The Great Chili Regional Message Board

ZOCOM wrote:Hector couldn’t look any prouder in this moment, the sheer level of running away from his own problems was nearly as advanced as his own. What a wonderful adopted son Aiden is. “You really will be a wonderful member of my family, my brother’s gonna love meeting you.” He says wiping fake tears from his eye.

Akina scowled over at the very unhelpful reincarnator before focusing back on Aiden, standing over him as she moved into the room. She thought about her options, considering what just happened shouting at him would be what he’s avoiding… She really should just do that. But it won’t get him up, at least not in the short term.

Or she could play things in a more interesting way.

The Oni woman let out a sigh, one of frustration and theatrics. “Oh, I suppose with Aiden sleeping I’ll just have to find some other strapping man to help poor me with the odd jobs that need doing and prove themselves to my mother.”

Aiden continued to lay there in his very loud, very fake snoring. Neither Hector's words nor Akina's movement to stand over him makes him so much as flinch. That is, until the key words 'other strapping young man' leaves her lips. An unmistakable twitch in Aiden's face gives away that her words are working, and the pause in his fake snoring as she says 'prove themselves to my mother' reinforces it. "....that's cheating."

ZOCOM wrote:“A strange request, it isn’t like we’re holding you here.” Duncan says with an amused smile. “Of course you can tell your family, the Citadel isn’t a secret. In fact we work with several towns and villages along and around these mountains.”

The chapter here was only established some years ago but they work closely to help those around the Lullian Shadow Forest against Frae and other kinds of monsters. Their weapons and armour reflect that.

"Thank you...I didn't know if this place was a secret or not, I thought it might be since my family hasn't heard of it. I'll be right back, er...Miss Walter?"

"Just Colleen, is fine." She says with a gentle laugh. First impressions and apparent bullheadedness aside, Nilin doesn't seem like a bad person.

"Colleen then..." With that she jogs off, out of visual site behind one of the buildings, but through aura her actions could still be shown. She's focusing intensely on a little orb she's forming in her hands, assumedly the message she's preparing to send to her family. Not a technique the templars are aware of, not even Duncan, sending messages through aura isn't exactly something they had any need for so they aren't taught. But appearantly there is a method for it. After a minute or so she reaches her hands to the sky and holds steady, aiming straight up, before the orb shoots into the sky and flies off through the clouds towards the Southwest. With the message sent she returns to Colleen and, with a hint of hesitance considering the events that led up to this, smiles at her guide as the duo begin Colleen's tour of the Citadel and its ground.

I may have forgotten about the zombies.

I know I did

Synnadine wrote:With Zack's consent to be asked increasingly person questions, not about himself but about his still missing brother, the Second Princess begins her questions. One at a time, marking each one down in a data pad she has on hand. There's a lot of generic questions, but there's many hypothetical questions as well. Not every question is obvious in how the answers would shape an AI, but there is undeniably a method to it. No doubt an altered one at that, since the desired subject isn't the one actually being questioned.

"What is he passionate about?"
"What motivated him in his personal life or career?"
"Two people are in danger of losing their life. An adult you know and might be able to save, and a child you don't but you could save without fail if you act quickly. What do you believe your brother would do?"
"Did he believe that evil is part of human nature, or is it something we learn?"
"When a situation was exceptionally stressful, did he remain calm?"
"Would you consider your brother to be an organized or disorganized person."
"A long term project he has been working on failed spectacularly. Would he start over, or would be abandon the project?"
"Did he have any daily routines, or personal 'rituals' of sorts that you could predict he'd do before he did it?"
"When he was conversing, was he generally the one to approach others or did others have to approach him?"

The questions went on, and on, and on. The Zoconian kind is barraged with hundreds of them and each one must be answered from his brothers perspective. You don't have to actually answer the examples I made if you don't want to I just thought it would be cool to put some there XD Eventually the questions stop, and a satisfied Rineiya stands up and offers her hand. "Thank you for your participation. I'm sorry if some of those questions were emotionally challenging for you. This isn't a perfect profile, a lot of the standard questions weren't the sort that a third party could answer for someone. But with the pre-existing brain scan on hand Doctor Ryleina should be able to accurately fill in any gaps."

"That's contentment you're feeling. A sense of peace and comfort to put you at ease, a subtle sense of happiness but not a strong one. Don't forget this feeling. It's your first emotion." Her hand remains gently against the Black Heart, her honeyed tone speaking towards Olly and Olly alone as if they were the only two in the entire world. Her cohorts from Synnadine remain silent, not even remotely phased by what's happening. Unsurprisingly they are familiar with this display of extreme motherliness coming from her.

