Stupid internet died for a while.

January 16th, 9:00 p.m.
Augusta Kossulminus

Apparently everyone was out to get her.

It was so bizarre, everything shifted from the calmness and general peace down in the Municipalities back to the low-grade chaos that seemed to always follow her around before.

Was she always this hated? Was she always despised enough that people thought it prudent to take her very fate into their own hands?

This situation certainly seemed to provide an argument in favour of that point of view.

She and the security detail provided by the Municipalities had found a viable shelter in the form of a clearly abandoned meadery somewhere in the poorer North side of Novousdomm, though even this place was still too close to Aiklinginion for comfort; as was made evident by the G.S.S making sure to remain alert even as she explored and relaxed in this strange place.

She'd never been here before, but she wasn't bothered to really be stressed about the mystery about it; she had a hunch- a gut feeling, you could say -that there were no hostiles here.

None at all, though she understood that the security detail was more methodical than just following their instincts; that was probably a more effective strategy as a whole.

What did she aim to accomplish here, in this abandoned meadery?

Maybe just…

Rest.

She'd tried to remain composed this whole time, even molding her thoughts around simply thinking calm, but it was… hard…

A tear welled up in her eye, she moved to dry it with her sleeve.

What was she doing here?

She should be in the Municipalities, having the time of her life with Snowrose; enjoying Utopia.

But she just had to be bothered to care enough for this plate of dirt gone too far to return and fix the shady business going around with the nuclear launch codes.

She blamed the I.S.S for briefing her on the situation to begin with, but in her heart of hearts, she knew there was only one individual who deserved the blame; herself.

Why was she here…

She should've-

She'd just asked herself why she was in Pathonia and what she was doing here three times in a row without answering herself.

What could be distracting her?

She was safe, she'd made herself think that by acting all calm and such upon entering this place, so it couldn't be some rogue feeling of-

She wasn't safe.

She was in danger.

She could die.

She could die, and lose Snowrose forever.

No, no, no, and no.

She was safe, calm, alive; everything was well.

Perfectly fine. Everything was perfectly fine.

But she couldn't shake the feeling that she could lose Snowrose at any moment.

There might've been a drone trained on the structure right now with a missile lock on her head; and she'd haven't the slightest inkling about it.

Nothing was safe.

The whole abandoned meadery was trained to blow up.

The bottles were filled with toxic gas with the lids all timed to pop out simultaneously.

No-

Calm down. Clear your mind. There is literally no point in thinking about pessimistic possibilities with poor chances of even playing out.

But as she tried to empty her head, it only came to be filled with even more nonsense.

The room she was in began to feel like it was both absurdly tiny and incredibly massive at the same time, giving her the feeling of being trapped and of drifting in an infinite endless void at the same time.

It hurt her brain just thinking about it, she stumbled to a wall to get a hold of herself.

But it wasn't a wall at all, she ended up toppling a series of shelves over like dominoes, creating a sound more akin to gunshots than shattered bottles every time the dozens of vessels previously supported by the shelves hit the floor and spilled their mead.

Eyes.

She was being watched.

Picking herself up from the ground while brushing the various tiny glass shards from her robe-like attire, she looked around wildly; all the while trying to disguise the incredible amount of panic and confusion she was feeling.

She couldn't calm down, which was the one key to not flipping the heck out.

The shadow of a tall figure by the window cast itself toward her, she prepare to cast Smite onto it and burn the whole building down in the process-

It was a coat stand.

Since when was that there?

The shadow had just gotten into place, there's no way that it was always there.

So much for calming down, she'd never felt more panicked about literally nothing very before.

Darn. The G.S.S detail was going to pop up at any moment in response to the clattering of the shelves.

Or simply to continue guarding her, as they were meant to be doing. She was surprised that she'd managed to be alone for this long to begin with.

What was she doing again?

She hadn't the slightest clue. Something stupid about why she must've been here, and what she was doing with the most important thumb drive in the country.

Such a tiny little thing, she could easily destroy it and just be done with all these shenanigans.

But at the same time, she now held power…

True power.

Why wasn't she fighting her way out of this place again?

She was a powerful mage, right?

Unless the opposing side didn't care about the drive- which isn't really true -then she should be untouchable.

No bullets or electric shocks would hit her, lest the drive somehow get corrupted or destroyed.

She went to the floor above this, into the attic, so as to avoid any distractions as she gained a newfound interest in inspecting the drive.

Narrowly avoiding a cluster of G.S.S agents making their way to where she had just spilled a large amount of perfectly fine mead, she ended up in the one room she wanted to be in.

Dust-covered, as all attics should be, with the perfect combination of mystery and comfort.

It didn't feel too small or too large, she wasn't being compressed or left to drift; only left with the simple grey cloths covering creaky wooden boxes.

She began to think that it was the abnormal heat that made it so comfortable. It felt like a dry summer's day in the midst of a sprawling grassland, like what she imagined Pikrtri or Salissia to be in that same season.

No, she hadn't experienced a dry summer quite yet, or at least not one that was hot and dry at the same time.

Snowrose's face popped into mind, and she felt herself turn pink.
That's why the heat was so reassuring. They'd spend long amounts of time in Castle Honyay together with the heat cranked all the way up- it was cosier than she would've first imagined.

What must Snowrose be thinking right now, with having Augusta just run off with no warning.

She felt guilty about not telling her that she was going to conduct such a risky excursion into Pathonia, and telling her…

What's the point?

That was all in the past, no point in dwelling on if she told her that she might not make it if she was going to die anyway.

If she knew that for a fact, which she seemed to feel with every passing day, she'd just give up.

Stay put somewhere, let a faceless puppet kill her in an unremarkable alleyway; just end it with an unimpressive thud.

