VOCRYAE: Following the conclusion of IS#14, the Royalist Authoritarian Party (RAP) has been reelected in a landslide victory, making Sir Andrew Hazelwood II HCS of Golden Impirial Utopia the first President of the Imperial Senate to serve a second term.
President Hazelwood and his Cabinet were sworn into office at the Imperial Palace, Vocryae, and then appeared publicly before an Imperial crowd of thousands.
Hazelwood's Cabinet has seen a slight reshuffle, with Dame Anastasia Clarke HCS retiring her portfolio as Director of the Department of Arts and Communications, and instead accepting the position of Vice-President of the Imperial Senate. Viktor McRain of The Yeetusa claims Vice-President Clarke's previous portfolio, Percy Gilbert Moore of Jefferson Club heads the Department of Finance as Treasurer, and Otto Valkenburg of The Xaviet Empire will serve as Secretary of the Department of Defense.
The Central Imperial Direktorate under High-Direktor Doris Kohn, whom some have labelled the now-de facto leader of Jocospor, has expressed its support for the Second Hazelwood Administration.
"President Hazelwood and Vice-President Clarke have the total confidence of the Shadow Emperor, myself, and all of the Shadow Cult and both its Imperial Council and Confederation," said High-Direktor Kohn.
"We look forward to the Royalist Authoritarian Party's continued successes in office."
Leaps and bounds have been made by the RAP since its founding by the traitorous implant-state, Tyrransae. The First Hazelwood Administration saw the passage of several critical laws which have redefined Confederation society, such as the Copyright and Licensing Act 2020 (IS#11), the WMD Act 2020 (IS#12), and the Government Act 2020 (IS#13).
The rumours surrounding IS#14 - that being the allegations of voter-interference by foreign powers - have been confirmed as truth. A recently disgraced member state of the Confederation is understood to have contacted Imperial Senators and manipulated their votes. Originally, it was thought that this manipulation was in support of the RAP; in reality, senators were being blackmailed into supporting rival Senate factions.
The results of the re-conducted IS#14 undeniably confirm Sir Andrew as the legitimate President of the Imperial Senate.
While the Second Hazelwood Administration has not yet revealed its agenda, some have speculated that military reform will be a top priority. Given the popularity of President Hazelwood and Vice-President Clarke, others have even suggested constitutional and legal revision.
Most agree that the Imperial Senate as a whole will continue to discharge its duties in accordance with the recently-issued apology to NationStates by the Shadow Cult, for Jocospor's past transgressions against the inter-regional community. The apology has largely received favourable reviews.
The reelection of the RAP has given rise to a new faction within the Imperial Senate, Hellslayer's United Guardian Party (UGP). Stirred on by the failing opposition in the Unaligned Party (UP) and the Nationalist Party (NP), the UGP has already begun gaining support across the Confederation. Analysts predict it will soon achieve the status of major party, and subsequently become known as the Opposition.
"We look forward to removing the corrupt Sir Andrew from power," declared Jax Arcanic of Hellslayer in an address to the Imperial Senate.
"This is man who has swindled his way into office with no prior experience, and has even conned the Shadow Cult into awarding him a Hero of the Confederation, Second Class."
Nonetheless, support for President Hazelwood and Vice-President Clarke remains strong.
In other news, The Confederation Bullet notes the recent departure of MineLegotia and Equestria, Ukraniumstan and The Order of the Holy Inquisitors from the Azure Watester Federation. Sources speak of internal strife within the splinter-region.

VOCRYAE: Successful overtures between Jocospor and MineLegotia and Equestria (M.E.) have been conducted, resulting in the construction of an embassy between the Confederation and Of Books and Stories (OBS).
M.E., once a member state of the Confederation, left in February along with several others to the Azure Watester Federation (AWF). In that time, it played a critical role in creating and developing the region.
But the recent turmoil that has embroiled AWF saw M.E. leave the region, instead opting for national isolation along with its abroad territories in OBS.
Following the move, the Shadow Cult's High-Direktor Doris Kohn received a lengthy letter of support from M.E.'s Kaisar Jason I.
"There is no more animosity between us," wrote the kaisar.
High-Direktor Kohn, in conjunction with the Mouth and Will of the Emperor, Sir Aleksandr Ivanov HCF of Depackya, delivered a statement of hope on the steps of the Imperial Palace, Vocryae.
"Let this reconciliation between old rivals serve as a testament of not only the Confederation's redefined foreign policy, but also of the maturity and respect two states can show one another."
The Confederation remains committed to promoting a positive message of inclusiveness and safety, and wishes Kaisar Jason I and MineLegotia and Equestria well for the future.

The flag of Republic of Satherland who won the election
This month’s election was surely anticipated, since the incumbent Eritei did not apply for candidacy, but yet expected to be calm like the others this year. Yet, as usual, Europe surprised us with twists, plots, and drama altogether. Between the 16 and 19 August three candidates filed the necessary data for the election: Alienage, Eurasies, and Republic of Satherland.
Alienage, except for a campaign telegram sent on the day the election started, didn’t release any kind of information on his platform for the election. In past elections, he has run for either a democratization of the region or the adoption of socialist policies. He founded a party, the European Socialist Movement, later renamed European Leftist Movement, which eventually disbanded, and was the runner up in the May election for First Deputy Commissioner.
Eurasies is a relatively new member of our community but he rose to prominence quickly thanks to his involvement on the RMB. His ‘mini-campaign’, as he labelled it, is about renovation and support for the current establishment.
Satherland is a very well-known European, having been leader of the now disbanded Alliance Coalition for Europe, one of the largest parties to ever have existed in our region; founder and author of The Satherlandic Times, Europe’s first election commentary; organiser of the second and third European Electoral Debates; co-author of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act and author of the Due Process Act. Satherland’s campaign for the election is largely unclear but revolves around his past experiences accrued both in Europe and in Thaecia, where he currently is an MP in the House of Commons.
In the first moments after the beginning of the election on 26 August, Satherland took a strong lead over his rivals. But, at the end of the first day, Alienage released his campaign telegram in which Alienage claimed that Satherland was a traitor because of his activity in Thaecia, a region that is allegedly against Europe and their WA Delegate, Imperium Anglorum. Furthermore, he claimed that Satherland's inactivity before the declaration for candidacy was a clear sign of his lack of interest for Europe. On the following day, a follow-up response was released by Satherland through a post on the RMB. In this post, Satherland rejected all of the Alienage's claims on Thaecia being 'anti-Europe' and called out his opponent for having been away from Europe for two months. In another post he added that his inactivity, that affected Europe and Thacia equally, was caused by a recent death in his family. This exchange caused a long and heated debate on the RMB, with people taking sides depending on who they trusted the most. The one who gained the most from the quarrel was Eurasies, who saw a resurgence of voters, as he was endorsed by Alienage as a more reliable individual when the latter declared to have dropped out of the election. Furthermore, former European regular Dizgovzy, through a nation named Kerguelen and Heard, debunked Alienage’s statements on Satherland and Thaecia, and released a handful of evidence suggesting, as he claimed, that the persona behind Alienage was Kirostan and asked the Delegate to intervene. For those who may not be aware, Kirostan was a once renowned European regular who fell from grace and was ultimately banned after repeated sexual harassment directed at female residents and minors. Alienage rejected the accusations and announced he was going to leave Europe, although he did not follow up on his words. As the day was closing, with Satherland and Eurasies neck-and-neck, the election overseer, The Poland-Lithuania Commonwealth, restarted the election because of a mistake in the poll. Parliament matters pertain to Electors, who are defined by law as native residents and WA members at the moment a motion is called. While setting the poll, Poland-Lithuania forgot to tick the native-only option.
28 August saw the battle for the Commission post resume between Satherland and Eurasies with the two remaining only within a few votes from each other. During the day, Dizgovzy released on Europe’s Discord all the evidence he and other unnamed people collected over the past months to demonstrate that Alienage is Kirsostan. As many have noted, the evidence only demonstrates that Alienage is probably simply a native German speaker pretending to be Spanish and that there is no definitive evidence that he and Kirostan are the same person. The accusation did not proceed to a court case, since the evidence was largely circumstantial and did not corroborate the claim of the accuser. Meanwhile, the race between Eurasies and Satherland went on the following day too with a succession of short-lived overtakings on both sides. The embers of the fiery debate of the previous day had died and the region watched as the electoral dance was performed. Finally, over 30 August, Satherland began to surpass his rival, enlarging the gap between him and his opponent over the day. Eventually, Satherland won with 46 votes. Both candidates congratulated each other, but a final twist was thrown by the Delegate himself. After having verified the votes, it was uncovered that 5 voters were not electors at the moment the poll was restarted thus leading to a new vote tally which didn't change the election’s outcome. Furthermore, as alerted to the Cabinet by Dizgovzy in a post on the RMB, Alienage was not to be included in the election since he had stepped out of the WA for some time (full statement of the Delegate here). This election is surprising us even after its end.
Total votes cast: 80
Alienage: 2 (2.5%)
Eurasies: 36 (45%)
Satherland: 42 (52.5%)

