasse. Apparently, in these visions, the elves stationed in Northern Cardolan are sharpening their swords and are eyeing the capitol in the Shire. And could it be that these visions were actually premonitions? The elves of Mithlond have refused any contact with the outside world for quite some time ... who knows what they plan to do!

And now the humans of Coldvar have advanced into the Kingdom of Arthedain's lands. "Ohh, and these damn migraines!". The king was suffering and was definitely unable to concentrate or to think straight. King Minyatur ordered his personal guard to make their priority to search for the Sage, leaving the king personally undefended for the first time since ... forever.

The king of Arthedain looked at the map of his lands and decided, curiously enough, to move his forces in order to protect Hollin and the Redhorn Gate pass instead of the rest of his faction's provinces.

And the reply from the dwarves of Forochel. "Ahh, yes. Good fortune for the forces of Forochel to have answered our call! Good allies in a time of need. Where are they? And where's the Sage? Ahh, no-one's here?!"

King Minyatur was definitely not feeling well.

Move all forces from Cardolan to Hollin

.
.

Trollshaw Realms (message 1 of 1):

Torogok received news from the outside world; the message he received in private confirmed that some plans are still in motion; and the rest were just notifications of troop movements from different factions.

Torogok was unsure where to officially put his loyalties. He decided that the best course of action was inaction, at least until more things are certain; surrounded by such large factions, any misstep could mean a faction wipe

.
.

Clan Frostbeard (message 2 of 2):

The weather held fair, though slightly frosty, for the rest of Dralvik's guards journey so that they traveled quickly over firm stone roads. On arrival to Upper Rhudaur, warm winds arrived at last for there were hints of a thaw. The road grew muddy underfoot, and everywhere one could hear water trickling and dripping faintly but steadily. It was a welcome sound.

A crowd of dwarves of all sorts and kin filled the wide concourse and High Commander Toremrouk greeted King Dralvik and his guards as the lights winked in the tents and the houses.

"Toremrouk, old friend, the time has come", Dralvik said with a serious face to the old dwarf.

"Aye, I will deliver this message Dralvik, the troops are prepare", Toremrouk said as he took out a message and handed it to a goat rider.

The message:
///////////////////////////////////
///// To King Alexius of Defender's Fjord
///////////////////////////////////

Eastern Brother,

What happened after the Gundabad Dwellers fell was a daze.

Oh, what fools we were. We wanted so desperately someone to help us ending that war, that we lavished an usurper upon his first step up at the last moment of the conflict and share the glory.

With that simple act of gratitude, we allowed a vile rot to seep into our homeland, to putrefy our once noble and distinguished civilization. And that's all Tulin is, an usurper and an oathbreaker to the Frostbeard's eyes.

It was days before I began to suspect the error we had made.

Saddly it took Tulin besmirched his name once again for you to realise his true self and how much his word really weights.

However, I will not allow you to fight alone against your enemy. Although I can't contribute much, It hurts me to know about your current situation, since my duty now is with the King Miniatur and help his own.

I will send wathever I can speare from this main task to aid you.

Endure in your castle and wait tidings form the West Wind,

Dralvik
///////////////////////////////////

__________________________________________________

The king with a heavy look, got on his mount and looking at the troops he pronounced with great motivation:

"Sons of Mahal! Everything for what have we worked for, everything for we have ever loved and fought, be might be lost...", Dralvik said despondently, looking at the mounted goat riders behind and ahead, his guards; dwarves from head to toe clad in an iron armor with red garments and a crested helmet in the shape of a dragon.

"Yet! We can stop it. We have gained our name among the freefolk, as a powerfull force and as I had promised you all we reach wealthier an promising lands. Now I do understand better my father's dream vision of united dwarves, seeking the best for our peolpe.

We have made our sacrifice, we have all lost love ones. For surely worth is measured by the price we pay...

But those things that were suppose to torned us appart have made us stronger the evilhearted elves didn't manage to break us... I'm looking at you sons of the Blue Mountains. You rised from the fire stronger than ever... The Orcs of Gundabad couldn't against us, isn't that right sons of Forochel?... and what army can match our mighty force, the blessed guardians of the West, the Iron-Breakers!", Dralvik raised his arms and the crowd cheered frenetically.

Dralvik continued: " What greater praise of our force could we ask, than to be call to arms and help our allies? I know, I know... but we must answer this call as the forces of evil are moving towards them. And, and if words are true, the enemy is at the gate of our allies... "whats in it to win?" you might ask, whats the cost?..." Dralvik paused while looking at every dwarf he could to the eyes.

"Freedom!", He said: "the freedom to live a peacefull life for our kin and our allies... In my person lies the answer to that call... but is up to you to decide if you wanna join me...

So I ask, sons of Forochel!, are you with me?!

Watchers of the River Lhun!, will you join me?!

Guardians of the Blue mountains!,
Would you march with me to the jaws of the abyss to see death in the face and spit on his brow?!

Dwarves shall fight and will be welcome in the halls! Axe-time, sword-time. The northen wind will guide us to our destiny ere the world falls!

Foward! Foward!"

The soldiers applauded and cheered, as they marched southwest, clattering their shields; the ground was shaking.