Oh how simple that'd be.

But another part of her had that feeling which was equal parts tenacious and annoying, hope.

How come she always returned to thinking about death?

She was beyond convinced that her brain was screwed over now.

If she couldn't achieve calm, then she'd at least try to breathe more steadily.

Strategy two, so she remembers, was to stop breathing like she was hyperventilating. This might've marked the first time that she actually recognised that her breathing was abnormal during one of these incidents. Not nightmares, those were something else entirely, but…

Yeah, the term 'incident' seemed to fit it nicely. Overthinking, maybe even something as absurd as wallowing in self-pity. She wasn't all that adept at labelling herself or her thoughts and feelings.

Thoughts and feelings…

It sounded frivolous.
Somehow she was worth enough that Snowrose cared about her, despite what she herself t-

Author chose to switch POVs at this point. Much obliged if this isn't factored into critiques.

Whew.

Everything seemed just a bit brighter now.

I should go check up on what the G.S.S agents were doing.

Moving towards the stairwell, she heard a click.

Metallic, heart-stopping, the click of a gun with its safety removed. It came from behind-

"I've been waiting so INCREDIBLY LONG for this, Augusta."

He certainly was using the kind of vocabulary and speaking style that I'd heard from other POCKET members, though he also was alone; a distinct difference from all the other POCKET members she'd encountered, who usually had at least some form of backup in the rear.

"I'd expect you to at least say something… Or have I terrified you to the extent that you've gone mute?"

Just… breathe, and then ready.

Need to brace myself, it's been a while.

Smite Major

A streak of lightning came streaking downwards from the sky, cracking the wooden roof and catching this clear amateur off guard.

But then he appeared in front of me.

Footsteps, the G.S.S detail must've realised that I should probably be tended to.
Though, I don't blame them, I think I've gotten good enough to slip away from them for at least a quarter hour.
And it seems, by the look of the dusty clock to her left, that's exactly how much time has elapsed.

"I don't apologise for this. But I will give you a warning."

Finally!

He had the bloody witch in his sights, and the kick he delivered to her gut was so very satisfying.

The look on her face? Absolutely priceless.

As it was though, it seemed that Augusta hadn't come alone, maybe he could use her as a…

Didn't other POCKET members try this strategy?

He didn't recall it ever working for them.

Well, except for the D'Croix case, but that was special…

…Right?

If he was going to possibly lose Augusta here, and maybe even die in the process, he was going to do as much damage as he could.

It came in handy knowing all the former POCKET contractors involved in medicinal science.

Though, if this was medicine, then nobody would really be alive to call it that.

Obtaining a syringe from a pocket that was perhaps made a bit too tight- or he'd just been overeating, the fall of a crime boss and most of his friends being arrested does that -Milo moved to inject the pinkish retribution.

And then a gunshot, right past his shoulder.

He might've just been seeing things, but it looked like; if even for just an instant; that there were a dozen Cetiri Oltasina's pointing taser-like things at him, with about one or two of them holding rod-like things as if they were staves that could magically ward him away.

If he was more of an expert at magic than his current skill set showed of simply being able to conjure up weak hallucination-like illusions, then he'd be able to handle this horde of enemies with ease.

But of course, he never had the inclination to further his magical ability, that was what Cormorant had been for while she was still around in POCKET.

So, he had Augusta at his mercy, her security detail looking to retrieve her, and himself who wants nothing more in the world but the kill Augusta and live a pleasant life thereafter.

Clearly he wouldn't be able to get everything he wanted, and it was beyond frustrating that this was th case.

He'd changed since his days as a wholesome friend to Sovinn and being his getaway driver in their plan to destroy the IPOM back in August, becoming more and more like how Sovinn became when he was angry; unfocused and deranged.

Well…

Not deranged, no, he knew his capabilities and his limits well enough that he wasn't completely wild and untethered.

Only one of the options which the situation presented would be allowed to occur.

Augusta's retrieval, Augusta's death, or his own survival.

Did he not factor in the chance of his own death?

Right, he had; that occurs simultaneously alongside the first two options.

Though, perhaps he could discreetly damage Augusta enough that she'd have no choice but to die, turn her over to these fine Antarctican annoyances, and then be able to flee.

Plan of action obtained, secure his own survival above anything else.

He wasn't going to get any future chances at killing this woman if he was lying dead in the attic of a decrepit meadery.

And then something fell out of Augusta's formerly tightly clenched hands that changed everything.

Except he was more concerned with negotiating his way out with his life. Milowan didn't see any point in bothering with whatever trinket had just fell out of her grasp.

Agent Willard

He wanted nothing else in the world but to leave Ceta's office right now and lock himself in his home indefinitely.

It was mainly accidental, this whole incident, but that didn't seem to temper Ceta's fury very much.

How could Willard possibly have known…

…That the Chief of the I.S.S…

…Considered him a close friend?

And he'd gone ahead and nearly got himself blown to bits by supposedly out-of-service landmines south of Pallixordum.

Ceta wasn't really furious so much as she was distraught and oddly teary, which only further baffled Willard.

He didn't want to bother with getting himself intertwined into some kind of high-level government scandal, so he continued to press that he could simply go home, and that the two of them would be better off considering this whole episode in her office to have never happened.

But Ceta, strangely enough, was equally insistent in continuing to talk about how much she cared for Willard.

The same Willard that she'd just months ago been content to tie to a hypersonic pigeon and launch from a moving train.

Life was… Strange, at times.

It only got stranger when she began to laugh from her previous position of intense rage and sadness.

Opting to take advantage of Ceta briefly composing herself by wiping her face with her sleeve, Willard disappeared from Ceta's office as briefly as he'd shown up, and equally as silently as well.