The claim of a feud between Thaecia and Europe has
grown more and more over time
A Feud Between Two Regions
One of the main topics that emerged during the election, if not the most highlighted, was the claim of a feud between Thaecia and Europe. As you may know, over time a number of Europeans settled in Thaecia and are now a strong part of the community there. Starting with Laver Island, others moved or established puppets in the region, people like Bathera, Dizgovzy, Republic of Satherland, Yahlia, and even myself. These nations, referred to as ‘Thaeuros’ in Thaecia, have recently been viewed with some kind of suspicion by other European residents and have been claimed to be spies and traitors. But why do people think hatred exists between these regions? And why has suspicion arose between our residents? The answers to these questions might be linked with three instances that happened in the last few months: the Embassy Affair, the Smerv Affair, and the Diz v Gor Feud.
The Embassy Affair
A recurring point in political discussion, and occasionally a point in some political platforms, was the establishment of an embassy between Thaecia and Europe. As my very first act in my fifth term as Commissioner in April, an opinion poll was called with a vast majority of Europeans voting in favour of this embassy proposal. Yet the Cabinet had a say and our Delegate called another opinion poll, this one asking whether our policy of not establishing embassies with regions recruiting WA members in user-created regions (or UCRs) should be maintained. This poll saw an overwhelming majority voting for retaining the policy, so the embassy with Thaecia was never realised. While many saw this as a salty move, the truth is that Thaecia’s recruitment program has sparked a lot of debate on the interregional stage as WA recruitment in UCRs is seen as ‘malicious’ by most. That said, the Cabinet’s opposition was legitimate and, as stated by Imperium Anglorum himself “My only objection to [an] embassy with Thaecia is their recruitment practices[...]”. Relations between the two regions continued as usual and Dizgovzy was even appointed as Thaecian diplomat to Europe while also being the European diplomat to Thaecia.
The Smerv Affair
Another point also made is that Thaecias came to Europe’s Discord spamming and harassing people with posts like ‘smerv???’ or ‘guise i’m smerv’. What was intended as an innocent joke soon became an incident leading to mutes and warnings. But why did it happen? As explained by Laver Island: “It started when a troll in Thaecia, after a warning by mods, [...] left Thaecia to start a new region which he advertised it to us. Me and 2-3 others decided to make puppets and pretend to be anti-Thaecia while engaging in his spammy behaviour for the memes. One guy, The Bigtopia I believe, made the Smerv account and the joke was that he was a child not really understanding how to spell and what was going on, hence ‘guise I'm smerv’ and ‘smerv sumfing????’ [...] Then, in May, a few Thaecians joined Eurocord and then we'd say "Guise I'm Smerv???" whenever someone would bring up Thaecia in a negative way or whenever there was a jokey [sic] like convo. Not every Thaecian approved of it either, but I don't think we intended to spam [...] we more or less took our own normal discord behaviour we learned in one place and brought to another”. Ultimately, it was just a short-lived joke, a joke that “failed to be funny” as Laver Island admitted, yet someone took this as a sign of disrespect to Europe.
The Diz v Gor Feud
We won’t indulge much in its reasons and happening, but it surely isn’t wrong to say that there's no love lost between Dizgovzy and Gor Kebab. But, we may simplify, it all started when the feud led to Dizgovzy leaving Europe for good. As a followup move, Gor Kebab chased Dizgovzy to Thaecia, flaming and gloating, getting banned and then ban evading with an alt. This situation caused much distress in Thaecia, where some residents began to mistakenly identify Gorundu with the aforementioned alt, and led to a moratorium on discussions about Europe from 19 June to 21 June. At this point, Thaecia’s Administration asked the European Cabinet to take action against Gor Kebab and, after its refusal, suspended diplomatic relations. As a further happening, Laver Island and Bathera left the region in protest against Imperium Anglorum’s decision not to prosecute Gor Kebab. This is, and was, the most highlighted event that led people to presume that Thaecia is against Europe and its Delegate. Hence why Thaeuros are seen as traitors or spies by some Europeans. But why did our Delegate choose not to punish Gor Kebab? The reason is simple: jurisdiction. As stated by the Delegate “I'm very wary of trying to discipline people for actions made in places were we (or at least I, I don't know about anyone else) have very little ability to verify statements or without the consent of the owners of that place [...] I agree, however, that Gor's behaviour if it happened here, and we could confirm that to be the case, would absolutely merit a ban for a day or so (not having more offences of the sort) but Thaecia needs to take action as to that”. Our Delegate's opinion was that we cannot punish people for behaving badly in other regions, especially if there is no trust between the two, and that such an event would lead to a precedent where regions can meddle in each other's affairs.
So, does Thaecia hate Europe? Based on the events we covered, no. While there was some culture-shock between the two regions, it’s hard to say we hate each other. Furthermore, the fact that people live in both the regions at the same time proves that the two communities can live together, especially since Thaecians are very welcoming to Europeans. Even now, the only obstacle to an embassy with Thaecia is their recruitment program and Europe's Delegate and the Foreign Secretary had no problem in voting for Satherland in the election, a sign they do not deem Thaecian residents as a menace. Maybe some Europeans should just understand that living in two communities does not mean they hate one of the two, but instead they love both so much to want to be in both at the same time. Maybe we should just start trying to understand each other instead of entrenching ourselves in our opinions. Maybe we should stop bringing fear-mongering and cheap chauvinism in a game and enjoy life together.