When prompted with the questions, Zack and the scientists did their best to answer honestly and to the best of their abilities. Zack answered from the heart and what he recalled from conversations, though keeping things he should not know to himself.

<- - - - ->

>What was he passionate about?

Zack - His efforts to uplift our kingdom, even when he was younger I watched him always tinkering with machines that always seemed out of place. He's uh.. Been like that even before I was born apparently.

Dr Olaris - His need to advance common knowledge. For as long as I've known him, ever since he came to the Academies in Aevyrus.

Dr Setta - I'd call it an obsession really. But he couldn't stand being in a medieval society... He was like a man possessed, his need to innovate surpassed that of most Dwarven Paragons.

Dr Algernon - Oh, anyone can tell you that he's passionate about innovation. The man couldn't sit down long enough to do anything without trying to solve some of the biggest issues of our societies. Man couldn't rest... Makes sense though considering what happened to him and his mother.

<- - - - ->

>What motivates him in his personal life or career?

Zack - He's never really covered that with me. He just says "I have to." like it was deeply personal.

Dr Olaris - From what I was told his mother, the First Queen, died while he was very young, complications during the birth of his sister. Preventable ones if we had what we did now. That stuck to him, understandably. And I think he developed something of a fixation on the nature of life, both natural and artificial because of that...

Dr Setta - Knowledge, that was what motivated him. The boy was veracious for it. Why do you think he didn't want to talk to any of ya? We're sat on a gold mine of alien data. He'd die for it rather than give it up.

Dr Algernon - His family. Sure he loved- Loves the strange and the outlandish, seeing a beauty to it too, but I was there when he heard of William's passing. He shed a a tear. The tyrant was a monster but it was his baby brother that he mourned, not the tyrant.

<- - - - ->

>Two people are in danger of losing their life. An adult you know and might be able to save, and a child you don't but you could save without fail if you act quickly. What do you believe your brother/he would do?

Zack - I think... He'd pick the child.

Dr Olaris - Knowing him... He'd pick the child. He was always about making sure the next generation was better of than the last.

Dr Setta - That idiot would pick the kid. Not that he viewed adults as disposable. Depends on who the adult is I think.

Dr Algernon - Hmm... Only a chance? I think he would still choose the adult and mourn over the child in private. It is our duty to make a future possible for the children, we cannot do that if we are dead.

<- - - - ->

>Did he believe that evil is part of human nature, or is it something we learn?

Zack - Neither, and both. He believed, especially with my brother the Tyrant, that everyone has the potential for evil as equally as it can be learned. There is potential... No one is born evil unless done deliberately.

Dr Olaris - I believe he would say it may have been part of our nature. Not just humans but all life. And it was up to us to resist such evil.

Dr Setta - Hah, I don't think he thought too much about that.

Dr Algernon - Oh... Evil... Watching his younger brother descend into what he became... I think that conflicted him. He never believed that evil was part of us, but William made him think it was possible.

<- - - - ->

>"When a situation was exceptionally stressful, did he remain calm?"

Zack - Yes. He was rather adept at staying calm under pressure. So much so that I often wondered if anything scared him...

Dr Olaris - I believe so. Some people tend to call him cold for being able to be calm in the face of a tragedy.

Dr Setta - I was there beside him when he found the Athailian ship, I was there to see the accident. The boy was sheared in bloody half by a collapsed beam and managed to calm down the scholars that were with us. The boy was nothing but the torso up and he talked down panicked men and woman... Yes. I know he was.

Dr Algernon - Oh he was quite good at dodging stress haha. I believe he refused to think it existed most days. He was rather unhealthy about it...

<- - - - ->

>Would you consider your brother/prince to be an organized or disorganized person

Zack - *Looking to Overload* Well... I think it would be best to call it chaotic order. There is a certain flare of organization but I wouldn't call it clean.

Dr Olaris - Oh definitely organised. He was quite methodical with how he did things. Unless something particularly distracted him from his work.

Dr Setta - Prince John? Organised? The boy was chaotic. But then again that might just be because his head ran at a million miles a minute. He'll have solved several things and already be moving on to the next problem.

Dr Algernon - Oh he was quite organised. It's just that not many understood his method of doing it. He tended to organise things in a 3D sense, having a web of problems and doing things in an odd sequence to fix and deal with multiple issues at once.

