Operation Southern Wall part 2.
Northern outskirts of Monterry, Mexico.
Staging area Alpha, Highway 85, 0600.
Private James Miller, Citizens Militia Special Operations.
Role: Radioman assigned to squad B of UFT regular Army group A.

Miller sat on his cot heavily and started to unlace his boots when an officer came in and asked for him, Miler followed as ordered and was taken to a line of armored Toyota痴 and a few humvees. There he was led to the second to last humvee in the column and was ordered to wait there. After a few minutes of boredom Major Johnson walked to the humvee and said, 鄭lright Miller get in and shut up.
Miller still very confused did what was ordered of him and sat in the front seat of the truck, as soon as he sat down the column of vehicles threw up dust as they drove out of the defended staging area and into the wild darkness beyond.

Johnson spoke loudly as they drove, 的 know I gave you a hard time today and worked you hard, but CM (Citizens Militia) or not- you have to put in the extra work like the rest of us. As Miller nodded the major continued, 的知 sure you致e noticed we are lacking in numbers in this operation, that is because in reality we are actually a distraction.
Miller quickly asked, 鉄ir, what do you mean distraction? Major Johnson replied, 展hile it is true the UFT has been planning this expansion from day one, North Mexico is not the main objective. We are to put pressure on the Desert Raiders as we purposely and slowly travel south along highway 85 towards Mexico City. Intelligence believes their headquarters is within the city and what we致e been dealing with is just a small expansionary force.

Miller took all this information in and said, 鉄o we are just a small force surrounded by a nation of enemies... and we池e supposed to capture a raider capital? Major Johnson smiled a bit and replied, 添ep pretty much, we have been leaving a skeleton crew along the highway to fortify and defend it no matter what, but by the time we reach the capital our numbers will be low to say the least. Miller started to sweat and took a look of fear to his face. Johnson saw this and sighed, 泥on稚 worry private it ain稚 as bad as it sounds, by the time we make it to the capital a detachment of heavy Walkers will be on our heels and ready to support us in the final attack!

Miller looked out into the darkness of the desert surrounding them and quietly asked, 鉄o... why are we a distraction and where are we going? The Major took a map out of the glove compartment and threw it in Miller痴 lap, 展e are going to Monterrey city son, our first real obstacle in this shot for the capital. This column will be leading the attack in about 30 minutes by pulling a blitz on the cities southern outskirts while the main force back at the staging point attacks from the north. When we think the enemies in the city are focused on us enough, we値l regroup with the northern force and help them. Johnson paused and finished with, 典o your question as to why we are a distraction, we are to pull raiders from the Western border of Texas and force them to come after us. Meanwhile in about 24 hours, the UFT will then deploy the actual bulk of its Army to the East, right into the heartland!

Miller felt like passing out as they caught sight of the city in the distance and its dozens of lights and fires from within.

Jameson wiped away sweat from his brow and looked down to his loader Billy, Billy was new to the crew but he was alright. Billy sighed and whined, 溺aaaan it痴 so hot in here! Training in the pan handle wasn稚 too bad but this muggy heat is way worse!
Jameson kept looking through his front view port as he replied, 釘illy we are all sweating like hogs at a BBQ and you池e the only one complaining, so do me a favor and shut up- and for the last time, put your face mask on!

Billy picked up his metal mask laying on the floor and put it on, 典hese things make it even worse, it痴 already 100 degrees in here!
Jameson glanced at one of the temperate gauges on the metal wall and saw it was 94 degrees, he chose not to tell Billy that information. He then said, 鏑ook fellas, our column was told to watch this bridge crossing until the regular Army boys could get here. Once they get here I知 sure they値l have us sent to a nice cushy job standing guard outside the capital or something.
Jameson痴 bad joke got a few chuckles from the crew and he smiled, 滴eck, I知 sure at this very moment the boys in the rear are enjoying ice cold beers and listening to some old world tunes.

