It is simply preposterous that penguins should the symbol of a region calling itself South Pacific.

Well, you're really going to dislike our new, temporary flag...

I like the new flag. It would be better if the disk were plain.

Thanks. Yeah, you're probably right about the disk, good call.

I'm putting together a dispatch now of a bunch of variations on Dorig's above flag design. So this flag is just up in the meantime, just threw it up because I am quite fond of it.

Let me know if any of these variations look good to you.

(Den, there's non-penguin versions in there, too)

I like design 13. It's simple and elegant.

Even though I'm an ambassador, I'll weigh in :)
I like #9.

Have penguins, pigeons or petunias. However, the chosen shade of blue and the yellow looks a tad garish. 🤮

I will have none of your alliterative dismissals, thank you very much. But I'll see what I can do, color-wise.

I agree, I may be even more partial to the design with just the sun.

I will gladly accept all assessments, be they restless natives or strangers from a strange land.

(By the way, I thought I recognized your name, but couldn't place it until now...I am Wild Hunt in Middle Earth Roleplay. Apologies for the rude treatment of your emissary :P)

How generous, gracious and genial of you. I am grateful.

The current flag's cool

Densaner wrote:Yes, that was the regional flag the last time I was delegate. The blue is the Pacific, white represents peace / the equator, green the land and the stars the nations.

Lingang, I think. South Carolina via Arizona. 😒

My flag was pretty good. Historical now.

I'm liking either #9 or #11

Densaner, Rivierenland, and Iggly iggle

They're all amazing, but my favourites are 4 and 10.

On the subject of flags, I would like to know everyone's opinion on my country's new flag.

I think it is very unique, with the background and sun as a greyscale, and splashes of colour as the stripe in the middle.

Alright, I put up a variation of Dorig's design, but with a color palette hopefully less garish, Den. It is easily altered, so please let me know if you think anything should be changed.

Lingang wrote:My flag was pretty good. Historical now.

Yeah, I really your design. The shade of blue with the white was especially nice.

I think I'm going to put together a dispatch collecting as many historical South Pacific flags that I can find. If anyone has any saved, I'd love to see them. This is the only collection I know of:

I dig it. It's quite unique. The idea of a predominant greyscale flag but with a splash of bright color is a nice idea. Really looks like a prism refracting a rainbow beam through the field.

I think I prefer the pastel version of your flag, but this is a very cool variation, as well.

According to - viewtopic.php?f=15&t=15269, regional flags came in 2009. I’ve checked the Wayback Machine and the oldest flag, the picture of the beach that I uploaded goes back to a least April 2011 -

That's cool, thanks. Yeah, if you take that Wayback Machine info and that provided by the taijitu flag tool, that beach scene does seem to be the earliest recorded flag.

What was that Siorta falla like?

Also, because I seem to be incapable of stopping designing new flags, here's another I made (I recognize it's probably too busy for everyone's tastes to function as a regional flag, but I just wanted to show it off anyway because I really like the idea of the compass rose and it took a lot of work to make it):

Well it’s certainly the earliest flag I can remember. Not sure if it’s the first one ever though.

He was okay, he was Swedish. He was delegate for a while, I then overthrew him in a coup. It didn’t go down too well, but I still won the subsequent election. 🗳👍🏻

I’m glad there seems to be a concerted effort to preserve our history.

It would actually be nice if our region had its own official history book.

That would be quite cool. What would it look like, though? A dispatch that is sort of a chronology of major events? Not sure if you saw, but Johanneslanden significantly fleshed out that "Hall of Delegates" dispatch. That might function as a kind of spine from which to work off of.

That page is pretty great.

First: *makes note regarding keeping an extra eye on Den*

Looks like, at least, you had better taste in embassies than he did.

Also, shows a cool older flag of Dorig's:

Yes, a chronology of sorts. Briefs descriptions of the various time periods and events yeah, describing what certain Delegacies were like, the many raids, etc.

Ha Ha, that old thing. I made that back in 2003 or 2004 on Adobe photoshop when I was in high school. It is a nice design, but I don't care for the color palette.

My vote on the flags is #2, but I think the selection on teh whole is good all around. I less prefer the flags with more cartoon-y penguins in them, though.

Dorig

I also unseated Lep as delegate a while later, I de-endorsed him and he lost the job, he was in power past six months without an election. I didn't become delegate that time round.

Don't worry though. My days of illegally seizing power are long over. 😉

Ps. Just had another look at the Hall of Delegates. A number of the term dates, such as my illegal term that lasted 2 days, marked as running for nearly 12 months etc.

Thanks, I'll keep that variation in mind, I'll try it out now!

The colours have been made pastel.