Some months have passed, but the polling programme we wanted to start never really, well, started. As of now, only eight nations joined the programm, too few to begin. We hope that this reminder will bring this thing under spotlight. Polls will be released monthly, sometimes more than one a per month, and may be on every kind of subject: from NS related matters to IRL ones.
If you want to vote in our opinion polls that will be published in future EuroNews issues, all you have to do is sign up on this document. Just write your nation’s name and, as soon as we gain a reasonable number of applicants, we will provide you a verification code that you will use to validate your answer in the next poll. The verification code will help us get valid results and it will be linked with your nation name only.

Europeans of the Month
Nothing is more important for keeping our region alive than its community! So, here is this issue’s Europeans of the Month to award some of our members for their contributions to NationStates Europe!
The award for Newcomer of the Month goes to... Pamia!
Pamia is not a new nation by any means but they are a very recent addition to the European region and have quickly become an active member of the RMB. Checking in daily, they’ve already had many interactions with many of our regulars both new and old. Welcome to Europe, Pamia!
The award for RMBer of the Month goes to... Gutaiai!
Gutaiai is a very active member of our community, posting to the RMB, joining people’s fun alliances and creating maps. People like Gutaiai are the reason our RMB always finds a way to thrive no matter what happens to it. Thanks for keeping Europe fresh, Gutaiai!
The award for Flag of the Month goes to... Kanokla!
This is a unique take on a Union Jack style flag, using the same colours of the original but using them almost in a tri-colour fashion similar to the French flag. The flag looks great up close but also in its small icon forms on the RMB and elsewhere. A simple but interesting flag!
The award for Motto of the Month goes to... The New Nordic Union!
“Við lóg skal land byggjast!” (With laws shall land be built)
I feel like Icelandic is an under-appreciated language, being the closest to the original old Norse and retaining unique letters in its alphabet. It’s nice to see a motto in this unusual language and the meaning of NNU’s is pretty interesting too, stressing the importance of law and order in establishing a nation-state that is safe to live in no matter who you are.
The award for Factbook of the Month goes to... Someseni!
This is an incredible piece of work, one of the most detailed and well laid out national information pages I’ve ever seen! This main launch page links to a constitution, the wiki article, parties, leaders, and even news. It basically functions as a website for Someseni. When you click on any of these links, you’ll see even more detail and effort, with a national factbook containing more information than most. And to top it all off, everything is written in two languages, both English and Romanian! Very impressive work, Someseni, I think everyone needs to take a look at your work and appreciate what you’ve done!
And last but definitely not least, the award for General Excellence this month goes to... Eurasies!
Eurasies, despite still being a relative newcomer, tried his hand at the commissioner elections this month and did incredibly, tying with Satherland at multiple points and getting a considerable following despite not winning overall. In addition to this, he has continued to pump out a lot of interesting and fully completed factbooks and dispatches, proving his commitment to developing his nation, including a very interesting one detailing what different colours mean in Eurasian politics. Keep up the great work!

The Flag of South Pacific
South Pacific Pandemonium
August 2 2020, another day at the tropical paradise of South Pacific (SP). Then, something black appears: hundreds of raiders from all over NS, including The Black Hawks, Balder, The Land of Kings and Emperors, Social Technocratic Union, the Europeian Republican Navy, Caer Sidi, Lone Wolves United, HYDRA Command, United Kingdom, Karma and Hartfelden. Natives and defenders are shocked as the raiders make their way into SP’s government.
It is worth noting the difference between the South Pacific and South Pacific. The South Pacific is a feeder region where nations spawn, whereas South Pacific (without ‘the’) is a ‘ripoff’ of the former. The latter was the victim of the raid.
Dashworie Aedorse, also known as Aquila, was elected delegate of SP with more than a hundred endorsements. The native delegate, Panther, only had sixty-seven. Defenders arrive from various armies including NPA, SPSF, RRA, Lily, EPSA, TITO, TGW, UDSAF. Civilian Militia, including several nations from Europe, also joined the effort. However, it was still not enough to liberate the region as the Hawks ejected defender nations, keeping the numbers down. It seemed hopeless to many as Panther was well behind Aquila in endorsement count.
Despite difficulties, defenders were determined to get South Pacific out of raider hands. Tens of nations joined the ‘Phoenix Flock Fleet’, the largest update force in NationStates history, numbering 90 and 86 respectively over two consecutive updates in an attempt to take the region (there has been attempts before as well). The Black Hawks weren’t losing it either as they continued banjecting defender nations. At last, after 8 days of occupation, the Black Hawks declared victory and started retreating, while the defenders managed to restore Panther as the delegate of South Pacific, thus ending the occupation on 10 August. So who won? Depends on how you look at it.
But why did the ‘largest update force’ fail at first? The raiders used a tactic called ‘update-bending’ to prevent defenders from liberating South Pacific. Originally used by defenders, update-bending happens when a group of nations quickly flood or empty a region to make calculating update time harder (to know more see here). But at least, South Pacific is back to its normal self!

The State Flag of Idaho with the motto ‘Esto
Perpetua’ meaning ‘Let it be forever’ in Latin
USA Tour: Idaho
This is the second article by South St Maarten, primarily for non-Americans, which will explore some of the lesser known states in the United States of America. Last month we visited Maine, and today, we will head west to Idaho!
Biggest City: Boise
Population: 1,754,208 (2018)
Land Area: 83,642 mi² (134,608 km²)
Date Joined the Union: 3 July 1890
Borders: Oregon, Washington (West), Canada (North), Montana, Wyoming (East) Utah, Nevada (South)
Nickname: The Potato State, The Gem State
Native American tribes have lived in present day Idaho for over a thousand years. The Nez Perce and the Coeur d'Alene resided in the north; the Shoshone and Bannock in the south. They were skilled mountaineers due to the rough terrain. The Nez Perce came into contact with French fur traders near present day Boise in the late 1700s. There they received a few horses, and soon became extremely skilled equestrians. They also pioneered many passes through the Rocky Mountains. By the time the United States came into being, Idaho was still void of European Settlement. On their famous Northwest Expedition, Lewis and Clark passed through Idaho, being some of the first Americans to do so. They traded with the Nez Perce and crossed the continental divide over Lemhi Pass. However, after their expedition came to a close, Lewis and Clark left the area.
From 1810-1830, the land that makes up present-day Idaho was part of the Oregon Territory, a loosely controlled area claimed and administered by both the United States and the United Kingdom. Fur traders gradually patronised the area more and more, but permanent settlements were still rare. As settlers started to head west, the famous Oregon Trail was developed through the area, and had some of the harshest terrain of the whole route, crossing multiple mountain ranges, navigating rough rivers, and dealing with freezing winters and harsh summers. Also, the area was prone to Native American attacks and had multiple horrible massacres against both the Native Americans and settlers on the trail. To help protect the settlers, Fort Boise was built and its location is today the capital, Boise. Many American cities were built where old forts had stood, such as New Orleans (St. Jean), Chicago (Fort Dearborn), & Pittsburgh (Fort Pitt). The Oregon Trail came to an end after the conclusion of the Civil War, in which Idaho was unaffected by.
Mining exploded in Idaho towards the end of the 19th century, specifically for silver. Boise City (now just Boise) became the territory's capital in the 1880s, and by the time statehood arrived, it was a full city. The last decade of the 19th century brought huge spikes in mining and population growth. Since then however, potatoes have been the notable product of the region, and Idaho potatoes are coveted not only by Americans but peoples abroad.
Culture, Landscape, and Transportation
Since the 1820s, Idaho's history has been quiet. The state is not frequently visited, yet houses some of the most incredible vistas and views in the continental United States. Over 20.4 million acres of the state are protected as National Forests, meaning almost 40% of the state is wild. The panhandle of Idaho is very uninhabited while the Southern part contains the large majority of the population. The Snake and Salmon rivers flow through the state, and even the Capital Boise's name derives from the French word for forest. The extreme Southwest Corner of the State is desert-like, leading into the vast expanses of Nevada.
Idaho is connected to the rest of the United States by many roads, including Interstates 90, 15, and 84. Boise & Pocatello have significant airports with daily flights. With a limited population, Idaho has a lone train station, Sandpoint, along the Pend Oreille River. From Sandpoint passengers can take Amtrak's Empire Builder which runs between Chicago Illinois, Seattle Washington, and Portland Oregon. Idaho is landlocked, however kayaking and canoeing are often done in the state's many rivers, and Idaho houses many of the world's best whitewater rapids. Boating is popular for recreation but is rarely used as a daily mode of transportation.
We've gone east, we've gone west, and our next trip will put us somewhere in between, specifically: Arkansas