<- - - - ->

>A long term project he has been working on failed spectacularly. Would he start over, or would be abandon the project?

Zack - Hah. You should ask for the files on Overload's creation. That's basically a love letter to picking up the molten pieces and marching right back in.

Dr Olaris - Oh he would start over. He's never abandoned a project unless he saw no other way.

Dr Setta - The boy's as stubborn as an Armosuar. He'd never abandon a project willingly. For the sake of stone he redid Overload about 20 times just to get that clunky first prototype body running. Before the little bastard ran away. It was back to the drawing board then too. He had a brother to the little sod half finished before Overload came back in time for the civil war.

Dr Algernon - Abandon a project? Hah.. He'd sooner pray. That man didn't know how to abandon a project.

<- - - - ->

>Did he have any daily routines, or personal 'rituals' of sorts that you could predict he'd do before he did it?

Zack - Rituals? Well... Yes actually. On occasion I'd see him tear off the corners of papers, crumple it and toss the little ball over his shoulder when he was agonising over something. And there was his morning coffee, never went a day without one I think.

Dr Olaris - A routine or ritual? Well yes he had several. When he was reading something he didn't like he would tear the corners of the pages and throw them over his shoulder, said it was to ward off a headache later or something to that degree. Then there was his coffee.

Dr Setta - Boy loved his coffee. That much I know.

Dr Algernon - He had a personal ritual that I always found odd during out time working on Overload. After he awoke and left his chambers he would always kick back against the door he left through with his heel. He always did it. Always. He never explained why.

<- - - - ->

>When he was conversing, was he generally the one to approach others or did others have to approach him?

Zack - I'm not sure... If he sensed something was wrong with someone he knew then he would approach them, or if he needed something done he would. Other than that he would let people approach him.

Dr Olaris - Mm. He was always someone that would wait for others to come to him in my experience.

Dr Setta - Depends on when he's had his coffee honestly.

Dr Algernon - Now that is a fair question... From experience he would rather allow people to come to him, being a more reactive person than anything.

<- - - - ->

The group would continue on and on as they answered Rineiya's questions. Though the scientists always allowed the King to answer first before giving theirs. The questions were targeted towards the young King of course but having the answers of the scientists adds depth that is sorely needed to more accurately recreate the lost Prince. And too bad you likely read the whole lot after reading this because it was the largest paragraph, if so, the game, if not then I have still won. Hate me if you will but the battle is mine, senpai.

After it was all done, Zack smiled to the second princess... It was a rather mentally taxing process but he was glad it was done. "Nono, it's fine. It's for a very selfish but worthwhile cause afterall." Joked the young king, using humour to deflect from the fact that this was a rather emotionally probing.

A small silence followed Dr Ryleina's words to Olly before he repeated one of her words, a way to acknowledge it for himself perhaps. Doing as she advised. Making sure he won't forget it. "Contentment..." His tone was small, introspective. Definitely different from his usual way of speaking... It was odd. "This will take some getting used to. Actually feelings... But it's... Nice."

Wabacha wrote:Samantha centers Heimrich and pulls him quickly away from his thoughts. She always has that effect on him, something he will be eternally grateful for. Though he does catch out of the corner of his eye Samson eyeing the two of them. He almost forgot they have to keep up appearances. Heimrich covers his mouth with a fist like he's clearing his throat and directs Samantha's attention to Samson with his eyes. That was a close one, Heimrich thinks to himself, unaware that Samson had already deduced the fact they have some sort of relationship.

The discussions between Samantha and Samson regarding the potential Whiterose involvement in the twin wars is something Heimrich stays out of, not trusting his crassness to not say the wrong thing. Diplomatic matters are something that is way outside his comfort zone. Though luckily, this Forgotten attack seems to at least have convinced Samson that their involvement would be the best for everybody. Though not his final call to make. "Is that something that we can talk to her about now?" Heimrich dares speak, uncertain if it's a faux pas. Even if it is, time is of the essence with both Forgotten and William's forces still terrorizing Zocom. The faster they can come to terms and get to work, the better for everyone.

It would normally be a faux pas for an unknown foreigner like him to weigh in like this, but Samson recognises Heimrich’s ability and his connection to Samantha meant that he at least had a chance to weigh into the conversation. Samson didn’t disapprove and Heimrich was right of course, this could hardly wait.

“We can, she is likely finishing off what remains of the Forgotten Dragon’s brood near our estate. It appeared and erected the barrier dome to try and wipe us out after we had found it, it was going to storm into the elven kingdom.” Clarified Samson. “Duchess Cross I believe you should be able to sense the portal nexus to Lilydale from here, yes?”

