Because Britain was busy with a great power war so they didn't care what so upstart former colonies were up to. And to your claim that it was a draw you attacked us and we fought you off and then burned down the whitehouse that's a win for Canada. 2 you may have landed on the moon but we got free healthcare and a great as well as safe school system.
You can’t say “no they were not British they were Canadian” and then claim the British burning of Washington as your own. Can’t have it both ways. Besides, the burning of Washington, by the British not the Canadians, was in retaliation for American burning of York in Canada. The native allies were crushed by the Americans, a British, not French, officer was the commander of much of the Canadian forces. The war against Napoleon ended and so the British could send forces to burn Washington

No well we were a British colony most people viewed them self as Canadian or french or even some left over Arcadians and we'll the supreme British commander was British most mid level officers like majors and captains were from new France and no the war against Napoleon was not ended so there was no new troops from England so most of the time we were outnumbered 12 to 1 and York for Washington that's a pretty good deal

The war against Napoleon ended before the burning of Washington. Burning of Washington occurred in august of 1814, war of the 6th coalition ended in May of 1814. The Napoleonic wars picked up almost a year after. That’s why the British, not the Canadians, had the troops to burn Washington. Either way you look at it Canadians can’t claim burning of Washington, only the British. Best the Canadians can claim is pushing the US back, but after the US burned York. So like I said, a draw.
For a supposedly superior education they definitely taught you all incorrectly. Which explains why Canada hasn’t been to the moon 😎

No 90%,( not real number but close enough) of all British troops were Canadians in the sense that they were born in the new world or had lived there long enough .And you attacked us and we fought you to a draw which is a textbook win, claiming you won is looking like claiming a tie in Vietnam. 90% of the troops that burned Washington were not Canadian. Idk who told you that but they lied to you. The vast majority of the British army were native to the British isles. After Napoleon was defeated the British shipped continental troops to the US to attack, since those troops were now free from having to fight Napoleon. They burned Washington, were defeated at Baltimore, and were defeated at New Orleans. Canadian attacks into the Great Lakes were crushed, the Canadian invasion of the north west territory was also defeated. The Canadian native allies were defeated as well. I have never seen a nationalistic Canadian but the War of 1812 was a draw at best for Canada and a draw at best for the US as both Canadian and US attacks on each other were eventually repulsed by the other side.
“Fighting to a draw is a textbook win.” No? A textbook win is a win. A draw is a win for neither side. Canada maintained its colonial status and the US asserted its independence to the British. Both sides got what they primarily wanted, hence it was a draw.