Right as he said that their Walker started to vibrate slightly and Jameson popped open his hatch to look around them, as he turned around to look back down the highway they were on he saw a massive column of military vehicles moving towards them. He saw everything from humvees, MRAPs, scout cars, modified civilian trucks, Abram tanks, some retrofitted Patton tanks, and even a long line of Scout walkers moving around a bend about a mile down the road. He sighed heavily and sat back into his hard uncomfortable chair, 鉄orry guys, I don稚 think we池e done with this heat by a long shot.

(To be clear, this is my expansion into the Southern states of America)

Major Johnson knocked on the humvees steering wheel twice and clicked the button to transmit on the handheld he was holding, 鄭lright boys, remember that we池e just a faint attack. Once we receive enough enemy fire we値l throw dust and head to the north part of the city to aid in the real attack. Follow lead MRAP and be ready to retreat.
Johnson handed Miller the radio handset and put the truck into drive as the MRAP ahead of them took off into the outer suburbs of Monterry.

鉄ir, shouldn稚 you be a few more trucks back or even in the rear of the column? Surely a commanding officer shouldn稚 be up front in the thick of it? Miller asked as he got nervous.
Johnson laughed a little and replied, 鉄on, when you致e been in as many scraps as I have you learn the best place to be in a fire fight is near the front! As Johnson said that a hail of small arms fire started impacting the MRAP ahead of them and the column stopped. Once they had stopped, within 10 seconds all the soldiers in the column jumped out of their vehicles and took cover to the sides of the streets. A voice fizzled loudly from the pack on Millers back and he held up his handset to listen, 典his is the main northern attack force, squads Charlie and Alpha are being pushed to our left flank. I repeat, we need reinforcements on our left flank! Someone get that 50 set up on that log!

Miller related the message to Major Johnson who said calmly, 展e can稚 help them from here, all we can do is force the enemies to divert troops to our position and high tell it around the city to help later. Miller nodded and looked behind him where some soldiers knocked down a door and started clearing a small apartment. A moment later a soldier from the roof looked down and yelled, 鼎lear! MG set up! Johnson gave the man a thumbs up and yelled back to the column of soldiers, 鄭lright men this is it! Hold positions and expect contact any second!

Johnson was right again, after about a minute gunfire suddenly exploded from all the buildings around them and someone even screamed there was an RPG on one of the roofs. Miller hunkered down next to Johnson behind a large metal bin and yelled over the gunfire, 的s this enough enemies to retreat now! Johnson looked around for a second longer than Miller liked and nodded. 鄭lright, time to fall back! Someone tell the 50 to cover our retreat and the MRAP will wait for them!
Miller jumped into their humvee and yelped as a bullet sized hole appeared in the trucks hood, 的 thought these things were bullet proof! He yelled.

Johnson raised an eye brow as he looked back behind their truck to follow the columns retreat as he replied, 滴eck, the guys who made these things may have claimed that but the grunts who drove them hated em!
Miller was about fed up with today痴 turn of events and was about to say something when he looked back where they had come from and saw two soldiers throw a machine gun of some kind down to the ground and the followed it by jumping down onto the MRAP痴 roof. After the soldiers had recovered and retrieved their big black gun, one helped the other limp into the back of the large truck and they started to back up with the column.

The events after that would all be a blur to Miller. He remembered bullets whizzing past them as they exited the suburbs and took off down a side road to the north side of the city, he even remembered Major Johnson helping load injured soldiers into the back of their humvee. He couldn稚 remember what happened after that, the next thing he knew he was in his cot feeling like he could sleep for a full week.

Tank commander Jameson walked over to his crew who were milling about under their Walker and said, 鄭lright huddle up, apparently our 50 Walker tanks are to lead the way down this interstate aaallll the way to New Orleans. We are to stop and engage ANY possible threats the Scouts encounter while guarding the troops five miles behind us. We move out in twenty.