He had a mission from her after all. An unexpected one to be sure, but still one that could likely be considered safer than removing landmines.

Augusta Kossulminus was back in town, and he had to corral her here to the I.S.S Headquarters in Novousdomm.

Well, that was the second priority, arguably the easiest of the bunch.

First and foremost was the incredibly difficult goal of actually securing Augusta. Step zero, of locating her, had already been done by some form of scouting regiment; though the mere term 'regiment' likely meant it was from the Armed Service, and the current times weren't exactly casting positive light over them right now.

It was a meadery, long shut down as a part of Wintroth consolidating his business in the Tujian Isles, somewhere in the northernmost suburbs of the GAMA.

Taking advantage of the abundant transportation options at his disposal, Willard opted to head over in what could only be described as the most average black sedan one could ever lay eyes on.

It'd help him blend into the poorer settings of that northern sector, and stealth was implied as a part of the mission due to how there would be hostiles seeking to harm Augusta and therefore any assistance trying to reach her.

Milowan

Alright, the plan, he had to somehow negotiate with these people.

Didn't Antarcticans only speak Japanese?

Something around monolingualism- He wasn't an avid enough reader to figure out the cultural messes of other countries, let alone that of Pathonia.

"Uhh… Konichiwa? Hi? You idiots speak English?"

"Indeed we do. Now, before we proceed, we highly suggest that you set Ms. Kossulminus down in order to begin these negotiations."

They took control of the situation just like that. He should'e said more in his first sentence, something along what his demands were, but he was far too confused on whether or not these people spoke English to offer anything more.

But, for their demands, he knew what he would do.

He popped the cap-like thing off the syringe (it'd been placed to avoid flooding himself with whatever the substance was-) and moved it closer to Augusta's forearm.

"As you can see, I'd rather not let go of my prize."

"Your prize? We have the ability to annihilate you on the spot if you don't hand her over. Tell me, what's the bigger prize? Augusta, or your life?"

No, no.

Nope.

He wasn't backing down because of some threats.

He was going to get whatever he wanted from this situation, and he was going to die trying.

Milowan pushed the needle into Augusta's arm, but didn't yet push the fluid into her arm.

His curiosity wanted to know… What was the plan for these people? Surely they would've known that all this failure would eventually turn him into a fanatic wanting his goal at all costs- right?

"Am I to expect death if I do this?"

"And a blissful care-free life if you don't."

Care-free…

No cares in the world.

Eternal bliss. Happiness, pure joy.

He could just leave his past life behind, he could walk away from it all.

He could just LEAVE and NEVER COME BACK!?

There was a certain allure to that…

He was just relaxing thinking about.

Maybe he would accept it.

Yeah, maybe he would accept that deal which these Cetiri Cosplayers had proposed to him…

Maybe he will accept it!

So he began to talk:

"You guys have a d-"

The weight of his relaxed thumb, no longer held back, pushed every millilitre of the pink liquid into Augusta.

His final thoughts?
Certainly not as refined as he'd like them to be, but regardless… He had done it. And he was proud to have furthered humanity from the white phosphorous witch's yoke in the process.

"A dead man is more alive than all the demented b****** in the world put together one hundred times over."

Milowan was immediately shot straight in the forehead by the lone G.S.S agent to have bore a gun in the group.

Agent Willard

Apparently the situation had gotten more dire, as a contact had told him en route to the meadery.

It would be more prudent to just leave the car in the middle of the road and storm the building like a one-man army instead of taking the little bit of time to find an adequate parking space to park the vehicle.

The only weapon that Willard brought was the relatively new Greyking 12.7 millimetre monster of a heavy machine gun.

The Archive report on the incident in Pathonian Britain where some random POCKET had gotten ahold of one of these things showed that it was beyond effective, performing several orders of magntitudes higher than the initial test runs had shown.

Yes, it might've been ammunition hungry, and it most definitely took its time cooling (it also wasn't very efficient at using said coolant-); but the Greykind seemed like the best tool for the job.

There was the possibility that this event could mark the resurgence of the Pathonian Organised Criminals who Keep Ends Tidy.

Augusta might just be one of those ends.

And he was certain they weren't talking about tidying up her appearance…

Right-

If this was a resurgence-type event, then there were bound to be more hostiles than the lone "Milowan" his mission briefing had described to him.

How was he going to haul the ammunition alongside him?

A handily borrowed shopping trolley, of course!

The meadery was strategically positioned to have several large grocery stores within a ten minute driving radius, it didn't take much time to divert from his direct path to nab one such trolley to drag over here.

How would he haul coolant?

He wouldn't!

The Greyking could be air-cooled, with the only major cost being that he'd have marginally reduced performance.

The only real people who would care for cooling the Greyking were organisations concerned with obtaining every possible edge over their opponents, such as the Armed Service and whatever other branches of the Military employed the Greyking in their service.

Well, them and those who wanted to unleash high-powered chaos.

Willard would subscribe to the latter method of thinking, if he had any coolant to begin with. He hadn't brought any precisely because he thought he wouldn't be able to haul it. But considering how much ammunition he ha brough, which now appeared to only use up about a third or a half of the cart's total space, Willard now began looking for water sources near him.

Of course, water wasn't the perfect coolant, there were highly engineered synthetic liquids which would be able to provide massively upgraded benefits in comparison to water; but he wasn't in possession of any such coolants.

The garden hose would have to do.

Willard unwrapped the hose from the stand on the side of the meadery, plugging on end to a tap located in the wall and dragging the other to the Greyking.

The hose was long enough that it felt like he could traverse every square metre within the meadery (judging from the size of it) and then still have plenty more to go.

Perhaps it was the engineer team's intent, but the hose managed to reject fitting into the cooling slot of the Greyking in the most absurd of ways no matter which direction he oriented it.

