Hello, and welcome to the New World Union! We hope that you have a great time in our region, no matter how long your stay. This region is constantly changing, and it has so many parts that we can't describe the entire thing in one post. If you have been directed here by a member of the region, that is why. This page will guide you in a simple and easy-to-follow way through the workings of this region. Once again, we all hope you have a great time in this region!

New to Nationstates?

If you're new, you might find regions, the World Assembly and others very confusing. This section is dedicated to explaining the basics so that the game will become more simple for you. If you have a question that isn't answered here, telegram Saint indopeland (me) and I will add it here.

What is there to do in this game?
You can play the simple way by just answering the issues you get through, but you can also do so much more! You can just chat in the Regional Message Board of your region, you can roleplay a country (see the roleplay section for more information), you can browse the forums, and even get involved in Raiding and Defending!

What are these issues that come through?
These are basically what is going on in your country (nothing to do with any roleplay countries though!). You can decide which side you take on them, or dismiss them. Depending on your decision, your nation's stats will change. For instance, ending voting will make your country more authoritarian and less politically free.

What is a region?
A region is a group of other nations like you grouped together, generally by interests or beliefs, but not always. You can chat with others, do roleplay and even rise to power inside your region, but you can leave one at any time.

How does the World Assembly work? How can I join?
The World Assembly is a way for people to pass laws to every nation which has joined. This can eventually change your nation's stats if you join, depending on if a law is passed. You can join and therefore vote by registering with your email (in your settings), and then applying to join through the World Assembly tab.
Also, joining allows you to endorse others and be endorsed. The person with the most endorsements in a region becomes the delegate (leader) of that region.

I keep hearing about raiding. What is it?
Raiding is basically where a group of people seize power of a region by endorsing one person until they become delegate. They can then pretty much do anything they want to the region, unless there is a founder to stop them. As dangerous as this is, it is unlikely to have lasting effects, as most of the time they just kick a few people, change some aesthetics and leave.

What are dispatches and factbooks?
Factbooks are a way of showing what your nation is like through text, and dispatches, like this one, are generally for sharing information easily.

How do I do nice pretty formatting in my factbooks and posts?
You will need to use BBcode, which is a type of formatting frequently used in forums. For example, to make something bold, put this:

[b]Your Text Here[/b]

For a full list, see this dispatch:

page=dispatch/id=330837/raw=1

Endorsements and delegates

First things first, endorsements. If you don't know, endorsements are a way of showing that you like another region's politics in a region (or to be friendly). The person with the most is the delegate (like a president) of the region. However, we do elections separate to this system, and so you need to endorse the elected delegate to keep them in power until the next election. Therefore, if you are in the World Assembly, please endorse the current delegate, Saint indopeland.

If you want to run for delegate, you must first be in the World Assembly. Then, announce your plan on the Regional Message board, make sure The democratic nation of unovia has put you down as running, and wait until the next election! The next one is due in January 2021, and they occur every 3 months.

Roleplay

Our region has plenty of roleplay going on, and it is great fun to join in. If you don't know, roleplay is basically where you roleplay as a country, real or fictional, and describe what's going on inside it. Our roleplay is set on future Earth in the year 2080, with alien invasions and intergalactic colonisation. You can play an Earth nation or a space-faring civilisation, it's up to you! To join in, telegram (message) Unified Empiricus. If you are confused or want to know more, ask around and read what others are doing. If you are thinking of getting involved or want to know more, I recommend that you read this handy guide by me.
page=dispatch/id=1399206

Chatter

The New World Union has frequent chatter on its message board which can sometimes seem quite random. This is fairly common, as our region is quite chatty. If you feel like joining in, you can. If you have no idea what they are talking about, you can simply ignore it. Generally, the first option will lead to you feeling part of the region faster, and it is recommended to join in if you want to.

Also, the wall of chat you will see when you first join can be quite daunting, especially if you join in the middle of a conversation or event. However, it's very easy to catch up by just reading the last few pages on the message board, or simply asking what's going on. Even if that fails, after a few weeks those conversations most likely will have finished, and you will be able to simply read newer ones.

Thank you for reading this guide, I hope that this has helped you get into the region. For more information, just ask on our regional message board, as we are all happy to help. For more detailed help, try asking either me, The democratic nation of unovia, The Unified American Federation, Gooutofhere, Unified Empiricus, the current delegate and anyone else who is frequently active. I hope you have a great time in the region, and I hope to see you posting some time soon!

It's 100% better than what we have at moment.
We should try it out and if necessary refine it.

While your statement is understood, and appreciated, that seems like the kind of statement that is made on the campaign trail.
It is, however, perhaps true. There are many different ways to make the situation better, if people desire it.

Very much agree with this. It looks good, and gets our point across. Refining will, necessarily have to occur at some point. I support a question about the posting.

Do you think we should redefine the Florida act ?
As this election talk is very early on in the current Administration.
It is unsettling for the region and causes unnecessary troubles. Which we can have much later on in the election cycle.

We should have an election timetable.
Then people can get ready for the election and
It gives the Administration time to govern and prepare for the election as well.

