Kirby glared at the lone figure that approached him. Was this idiot trying to advertise the deal they were about to make? Heck, maybe he should say it a bit louder, the people down the street hadn’t quite heard them!

Regardless, Kirby very slowly yet deliberately set down the briefcase he was holding, facing the CI agent. He quietly crouched down, undid both buckles, and opened the case, still facing the CI agent. Inside, were thousands of 100 DogeCoin bills, all neatly stacked and bundled.

“As agreed upon, its all here. You can count it if you like, just make it quick. But before we do that, we just want to take some...precautions.”

As Kirby finished saying this, one of his fellow agents approached him. He pulled out from his jacket a rather sleek looking laptop, and very slowly offered it to the CI agent.

“Really simple, just a little test” Kirby sneered, “but you can never be too cautious. All we want you to do is access the server here and now, and shut down the system, for say, “maintenance”. It doesn’t have to be for long, just a few minutes. We just want proof that the information you have is legitimate. But I’m sure that won’t be a problem, now would it?”

Kirby locked eyes with the CI agent, curious to see what he would do. The other agent completed the hand off, and immediately call up, both his eyes and and gun-briefcase trained on the CI agent. Any sudden or wrong moves would be met with... an appropriate response. But hopefully it wouldn’t come down to that. All he need do was access the server, plain and simple. At least, that’s what should happen...

OOC: again, if anything is out of your scope, lemme know
And I decided to post this so we can do a quick back and forth type RP

Ice shot through Alad's back and fire erupted in his face. This group of men was not negotiating a legitimate deal rendering the rules of such deals Alad knew like the back of his hand. Now was a delicate balance between displays of fidelity and displays of strength and prowess. Nora's voice brought upon another wave of calm to the front of the tension.

"Let me handle this. Just keep a smile and don't lose them."

Alad set his briefcase down and produced a small, shiny black drive from his pocket. It was less of a USB, looking more like some kind of switchblade with its thin and somewhat long input.

"Demonstrate." Nora sounded impatient. Anxious, perhaps.

Alad opened the briefcase, revealing a large, hulking military computer. He sat it on a bench aside him and inserted the strange drive-though it didn't actually insert. The drive sprouted small, metallic tendrils that weaved and snaked into the computer. They looked too small, too thin, too flimsy to do anything at all-like a light breeze would blow them from the motherboards and nodes of the computer into the breeze. But moments later, the screen of the computer came to life. A dim white, and then a map appeared. And then slowly, data began to flow in. That was Strangereal. This was SYBIL. The map updated by the seconds-Borderd faded from polygonal lines to their natural, real placement. Data pathways and their shortcuts appeared and icons danced about the screen. Ships, data uplink centers, sensory nodes-Alad interrupted the show as he touched the drive and the tendrils shot back into the drive. He extended it towards the Lizard Squad! men.

"I believe that I've held up my end. It's been a pleasure."

Nora fed more data into his ear and told him not only great compliments of his success, but also a cautionary tale. The FLOOF executives had hired a bug sweep. If the new proxies found the Supple intrusion the Corominans would surely be blamed. Part of him hoped they would so that they would at least have the Corominans distracted enough to make a move against the Corporacratic regime, but he also knew things would likely only get a hundred times worse and a thousand times harder if there was a war-even if unofficial or completely cold.

Penult wrote:
[/b]Route Duc-Dubronique was an unforgiving and unbearable trail that ran from Ferbourg—where the Duke's armies were—all the way to Campione. In Tythedôn, the brigades would reunite with knights from Karé and continue the march to the city. Toussainte led her Republican Brigade through the hills of the Penult-Kingdom, all the while wishing she had brought a caravan to transport herself. The trudging led them onwards, however. By sunset of the first night, the militia had halted in Frasia, or Farasie to the peasants who lived there. An Artisan-folk magistrate from the city came to greet Toussainte, the commander of the entire cohort, and led her soldiery to beds in the hôtels and the taverns.

In the Hôtel-Davantage, several soldiers lay awake, sharing their thoughts.

"I'm not one to criticize the Grandmaster Duke, but I fear the expulsion of the Infras will destroy our commonwealth." A lieutenant spoke.
"I wouldn't be concerned," A captain spoke, "Empires are stable, ever heard of Pax Fuseana? All we need is a unitary, stable dominion."
"I'm proud to have come from Hemmingsmarch, though. And the Infrastructural government has been very helpful in easing transportation and the efficiency of our country." The lieutenant retorted.
"Not necessarily, imagine the highwaymen, the pollution, the ambition. It could easily destroy our commonwealth as easily as a dictatorship could. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying I just don't buy it. The Fusean Empire is a country I'd be even more proud to serve." The captain said.
"Perhaps. But alas, we must sleep."