Samantha looked surprised for a moment before shaking her head. “I’ve never been to Lilydale so tapping into the magical network would be tricky… And I’m rather out of practice.” She says as she messed with her clothing, doing so because her portal magic was her strongest school of magic. Admitting this was tough. “I could form a portal above Lilydale though.”

“I would rather not frighten the civilians there thinking it was another incursion. Instead I will lead you to Lilydale, if you are both ready to travel?” Samson asked.

The head of the Whiterose family must be quite capable herself if she has been holding back the rest of the Forgotten. They can only hope that they can convince her to join with the rest of Zocom in pushing back against the Forgotten and William together. The sooner the better, even if they can't take the easy route for a good reason. "Ready whenever you are. Mister- Uh- Sir Whiterose." He has no idea how to speak to nobility, though Samson obviously sees why he's so comfortable speaking to Samantha despite her also being a noble. The difference in confidencd between the man in the middle of battle and social situations is astounding. It'll be for the best if Samson and Samantha do most of the talking.

Wabacha wrote:"The faceless man can move as fast as I can, without needing to worry about getting tired. It'll be up those stairs too far quicker than we would," Ezekiel explains to Brandon.

"Keep moving towards the south. That's where the box was heading," Hayes remarks. His eyes were no longer yellow, taking a break from using the Doumi's power now that they are far from where they were potentially being tailed. Their dual plan remains the same. Head towards stonehenge, while at the same time heading towards whatever group was detaining the cultists. One route for answers, and one route for safety. With [Hardest Way Possible], both paths were able to be taken at the same time. And it's a lot more likely now with the barrier dropping that the military would be moving in. Clara would be much safer with them versus running about a Foundation base, that's for sure. Hayes takes rearguard, his eyes flickering yellow every few seconds as he makes sure there isn't any chance of them being tailed. Can't be too careful when dealing with an invisible enemy.

“You are pretty nimble… I wouldn’t be surprised if your stand isn’t halfway up those stairs already. Does Hamon make you faster…?” Brandon knew precious little of the strange man’s other power. He felt like he understood how [Hardest Way Possible] worked pretty well, being someone who can create Stand-like beings himself.

Clara noticed that Hayes was using his ability every so often when she would peer back to him as they walked. She wondered if he should be pushing himself like this, then again she didn’t really know how his ability worked… So for all she knew he could afford to do this.

“So, Clara. Now that we actually have a moment, do you recognise or know if your dad ever mentioned someone who can create pink cubes of energy?” Brandon asked as he kept to the front of the group while Clara herself chilled in the middle.

“Mm? Oh, no I never saw a cube like that before. I don’t remember my dad ever mentioned someone with a power like that either… Sorry.” Clara sounded somewhat down by that, not that she could help it.

None of them could. The owner and creator of that cube wasn’t exactly a local that they would know of. Probably.

“Nah, you’re fine. I just don’t want to blindly trust the cubes even if they’re savin people. Y’know?” Brandon says back, trying to keep the girls spirits up as he has his Guardian’s at his side while they continue to walk. An exasperated sigh and huff whistles and growls through clenched teeth before bemoaning this crap. “Just when I thought I had a decent grip on the kind of weirdos that live in the woodwork of this sector… An entire cult's worth and more come up through the basement. And one of them is standing behind us.” Clearly meaning Hayes with that last bit.

With how swift Ezekial’s stand can be it would take nearly no time at all for the Stand capable of using Hamon itself to climb the winding staircase to the surface. Reaching the top/basement floor he would find an inactive airlock between said staircase and the actual emergency exit that led to a hatch to the surface. The hatch itself opened up a hole in the grass near Stonehenge, an inconspicuous hatch like this out in the open? There’s no way someone wouldn’t have questioned it… Though it can be presumed that there’s some psychic trickery at play.

Once [Hardest Way Possible] was topside it wasn’t alone. There were two others there.

One was a tall and slender man in a flowing brown overcoat, black slacks and suspenders, boots and a grey chequered shirt underneath the coat. He did wear a brown rimmed hat but the Stand couldn’t focus on the man’s face… It was… Difficult too. Like it and Ezekial didn’t want to see the face even if they were trying to.

The other was a middle aged man that he could see dressed in a battered grey business suit with a white shirt under it, one that had a resemblance to Clara though his face was more angular and gruff than her own, same dark brown hair even if he wore it short and spiky and almost uniform, but different coloured eyes with an entirely different feel to them. They were disciplined, steeled, and trained on the Stand.

