No. Just. No. It can’t- he can’t- he couldn’t- why were they here? Did she maybe confuse these ones for another role? Black agiltes were solely used by the grief officers were they not? Then why are they here?!
All she wants to do is run away, run away to him, to tell him it is ridiculous, to tell him he is her hero, her defender, her role model, her whole world, without him who'd she look up to? All those are questions a young girl should never need to ask.
And yet this is all she can, her brother, her dearly loved big hero, died. He wasn't coming back. He wasn’t going to sing with her. He wasn’t going to play, to defend, to do a myriad of endless other things with her.
He was gone. Forever. And when she stopped crying, all she knew was anger.

Rows on rows, all of fallen heroes, forever in formation, the defenders of an entire nation, from each war to the next, an entire life summed up in one paragraph of text.
Some may say, the highest award for a soldier is to die for their country, b*llshit, the highest award they get is living to come home to their families and embrace their loved ones.
Then why didn’t he make it?
There she stood, a rose in her hand, and tears in her eyes. Aside from her, this section of the cemetery was nearly empty, not many pilots had their anniversary of death today…
She stares at the gravestone, the text did not change from the last visit.
‘Tomer Shakur 1985-2007, Esteemed Pilot, Top Graduate of the Călăneasa University, loving brother, fallen in Operation Judecată Dreaptă.’
“Oh You’ll see Oh You’ll see… How good will it be… in the next, in… the next… y-year..”
But she just can’t, it was is favorite song, she just can’t hold the tears as she falls to her knees, placing the rose onto the grave, grief is a terrible thing…
“I… I miss you…”
Is all she can mutter between her cries, there is just so much that she wants to tell him, but she just couldn’t get her voice to cooperate.
An hour later, as she ran out of tears to cry, she finally stood up, cleaned the gravestone from the weather and from her tears, gave a short salute, and walked away.
And now, she did all she could to make sure he did not die in vain, she would fight for the same cause he did, and by god, will she get the job done at last.
It truly was considerate of the company to give her a week-off for the holidays, and a promotion to captain too, what a sad coincidence that it happened to cross dates with that.
A stark reminder why she is there, why she just can’t go for the comfort just yet, there is a task at hand. They took him from her. They will pay the price.