If he tried to jam it in there, he might end up denting the metal sheet keeping some of the components of the ammunition loader together; so he didn't bother.

He'd just jam the nozzle in between the bars of the side of the shopping trolley and hope that enough water sprayed into the slot to provide some kind of meaningful boost.

If not?

Well…

Whatever.

He'd just have to ponder the question of why the meadery had a garden hose to begin with; consdering how the establishment had no greenery on the outside to even think of tending to.

Willard pushed the trolley (Greyking was situated atop it, belt ammunition pulled upwards with the hose angled to spray into where coolant would otherwise flow) towards the door, and entered.

Immediately, he spotted someone clad in maroon with a silver sash slung from shoulder to hip.

Whoever she was, she gave a striking resemblance to the Primary Governor of the Municipalities of Antarctica, Cetiri Oltasina.

Willard realised she was an Antarctican. Perhaps G.S.S

Augusta had come with a security detail.

And before he could try and vacate himself from the premises, she was already approaching with her taser drawn.

Augusta Kossulminus

Her head was spinning.

She felt like she was going to vomit-

There she went. Spewing all kinds of gross things on the floor.

Not that she could see any of it. Augusta thought she was going to explode if she opened her eyes, she had a massive headache.

Jackhammers and woodpeckers all trying to slam her skull open.

If she could scream, she would; but as it was, she was in the process of just… being sick; she wasn't able to talk-

-=-=-

Okay.

Alrighty.

This was a nightmare. The subtle shift in the colour of the blackness she could see behind her shut eyelids were proof enough, she'd figured out that her nightmares could often be detectable in that almost imperceptible change.

The earlier she recognised it, the better she could ride it out. Now… What was she feeling?

She felt different-

The headache was still there, but she couldn't seem to feel or sense in any way whether or not she was still puking.

Augusta hazarded opening her eyes, and immediately regretted doing so.

It was as if her pupils had been dilated, everything seemed brighter through her being able to perceive more light.

And it was spinning, she perceived everything shifting around her at such an incredible speed that it could only weakly be explained as herself being somehow located within an out-of-control saceship.

Immediately, Augusta just opted to shut her eyes again.

No point in getting caught up in all the sensations of the nightmare and whatever craziness her mind wanted her to experience.

These were curses, so she'd treat them as such.

Avoid them whenever possible, such as now by not making herself dizzy and sick by all those rapidly spinning stars on the rapidly revolving film tape speeding before her eyes in the black void of-

She vomited again.

It must've been the right call, somehow, as it ended up dulling the pain of the headache significantly.

Rather than feeling like her skull splitting open, it had transitioned to a mere annoying buzz.

Not that she could truly grasp how much better her headache had gotten, for now it felt as though she'd have to face a continuous string of chills and shuddering.

Cold-related symptoms.

Hmm…

Augusta couldn't help but smile a little in her mind's eye, she'd managed to maintain some level of thinking throughout this whole experience; and had managed to not go crazy.

She felt pretty alright…

Letting go of the memory of all that excessive vomit proved to be key, dwelling on the painful past (no matter how recent it may have been) didn't do anything more than loose new pains upon her.

Then…

Oh.

Augusta felt herself get pink in the face, her ears began involuntarily twitching.

All of the incredibly uncomfortable feelings of her headache and whatever caused her to shudder had vanished, and were replaced with the sensation a heartwarming touch…

She was sitting in an leather armchair placed in front of a blazing fireplace, the heat of the fire warmed her in a way that few things could.

Not in a superficial way, such as by covering herself in a blanket and gradually countering the cold, but rather in such a fashion that she thought her very bones were being gingerly massaged like dough destined for the oven by a careful baker.

A tingle in her stomach spread both down to her feet and up to the very ends of her hair, it was a pleasant feeling she often only associated with her most cosiest of moments with Snowrose.

It felt amazing.

She could be here forever…

Was this even a nightmare?

This could very well be just an amazing dream instead, though she had to stop herself from fully enjoying the experience of basking in the heat of the fire to note that this could all flip to something totally chaotic and brutal in the blink of an eye-

-=-=-

...

Why did she even bother…

She just had to say something, didn't she?

And now she was in what she recalled to be living hell.

Her cell, maintained by the Ministry of Internal Security, with its anxiety-ridden screen-walls depicting ludicrous scenes of the cosmos.

They made her feel tiny.

They made her feel insignificant.

They made her weak.

She'd never felt closer to the reaper right now.

She could let go of the cliff of life and throw herself down there.

Right. Now.

But she couldn't.

No, she wouldn't.

Why not?

She lived solely to experience life with Snowrose.

If she wasn't going to be able to see her anytime soon, if she wasn't going to ever make it back to her lovely grasp, then she simply wasn't going to die.

Augusta would never die willingly unless it was in her Queen's arms.

It might've just been the lighting, those flicking fluorescent bars, but she already was feeling incredibly stressed just being in this room.

Thud

Her brain had just been blown out of her skull, hadn't it?

A demon must've finally drilled past her ear and drained her head of anything useful, right?

Someone finally lopped her head right off, and was actively trying to activate as many pain signals in her brain as possible.

This wasn't a dream.

This wasn't a nightmare.

The only suffering that could exist on this scale thrived in reality; and reality alone.

...

She only had this meek little voice in her head.

A squatter setting down roots in her own mind.

She didn't want it here, but anything- ANYTHING -outside of the real world would provide immense comfort.

Even little voices, such as this.

Tiny narrators, telling her tale for both the Gods above and below to find sick gratification in her current predicament.

It's one of the core reasons she despised religion, after all.

Though, even the word 'despised' might not encapsulate what her least destructive rages considered religion to be.