Beirut’s harbour after the explosion
Shortly after 6 pm on 4 August, one of the world’s largest non-nuclear explosions tore through Beirut, Lebanon. Heard 200 km away on the island of Cyprus, and registered as a 3.3 magnitude earthquake by the United States Geological Survey, the blast wreaked massive damage on the Middle Eastern country’s capital. Over 220 people were killed and over 6,000 were injured. Approximately 300,000 people have been displaced, and the cost of property damage is estimated at US$15 billion. The Port of Beirut, Lebanon’s largest port, has been rendered useless and twelve silos of grain, containing 15,000 tonnes, have also been destroyed, leaving the country with less than a month’s supply of grain. A crater, 140 m wide, has been left behind.
How did this tragedy occur? The sad answer seems to be negligence. The explosion erupted from a warehouse containing 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, an ingredient sometimes used in the construction of explosives. The material had been stored in unsafe conditions and degraded for seven years after being seized until a fire in the same warehouse triggered the blast.
This explosion is that latest disaster in already-struggling Lebanon. The country, even prior to the economic downturn caused by the global coronavirus pandemic, was experiencing economic hardship. Lebanon’s public debt-to-gross domestic product (what a country owes compared to what it produces) was the third highest in the world, a quarter of the population was unemployed, and nearly a third of the country was living below the poverty line. After raging wildfires and new proposed taxes, during a time where even access to clean water was not guaranteed, sparked mass protests in late 2019, ending Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s government. But now, with this explosion caused by negligence and mismanagement, the Lebanese returned to the streets to protest once again, forcing Prime Minister Hassan Diab, who only gained power in January, and his cabinet, to resign.
Many Lebanese citizens blame their struggles (public debt, lack of basic services, poverty, and now this explosion that has brought the country to its knees) on a rotten and corrupt political system. However, said system must now produce a new prime minister, an action which will not be easily thanks, in part, to Lebanon’s religious sectarianism, which is itself much to blame for the corruption entrenched in the political sphere

Belarus President Alexander
Lukashenko, sometimes referred
as ‘Europe’s last dictator’
Belarus: Demonstrating for Democracy
Protests have erupted in Belarus after incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko was elected to a sixth term in office. Although the government results say he won 80% of the vote, international observers deemed the elections as not free nor fair, a trend in every election except Belarus’s first. Lukashenko has been described as “Europe’s last dictator” and has ruled Belarus with an iron fist since 1994. Since the main opposition candidate, Viktar Babaryka, was barred from running and taken as a political prisoner, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya became the main opposition candidate. She claimed to have won with around 60% of the vote and called on Lukashenko to negotiate on transferring power. All opposition candidates appealed to the Central Election Commission of Belarus (CEC) and called for the election results to be nullified.
Although protests have taken place even before the 2020 presidential election, this year’s protests have been bigger than any other past protest in the country. Hundreds of thousands of people were present in Minsk, the capital, and that number is estimated to have reached 500,000 throughout the country. The rigged presidential election and Lukashenko’s authoritarianism is the main reason for the protests, although other factors such as the government handling of the coronavirus and the persecution of opposition candidates are also factors in people’s discontent. The Belarusian government has attempted to suppress the protests with extreme force. Protestors have been brutally beaten up by police and there have been reports that over 6,000 people have been arrested. Human rights organizations have condemned those events as crimes against humanity, citing extrajudicial arrests and the torturing of protestors. Opposition candidates have been jailed or fled the country, with Tsikhanouskaya fleeing to Lithuania for her own safety. Belarusian journalists have had their accreditation revoked and foreign journalists have been deported as freedom of the press has been under attack by the authoritarian government.
The EU has rejected the results of the Belarusian elections and backs the pro-democracy protests and has recently blacklisted and sanctioned Belarus officials to put pressure on the Lukashenko administration. Many countries in Europe, as well as Canada, have refused to accept the election result, and the US has expressed concern about the legitimacy of the election. Slovakia and Lithuania have joined the EU in imposing economic sanctions against Belarus. Russia has vowed to send military support to Lukashenko as Putin seeks to keep Lukashenko in power for diplomatic reasons; the two strongmen also have close relations with one another.
Time will tell whether the protests in Belarus will lead to the country being a democracy, or whether or if they will be fully repressed and result in Lukashenko tightening his grip even more.

Middle Eastern Evolution
On 13 August, a trilateral agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, along with the United States, was signed, marking a massive step forward in Arab-Israeli relations. This agreement, known as the Abraham Accords, sets out to foster better relations between both parties involved, promoting better security for both countries (especially against external threats), tourism, flights, scientific advancements, technology, telecommunications, cooperation in working for a vaccine to the coronavirus, and other factors. A more comprehensive and in-depth agreement regarding the spheres mentioned above will be formalised soon. Formal ties represented by embassies are speculated to come soon.
This agreement was said to have been pushed by United States President Donald Trump to promote peace in the region. This agreement can also be interpreted as a starting point of better relations between Israel and other Persian Gulf states. Bahrain and Oman have been making similar moves with Israel. With these Accords, the United Arab Emirates became the third Arab country to recognise Israel, the other two being Egypt and Jordan.
Another important objective in the accord was to address any plans Israel had for expansion into the West Bank, as noted by the Emirati government. The use of the term “suspend” by the Israeli government is wording meant to appease any groups that supported annexation. Some of the groups in question have expressed their irritations towards this decision by the government. Israel had originally scheduled plans to formally annex the West Bank territory on 1 July.
Both countries have been taking small steps to normalise relations between themselves, including Israeli officials going on state visits to the UAE, Israeli athletes participating in regional competitions located in the UAE, and Israel also participating in the Dubai Expo.
Despite the advancement of relations between Israel and the UAE, Palestinian-Emirati relations on the other hand, are deteriorating as a result of the accord. Palestinian diplomatic corps were recalled from Abu Dhabi. This accord just put the final nail in the coffin as Palestine observed the slow normalisation of Israeli-UAE relations. The fact that Egypt, who cooperates with Israel in securing the borders of the Gaza strip and Jordan, which also recognises Israel is already enough for them to be rather alarmed with the geopolitical situation they find themselves in.
The United States has also been going back on their status with Palestine, as they moved embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, cut back drastically on aid and the recent peace plan that was interpreted by many Palestinians to be less beneficial to their side. All in all, while this new deal may bring forth better relations between the Muslim community, Gulf States, and Israel, this could signify that Palestine is no longer that important to the interests of a few countries.

