Welcome back

For those not on the Discord, with some help from Krimera, I have set up a #welcome-channel. It has a greeting and a quick description of what NationStates is. It will direct individuals to our region.

Accompanied with it will be an advertising message. This is to be sent out to areas that aren't familiar with NationStates, but are interested in roleplay.

Hopefully some good comes out of this.

In another dimension, I am still awaiting GV to respond to me with the appropriate credentials for the Bank Administration and the Arms Logs. Once this is done, I will begin our journey to the world beyond us.

Good evening all.

Congrats.

The Scalesburgian military has ramped up training once again for its troops. It hopes to reach troops to an elite status of Novus Lucidum within the coming months.

I never left, just haven't really been bothered to be active on the rmb.

Ministry of Infrastructure Nomination

Technically Arken should have already earned the position since nobody else has ran & it has been 2 days, however if possible I would like to run for the position.
I think Rilandse and Krimera both did a good job on the map, it was simple and it was what it was. I don't really think space is a good RP idea, a lot would have to change for that to be in place and the region would be a lot more complicated.

I am running in order to preserve the work Rilandse and Krimera have done on the map, keeping it simplistic however giving it a new feel. The map will be similar to how it has been before, however it is larger, easier to look at and in my opinion nicer to look at. Rilandse has posted the map I was making on the RMB already however for those who haven't seen it here is the current version.

The map is obviously incomplete, rivers on some continents haven't been added yet and some countries are missing. The islands next to ex-NHRR are one as I based it off of an old map version.
However the map will work the same as it did under Rilandse & Krimera with a few minor tweaks, as for Scaleburg's space idea I do not intend to go that far with the space idea but if I get the ministry there will have to be a discussion there.

Link I posted was the wrong image, proper sized one here.

In other news Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has bought the XFL.

It's not that my Space idea would interfere with the current map. Space would be a map in of itself, then each planet would have its own unique map.

It's multiple maps all catorgized under the idea of space. No change of the current world map.

Space is just an additional thing that we all can roleplay with, it isn't and won't be forced/mandatory. Your country can just denounce the idea of space travel and that's fine, I'm just talking about more maps beyond "our reach."

I admit I don't know/understand much of your idea, but I think multiple maps/planets within space would be a bit complicated. Countries being able to get into space at all would make it more complicated, unless you're just talking about a secondary map completely unrelated to the current one.

We could go with a registry using google spreadsheets. Perhaps I could construct some sort of website for this thing. It could have info on the planet classification system, the name of galaxy and the owner listed. Just some early thoughts what could be done that I have thought of in the past.

It wouldn't be complicated whatsoever. We're just putting space on a piece of paper as a visual aid.

The addition of space is what comes with the complications. The technology, the interactions in space, impact on normal events and so on.

Why do you think I took the job? I want the complications to tackle. It makes you think outside the box.

I don't mean it's a complicated task for you even though it is, I mean as a whole it will make the region more complicated. I don't think it's a good idea because adding space to the region just overcomplicates it. You couldn't make it opt-in unless you made it really shallow. It's going to impact normal RP in some shape or form, especially with the acceleration in technology to make the space idea work.

I'm well aware that I have a lot of work and adjusting to do.

Scalesburg wrote:I'm well aware that I have a lot of work and adjusting to do.

But is that a good thing? Is all of this adjusting going to make the region better?

Cauva wrote:But is that a good thing? Is all of this adjusting going to make the region better?

Yes.

The Arken wrote:Yes.

The addition of the vastness of space and changing from a mostly modern to sci-fi technology level making the region better is not something I imagine making this any more fun. Sounds like it would ruin the position the region is currently in with the format that is known to work.

We already have Sci-fi technology in the region.

But not space-age technology, Sci-fi is probably the wrong word to use.

Myself and a few others in the region had RPs involving space and exploration. Like FTL and the likes of it. Just that there never was a concrete system on how ships were made.

I've seen the thing with Anacodia and the AI, that kind of thing seems to have been more of a personal thing. A concrete system for it will make it involuntary, as I'm assuming "mapping out the planets" would lead to colonization that kind of thing seems like it would seep into other subjects. Like if nation A has a colony but they get invaded on the main planet what would happen there?

Rebalancing.