The Gods, or singular God, depending on which string of the tapestry you pull, do nothing but live in their stiff marble thrones, dilapidated pages of holy books, the hearts and minds of ignorant supposedly 'enlightened' worshippers.

Nothing.

No divine reckoning for the wicked.

No divine reassurance or blessing for the poor.

No divine inspiration or guidance for the ordinary.

And certainly, most certainly out of every bloody thing she knew, nothing for the most tormented soul to ever walk the circle of life; Augusta Kossulminus.

Yep.

She just thought that.

She just considered herself to be the most cursed person to have ever lived.

And she didn't consider that a selfish or arrogant label; for in this moment, she was simply clinging to whatever slim truths she could to keep herself from diving headfirst into the most tangibly cruel end of her mind's pool.

That pool may have very well be the root of what made her tick, what caused her to end up becoming so…

Disappointing.

Terrified.

An abject failure against every standard one could measure her to.

Not only was she not worthy to hold the trust and confidence of others, but she could no longer trust even herself.

Remove even the tiniest of restraints from the fabric of behaviours and desires that made up Augusta and she would turn into an uncontrolled psychopath.

Was it true for any person?

Perhaps.

Yet she believed that without her ability to self-reflect, regulate, and keep her inhibitions in place; she would turn out to be the among the wildest of humankind.

Right up there with the obsessive lovers and clinicaly insane…

January 16th, 9:35 p.m.
Agent Willard

Brilliant.

He hadn't the foggiest idea how, but he'd managed to marshal enough willpower and finesse in order to convince the Antarctican taser-woman not to kill him.

Of course, it was all thanks to his posture.

And that whole convincing thing was in his mind, believe it or not.

She was still holding the taser so that it just lightly brushed against the part of his uniform which covered his heart.

After briefly seeing his armband and shoulder patch, two of the most distinguishing marks of an I.S.S agent, she actually spoke to him, rather than what he expected to be a heart-stopping tase.

"Why are you here?"

Context for the following part, should the reader not have read "Love, Destiny, Hatred."
Willard's voice was turned into a ball by Sovinn or Cerhenea and Augusta Kossulminus stepped on it while trying to apprehend Gadwin Heartwick on a train.
So… the voice is gone, the ball having been destroyed upon being stepped on.

Willard tried to mouth some kind of response, but he only succeeded in resembling a fish out of water with how rapidly he mouth was opening and closing.

Confirming his earlier thoughts on her being a G.S.S agent, she asked again.
But not before taking a brief amount of time to think and calculate things that he could scarcely comprehend.
He felt that there was more to this person than met the eye, which might've been true for most people; but he felt it incredibly keenly with this one…

"Are you a mute?"

A mute.

How rude.

Of course, that was what he was, he was a mute.
But she could've phrased it in some way such as, "Are you unable to speak, sir?"

Not feeling too eager to be tased, or in any other way attacked by this Antarctican, Willard nodded; though he didn't quite appreciate her tone.

She backed down, and produced a sheet of paper and a pen in her hands after rummaging through a series of pockets- though Willard noted that he'd also look just as awkward in her position; considering he wouldn't be able to explain himself and what his intentions were.

"Try to fill me in on why the I.S.S even bothered to send someone, and how did they know where to find us?"

Us.

Perhaps the most important note to make, Augusta had more than one Antarctican in her security detail; or she alone was the other person referred to by 'us.'

Just to slightly irk the G.S.S agent (he was convinced she was a part of the G.S.S now- earlier he had only been leaning heavily towards that prospect), Willard opted to answer the questions in reverse order.

And so he wrote down how the I.S.S maintained constant observation of Augusta no matter where she went, and kept an agent within several kilometres of her position at all times (save for when she flew, the I.S.S had no aircraft with which to maintain this agent or even get them onboard if they are needed).

Why did the I.S.S sent someone to help Augusta?

Because, she needed saving.
Obviously.

The I.S.S was meant to be the most reliable asset the Empress could have, they were of no use whatsoever if they couldn't even help the Empress face a potential threat on her life.

The G.S.S agent, still unnamed- Willard should've requested her name on the paper as well -read what he wrote about two times over; before glancing at the shopping trolley laying toppled on the side nearby.

The Greyking was halfway through being dismantled, and with this agent being the only one around (he'd seen her the whole time, notably she did not take time to try and pick apart the pieces of the Greyking); Willard became slightly suspicious at the fact that she might not be alone here down in the lobby, like he thought she was.

The ammunition was scattered across the room, and the hose had been spewing water nonstop to the point that the floor had become slick enough for the briefest of motions to result in-

A sudden weakness in his legs, Willard recognised his trajectory immediately and tried to swerve, but only ended up making his position worse; and he got ever closer to landing atop the G.S.S agent.

Coincidence could be a real pain in the rear sometimes.

The taser- fortunately set only to a stun setting -tagged both of them via the omnipresent thin veneer of water before they could hit the floor.

She wouldn't remember what an embrassment he, the mute, could end up being sometimes. That much was fortunate.

And even if there were the Gods.

The ones of equally opposite malevolence and benevolence

Even if there were the Gods of the underworld and the mythical 'heavenly afterlife,' why didn't they do anything more?

The texts always show them in their prime, with grandiose powers to have made the Earth, the Stars, Pthadmoia, the Universe in its entirety.

If even four thousand years had passed since the beginning of time, then the Gods would be older still; perhaps four thousand and thirteen years if they opted to begin creation as a teenager.

It's absurd.

Having wraith-like (definitely non-human) males and females staring upwards and downwards at humanity in evil desire or gross contempt.

She'd heard people call the Gods random.

But she didn't buy into that-

One could pin any natural phenomenon as a work of the Gods, yet they themselves had managed to conserve the gift of spontaneity and free will for themselves.

