Not positive...
The implied idea of democracy is that everyone's opinion is equal (with the one person, one vote doctrine). That's obviously... not reflected by reality, and ends up equating those who are well educated and well versed in politics with those who are dumb enough to genuinely believe stuff like "oh all the parties are the same anyway." So instead of rationally thought out worldviews being translated into government, you end up with random impulses, and usually tribalistic and illogical ones at that.
Democracy also generates the problem of that lot believing expertise is just another opinion, and not valuing it and deferring to it in a healthy way... i.e. stupid things like Brexit get voted for against all sensible advice by a majority who could only possibly lose out as a result.
Beyond even that, it generates short-sighted governance, as those elected only care about the span of time they're elected for, and playing up for potential re-election at whatever designated interval happens to exist.
Meh.
I want to like it, but an excellent argument against democracy is a conversation with the average voter.
Yeah i agree with both of you. Democracy fails because peoples votes are counted as one and even the most powerful person in the state has limited control over people and their decisions.
The average person would often not take there candidate into consideration and if the sides are nearly even, it can cause a split in the country and then in turn deteriorating the state. But like Kennedy said "Democracy is not perfect, but we have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in, to prevent them from leaving us." Communists and National Socialists are much worse.
Does the Delegate control raiding other nations and countries or does the director?
And also, how does it work?
not necessarily...there's plenty of ways that some democracy can be implemented to avoid power abuse. I could give some examples if you care enough to listen.
edit: I say SOME democracy because I recognize the massive flaws with traditional democracy as stated above
Also thx for the endorsement @Apellidor!
I believe democracy can work as long as the people are well educated and are informed and know about voting and how their vote affects the nation.
Hello There
The delegate has no independent political power in the STU. It also couldn't control raiding.
Raiding works by using the game's WA mechanics to seize control of delegacies in other regions. The game checks who has the most endorsements every 12 hours, so peeps move in seconds before each update. The STU is not a viable raid target for anyone, because I'm an active founder and the delegate role has no permissions.
So i have gotten this in my nation overview it but as far as i know i don't have a black market like at all. Holy Darchy Senlowau is ranked 187,031st in the world and 80th in Social Technocratic Union for Largest Black Market, with 37.8 billion Standard Monetary Units.
wth i just banned an aluminum mine and my weather went down
NS is like that sometimes
It truly is a weird and arbitrary statistics system...
Hello STU! How is everyone? Long time no see. I've been a little indisposed. Tell me what your favourite type of tea is! I've been drinking tea allllll morning.
Also a little reminder for those of you within the WA, when you receive endorsements from other WA people in our region it's a great idea to endorse them back! This way everyone can cash in o.o So please make sure you're endorsing all of our great WA people! Most importantly our Delegate, and our Games Dude who will be taking over as Delegate! So hop to it!