Bayern Munich won its sixth UEFA
The 2019-20 football season has finally come to an end as both the Champions League and the Europa League have been wrapped up. Bayern Munich beat Paris SG 1-0 in the final to become six-time champions of Europe, tying Liverpool for third all-time. Their win also gives them a continental treble, meaning they won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the CL all in one season. PSG has fallen short of winning the CL despite spending over €1.30 billion in transfers since 2011, which is the same year that Qatar bought the club. RB Leipzig and Lyon were surprise teams as they both reached the semifinals, with the latter beating the Sheikh Mansour-owned Man City in the quarterfinals. Barcelona got thumped 8-2 by Bayern in the quarterfinals and the Catalan club is now in a rebuild phase. In the Europa League, Sevilla won their record sixth EL as they beat Inter Milan in the finals. Interestingly, the two-leg format wasn’t used for the rest of either competition due to the coronavirus outbreak putting strain on football schedules. The 2020-21 season will start very soon, so expect the next issue to focus on the start of the upcoming club season.
Besides European competition, the football world has been buzzing over the potential transfer of superstar Lionel Messi, currently playing for Barcelona. Messi has been unhappy with his situation in Barcelona and it doesn’t help matters that the club leadership has not done much to address this issue. Man City are the favorites to sign the superstar as he’ll get to reunite with Pep Guardiola, but the question of transfer fees and wages are the biggest obstacles blocking such a big move.
Both the NBA and NHL are having playoffs, but the NBA postponed their games for two days on account of recent developments in the US with more police brutality, racism, and white supremacism going on after the shooting of Jacob Blake. The players pushed for a strike as a form of protest and to push for more social justice reforms. The NHL followed suit by postponing their playoffs for two days as a sign of solidarity, while the MLB has paid tributes to Jackie Robinson and some teams joined in protesting for social injustice.

Hello and welcome to this issue’s National Trivia section! This month we’re covering the US state of Idaho, Lebanon, whose capital saw an unfortunate event destroy the homes and lives of many, and Belarus, Europe’s last dictatorship fighting for democracy.
Idaho’s name is a strange one, with unique origins. Many US states are named for Native American words and Idaho at first appears to be one of these. The name was originally suggested for Colorado Territory by a man named George M. Willing. He claimed the name ‘Idaho’ was a Shoshone word meaning “Gem of the Mountains”. However, this was quickly proven false, hence the territory being named Colorado instead. The name Idaho did not disappear after this initial suggestion, thanks to Idaho Springs, Colorado, and Idaho County in Washington Territory (named after a steamship with unclear links to Willing). Washington Territory eventually became the State of Washington and the remaining areas of the territory were named Idaho Territory, which then became the State of Idaho. The state’s nickname, the Gem State, refers to this made up etymology.
It is a little known fact that a surprising amount of US territory is owned by the federal government itself. The United States Forest Service owns 780,000 km2 of this federal land. Idaho is the state that has the largest amount of its territory owned by the USFS, who own 38% of the state’s land.
The Middle East is well known for its Islamic culture, but that does not mean other religions are not present. While some countries have issues revolving around religious relations, including Lebanon, the country’s Islamic and Christian communities co-exist peacefully. With 40% of the population identifying as Christian, Lebanon has the highest proportion of Christians in the Middle East, and the second highest total number after Egypt, a nation with a greatly larger population of which only 10% identify as Christian. In fact, until somewhere in the early 20th century Lebanon was a majority Christian nation. As a result, the nation’s military’s medical division is known as the Lebanese Red Cross, making it unique in the Muslim world outside of Europe and Western Africa, with the exception of Indonesia.
Lebanon is named after its largest mountain range, which despite being a 160km long mountain range is named as if it was just a single mountain: Mount Lebanon. During the days of the Ottoman Empire the area was dubbed the Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate which later became the State of Greater Lebanon and then the Lebanese Republic as part of the French Mandate of Syria and Lebanon. Upon independence the nation kept the name, Lebanese Republic, which it continues to use to this day.
The draniki, one of the most famous Belarusian
In many news reports you will have seen protesters waving a white flag with a single red stripe. This flag was the first flag of an independent Belarus following the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is based on the colours of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. of which Belarus was a part, and dates back to 1918’s Belarusian Democratic Republic, a failed state on then German-occupied territory. The colours were also based on the Pahonia coat of arms, featuring a white soldier on the back of a white horse set in front of a red background which was used by both the BDR and newly independent Belarus in 1991. The flag and coat of arms were reverted back to that of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, sans hammer and sickle, by President Lukashenko almost immediately after being elected who had the aim of restoring some Soviet nostalgia in the nation. This flag was created originally to distinguish Belarus from other SSRs after they became members of the United Nations, the red represents the USSR, the green represents Belarus and the pattern is a traditional folk design representing happy, hopeful, and wealthy citizens under a rising sun, harvesting wheat, and creating bread.
Belarus has an interesting situation regarding its languages. The nation has two official languages, Russian and Belarusian. While 53% of Belarusians grow up with Belarusian as their mother tongue, as opposed to only 41% with Russian, 70% of the people of Belarus use Russian in day to day life, with only 23% using Belarusian regularly and even then usually while at home.

Week 15- Data Missing
Welcome back everyone! Although it has only been 4 days since the last edition, breaking news has erupted and just cannot simply wait. First of all, elections for the most endorsements in all of NationStates (Delegate of the North Pacific) is up for grabs between 9003, Pigeonstan, Gorundu, Praeceps, and Kranostav, with the latter two being in the lead. For Vice-delegate we have Dreadton, Bobberino, and New Francois, with Dreadton in the lead, and finally for Speaker we have Madjack, Comfed, and Lady Raven Wing, with Madjack in the lead.
Speaking of The North Pacific, after North Pacific Vision 8 ended, the winner, Kartujia now hosts the next North Pacific Vision! And in Europeia, the second edition of the Europeian Basketball Cup is scheduled for December 31st, and all of the nations participating will be selected on September 10th! Ask Baobab-Bumbaria for more about that.
Speaking of TSP, it's coup Tuesday over there, and they actually made a "commie coup." You can now get founded in People’s Republic of the South Pacific and endorse the glorious Chairman Amerion! More info can be found here.
Onto NoN', TRR beat TP, ATOMIC beat Europe, and Big Farma beat Europeia, The Communist Bloc, and The free society of Tic Tacs. The region Dead Sea fell dramatically between September 5 and 6, and NationStates (the region) is still on their long decline since July 10th.
Anyway, Middle Vers is giving propaganda for dictators. Oh man. The TNP Vice-delegate weekly update is out, and the TEP Ministry of culture is having a header & footer contest! In terms of delegates, Theberstan has been elected Delegate of First World Order, Agarath has become delegate of Codex Ylvus, and Nolandisland has become delegate of Lone Wolves United! The featured region today is Lemuria! Congratulations!
Creator's note: The following is a complete joke and should be treated as such.

