The Cermier Language

ЂД
Cermier

Cermier is the national language of Cermiersia and is spoken by nearly all of its citizens as either a first or secondary language. It the language traditionally associated with Cermiersians as opposed to Old Cermiersians and the Hussan. Though it has many regional dialects, the language has been formally standardized as Unified Cermier since 12 OE. Cermier is the language of government, and all people are required to speak it in such contexts with no translator provided (though, foreigners are an exception to the rule).

Letters and Symbols

Prior to the coming of modern Cermiersians, the Cermier language was mainly made out of glyphs. Though Old Cermiersian, spoken by the a group of the same name, remains this way, modern Cermiersian adds a few modifiers to the language, which makes the tongue more space efficient than its predecessor. The Cermier language has four positions for its glyph in its words: Starters start a word, Terminators end a word, Bridgers lay between Starters and Terminators, and Repeaters are Bridgers than can repeat themselves multiple times in a word. A word can have as many Repeaters and Bridgers between the Starter and Terminator glyph, as long as all Bridgers are unique.

Tenses

The Cermier language relies on modifiers to establish verbs. Cermiersian verbs are composed of a 'base' which contains the glyphs and 'adjusters' which change the meaning of the verb in line with the speaker's intent. Most adjusters either adjust prior to the verb or before the terminator, though there are a few exceptions. Simple Past tense does not have a modifier.