As Jameson started to climb the ladder hanging from the belly hatch of their tank Billy blurted, 展ait what? They didn稚 think to tell us this beforehand? I got a girl back in Houston I need to write!
Their driver Kenneth slapped the back of the kids head and said, 滴ey idiot, they wouldn稚 have kept this all hush hush if it wasn稚 a secret! They ain稚 gonna like you write nobody.
Jameson poked his head out from above them and sternly said, 滴e痴 right, our direct orders are to keep this quite and move up. No information in or out, at least not until we take Orleans. Now shut up and get up here, we have a lot of ground to cover and we池e third in the column!
覧-

An hour later they and 49 other Walkers were moving down the long abandoned interstate like four legged metal spiders gliding over thousands of rusted cars. Jameson closed his eyes and rubbed them after an hour of looking through his barely working night vision scope, 的 wish they壇 let us start this operation at day time, my eyes will be shot by my thirties I swear.

As they all swayed with the movement of the tank Billy chimed in, 的 just wish they壇 install AC in these things, they have a heater but no AC! Jameson finished rubbing his eyes and replied, 典hese things require fluids to move, without those heaters our tanks would be frozen in place during winter. On the flip side, they don稚 need AC for us simple crewmen... look I値l pop the hatch for a minute and let some fresh air in. Jameson opened his top hatch and poked his head out to enjoy the breeze, it wasn稚 so bad when you were moving he supposed.

As he opened his eyes he saw a small light in the middle of the interstate up ahead of the lead walker and picked up his radio set, 釘ravo 1 this is Bravo 2, do you see that light about 70 yards out? The lead walker stopped as their commander radioed back, 迭og, looks like a small fire of some kind. Probably just some civilian campsite that they left behind when hey heard us coming. I know I壇 leave in a hurry, keep moving.

As soon as Jameson pressed the button to transmit a reply he saw something odd on the lead Walkers backside and said to his driver, 滴ey Ken, turn on the spot light and put it on the lead tank. Kenneth shrugged since they had stopped the column and flicked the front spot lights power switch on. He and his crew all dropped their jaws when they saw the back side of the lead walker. About 10 small mutants were crawling up the tanks rear legs and a few were already on top.

Jameson smashed the transmit button on his headset and yelled, 釘ravo 1, you have hostiles on your walker! Engage anti-personnel measures now! Do it now!
As Jameson yelled he saw all the lights on the lead walker flick on and squinted as he saw the anti-boarding spikes shoot out of its hull. He watched in horror as one of the mutants managed to rip its impaled leg off and dive for the commanders hatch as the walkers commander opened it to check their tank. James muttered to himself, 哲o no no, what are you doing! Not clear not clear!
The mutant dove onto the mans head and the two fell into the walker as a moment later it痴 left legs suddenly gave out and the tank fell onto its side heavily.

Jameson looked down to Billy and his gunner Niles to yell, 斗oad canister shot, fire on that monster when it comes out! When he looked back up to the lead tank he saw the blood covered mutant dragging a single leg out of the commander hatch and yelled, 擢ire!
A millisecond later their cannon spat out flames as the tank rocked back slightly, the smoke then clearing away to show just a pile of mutant meat smeared across the lead tanks hull.

Ten minutes later Jameson was dismounted with his pistol drawn and peeking into the lead walkers open hatch at the horrors within. 笛esus Christ... alright guys, set demo charges and mount up, blow it after the last walker passes. He said to the two Army engineers standing nearby they had radioed up from the rear. He then got back into his tank and said, 鄭lright guys looks like we池e Bravo 1 now. Keep your eyes glued to those night scopes and keep on your toes, we池e in mutant country now.

Elections are coming soon in Spain. The Democratic Socialist and Syndicalist Parties form a coalition, called The Socialist Alliance, to compete with the current leading Ecosocialist Party. The Social Liberal and Democratic Party is projected to lose 25% of their seats in every branch of Government. Some less pacifistic members of PSEP leave the party as intel of a massive threat to the east is coming from our allies. PSEP continues to limit any legislature that results in policy they see as too "militaristic", which pisses off President Belleza Martinez and she joins the Left Alliance in their battle for the majority and asks the other members who left to do the same.