As you know, the South Pacific has been "Couped by Commies." Uhuh. I'm sure. If so, why are the same people in government? A real coup does not involve the same people. The only thing to say is that the TSP government changed ideologies, but why?
First of all, on this day, September 8th, President of the United States Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon. Some people considered this an act of corruption, so it's only obvious TSP would absorb this aura.
In any case, whatever your opinion on Communism is, the government of TSP will be acting corrupt with it, and here's why: How can you have communism in NS?
Well, you can own all the land. Will the TSP government do anything good with this land? Well, no. If corruption is so prevalent, can you imagine if the government of TSP controlled every nation in it's boundaries? We'd see the RMB of TSP filled up with propaganda about the excellence of Glorious Leader Chairman of the Revolution Amerion, we'd see nations being used as tools by Auphelia as pets, we'd see TSP in complete isolation from it's allies, it will be a disaster.
The government of TSP will tax your Cards by each card's market value, and YOUR card bank will become EVERYONE'S card bank, rather Auphelia's actually, used by her to continue growing her ever-expanding luxury palaces with 500 Bugatti Chirons in her garage.
The army? Serving the revolution? Rather serving the Comintern's every whim, using nations to vote for whatever proposal and coup their 13-year old allies.
Therefore, we need to put a stop to this madness before 'Oh How Glorious Leader' starts turning us into brainwashed sapients, made to fulfill every small need of Auphelia's 20,000 servants.
I rest my case.
Oh, yes, the memes.