If humans were made in their image, then they would be able to have these abilities too; no?

All this is to say:

The Gods care not for these fickle mortal affairs.

She already knew this of course, but running through her reasoning kept her sane enough to not try and smash her head against a wall to wring out the headache which had been searing her brain so much.

But as her ideal death of peacefully drifting off to the realms of the reapers only came to be more and more a fiction of fantastic proportions as time went on…

…Augusta couldn't help but wonder…

…Had she shed enough tears?

Strangely enough, Augusta considered these questions to be methods of avoiding going off the deep end, so with her sole obsession becoming these questions; she may have ended up inadvertently going their anyway.

So she was off the deep end.

No option allowed her not to go off the deep end.

Augusta had definitely shed enough tears, but only in the past during the times where she was far more a novice at handling her own thoughts.

She came to be more exhausted and spent after every nightmare, she lost the willpower to let those most tightly packed ice chunks called 'emotions' flow freely in watery catharsis.

What better time than when she felt like she'd die at any moment?

If she could be knocked unconscious by this pain, she probably would've been unconscious by now; the only next step was death.

She screamed.

January 16th, 12:30 p.m.
Agent Willard

The Empress was quite a bit lighter than he'd imagined.

Not to say that she externally appeared to be any heavier than what she was-

Just that she was lighter than he'd thought.

Though she may been lighter than he expected, that didn't mean carrying a twenty year old woman was any easier.

It took the assistance of that one G.S.S agent who he'd come to so closely affiliate with to carry Augusta into the rear seat of Willard's (technically the I.S.S's, but who cares- pffft) sedan; which Willard wouldn't admit to be slightly embarrassing despite how he thought it to be exactly that.

The plan was to meet up with a gathered force of remnant "Am See Oh" (she pronounced the individual letters which such speed that he didn't quite catch it, but he wasn't one to ask the same question twice) and then distract the entire joint mage and Armed Service force at the Eopullion Stone enough for the entire G.S.S detain, Willard, and Augusta to get out and go to Southampton for a flight to Hii.

Why Willard?

He'd only be needed to help secure Augusta while they were in Pathonia, he could go back to Pathonia after the matter was settled.

January 16th, 1:00 p.m.
Agent Willard

They'd just arrived at a point several kilometres north of the Eopullio Stone in Grand Aikling Circus.

There were far fewer mages than he'd first anticipated there being at the Stone itself, most of them seemed to just be milling around with the entirety of the hundreds of Armed Service members on the blockaded road.

Willard understood now.

The mages kept the stone closed for magical teleportation or provided some kind of anti-Augusta service (he knew next to nothing about magic- he didn't know why he had to combat these people), while everybody else kept everyday civilians at bay.

They wouldn't expect a sedan and several privateered mail trucks to come driving in at full speed.

So, ramming through the blockade would temporarily stun all the hostiles, but how would they carry Augusta throw the stone in a timely enough matter?

The two of them had only managed to due it clumsily, they had to be quicker and more precise than clumsy in order to get her throu-

Augusta began to scream like a maniac, before immediately bolting awake and hitting her head on Willard's driver seat.

"Ow."

At least the bonking of her head stopped the screaming. Willard could've strangled her if she'd kept it up any longer. Why did she scream like a twelve year old having a tantrum?

"Good afternoon, Ms. Kossulminus."

"Good afternoon, Snow!"

That might complicate things.
It might've just been him, but Augusta appeared to be a tad bit loopy for the timy being.

Maybe hitting her head was not the ideal solution to stopping the screaming.

Willard and the G.S.S agent were now left with someone who seemed beyond confident that the G.S.S agent was in fact her love interest.

"I am not Ms. Icilfer, Augusta."

First name?
Really?

Willard would say something about consistency- but… well, y'know. He can't talk.

"You sure 'bout that, Snow?"

"Yes."

Then the agent threw a pen from Willard's coat pocket at her.

Augusta went back to her deep slumber.

Willard wrote on the paper the agent had provided him and asked why she had just did that.

"It saves us a future complication. I don't want to have to pretend for so long only to break her reality in a fashion far ruder than a pen-induced concussion."

Fair enough.

Boom

January 16th, 1:10 p.m.
Augusta Kossulminus

She was flying.

Had the Gods finally reached their withered hands down to grab her?

Was she completely done with this life?

Completeness…

She could never be complete.

Not without her Queen.

She had to live.

She had to get down.

She had a million things she hadn't yet done.
So many things…

Unable to pick one, yet knowing she had many; Augusta opened her watery eyes.

She was flying?

Ope-

Nope.

She was falling.

That was the ground, right?

The ocean surface?

No?

So…

She was still flying.

Despite feeling everything shift the other way.

Now she was spinning.

Blue, grey, white, black, blue, bit of speckled green- were those trees?

Oh.

Oh no.

This was a nightmare again, wasn't it?

No, no, and no; nope.

Not a nightmare.
Not spinning- that part was in her head.
Definitely was falling.
Now she was on the ground.

Augusta hoped beyond hope that she hadn't broken something.

The last thing she wanted was for some cruel wizard to torture her by further breaking her body down.

But for now, she breathed.

Terra Firma.

Reality.

She knew the rules of the real world.

She was safe he-

Boom

The car she swore she'd just seen in a dream with Snowrose flicking a pen at her forehead came crashing down into a moving column of mail trucks.

All four of them were damaged, and far more people than the expected dozen-or-so agents who were a part of her G.S.S detail came flooding out of them.

An I.S.S agent who she recalled seeng at some point but never fully met was laying…

Below her?