Invasion of New England II | August 2077

After the formation of New Roulix in New England, tens of thousands of men, women, and children immigrate for a new life. The church makes plans alongside the government to have a massive movement or Roulixian immigration in the coming months. The church is given large portions of each city to ensure an obedient population.

Over the next week reinforcements, weapons, and more are sent. The original 25k is now 75k the addition of 50k. Not all is good in New Roulix as we encountered mutants for the first time on colonization efforts while making small advancements toward New York. New Roulix decides it will use 24k soldiers to invade the smaller states of New Hampshire and Vermont while using the remaining 51k to conquer parts of New York. Into New Hampshire, there is no resistance until we get to Concord where another group of raiders is met, they seem to be having a rough time growing food a famine has struck there area as crops are too cold to grow and had to rely on fish a market that prior was controlled by their rivals in Massachusetts. Knowing this, we were able to peacefully conquer the rest of the state with promises of food and rights to their land in concord.

As we marched into Vermont, everything seemed as though it was abandoned. No life was found, no life at all... Not a single bird... This was perplexing but not an unfamiliar sight. While securing borders that border New York not a single form of life was found except for the trees and grass. After marching through the empty, baron hills of Vermont they are told to secure the northern border, and the New Hampshire army to secure the eastern one. However, the reason why there are abandoned cities will soon be found out.

51k Soldiers advance into New York fearing large settlements of raider camps, armed with things better than primitive weapons, the reality is something much worse. The entirety of upstate New York is empty just the same as Vermont was. This made the soldiers' jobs easy, but the lack of life itself strikes fear into the hearts of most. The carried onward south toward Long Island as they cross the Hudson river a Commander takes out his binoculars to see the Skyline of New York City, what he saw made him freeze in fear. His comrades quickly took his binoculars to see what he saw, what they see is not hundreds, not tens of thousands... but several million of zombie-like mutants trying to siege New York City. The commander calls for an immediate retreat and to dig in behind the Hudson River to defend.

The commander contacts the General who gives the order to defend the Hudson River to the death until reinforcements arrive. The General contacts the New Roulixian War Council, who then contact the Roulixian United Defense Council. The UDC makes preparations to send 1 million soldiers to New Roulix, out of haste all amphibious assault ships, Cruise ships, Hospital ships, and Aircraft carriers are to carry as many men they can carry to defend New Roulix. As the ships depart from the Homeland, crisis strikes as some mutants spot the soldiers making fortifications the commander tells the soldiers to create as little sound as possible and to kill swiftly and quietly to not alert the hordes.

NYC CRISES | August 2077

The 2 mutants turned to 4 and then turned to 8, and so on. Over the hours of digging into their trenches, the day turns to night. Reinforcements aren't expected for another 24 hours. 2 soldiers just finishing a part of the trench turn pale as they hear splashing from the other side of the river, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that some of the mutants have been alerted. They run to the commander who tells them not to open fire no matter the case, he explains that stabbing it anywhere besides the back of the neck or skull will do nothing to it as they are monsters that don't feel pain and can't be killed by blood loss. He tells them to tell everyone on their way back to their position. The news spreads like wildfire across the front. The two soldiers sneak out across the trenches to the riverbank planning a sneak attack on the mutant who has nearly made it across. The mutant bolts to one of the soldiers as the other tackles it to the ground and stabs it at the base of the skull immediately ending its life.

This seems to be an effective strategy against the mutants. The splashing of the mutant had alerted a handful more who restart the process, soldiers crawl out of their trenches waiting for the mutants. At this point, the blood from the first mutant makes it's way downstream alerting the rest of the soldiers, they know its only a matter of time now. Commanders across the front beg the General for reinforcements, he contacts the General of the naval operation who informs him that they have departed and are expected to arrive in 20 hours. The general's heart drops as he informs the commanders that reinforcements will soon arrive, and to fight to the death. After an hour or so a horde of a hundred mutants attempt to make the crossing, the violent crashing of the mutants crossing the river emits a large amount of sound alerting more and more mutants. When they finally cross the river the first causality is caused, a mutant grabs a soldier's arm and bites off a couple of fingers, screaming in pain he tries to stab the mutant another leaps onto him biting deep into his neck. Comrades back him up killing the mutants as they watch their friend drown in his own blood, unable to end his misery quickly without alerting the horde more than they already have. They take him to a Medic station as he soon dies.