Both men were undoubtedly looking to the Stand.

[Hardest Way Possible] and Ezekial could tell in a heartbeat, Stand Users have a knack for knowing other Stand Users after all… The Stranger whose face was hard to focus on was a Stand User for sure.

"Hamon breathing brought me to a higher level of energy and athletics, yes. The Faceless Man moves at the peak of my abilities. Precisely why I fear Cassian getting his hands on [Hardest Way Possible]. I can't even imagine what he'd be able to do with it if he stole my Stand." While his ability to keep an eye on their surroundings isn't as heightened as Hayes or Brandon's summons, Ezekiel does his part to look out for anything out of the ordinary.

Hayes is being quiet back there, focused elsewhere rather than on the group's chatter.

"It's certainly not a Stand," Ezekiel speaks on the subject of the pink cubes. "I would have recognized it."

____________________

A short while later the Faceless Man finishes its trek up the staircase, finding the path blocked by the exit hatch. It's still locked shut, meaning no one else had traveled through here yet, but also that it can go no further. The Faceless Man may be able to walk and climb, but that is where its ability to interact with the world ends. It exists in a mirrored world of its own, equal in all ways except that Ezekiel is on the other side. The world's themselves cannot change, such as opening a door or picking up an object. Ezekiel will have to swap places with the Faceless Man, taking its place and the Stand ability his.

Recognizing this, Ezekiel informs the others. "It has reached the exit, it's blocked by a hatch. I will have to switch places in order to open it. It's best I go alone, to limit the risk." With their varied ways in telling him to be careful Ezekiel begins to lose his features, steadily becoming more and more a green framework of a human before disappearing entirely. Back in the facility Ezekiel takes hold of the hatch and unlocks it, and climbs through.

As soon as he peeks his head through he sees that he is not alone. Two men, quite varied in appearance. He can't focus on the face of the first, which makes the second draw his attention . He and Clara bear a striking resemblance. And both are Stand Users.

This gives the Spaniard one important piece of information. While the chance of these two being members of Cassian's gang are possible, disguised as someone close to Clara to lure them out, neither of them could be Cassian. That vast spirit power that he possessed would overwhelm his senses, and he wouldn't have noticed the presence of Stand Users. Cassian isn't here. That gives him options.

He cautiously scours the horizon before Ezekiel fully opens the hatch and climbs out, before striking a pose with a finger pointed towards Marcus. "You have a look of a person I've been searching for. You wouldn't happen to know a little miss that this whole mess is about would you?"

Wabacha wrote:"Hamon breathing brought me to a higher level of energy and athletics, yes.

Moments before Ezekial opened the hatch

Arriving at Stonehenge, the secret facility buries far beneath this ancient druidic site, both the Strange and Marcus stand before the old stones. Marcus went to look for a way below before he was stopped with an outstretched arm barring his way.

"No, we'll wait here. We'll get a visitor shortly, one from your daughters group." The Stranger clarified as he picked a small notebook from his overcoat, flicking through the pages before landing on the one he needed. Showing Marcus the page he wanted. A pencil sketch of Ezekial taking up the entire small page of the notebook. "A stand User like you and I."

Marcus looked to the page, taking in the appearance of the man thinking he would recognise them... But alas he drew a blank. "Must be a foreigner... I know most of England's Stand Users."

"He is a Spaniard, originally on a quest to hunt for the Stone Masks, though I do not know if the Foundation branch here left any that aren't now in containment. Back to the Masks, he is the one you acquired several months ago." The Stranger clarified.

"What?" Marcus couldn't believe it. This man was here for the mask he acquired? The mask was stolen and presumably still missing unless Brandon kept his word. "That's surprising... I got my hands on that damn thing so I could destroy it. Funny that someone else showed up looking to do the same.[/i]"

-Shortly after this exchange would be when Ezekial would appear from the secret hatch into the Facility.-

Marcus couldn't believe the accuracy of the sketch. Moreso it looks like this man was asking if he knew Clara. He gave a confirming nod and stepped forward but wasn't sure what to make of the pose... Though it felt natural for some reason. "If you mean my very opinionated girl, Clara. Then yes. I'm her father, Marcus. Marcus Torvid. Do you need me to prove it?"

"You could ask Clara the name of Marcus' Stand. Cassian never had the opportunity to steal it because he was too focussed on Clara." The Stranger interrupts as he looks to Ezekial.