Augusta scrambled onto her feet, taking a few steps back- seeing how miraculously the agent had somehow cushioned her fall whilst only receiving pretty modest injuries (she knew not how high she'd been flung. Could've been two metres, could've been twenty.)

Strange, how resilient the physical human body was.

Though, Augusta was anything but physical.

She could be beat to a pulp by even the scrawniest of wrestlers if she'd somehow lost her magical abilities.
Without them, she was toast.
Augusta stumbled against a brick wall, briefly feeling as though she'd lost balance.

Black dots clouded her vision, she shook her head to clear them away, but only ended up dizzying herself more.

Then that very same I.S.S agent picked her up with what appeared to be no effort at all, and began jogging to the Eopullion Stone.

She didn't see many- if any at all -dead Antarcticans through what vision she had, but plenty of wounded from whatever crazy spells mages were using nowadays.

And definitely a lot of Pathonians dead or wounded.

She didn't feel the least bit of pity for them.

Maybe she could help out?

Yeah…

Use what little energy she had been using to keep herself conscious, and call down some retribution on these buffoons.

Smite

And as she drifted off to sleep once more…

She didn't have it.

She didn't have the thumb drive.

Where the f*** was the thumb drive.

Screw her safety, she had a planet to sav-

The agent drew something from his pocket, Augusta braced herself for a knife in the stomach; but ended up feeling the exact same thumb drive that had somehow fell out of her hands back at the meadery.

It was rare, everything working out in the end like this.

THat's why she loved it so.

The reassurance that she didn't have to do anything more.

She was all done.

Drive secured, she could send the codes back at some later date. Or just… never.

They'd make new ones.

She just had to tell them that she went out of her way to help the one group of people she might've hated most in the world.

I see I have 8 pings.

I believe most of them are issues.
Eh.

Most prominent among them is Hollenead Worilcalan from the City of Bristol, known for being the literal embodiment of the stereotypical quiet and insignificant backbencher.

Noted by Hollenead Vosodd, all the Holleneads are from the Conservative Party.

No explanation for this action has been provided by the I.S.S, MoJ, or MoIS at this time.

Empress Augusta Kossulminus will arrive the Municipalities of Antarctica at 8 a.m. Pathonian Imperial Time alongside her G.S.S security detail.

Due to the events in Aiklinginion, she isn’t going to be in top physical condition for at least the next week, though this phase will likely last far longer.

The mental condition of Queen Snowrose Icilfer may be noted to have deteriorated immensely for the week-long span of Augusta’s return to Pathonia, primarily due to the fact that there were; and still are; a large amount of parties still hostile towards Augusta either for her previous actions or simply out of an unreasonable spite.

Welcome to the Pacific, the oldest region on NationStates and home of the New Pacific Order for the past 20 years. NationStates can be overwhelming when you first begin (or if you're just coming back!), with a lot of potential ways to play the game and have fun. However, we are more than happy to help you with any queries you might have regarding NationStates and the Pacific. To get started, make sure to read the below list.

  • First things first, join the World Assembly! It's like the United Nations but in NationStates. If you're confused on how to join the World Assembly, this guide should be able to help you out.

  • Once you've joined the World Assembly, you can endorse any nation that is also in the World Assembly. It is extremely important for the security of the region that you make sure to endorse our World Assembly Delegate East Durthang.

  • Now that you've endorsed our World Assembly Delegate, you can join our forums and then apply for citizenship in the New Pacific Order. At most, the process will take a few days, and then after that - you're officially a citizen of the New Pacific Order.

  • The last thing that you need to do to get started is to join our Discord server. It allows you to communicate with all the members of the New Pacific Order, stretching across 3 main branches and other games as well. Since you're a citizen, you'll also get access to the special citizens-only channel too.

Once you've checked everything off the list, you're free to enjoy your time in NationStates as a part of the wider New Pacific Order community. If you want to help out with what we do around here, you can consider Getting Involved - but it is not necessary for having a great time here in the Pacific. If you're not new to NationStates but new to the Pacific, do make sure to still follow the instructions; it helps out a ton!

Hello there, Pippie, Virtual headache specialist, Fretzcountry, Better stian!

Welcome to the Pacific! There are a lot of ways to enjoy NationStates, and the Pacific caters to all of them. To get started in the Pacific, it's important that you complete the below steps to fully enjoy your experience here in the Pacific and the New Pacific Order as either a new NationStates player, newcomer to the Pacific, or as a returning NationStates player.

  • First things first, join the World Assembly! It's like the United Nations but in NationStates. If you're confused on how to join the World Assembly, this guide should be able to help you out.

    -
    New Pacific Order
    -

What is the World Assembly and why should I join it?

The World Assembly, often abbreviated as "WA", is the NationStates equivalent of the real-world United Nations.

    • Vote on game-wide legislation: World Assembly member nations are able to vote on resolutions that reach the floor of the General Assembly and Security Council, thus allowing you to participate in determining game-wide legislation.

    • Endorse other nations: WA nations may endorse (similar to social media "likes") other nations in the same region as them.

    • Write WA resolutions: WA nations with 2 (two) or more endorsements may submit WA resolutions of their own for the entire game to vote on.

    • Bolster the strength of your region: The more endorsements our delegate, East Durthang, has, the larger the weighted delegate vote in the World Assembly is, granting us more influence over international WA affairs. Furthermore, the more endorsements our leadership holds, the more difficult it is for hostile forces to seek to invade or disrupt the stability of our home.

    • Become a Pacifican Vanguard: Nations who endorse our delegate receive the title Pacifican Vanguard, are featured on this list, and are eligible for exclusive rewards, such as custom nation banners.

Joining the World Assembly is the easiest step you can take in order to participate more in NationStates!

How do I join the World Assembly?