As the squad of soldiers makes their way back to the trenches someone in a similar situation seemingly didn't get the memo and shoots his handgun to avoid death from a mutant, his attempt at life was futile as the mutants pile on him after firing the handgun. By the acts of one selfish individual, the entirety of New Roulix is seemingly doomed as thousands of mutants are alerted. They make blood-curdling screams to alert more, and more mutants. As thousands of mutants make their way across the river floodlights are turned on the light up the river. Soldiers run back into their trenches as they begin to arm the strategically placed machine guns and flamethrowers ready to spray and pray hoping to fend off the hordes of mutants. They wait until the mutants make it into the deepest part of the river before opening fire, an extremely effective tactic that slows the target to a crawling speed.

It is 12 hours until reinforcements arrive. The front line has become a rinse and repeat of waiting for each wave of mutants to come and go. With each wave, a larger one follows. 4 hours later, larger waves call for soldiers to fire their weapons in addition to the machine gun turrets. The intensity begins increasing considerably when the mutants begin making it to the river bank some 25 feet from the tenches flamethrowers are added to the mix to prevent them from leaving the water. Soon the waves become a long constant flow of mutants across the whole line. Severely undermanned the mutants begin making it out of the water getting ever closer to the trenches. Then for an unknown reason, everything stops, then all at once tens of thousands begin rushing across the river. The river in some places filled with so many bodies they can be used as a bridge to cross parts of the river. Overwhelmed the sheer number of mutants, the defenses are overrun and mutants enter the trenches. Roulixans fight off the mutants with a pistol in one hand and a knife in the other, flamethrowers and machine guns do their best to lessen the numbers.

4 hours until reinforcements arrive. A couple of thousand Roulixian soldiers lost their lives at this point. As the sun rises, the river so dense with bodies the water is no longer clear but a dark shade of crimson. The smell of metal emits from the river as the gun powder and smoke nearly block out the sunlight. The trenches are ankle-high with blood, there is nowhere to step besides on the bodies of mutants and your fallen comrades. At this point, the soldiers whole have almost turned almost as feral as the mutants themselves are covered in the blood of their friends, their enemies, and for many, even their own. Nonstop fighting in the trenches occurs as the reinforcements finally land in Connecticut. Numbers in the front line begin degrading as fatigue sets in, tens of thousands of scooter divisions are deployed and will arrive within 2 hours. The Airforce arrive and begin carpet-bombing runs every 30 minutes, the break the soldiers on the front line needed after losing about 30k soldiers over half of who were originally stationed, were finally able to retake the trenches and force the mutants back to the river bed. After 2 hours, the constant bombing the front finally stabilized, with the arrival of 90,000 infantry arriving by scooter.

In another 4 hours, the rest of the reinforcements will arrive. When the new troops arrive, the scene they find themselves in is indescribable. most won't get used to this environment of bloodshed. If hell invaded, surely it is fought here. After the reinforcements arrive, the mutants rarely made it to the trenches again. After 3 days of holding the line, the waves began to thin and by night an advance is made. Crossing the river bed muddy with blood just to have to climb a mound of bodies where a river used to run. The soldiers march toward New York City, the population now reduced to nothing the soldiers still dripping with blood wander aimlessly through the city. Most find themselves in Time square where they collapse to the ground in exhaustion. Their lives will never be the same, their minds consumed by war, this is their way of life now.

The single battle lasted nearly 6 days over 100,000 Roulixians lost their lives. Nearly 6 days of nonstop combat, over 8 million mutants were killed. The River would frequently be filled with bodies, to combat this they would chuck hand grenades into the river to get the river to flow again. The water level of the river at some parts raised by nearly 8 inches. This is the bloodiest week in Roulixian, and possibly even Terran history.

The battle of the Hudson River will never be forgotten.
