Eastwindian Arsenal: Our Weapons of War (MTRP)

Preface by Jack Gryphon

War is a common theme in history. Several times, man has fueled their bloodshed by rocks and crude spears to assault rifles and tactical nuclear weapons.

One thing, however, always rises above the bloody and gruesome nature of warfare. It is perseverance. Without it, even the most powerful weapon would be utterly useless and incapable to destroy the enemy.

If only all the men and women in this world were strong in the virtue of perseverance. Alas, the morbidity of warfare will fill even the most persevering heart with fear, sadness, and anger.

So I present to you the tools of our mighty nation. These weapons can dramatically alter the geopolitical landscape and leave a lasting effect which diplomacy sometimes lacks. My most favorite thing about these weapons? Unlike a soldier, a weapon has no feelings, for it is an inanimate object. No fear. No pain. No emotion. A remorseless killing machine is the best killing machine, for it is feared for its merciless nature. And also, weapons aren't as wishy-washy as politicians; they get the job done without whining or complaining.

Jack H. Gryphon

Supreme Leader Jack H. Gryphon.

Small Arms
The smallest component of the military. It would be useless without small arms since soldiers wouldn't be able to defend themselves without them.

Assault Rifles

Hannibal Weapon Systems M82

The M82 is a selective-fire bullpup assault rifle that fires 5.56*45mm rounds. It has three firing modes: semiautomatic, three-round burst, and automatic fire. It is quite ubiquitous in the Eastwindian military; it is not only cheap and easy to make, it is also very lightweight (5.5 pounds) and accurate. It has a decent range of 600 to 650 meters.

Development

In 1984, the Eastwindian Army needed a new assault rifle that can replace the already obsolete M16A4 rifle. Three major weapon companies: Hannibal Weapon Systems, Gryphon and Krueger Weapons Corporation l, and Jupiter Security competes for the replacement rifle.

Eventually, Hannibal's chief designer, Sydney Crow, submitted a highly efficient, yet cheap and very versatile design to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the military. 3 days later, the new assault rifle was dubbed the M82.

Original designs used to depict the M82 a standard rifle, almost like the AK-12. Then, a revised version was created before it was submitted to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Operational History

The M82 was first used after the Great Unification War of Eastwinds (1982-1983), and most recently, the ongoing war against terrorism.

Soldiers in the military enjoy using the M82, because of its lightweight material and good accuracy. Their only complaint is that it is very hard to clean the barrel, because it is hard to see inside.

Variants

M82A1: This is the most widespread version of the M82. It has a built in holographic sight and a muzzle brake.

M82SE A modified version of the M82, it has a built-in suppressor and only has two firing modes: semi and three-round burst.

M82 SOPMOD-II
A Special Operations Peculiar MODification version of the M82. Has a shorter barrel and room for many attachments.

Stahl Arms StA-52

The Stahl Arms StA-52 is a bullpup assault rifle used in the Eastwindian military. Similar to the M82, the StA-52 has a larger magazine, carrying 50 rounds instead of 30. It also has a larger type bullet, as it chambers 7.62 NATO rounds. The StA-52's advantage over the M82 is its fire rate. It shoots quicker at a whopping 955 rounds per minute. However, it is very inaccurate at very long ranges because of this.

Development

In 1999, the Eastwindian Arms Committee (EAC) announced that it would be interested to sign a contract for the production of a new standard assault rifle that has the capability of sustained fire and can carry a big magazine.
In July, Stahl Arms submitted its first design to the EAC: the StA-22.

At first, the design was turned down, because not only it was expensive, it was very bulky and inaccurate. It was designed to hold 75 rounds in a drum magazine, and it chambered 5.56 rounds instead of 7.62.

Stahl Arms revised the StA-22, making the magazine smaller, the rifle much lighter and less expensive, and dramatically improved the rifle's accuracy. Thus, the StA-52 was born.
