Declaration of the War Measures Act

----------
House of Assembly
15:26

The Prime Minister shakes the hand of the producer and bows to greet the rest of the Gorbastani Broadcasting Network's crew.

"I'd like to thank all of you for coming on such a short notice. I'm sure the higher ups have already discussed what Scenario W is, correct?"

The crew all nods silently.

"Very well, may we get started here?" A makeup artist polishes up some foundation on his face as he approaches his seat. Carefully sitting down, the framing was perfect. It was the classic Prime Ministerial mahogany office. His left and right flanked by the large Gold and Green stripes stood atop two pedestals.

The camera crew was ready, waiting for the signal to start. The producers holds up her hand. "Are you ready, Elliot?"

"Ready as we'll ever be."

"My friends, it has come to our attention that the Nation of Kurikia and their overseas territories has become a threat to the sovereignty of an average Yastreovakian citizen.

The annexation of Republoslavia and many other smaller nations has doomed the creation of a diverse political and cultural landscape. The Government of Gorbastan and her widespread allies of Valsora deem this as an abhorrent encroachment on Yastreovakian independence.

The Government of Gorbastan, with powers bestowed upon us by Her Majesty Queen Pauline III, hereby enacts the War Measures Act.

You're wondering what this means for the average citizen.
1. All Gorbastani citizens that are above the age of majority are required to carry a small caliber weapon at all times.
2. The National Rationing Program will be enacted.
3. All cities with the exception of Torselchester and provincial capital cities will now have an enforced curfew and lights out from 20:00-6:00.
4. Special powers has been designated to the Gorbastani National Mounted Police. The suspension of Haebus Corpus and Corpus Delicti. The GNMP also has the power to detain anybody they deem suspicious.
5. Formation of the Wartime Welfare and Commerce Commission to halt hyperinflation and control the prices of: the housing market, necessary goods, and materials.
6. Creation of the Bunker Regulatory Office, all Home bunkers are to be inspected and certified for an emergency situation.
7. School children living in densely-populated Urban areas are sanctioned to be relocated to the countryside.
8. All citizens who reach the age of majority must serve in the Gorbastani Armed Forces.

On top of that, we wish to notify the International community that all exports whose primary destination is Kurikia will be destroyed by our submarine fleet. Import ships from Kurikia will also be destroyed with no hesitation.

The Gorbastani foreign Noruest Arms Manufacturing Facilities will have increased quotas and new production licenses have been released to the following nations:
Shavara
Sminishia
Osterreich und ungarn
The Dancia and Istaria of Danelaw Scandinavia
The Goin' Silent of Zukchiva
Greater felter
These Production Facilities are now able to produce the G8 tanks and a whole set of explosives, munitions, and other military vehicles.
We also call upon these following nations for commercial or military support in the Gorbastani war effort.

All Kurikians will be detained. This includes former citizens and relatives of Citizens of Kurikia. Furthermore all travel to Kurikia is banned until further notice.

The Government of Gorbastan would also like to ask for support for our new-found ally, Kianhua.

This is an official war declaration of Gorbastan.

Je vous remercie.
Force et Solidarité."

And most importantly it will be a show of dominance. And what a show it will be.

I mean, I could start putting sanctions to the aggressive puppet of Northern Gushanzi due to their aggressive actions, but I'm not really looking forward to an armed conflict

I will not become a nation who's economy is dependent on war in order to be stabilized.

I would've unsuppressed if you just edited the spoiler in but okay lol

Anyway good post. I'm seeing clear factions starting to form, and I'm looking forward to this war fest.

That makes sense.

Either way, keeping neutral might not be the best for business. If you take a clear side, that side will respect you and look to you for economic support. You help them win, even just by selling stuff, then you become their friend. You become their friend, big ole prosperity ensues.

I speak for Shavara San Sierra here, I'm not sure sanctions would work on Kianhua since you don't trade.

Don't correct me! I have broken logic.

Oh? I trade with every nation, dummy. Siqia is the bread basket of the world. Free trade for the win.

Actually, the best for business would to be neutral, so you could sell guns and weapons to both sides. If either side wins, then you could trade with them more than the other. All that matters is who's winning.

Time to Escalate this ten fold

While it may seem that way, neutrality could be a sign to them that you're not actually someone the winning side can rely on. Which means, you won't be the first person they turn to when they need economic support.

IC:
High command military officers listen in as if to hear any background noises or the such. While also looking into files and foreign agencies about the voice and the Line “The Blood Bird has cometh.” Religious and historical documents are being scanned cross country. The President is moved and secured to a safer location as the nation begins for a possible invasion or terrorists attack. Police, Secret Police, and Intelligence Agencies begin cracking down on the law and become more influential.

OOC: Yeah. It was a random ship that was picked off and used as the bait. The info dump on the bombs was mainly to show that the nukes were most likely acquired illegally. Such as how pirates acquire weapons.