Follow the following five simple steps to get started in the World Assembly. If you need help, click on the spoiler sections to reveal screenshots of each step.

    1. Visit: page=un

    4. You will be directed to a page where confirmation is required. Click the confirmation button on the page.

    5. When you are in the World Assembly, visit East Durthang's page and find the "Endorse East Durthang" button. Click this. Once that is done, you will have successfully endorsed your Delegate!

    -
    • Please note that the game only allows you to have one nation as a World Assembly member at any given time! NationStates moderation may remove and/or ban your nations from the World Assembly and/or the game for violating this rule.
    • If, for roleplaying reasons, you do not wish to join the World Assembly make a separate nation to use as your World Assembly nation.

    What is Discord?

Having probably heard about New Pacific Order's Discord server, either from your fellow Pacificans or from simply reading the regional page or dispatches, you might be wondering how to join it. Or not, if you are already a proficient Discord user, simply skip every step until the one where the server link is posted.

Now, for those unaware, LinkDiscord is a communication app available in browser, PC app or mobile format that allows its users to form large organized communities. These communities are called servers, in most cases, and each one has its own specific organization and set of rules and moderators. The intent of this dispatch is to provide an initial introduction to how to function with Discord and, more particularly, the NPO's server.

    Benefits of Joining Discord

    • The ability to become fully integrated with all opportunities available in The Pacific and make the most out of your citizenship is attained through joining the most active aspect of the region.

    • A chance to help determine the regional direction for the World Assembly votes is also available if you so wish to help dictate our decision for specific proposals, including your own.

    • Discord gives you an easier route to meeting the extant regional leadership, discussing regional affairs, and is necessary for people who aspire to become involved in our government.

    • Inclusion in the full regional experience and introduction to the wider community of the New Pacific Order is available through Discord membership.

    Getting Started with Discord

The first step would be to make an account in Discord itself. While not necessary to utilize server it is usually recommended due to ease of reusability and practicality. An account is absolutely free and simply unlocks a lot of features that a guest user might not have. Simply go to Linkhttps://discord.com and register an account, preferably with a username that won't breach any NPO rules, and this step should be done. You'll inevitably be prompted to confirm your email, so simply check your inbox.

With your account registered you now have a few options. You can choose to do one of them, or even all of them. You can open Discord on your browser, download and install the application or download the mobile app. Any of them will work for the purposes of this tutorial, though the PC app is more flexible in terms of functionality (use of one platform does not exclude the use of others).

LinkClick here to join the NPO Discord server. It is as simple as that after every previous step has been accomplished. Click it and after a prompt to join the server you will be in. Now comes the more specific part.

Upon joining the server, if you have already applied for citizenship and been accepted (if not, check this dispatch for a guide on how to do it) Linkpost here to request that your account be added to private channels.

If you have any more questions pertaining to the use of Discord itself, feel free to ask the people within the server for help. We hope your experience within the community is fun and fruitful.

Stop thinking, just breathe…

Augusta Kossulminus

Milowan

January 16th, 9:00 p.m.

January 16th, 9:25 p.m.

January 16th, 9:30 p.m.

As Wubdich says, hand over your kneecaps.

Hello there, 12 1, Mai kang, Provinciaguarajuba, Kjit, Cill jim!

    2. Click "Apply to Join". You must have an email registered with your account to access this feature.

    3. Go to your affiliated email and click the link provided. If you cannot find it, check your spam folder.

    New Pacific Order
    -

    What is Citizenship?

As a part of the Pacific, you and every other Pacifican have the right to apply for NPO citizenship, and gain access to greater participation within the diverse activities and community of the region.

    Benefits of Becoming a Citizen

    • This will present the opportunity to choose one or more specializations in the region's government and gain access to more engaging aspects of the region and what it has to offer.

    • You will gain access to the internal proceedings of the New Pacific Order and membership in the Body Republic, which allows you to propose changes or new ideas that may aid in the regional direction in the future.

    • Joining the forum leads to the path to the forumside roleplay community as well as the gameside roleplay community.

    • Becoming a Citizen grants you to access our private Discord channels.

    • Citizenship is the first step to becoming an important figure in the region and being able to dictate policy as well as help lead other Pacificans.

How do I Apply for Citizenship?

    1. LinkRegister an account on the forum. You will need to click the verification link emailed to the address you signed up with.

    2. Go to LinkAccount Settings -> Edit Profile. Enter your nation name and link then press the 'Save' button.

    3. Review our 'LinkCitizenship Application Instructions'. You can do this by clicking the link or by visiting Recipient Desk -> NationStates Applications -> Citizenship Application Instructions.

  • The last thing that you need to do to get started is to join our Discord server. It allows you to communicate with all the members of the New Pacific Order, stretching across 3 main branches and other games as well. Since you're a citizen, you'll also get access to the special citizens-only channel too!

    New Pacific Order

This will result in a confused, even shocked reaction from Municipal media, due to the abruptness of this announcement.
Nonetheless, it is a positive announcement, considering the... incidents that occurred during a certain civil war. This only serves to reinforce Augusta's positive optics over here.

But most of their territory isn't even on Earth. So what was the point of it in the first place?

(WMD policy now rid of.)

Yike-a-roonies that is... well... y'know what, not even gonna question it. One less genuine threat to Z'verto. /j

Hey, so uh, it's been a while since I've had to deal with bbcode, and I'm starting to go insane trying to figure this out. I'm making one of those wiki style overview factbooks using someone else's template, and the sidebar uses a table. In some of the cells, text for things like "population" and "language" cut off to a new line part-way through the word. How do I fix that??

Hmhm.
Suspicious indeed.
It's as if they thought there was some kind of threat to the mainland or something.
Crazy!

Less nice is the shaky hands. I blame the cold.