All this argumentative behaviour, some of which I admittedly have been a part of, such be put aside for the betterment of the region. Ultimately, only through the collaboration of peers and the unity that was existed in the region for many years can we achieve prosperity. I am sure the Right Honourable Amaabj has his flaws, some a lot more glaring than previous delegates, however we have barely given him the opportunity to show what he is capable of. Together, NWU!

Everyone has been part of argumentative behaviour at one point in the region or another.
One region I have been in before was constant
arguments, no role-play just arguments.
Long as it's constructive and for the betterment of the Region and not personal.
It's healthy.

I was considering implementing one. The election talk is way too early (we have 68 days until the final results are announced).
As the election commission, I think we need to address this. Before it becomes a problem.
I am going to work on one today and then we can discuss it through telegrams.

I never understood why election talk always started practically immediately after the election. Its a 90 day term, why would we even consider talking about the next one 17 days into the term? Makes no sense at all.

Hello NWU, I’m an ambassador from Thaecia, and here is our Monthly Newsletter.

THIS MONTH IN THAECIA

BY-ELECTIONS IN THE LEGISLATURE

This month several special elections were held for both chambers of Thaecia's bicameral legislature. In the House of Commons, The peoples caribbean union resigned after a recall attempt was mounted against him, and Republika poludniowej wyspy ksiazecej left the region, leaving two seats open, which were won by Dizgovzy and Asean nations. Shortly after, in the Senate, Snowflame resigned, and Pap sculgief won his seat in a landslide. Meanwhile in the House, Speaker Zanaana got into several successive fights with members of the House and the region over the pressure he applied to MPs with real-life committments to invest more time into NS. He resigned, and Dizgovzy was elected Speaker, while Antenion, the now-former Culture Minister, won the snap election for his seat. Emazia was then nominated to be the new Culture Minister.

A CHANGE IN RECRUITMENT POLICY

Also this month, the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Korsinia and Foreign Affairs Minister The Bigtopia, decided to stop the region's aggressive recruiting strategies officially used by the region in favor of a more laid back approach, which would allow for a broader and more active foreign affairs policy.

LATE NITE FESTIVAL

Named after the long, open conversations which typically take place on the Thaecian Discord late at night, the Late Nite Festival is coming to you tomorrow (August 7th) and running until August 16th. People from all across NS are welcome to come to this event organized by leaders in Thaecia, the East Pacific, Europeia, and more! Activities and games will be held such as Skribbl.io, AtWar, Secret Hitler, and Minecraft. We hope to see some faces from your region there, it'll be a lot of fun! Below is a statement from festival organizer Altys (Islonia on NationStates) inviting you all to come more cordially!

Remember last night's sky? That's right. On August 4th, for one night, your sky became a colourful mishmash. Sadly, yesterday night those beautiful colours had disappeared. Thinking it was a one-shot happening, your hype starts to go down. This evening you invited some friends to watch the 2nd season of the Umbrella Academy on Netflix, carefully muting your phone notifications to prevent anyone from spoiling you. As one of your friend asked to pause the episode for an urgent matter, your cat starts meowing at the patio door. Curious as you are, you decide to look at what she's meowing at. You stop marching 1m from the door. Your garden is illuminated in nine different colours. You open the door, get out the house and look at the sky. "Late Nite Festival" and the hundreds of stars are back! Before you can even think about what's up in here, another of your friend runs at you. She's been receiving countless notifications about some sort of happening one kilometer away. « Everyone's saying there's a festival tomorrow! And guess what, it's named 'Late Nite Festival'!! Just like what's in the sky.. wait.. did they really paint the SKY?! How?! » Intrigued by this, you and your friends, as well as a sizeable part of the metropolis NationStates decide to go to this mysterious festival.

CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUMS PASSED

In the same elections that saw Dizgovzy, Asean nations, Pap sculgief, and Antenion enter the legislature, several constitutional amendments passed their referendums, strengthening regional voting rights, reforming the impeachment procedure, and more.

REFORMS IN THE ROLEPLAY REALM

Roleplay staff have been hard at work reforming the Roleplay Realm, launching a new season the Nation RP, led by Brototh, and starting a brand new forum RP focused around the politics and government of Thaecia in a more realistic setting (led by Altys). Generally, foreigners are welcome to join both RPs, but must understand the rules and guidelines laid out by staff.

The democratic nation of unovia

The Gooutofhereans fleet arrived over Antarctica to avoid Gem entanglements and made it's way towards Unovia.
Picking up a faint signal in the sea, the Gooutofhereans send a ship down to investigate and find a suit of Unovian armour.
"It's a military armoured suit they use it for rescues as well." Said The Empress to her sister.
Eurus replied "I think that I can get working again and make a few improvements."
The Empress nodded and smiled " Let's get these Replicators to them and you can play with this. While we wait for them to
finish with them. You can play with this. Better had show the Unovians if do anything fancy though."
Her Sister grunted in reply as she took the suit to pieces and started to remake it with a frightening intensity.
"There's various military grade parts on the ship for the replicators. You can use them." The Empress said as looked at her sister in fascination. Her sister stopped to look up at The Empress in delight "Really?"

A while later, "Unovian control, This is the Culture fleet. We have brought the Industrial replicators for you to use."