The lieutenant took off his chainmail and left it beside him on the dirty tavern floor, next to the greasy soldiers which lay all around the place. In the morning, the peasants came from the serf-hostels constructed by the nearby Lordship and saluted the knights as they continued down the Route Duc-Dubronique. When they united with the troops from Karé, the march became even more lethargic and exhausting, but by the afternoon pause they could see Campione from the high-up hills upon which the village of Ky-Saun laid, a dusty old colonial town with nothing more than a vibrant artisanal folk who seemed frustrated that the armies had landed there. The lieutenant and the captain found themselves together at mealtime again and spoke regarding the situation.

"So, What do you think of the Vapians?" The captain asked bluntly.
"I couldn't generalize an entire nationhood, yet those whom I've known—they're nice. One of the knights in my brigade comes from the Jewry in Campione."
"Which brigade are you from anyways?" He asked.
"The Republican." The lieutenant replied.
"You're a dukesman? That's impressive. I myself have had many rough encounters with the Vapians. I honestly think we should stay and occupy the city just to be safe."
"That's absurd! We can't just remove the foreign clientship from Campione, that's grounds for war." The lieutenant said.
"We don't have to ignore the fact that Campione is held in-fief to another monarch, but we can make the city a little more obedient. Like I said, most Vapians I've known have expressed anti-Republic loyalties."
"We can't blame anyone for being that way, they have their own nationhood and culture. It's not as though they are belligerent separatists."
"I beg to differ." The captain spoke.

The lieutenant sighed in disagreement and took a bite out of his lunch. He stared across the village square into the horizon where the Empire-style city stood, right across the bay. He feared greatly what situation he was coming across. Regardless, he placed the leftovers in his pack and joined the cavaliers on the final trajectory towards the city, where the choler of the Lyccenese separatists could be heard from just outside.

The Vapian Ambassador was baffled

"Mere hours ago, the Duke offered, pleaded with us to send forces. Forces that could actually help. Now we are being stiffed by these incompetent fools?"

The ambassador, who had taken over for the prime ministers communications with the Fusean Republic, began writing a new telegram.

"Sir Duke of Fusea,

We will not be talked to like a inferior nation. You have given your consent for sending in forces. We will not let your diplomatic snuff stop us from protecting the lives of Vapians. Dearest Duke, you should understand our anger. We will not sit by and allow the chance of Vapians being harmed be left up to you. We will not recall our forces."

~The Vapian Ambassador to the Fusean Republic, Luciano Bocheli.

The Duke and his war cabinet sat in the senate chambers when the message arrived. The Duke shook his head and appeared frustrated as he went to go and relieve himself through a glass of cold water. He was an alcoholic and could not begin to feel satiated without a glass of the grandest aqua de via. He turned to the minister filling in for Toussainte, who was leading the pacification of Campione—and began to speak.

"What do you suggest?" He said.
"Me, sir?"
"Yes, you. I didn't hire you to think aloud and thus I wish you to give me your honest opinion." The duke replied.

The secretary, Benoît, looked around in shock for a moment and retreated into his mind for a cohesive opinion.

"The Vapian Republic does not appreciate that we are defending her city for her. In that case, I say we let the knights land, help pacify the city, and then begin the integration process later on."

The Duke shook his head, "No, that wouldn't do. We cannot allow any Vapian ships to pass into Campione. They are a force to be reckoned with. They already know how volatile our situation is and may take advantage of it by fully ruling over Campione before us."

"I have an idea, Master Duke." Another official pleaded.
"Go ahead, Secretary."
"We should inform the separatists in Lycceine that we are willing to join them in a two-front campaign against the Vapian naval forces. Once they arrive, we back out and watch as the Lycceinais are obliterated, all the while communicating with the Prime Minister's office explaining the situation in Lycceine."

The Duke shook his head in agreement, "Exhaust the Vapians, and take out our enemies from Lycceine. I like this."

The message of the ploy took three days to reach the brigades in Campione, who had already started to address the riots. The military hospital had been overtaken by Lyccenese patriots already, and it was a slow operation to try and quell the fighting from the outside in. The vigilant citizens of Campione were cautiously defending themselves from the Island of Campione and the Jewry, or Bohemian quarter where the fighting had not reached. Once the envoy has arrived to Toussainte's campsite, she was devastated.

"We are going to abandon the city?" She asked.
"That is the Duke's orders." The envoy spoke.
"Why? The Vapians—reliably, won't arrive until dusk. The entire city will be in the hands of the separatists by that point."
"The Duke told me the meaning of this tactic is confidential, and wishes you to have faith in him."

Toussainte took the message from the messenger-girl's hand and read it with her own eyes, before commanding that the envoy take some water and leave Campione and return to Karé.

"That Duke... What is he up to?" Toussainte muttered.

She looked out upon the merchant-city as it continued to be bombarded by street-duels and canon-fire. She did not want to let the brigades know that it was time to go home.

Oh no... I've failed the NPA :(
