We're not a roleplay region, this is a vote that has a legitimate consequence on our government and our region.

Zaratov was elected into their role in the General Assembly, but they have left the regional and government discord servers without making an announcement or letting anyone know what the reason is, and hasn't responded to telegrams asking them for an explanation - which provides grounds for their removal from the General Assembly. We're holding a vote to determine if the World Assembly registered population supports the movement to remove them from the General Assembly.

To vote, you need to join the World Assembly. Military voters are citizens of TLA whose WA nation is external of our region - and is associated with an approved raider/defender group.

You should join our discord if you're able.

To expand on what Heck said, our government system is a very central part of regional organisation, and is split into three branches (executive, legislature, and judiciary), like many real-life countries. They each seek to deal with game mechanics (e.g. Regional Officers, endorsements, embassies, regional designs, general RMB conduct), and pursue general goals of boosting the number of members and their engagement.

I accidentally got rid of Prudism by subsidising hentai on TV or smthn. Idk y'all the guys argument was pretty convincing. "When people think Idezvoya, they should think Hentai!" that's a pretty good pitch. Didn't think tentacle pr0n was gonna get rid of prudism tho :(

If there’s one thing that prudish conservatives love, it’s hentai.

That’s not even a joke.

Zaratov is removed from office with a majority in favour of the motion. The vote had 42 in favour, 2 against, and 8 abstentions.

A by-election to fill the vacancy will commence shortly.

VOTE PODRIA FOR MGA
November 2019 Manifesto to fill the position formerly held by Zaratov - Unity in Diversity!
Hello comrades of The Leftist Assembly, I am Podria, and I will be running for MGA this November.
About Me

Hello all! I am Podria, and I am running to be your Member of the General Assembly. I started NationStates in June of 2018 under the nation Jartia, though eventually switched over to this nation, which I have been on for just over a year. I too am a leftist, and found The Leftist Assembly while I was searching for a community of left wing and when I found it, I was hooked. I am so proud and happy for this community and what it has done for me, and every Assemblian who has gotten involved, which is why I want to give back to this community, and serve on the General Assembly.

My Qualifications

I believe that I would be a fantastic Member of the General Assembly. I have over one year of NationStates experience, much of that spent in The Leftist Assembly, participating in World Assembly votes, polls, N-Day, Z-Day, culture comps, and many other regional and inter-regional activities. I am very active on NationStates, logging in at least once a day, if not more; I am also very active on Discord, which I check multiple times per day. As a occupation, I manage communications for a volunteer service bureau of over 3,000 members as a part of a larger organization with over 70,000 members. All in all, I believe that my experience and knowledge will benefit The Leftist Assembly in a positive fashion.

My Goals

As your Member of the General Assembly, I would have three main goals. My main goal will be to foster a community in which all people are free and comfortable to discuss freely their beliefs, issues, and hobbies in a diverse, accepting environment. My second goal will be to maintain an efficient, democratic, and well informed government. I will stop at nothing to ensure that the people of TLA are properly represented and served by the General Assembly as dictated in the Constitution, and that all those serving in TLA government are well informed, and are able to easily communicate with each other on the issues facing The Leftist Assembly. My third and final goal during my service will be to begin work on vastly improving how TLA communicates, both within the government, and from the government to the Assemblians.

So, if this all sounds like what you want in your Member of the General Assembly then...

honestly, I didn't even see that. Heck's gettin old.

Fevhader

Dear Assemblians, today I have two announcements to make:

Firstly, in accordance with the Vacant Position Act, section 3.e, I will be appointing Llorens as the by-election moderator.

Lastly, I will be removing comrade Kavagrad from the position of Minister of Apocalyptic Affairs, since this year's N-Day and Z-Day have concluded. He has served very well in this position, and I encourage whoever's elected Secretary when the next minigames start to appoint him as MoAA again (if he's willing to, of course).

Sincerely,
Argentigrad

I present my manifesto for the By-Election. If you have any questions, then feel free to send me a telegram

About me

Greetings comrades! I am Kongoland, and I will be running in the upcoming MGA by-election. I am relatively new to Nationstates, having first set up under this nation earlier this year. I quickly settled on The Leftist Assembly as a region. Whilst this was initially primarily due to the "Unity in diversity!" regional motto making the region seem very inclusive, I quickly became engaged with other factors, such as the organised participation in events such as N-Day, and, of course, the electoral process. This region has much to offer, and I love that. Generally, I plan to work to further this inclusive nature, so that others will be able to share the great experience that I have had here so far.

My platform

If I am elected, I will vote based on a number of guiding principles. As earlier stated, diversity and inclusivity would be at the forefront, as these are ideas which I believe are essential in modern left-wing politics. Anti-authoritarian and pro-democratic beliefs would also likely play a role in my voting, as I believe, ultimately, that people of all nations and regions across the whole world should be entitled to have their voices heard. I would of course be supporting of regional events, as it ties into the idea of participating in something greater, and is something that this region excels in. Finally, I would always try to vote for more transparency within the General Assembly so that more people can get involved in campaigning and expressing their opinions.

To conclude

As a MGA, I would work to vote for a more democratic, transparent institution in which all nations in The Leftist Assembly can have more of a voice. I would include and value a diverse range of nations, and fight relentlessly against bigotry and hatred. It is imperative that people make the most of what we have here, so that real progress can be made if need be. That is all for now, but if you have any questions regarding specific policy, then feel free to send me a telegram.

I'll just ask one question of each of the candidates:

Podria - You mention in your manifesto that you want to "work on vastly improving how TLA communicates, both within the government, and from the government to the Assemblians." What current problems do you see in this area and what measures would you put in place to fix them?

Wascoitan - You propose a "government oversight" committee. Do you believe that our current systems of accountability (e.g. 5% of WA nations can call a no confidence vote against any government member) are insufficient, and how do you see this body fixing that, rather than creating bureaucratic mess?

Kongoland - Similarly to both other candidates, one of your manifesto promises is "to vote for more transparency within the General Assembly." Do you have any specific ideas as to how you would achieve this goal?

Cedoria and Graemania

Essentially, I would push for the release of information about individual General Assembly deliberations as soon as possible except in outstanding circumstances. This would allow for people to speak their voices on these matters so that MGAs have more insight when voting on it. Over time, this could also expand to advocating for possible alteration of the Legislature Conduct Act in order to further streamline this process.