[align=justify] So what is COVID-19? Well, it stands for Coronavirus, what is coronavirus? Well, it's a merger of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, a new virus that was first recognized in December 2019. Genetic sequencing of the virus suggests that it is a beta coronavirus closely linked to the SARS virus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses. Some can infect animals, and some can infect humans. Lots of young people are mostly immune to the Coronavirus since their immune system is way better than older people since the older you are the weaker and the older you get your immune system gets worst so mostly it affects more older people since their immune system is worse than younger people's immune system, but now ever since the Coronavirus came and now it has turned as now younger people are getting infected but since they have a strong immune system they heal much faster all they got to do is quarantine, let's talk about some nations which are hardly affected by it, let's start.
The first one is going to be the United states afterall their president is trying to make the country worse and is terrible we hope [box]
The second one right now in India which is getting hit hard normally every day now about 76,000 cases to 87,000 cases the problem with India is that it is a dictatorship and also the fact is that only the rich and get good healthcare and get tested since many poor people live in India and since they can't get tested since they don't have the money they die and also get COVID-19, what the team and I think India should do is provide testing to everyone and also to wear masks since the rich people only have it, most cases in India are caused by poor people since they can't afford good healthcare.
Since we know the top two countries in the world which have COVID-19 cases some countries such as Canada they are opening school's on Thursday which is good and also a 1/3 of most classes will be there in real life and 2/3 will be online learning, now with that let's move on to quarantine.
so in quarantine, it's basically like separating from everyone else so that you don't spread the virus to them, most experts on the virus suggest that you should quarantine for 14 days before getting tested since this helps the person heal from the virus to prevent the spread of it to anyone else. That means you can't go close with anyone you have to social distance 6 feet 2 meters a ratio of 3 to 1 you have to wear a mask when talking to someone since it could spit out germs and also droplets which could infect the person and also you have to stay separate from everyone for those 14 days that means you have to sleep in your room since you can lay germs in other peoples rooms and infect other people but you might think this as depression but no it's not so let's say you want to do normal life here's what you can do.
take a box of tissues since you'll still sneeze for 14 days, but when you come back you have to stay distant from it for 14 days also.
make sure you clean your surroundings since there might still be germs.
you can read about COVID-19 just to know if you have to stay longer in self-isolation if you show lots of symptoms
but hey there's still more to this quarantine guide since you can do all sorts of things! There's an endless list of things you can do! Like for example, you can write a book about your time in quarantine since you can always look back at your days when you showed symptoms,
but anyways the final stage is after 14 days they test you and most likely you end up negative, but why? It's because in those 14 days it gave the time for your body to fight
⭐What you should do⭐
Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) or 2 meters (6 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain the virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose, or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Why? Droplets spread the virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu, and COVID-19.
If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention, and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent the spread of viruses and other infections.
Stay informed and follow the advice given by your healthcare provider
Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow the advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority, or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.
so what is this IAFF? well we'll tell you first of all it stands for The Interregional Association of Football Federations (IAFF), but what does it do? And how to enter? This IAFF is based on discord roleplay and was made by Llorens They also are using discord instead of forums since discord they said is a more accessible platform for engaging fully in this fun and interactive activity. How does it work? The first thing you need to do is you will be asked to create your team lineup and some team details, like your coach and home stadium. If you don't know much about the sport, there are plenty of experienced football nerds willing to lend a hand! Once you have done that, you can get involved in our year-wide schedule, with weekly friendlies and special cups (the World Cup and Mid-Season Cup) every six months. To have a better chance of winning your matches, you can roleplay news stories, team announcements, and match previews or reviews, for example. Each match counts towards the IAFF Rankings! There are some rules thought just to add on since it's a championship so either way, you need to follow rules so let's start with their aphorisms.
First, you need to provide which nation you are and also what region that nation is, and to get in you have to be an IAFF member or just a plain visitor. But how do you become a member of this championship the link is right here and you just ask for membership if you don't want to then you can be a visitor and just watch all the games. Mostly this championship you should watch because it looks like it can stimulate you into going to it once you hit the link button to it, a very zestful thing about it is you can find lots of different nations in it and also regions with nations representing them, of course, we won't but we probably will report fixtures if we want to and we should have a vote whether you want fixtures of just news around nation-states, mostly the newspaper gets better around ideas of the readers.
so who is this Boston castle? Well if you're in the north pacific since the nation is in the north pacific you will know, lately on the North pacific volume awards part one Boston castle was ranked rising star champion what does this mean? That means every time is the volume awards are based on how much endorsements they were given from other nations so basically the more nations you endorse that means the more endorsements you would get back, so then Boston castle was awarded it since that nation has gone on a rampage when it comes to endorsing nations it also surpassed the number of endorsements by other nations which have been in the world assembly longer than Boston castle, but how does it do that? Well, mostly you would go to the North Pacific to get lots of endorsements so the first thing is he or she said in the message is the zen endorse button working? Yes you can endorse people quicker in the north pacific
but how? The first thing you have to do is go to their site and go to the endorse page, then you put in a world assembly nation in the north pacific then you have to hit submit then after on-top of the two tables on the left you should see a button named Zen mode which would endorse the number of WA nations which you didn't endorse your nation, just remember you can't go into a government official in the north pacific's account it just goes into the account you are in, so mainly this would be a good idea to use this in order if you want to get
lots of endorsements and maybe even become a rising star champion which is a very high rank you can consider going to the north pacific since their endo cap is 846 since 85% of the world assembly delegates endorsements so if you want to have a good number of nations endorsing you, you can already consider yourself going to the north pacific website.
The new minion order has been long gone, but anyway it's an exciting topic to talk about! So let's start with the first facts they made a dispatch named the declaration of the new minion order states that the south pacific had built democracy through their region throughout the years they were made until The dastardly Maxtopian Order, who we entrusted with the security of our most sacred institutions, have conspired under the shadows of Democracy to overthrow your beloved Delegate and Supreme Leader. They had hoped to destroy all which we have labored to build, to replace it with a horrendous version of liberal utopia! But their wicked ways could not be hidden from us forever. At last, they revealed themselves for who they truly were.
To our eternal good fortune, loyal forces of the Minion Guard contained this treacherous Maxtopian insurrection. Led by their heroic and dare I say handsome Admiral General, our platoons crushed these would-be usurpers. The remaining Maxtopians shall be hunted down and destroyed! Alas, this attempt on my delegacy has left me scarred and deformed but I assure you that my evilness has never been stronger! To ensure the stability and security of the Coalition, the Republic shall be reorganized into a new force for law and order, into a New Minion Order! They called their order a beacon which would shine through nation-states which would bring peace to the big world and also law and order to nation-states without it, their beacon would help the world regain obedience and harmony building the world again into a better place which would be ruled by supreme minion order Darth Amerion, amerion then dissolved the council of regional security and then turned it into the Council of Grand Minions, amerion also ordered everyone in the region to endorse their Darth
leader amerion and also other minion council members also, in the end, it crossed out for two days and said instead 10,000 years. Well, it only lasted two days so really nothing since of coup Tuesday this happens all the time like a few days ago we had the peoples republic of the south pacific.
the 10,000 islands discord was ruined 16 days ago from today their delegate also the WA general secretary had published a dispatch saying that the 10,000 islands discord was targetted by a person impersonating a member of our Discord moderation team. This impersonator was able to gain access to our entire discord server by impersonating an offline moderator, to the detriment of our region.
This impersonator, once having access to our server, engaged in a destructive action that left our entire server destroyed. All information within our server since it was created in late 2016/early 2017 has been destroyed and is beyond retrieval. Over a dozen members of our server were also banned by them, and we are working on contacting them to re-invite them. We ask that the community please have patience while we work to fix what has been destroyed, and if you know anything please contact us. The sad event of this happening was brutal as members of their discord were banned by this person and sadly now the 10,000 discord moderators have to try and find those people who were banned and we all hope that it goes to normal, but anyways the real story was the person who had made this scheme up had been allowed into the 10,000 islands discord status before this was not the first time the impersonator did this.
Since of the destruction and chaos in the 10,000 islands discord if you even try getting on the messages will not load sense of the destruction that person caused, that's how bad it got, and also it's not lag which causes that you can even try getting to other groups and it would perfectly work fine, we all hope that 10,000 islands can re-call once again.
You might have heard about the hurricane in Louisiana and since one of our writers lives in Louisiana and experienced it here's his story. I was coming back from work going to my house which was in the countryside since I would go fishing every time I finished work. After 30 minutes of fishing and letting them go I walked back to my house where my two sons Oliver and also frank met me with a big hug, my wife came behind of them and hugged me as we walked in, I then flipped on the radio and waited for
I then soon locked the door and turned on a lamp, we had brought sleeping bags as my dad and mom came to bring their chairs. Soon we heard strong gusts hitting our house and thunder striking the waves it was so loud that our house shook like an earthquake. We heard different things torn off and into our house as the destruction just grew soon we heard a big thump soon the sound of our roof exploding, I then heard furniture inside our house getting flung over and fall I went and unlocked the door as it flung open then I take a quick peek and saw a giant tree battered into my roof soon I ran back down as wind entered the house and the ceiling started to tear off I told everyone to stay calm, soon I stayed there as the hurricane got worse soon the door of the basement was going ajar as the wind was really powerful soon the door flung open as leaves tree branches and lots of signs flung in soon we heard a wall break as a tree then batter
the ceiling of the basement. Soon I told my family to run as we toke our supplies and climbed stairs from my basement to our attic,
I then got up as we saw the attic clean as normal, soon we rested there for a few more hours I then looked to see if it was clear and soon realized that nothing happened otherwise the tree smashed our roof turns out that a sign had hit our wall and since we have insurance I'm okay! I also hope that other people living in Louisiana made it safe and hope you survived this hurricane.