IC:Small boats wash ashore, the drivers executed, on all the boats a bloody Phoenix is painted. It’s talons clutching severed limbs. It’s beak curled into a smile. A message is left on notes pinned to the center of these marks: The Grans will burn. The Tacos will bleed. The Grans will suffer until the Tacos are dead.

Meh. When your options for trade are as open as they can be, then losing one trade partner is just the cost for economic superiority.

Then I trade with your black market. Also, any trade is welcomed. With our cheep labor and low sanction rate, we'll be the manufacturer for cheep products the world over!

Just ignore our human rights abuses. What abuses? There are none here - quit hallucinating and get back to trading with us.

With the declaration of war set up by the Gorbastani regime against the Kurikian Empire, the Socialist Republic of Sminishia, having a history of the former USR attempting to conquer the Mabryn area, sets up a declaration of war against Kurikia as well.

Mobilized forces, including ground forces, artillery and aircraft, are ready to defend Kurikia and go on an offensive whenever Gorbastan says so. the 57th Squadrons are ready to intercept any enemy aircraft.

OOC: I know, I know, I can't fight a war with two nations, but know this: San Sierra didn't actually declare war, they are only defending the nation of Kianhua from being invaded (I have F'd up logic, don't @ me), while Sminishia, always feeling threatened by Kurikia, actually declared war.

Where you are the bread basket of Valsora, we are the #1 oil producer. How about we initiate an oil-bread trade agreement with low tariffs?

One trade partner? There's a lot of nations involved here. A lot of potential for gain...or loss.

Anyway, I'm just an observer. I merely think it would not only be interesting from an OOC standpoint but also beneficial from an IC standpoint to take a side.

Mount Baekdu Forest, 10 km from the border

Platoon 532A4 arrives at the cliffside near the forest at the foot of Mount Baekdu. Lieutenant Ryu and his sergeants deliberate.

Lieutenant Ryu: Sergeant Kwok, where are we.
Sergeant Kwok: pulls out tablet and map We are here, just near the cliffs outside this part of the forest. About 300 m NW from here is the secret abandoned cave network the general told us about. This can be our camp and hideout.
Sergeant Yeo: Sir, the surrounding vegetation can give us enough cover.
Private Yang: running down from cliffside Sir, we got company, 2 km due East.
Sergeant Deong: Looks like we need to move sir. I suggest we plan when we get to the cave network.
Lieutenant Ryu: Hold on. Kwok, do we have an alternative hideout in case this doesn't work?
Sergeant Kwok: Well, we have the Zaoming Pass which contains a lot of vegetation and cover as well as some caves. But it will be a long hike, around 1 km due north.
Lieutenant Ryu: And this is all from historical information, some espionage, and the geological sattelites?
Sergeant Kwok: Yes sir.
Lieutenant Ryu: F*ck...scratches head God be with us, let's go. Squad 1, take rear. Squads 4, 3, take flanks, Squad 2, you're fragging.
Sergeants: Yes sir.

The Kianese troops quietly traverse through the forest, knowing that they are in deep enemy territory. In his mind, Lieutenant said to himself

"This is so stupid. Too damn stupid, it seems to work."

When they got to the cave network, it was as the info described it. A small cave network that used to be a mineshaft, the entrance covered in moss, grass, bushes and large trees.

Lieutenant Ryu: Squad 1, sweep the area. The rest, scatter and guard. If you see any resistance, do not engage.

Sergeant Kwok and his squad enter the small cave the size of a door. There were some stone steps as they went down. Then, they reached this seemingly large hall. They lit a few lamps and the hall was quite big, but not tall. The soldiers' heads were close to hitting the ceiling.

Corporal Myeong: Hey, Nam. Weren't you like uhh history nerd or something?
Private Nam: Hell yeah, I was.
Sergeant Kwok: Mind giving us some insight at what we are looking at?
Private Nam: ummm looks through the items present at the tables and chairs of the large hall. This looks like a coal mine from the 1940s. Not exactly good in safety standards for a mine, but good nonetheless.
Private Sang: Wow, you finally did something good for once. smirks
Private Nam: Oh, f*ck you.

The squad's laugh echoed across the hall.

Sergeant Kwok: Alright, Private Sang, tell Lieutenant that this main hall is safe. The others, split into two and go through the shafts. Stay together, comms isn't good down here. Beware of trip wires or traps.

The squad splits and ventures into shafts.

Private Sang: Lieutenant, sir.
Lieutenant Ryu: Yes, private?
Private Sang: the main hall here is safe. More than big enough for all of us to stay and set up our equipment.
Lieutenant Ryu: on comms Squad 4, set up inside.

Squad 4 gets inside the cave.

Lieutenant Ryu: Squad 2, get a scout team to high ground, check on our enemies.
Sergeant Yeo: Yes Sir.

The two scouts go up the hillside on top of the cave which was still covered by large trees.

OOC, I could have written the declaration better, but I've been wasted by the Levantine wars and a previous post I wrote in the Shavara account.

Deal! Any oil is welcomed - helps the economy grow faster.

Also, as in "breadbasket", we mean the largest place for business opportunity. Looking it up on google, I think I've got it's meaning wrong