Kranostav wins TNP delegate election
Incumbent delegate Prydania chose not to stand due to RL commitments, so it was a race between various other notable members of the region for the delegacy. Former Minister of World Assembly Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kranostav ran a campaign that promised making improvements to the North Pacific Army, more work in the World Assembly to increase TNP's power, and reaching out to UCRs, alongside a sizable amount of domestic policies. Meanwhile former Foreign Affairs Minister Praeceps's campaign focused on administration and culture, with a promise to open up applications to become a minister to the public. Also running was Pigeonstan, former Speaker Gorundu and famous card collector 9003.
The results were fairly close, as Kranostav pulled out an early lead in the first preference votes, but picked up few second and third preference votes, meaning that the race came down between them and Praeceps for the victory. Kranostav just about held on and officially became delegate-elect of The North Pacific while the transfer between delegates happens. In the race for Vice-Delegate, only two candidates stood, Dreadton and Bobberino. Dreadton received over 72% of the votes, winning the race for Vice-Delegate. Three candidates stood for Speaker, Comfed, Lady Raven Wing and Madjack, who won with a commanding 74% of the vote.
There is not much unusual about this election, as the policies proposed by the candidates are standard for GCRs and TNP in particular, yet this is an
interesting time at the moment, as TNP's power and influence grows in the WA. Whether this growth will continue, or will the power of large UCRs overpower this influence, is something that no-one can predict.
Mysterious TBH puppet relocation?
Possibly the most obvious reason would be that it is a new jump point, which is a region where raiders move from into regions being raided, and are used because they update later than all other regions. However, this is quickly disproved as the region's regional officers are not from military regions, such as Thalassia and Refugia. Also, the region updates much earlier than required for a jump point. Another possibility is card farming, but we would probably see much more issue-answering and inter-regional co-operation for card farming is rare.
I think one of the most likely possibilities is N-day. We are already seeing inter-regional alliances being created for N-day, and co-operation between these regions is probably only possible under those circumstances, but we would probably be seeing embassies being created with the involved regions. Also the name is very unusual for an N-day faction. One may suspect the regions are simply trying to hide this information, but this might not be true. There is little need to hide information about N-day factions until N-day itself arrives, by when plans are usually kept secret, aside from the fact that some cannot access means to communicate such as discord, but that is a different matter.
I still see very few reasons why this region has been created aside from N-day or possibly card farming. If this becomes an N-day faction, then it is more proof of what this year's N-day is already shaping up to be. Big inter-regional factions with mass puppet armies. However there are still mysteries, such as why such fundamentally different regions are co-operating, or why embassies haven't been created and why the name is so weird. We will no doubt know soon🟥
How Large are Regional Communities?
Let's take a look at a relatively large defender region, Order of the Gray Wardens. The region has 222 nations at the time of writing. TGW has a purely onsite defender role, known as the Guardians. By looking at the data from these operations, we find that in the past 2 and a half months, 20 nations have taken part in operations. In terms of the wardens, who are the offsite-based defenders, numbers are harder to come by without combing through loads of forum posts. But what we do know, is that these players are not going to be the other 200 nations in the region. A realistic estimate would be about 15-40 nations. Now some puppets are in the region some of the time, but the vast majority are either inactive or simply answering issues.
Now let's look at RP. The Western Isles is a region that is mainly focused on RP, although there is a relatively sizable focus on regional politics. By looking at the region's actively updated map, and using the raw feature and google chrome's find feature, we find that there are 52 nations involved. This is just over a quarter of the region's 192 nations. A safe assumption when including puppets and politics-focused nations would still mean that less than half of the region is involved in regional activities.
To conclude, there is no simple way to work out how many nations are actively involved in regions, because of puppets and some information that isn't available. But I'd say from pure experience of regions that less than half of the nations in a region are involved in activities beyond occasional RMB posts. One possible way to work this out could be election turnouts, but this relies on citizenship, which can sometimes complicate matters. NS was designed to be a game played for a very short time, that's why only 30 issues were originally made, and why RMB posts originally disappeared after only 10 posts. We, the NS community made it into what it is today, through roleplay, politics and R/D. No wonder some new players aren't involved in their regions, or only answer issues. Issues appear as a notification, something that makes the player want to answer them. 'Military gameplay' can sometimes confuse new players, and new players don't always understand RP. Does this matter? Probably not; there's no problem with players just answering issues, although they might go inactive quicker🟥
Sorry about the delay in publishing this issue, both real-life and NS commitments got in the way. Some readers might have noticed a news reporter who has been copying articles from the NationStates Chronicle and other notable news reporters. Please do not upvote these dispatches and avoid giving them too much attention, and hold up reputable NS news dispatches instead.
Have any news stories that you would like to see in here? Then TG me with a brief explanation of what has happened/what you want to be in the story. Please make sure that it is NS-related, interesting to the general NS community and notable. Please do not ask me to make a story about moderator actions. I reserve the right to reject any story that I believe shouldn't be in The NationStates Chronicle.

Hello everybody! A ton of news just flooded in, as what usually happens when I wait a while to publish the next edition. First off, as you probably already know, Kranostav has been elected delegate of the North Pacific! Watch the transition of endorsements here.
Oh, and Noahs Second Country became an issue editor! Congratulations! Anyway, yes, the EuroOlympics are here! Good luck to everyone who participates, of course. N-day is becoming closer and closer, and everybody better get ready. Protect your people!
Seriously, reporters in Max Barry's office claimed the day of nuclear destruction be on September 26th, and last N-day had "The Horsemen of the Apocalypse" in 1st place and Uppercuts in last.
This is what you need to know for N-day. Read it before you, yourself, are embroiled in the conflict! That, or you might be a defense Edit: Strategic specialist and defend nations, or an economic specialist that........ask someone. Basically they can store extra stuff, but some regions do different stuff with them.
Although don't get mad if someone nukes you or blocks your bomb (shield), remember, it's just a game, the other person is also a human, not Max Barry. (Before you ask, yes, we have studies that confirm that Max Barry is not just a human.)
Back on topic, they are fears that the radiation form the bomb will not only kill people, but turn them into zombies around a month later. Yes, actual zombies.
This radiation can do many things, such as making your people have three eyes, one nostril, oh, how terrible.
Now why is the world going into nuclear destruction? We don't know. Although one's thing for sure: This N-day will have some weird factions.
Which faction do you think will win N-day?

NS-news is back!
Take Part in the Largest Survey of NationStates!, Mood of NationStates!
It will hardly take 2 minutes to share your opinions on different issues of NS.
1. First of all, the most curious question, why did you suddenly leave NationStates?
I left NationStates for no particular reason. The site felt without purpose for what I was doing. I worked hard for the environment, health, and equality of and for our planet. I returned from my nearly year-long hiatus to work with a longterm friend, Greenwaters (R.I.P), on the Environmental Protection Council. After 30 odd days without a message or any action from Greenwaters, he oddly ceased to exist from lack of activity. To be truly honest, I returned thanks to Drew Durnil (the Youtuber), seeming someone as famous as he was playing this game, it began to revive what was breaking off. I'm going to work harder than ever to fight for what I believe in, and hopefully, NationStates is with me!
2. As you have returned after a long time, can you notice any significant change in the NS multiverse?
I notice little-no differences and or changes within the NS multiverse. Some regions have come and gone, and some of which I was once very close. It's a shame to see such staple nations and regions go. I've been back for a few months or so, and I've gotten to remember everything here again! And, might I say, it's good to be back!
3. How are you renovating your new region?
I plan on holding more events, sponsorships, campaigns, debates, polls, and such. It's going to be very similar to my last region with a modernizing twist! Hopefully, everyone will like it!
4. Yes, I think it is a good idea, next question. How much support did you receive during your previous mission of 'Green Environment' on NationStates?
I believe that I had a significant amount of support during my previous mission of 'Green Environment' on NationStates. I had well over 100 embassies, multiple events, and close relations and awareness programs and initiatives. I'd like to thank any and if not all the regions that helped me achieve my accomplishments along the way! <3
5. "The most ignored issue in the General Assembly is the concern of Environment." Comment on the statement.
- I'd like to argue against this. The General Assembly has plenty of environmental resolutions, and as long as they continue to have 1-2 per month, then it's a great start. I believe that bigger and better things need to happen! I'm waiting for the day that a huge environmental proposal is put to vote, that'll be a significant change for all of the NationStates!
6. Do you think there is any scope of inducing concern for the environment, your mission, in the politics of regions' gameplay?
This one is hard to answer. In my opinion, the environment should be in the politics of regions' gameplay. If every region helped to spread awareness, it will certainly help a lot! It's important to note that it should be up to each and every region' to decide what gameplay that we want to do.
Yes, the question is quite complex in the terms of gameplay on NationStates.
7. Do you think workshops and other events on NS can help your cause?
I, personally, believe that workshops and other events on NationStates can help my cause of the environment, health, and equality. The more awareness we spread, the better. There's nothing more important than trying, and this one of the biggest steps towards trying!
8. Before we leave, do you have any message for our readers?
As of now, I have no questions for the readers.
Before we depart from their region, we wish good luck to Eco-Paris Reformation and hope more people will join them in their mission.
